Niabi grinned at Vollerei's joke, feeling more at ease and taking a deep breath in. She could do this. Vollerei left to get into position and Niabi took a moment to compose herself. Her bow was readied and an arrow notched, pulling back to her cheek and waiting for the signal.
Vollerei appeared again in a branch above the Nizdas and dropped down with a yell. This had to be her cue. She took a sharp breath in and loosed her arrow at the fleeing Nizdas, pulling two more arrows from her quiver and launching them like rapid fire. They cut through the air and two managed to strike home. The two Nizdas dropped from their branches and to the forest floor. The others in the heard had scurried off, nowhere to be seen.
Niabi was so excited at the prospect that she hooked her bow around her shoulder and nearly swung from where she was standing closer to Vollerei's line of sight. "Did you see that?" She yelled, her smile covering her face.
She finished her journey to the floor and waited for her partner to reach her. "Should we cook them both?" Niabi was so pleased with herself after this hunt that she seemed to think that she could conquer anything, even cooking. She winked to Vollerei, enjoying the feeling of a job well done.

Vollerei gave Niabi a huge happy smile; "Well done! Two in one shot is always impressive." And that mean plenty of food! And maybe I won't have to go hunting again this evening....
Vollerei was a bit surprised at the happy changes in the quiet girl: apparently she was not the only one who got more confident and loud when she succeeded! "Cook all three of them yup! Since there's a lot of me to feed!" She laughed as she patted her paunch. "You know how to cook? Or would you like me to do it?"

Niabi was a little surprised at Vollerei's appetite. Could she really eat all that they had killed? But she was still in such a better mood than this morning that Niabi was more than willing to try and help. "I... don't cook, but I could probably get some pointers from watching." She smiled to Vollerei. Perhaps they could be friends, Niabi so desperately needed a friend after all. And if the way to Vollerei's heart was through her stomach, so be it.
"How do you even cook Maglardilla?" Niabi had eaten it dozens of times throughout her life, but she had never payed attention to preparing it for the fire.

Vollerei chuckled;"I learned to cook real early... otherwise I had to wait to eat till meal times!" As if she'd wait that long between food! She defended to the jungle floor to set up a small fire. "Nice thing about Maglardilla is that they come with a shell to cook them in..these Nizda's don't so we'll have to roast them on a spit." Which was easy, just took a bit longer time and you had to spice it after you cooked it. I ought to start carrying around a pot or something, Vollerei thought as she finished.

Niabi watched as Vollerei set up the fire, smiling to her new found friend and more excited than she had been in a while to see how someone else cooks. Vollerei seemed to be able to put Niabi in a wonderful mood. She almost forgot why she was skulking around in the forests to begin with.
But she couldn't help but frown at the thought of skinning their kill from today. She had never had to do that before and she really didn't know how. Her mothers were always taking care of it and she had skipped out on too many training sessions as a prentice to have learned how. "I... don't actually know how..." She tried to laugh it out, but it came out nervous. She might be out of her league here, and she hated to think that Vollerei would have to do all of the work. She was almost certain that Vollerei wouldn't want to spend much more time with Niabi if she was proven again and again to be useless.
"I, well I might be able to follow your lead? I can try to help out." Niabi smiled gingerly to her friend.

She could always get a Kinfa for Neska! XD Getting gifts for Volle's adopted daughter is one way to get on her good side~ Or the two of them can go hunting for a Kinfa for Neska~ That can be another prp!
"Don't worry about it, I'll show you how." Vollerei was a bit amused by the younger girl; she hadn't gone hunting much had she? Oh well, it was never too late to learn! "It's a bit hard to get the skin off perfectly with out practice, so just take it slowly." Vollerei said as she pulled out a knife from her belt. "I always start with a cut along the spine..." Vollerei went slow and demonstrated how to peel and cut away the fur from the meat. When she was done with one, she put it on a spit over the fire and handed the knife to Niabi.
"You try on one of your kills. Take your time as we can really only cook one at a time so no rush."

