Fili looked Bilbo over as quickly as he could. The strange fabric he wore had been ripped up but there didn't seem to be any signs of real damage. (And seeing the end of his odd garb was most certainly a perk for Fili.) Mostly Bilbo just seemed stunned which was hardly surprising. It was strange to see a skinchanger even for dwarves, Fili couldn't imagine the shock Bilbo was experiencing having been attacked by one. He seemed rather sheltered.
As Bilbo got his feet under him Fili muttered a few words of encouragement. "Come on, we should get out of here." They could find a guard station while the beast was still stunned and get help. That plan died almost as quickly as Fili thought it up when he turned to get his brother only to watch the clean hit rip straight through Kili's golden coat and into flesh.
"Kili!" He roared charging at the skinchanger. He needed to get it away from his brother. Far away. The land of the dead almost seemed far enough.
Everything seemed to be reaching Kili very slowly. He saw the beast move to spring at him again only to recoil as a second dagger ripped across its shoulder. He heard his brother shouting his name as though it were a war cry. A frightened war cry. Kili turned his head slowly, at least, it felt like he was moving really slowly, to watch Fili charge into the fray looking just as terrifying as their uncle Thorin. Then he could see the skinwalker again and time seemed to fix itself.
Fight. Kili moved without much thought. He had been trained alongside his brother for years. The moves were as natural to him as breathing. He kicked out at the fuzzy monster with a battle cry that was nothing but an enraged, wordless shout. He could worry about the burning feeling on his chest later.

Really, it all had a dreamlike quality to it.... well, more like a nightmare. Bilbo felt like his hooves were rooted to the ground as he watched his friends go forth fighting the cougar- who he was starting to suspect wasn't a natural beast at all.
"G-get it!" he shouted to the three fighters. Who was the tall mare? He didn't exactly have time to take a close look at her, but immediately he could tell that she was a stranger. She was far taller than the brothers and was graceful where they were stocky and strong. Whoever she was, he suspected that he owed her his life.

Whatever her people said about dwarves they couldn't say that they weren't willing to charge headfirst into battle. It was clear enough that they were acting on impulse but hadn't she done just that when she chased the monster this far to begin with? She was at least slightly impressed by their drive, the darker one was even willing to fight while injured though Tauriel had to wonder if he really understood the gravity of his wound.
She joined the two in their assault. If only her king could see her now, fighting side by side with dwarves. She would never hear the end of it.

Three of them. Three of them were fighting her now. Kiij had not been expecting this. The gold stallion charged from one direction while the wounded one kicked at her from close range. Kiij skittered away only to find the blasted mare there. Kiij twisted and turned looking for a way out of the situation or to at least improve her odds. She lashed out with quick swipes of her own but with no clear target she hardly did any damage. Her icy eyes locked onto the smallest of the group for just a moment, pinning him had brought at least two of them to a standstill last time. There was no path to him though.
Kiij's ears lay flat against her head as she snarled viciously. She had lost, again she had lost. All she had managed to do was wound one stallion. She needed to cut her loses and try to escape though. Hadn't that been the point to begin with? She had needed to get away from the hunter, instead she had let herself get cornered.
Turning sharply Kiij made a beeline for the cave behind her. Instead of racing into it she bounded up the side of it sending little rocks raining down behind her. Her agility was her biggest advantage, no horse could climb like should could. As soon as she was on solid ground she bolted like her life depended on it, because she was quite certain it did.

Fili had fought alongside his brother many times but this was likely the strangest incident. Kili was bleeding slowly, it didn’t seem to bother him much but it was getting under Fili’s skin. What if this battle kept dragging on? Could they make it some place safe enough for Kili to rest? The thoughts made it hard to focus but not as hard as his proximity to the elf that seemed to be intent on aiding them. Fili knew the stories of the elves and if they were to be believed then she was not to be trusted. It was entirely likely that they were in this predicament in the first place because of her. Still, she was helping and he wasn’t about to turn down aid.
He stuck close to his brother while blocking the wild cat’s path to Bilbo. He could hear their friend calling weak encouragement in the background and there was no way Fili would leave him to try and fend off the beast even for another second. Thankfully the skinchanger seemed more interested in running rather than fighting. Fili didn’t have to do much more than block it and occasionally kick at it. Before long it ran off scared.
The longer he fought the easier it was for Kili to ignore the pain. Adrenaline rushed through his veins keeping him on his feet as he lashed out and circled around keeping the beast contained between himself, his brother, and the elf maid. It was surprisingly simple. It was three obviously well-trained fighters up against a creature that seemed to be relying on pure rage to get by. The fight was over quickly as the skinwalker scrambled up over the rocks and away. Kili had no intentions of following it and, judging by his brother’s stance, Fili shared his thoughts.
With the threat gone, however, his situation came back into focus. His chest still hurt, worse than before and it felt uncomfortably wet all around it. Kili grit his teeth, he could deal with this. He’d just been fighting, he’d be perfectly fine. “You alright Bilbo?” Kili asked turning the attention to their friend and away from himself.