Niabi tried to take it all in and learn as much as she could just from watching. Even if that meant getting past the squeamishness of watching the skin come away from the muscle and meat. It was hard at first, but soon passed and she tried to block out that those muscles used to move. She had killed it after all, this was just the next step.
When it came time for her turn she felt her stomach flutter with the thought of her own hands pulling the skin away, but this was what she had signed up for. With a smile she took the knife from Vollerei and tried to imitate the cut down the spine. "Like this, right?" It wasn't as neat or clean as Vollerei's but it would do for a first time. She followed Vollerei's advice and cleaned it as best as she could while taking her time to really see what it was she was doing. By the time she was finished skinning it the first one was already cooling down.
She looked to Vollerei for approval. "Is this good enough? I don't want to keep the fire waiting, but I think I'm done now."

I will be waiting for that rp once you get Niabi all sorted out! Unless you are like me and have plotted solo's and don't mind starting prp's that occur during or after the plots XD
Vollerei, keeping half an eye on the food, made encouraging noises. "Not bad for a first time! It'll get easier to not get grossed out after a while. Took me a while too!" She said with a chuckle as she removed her meat and offered some sticks to Niabi. "Now you get to cook it! I'll skin the other one after I eat... my stomachs been complaining! I'd add spices.. but nizda's taste good with out them... and you kinda need a pot to really get a good sauce and stuff going."

Niabi was definitely enjoying the attention of Vollerei and her instruction. She took a stick and looked at Vollerei's to see how she had hers on there before spearing her own and offering it to the fire. Vollerei seemed to know exactly what she was talking about when it came to food and hunting down food.
"I've never had nizda before, so I'm sure it'll be good regardless." She laughed and smiled to Vollerei. It wasn't long before her own nizda was ready for eating and toasty on the fire. She thought it might be a little overdone, but it wasn't black, and that was a step up from what she thought she would do. "What do you think? Did I overcook it?"

lol I'm fine with hopping around. I like to just have an idea of what my solo is and then it sits until I get up the energy to write it out.

Vollerei checked it out and gave a nod. "Not bad! A bit too long but not so long as it's charred. But then I like em a bit juicy so I cook them so there's a small amount of red still in the middle." She held up the almost done nizda she was eating to show the pale pink in the center of the meat.
"You interested in cooking?" Vollerei asked. She would love to have others make food for her! It always tasted slightly different for each person!

Niabi felt her chest swell with a sense of pride that she hadn't done a bad job for her first time. She smiled to Vollerei and brought the Nizda back down to cool. Vollerei's nizda was cooked to perfection from what Niabi could tell. It looked juicy and plump.
"I... well I haven't really had much of a reason to cook... but I think I would like to learn." She thought of learning to cook and eventually being able to show Vollerei what she could do the next time they met.
She touched the Nizda and felt the now cooled meat. It was ready for eating. She took a small nibble and tried to figure out the taste. Not bad. It was a little dry... since she overcooked it slightly, but not something she couldn't try again, right?

Vollerei grinned; "I learned cause my mother's only cooked at meal times. If I was hungry in the afternoon I had to cook for myself! Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it eventually. Took me a year to really be able to cook food without burning it." Not to mention how long it too to learn which plants were edible and made good spices and which.. weren't. Those had been some... entertaining experiments to be sure!
"You should ask your mothers and sisters to see which spices they use. Plain meat is fine, but spiced stuff's much better! Plus spices or sauces can make undercooked or over cooked food taste much better. I usually put in the hotter spices. "

Niabi continued to nibble at the nizda meat in her hands, enjoying the idea that she was able to do this for herself and listening to Vollerei. She nodded slowly, chewing on another piece of meat. "I could probably ask my mothers... at least for the basics." She nodded in thought now. "They're busy women though... and I would have to go back to Jauhar to see them..." She trailed off. She wasn't sure she was ready to go back yet. It was much too soon.
"I've never really had any hot spices. I don't think I could handle them." She laughed, trying to clear her head of the negativity and turning her full attention back to Vollerei. "Maybe I can try a soup. That sounds easy enough, right?" She smiled. She didn't really think a soup could be that hard: make broth, add flavor and meat, let simmer.

Vollerei wondered briefly if this girl had problems with putting herself forward; why not just travel and pester the parents? Her mothers had been quite happy to see her again after traveling...
"Soups aren't too difficult to make.... though you've gotta be careful about adding meat cause boiled meat is ikky. But you should really try something hot and spicy!" As they finished eating, Vollerei told Niabi of the spices she usually used, what they looked like on plants and the like so her new friend could find some for herself. Once the meal was done Vollerei accompanied Niabi back to town before waving farewell and heading home herself.
