cumulative: 412 At last, the red queen chose to reveal herself in the flesh. He had always guessed that the voice was the queen, but R0GU3 had never been too sure about it. He had assumed, but could never confirm. The white rabbit herald eyed the queen through cold red eyes. A gloved hand reached up to carefully adjust the golden-rimmed spectacles still perched atop of his head. Technically the glasses did absolutely nothing, but a part of him was rather fond of the glasses. They were a substitute of sorts to his usual goggles. It was kind of funny how the catoblepas was so quiet this time around, but perhaps that was due more to R0GU3 than the game itself. Perhaps he had grown too tired of his weapon’s antics for the moment. For the moment, maybe all he needed was some peace and quiet. He could close his eyes and listen to the silence dominating inside his head and he could breathe in a relaxed sigh. Just for once, he could think clearly.
And when he could think clearly, he could see through his grief with crystal clarity. He could see that there was something awry about the two queens. The encounter with the Alice AI in the secret room had proved to be an informative visit, and he was glad he had chosen to enter through the door. At least this time he would not walk through the entire situation like an oblivious idiot. He knew that the queens were Legacies and he knew that the queens represented Grief and Destruction respectively. The thought of seeing the white queen made him tense up. R0GU3 did not know if he wanted to meet the white queen despite his past memories of grief and white, yet the experience had made a permanent mark on his existence. No matter where he went or how long he lived, he would always remember the glimpses of space and green smoke and the delicate crown perched at his hips.
But as weak as he may be, it was still the king’s duty to assist the queen, the most powerful piece on the board. For all he knew, the white queen was another program like the Alice AI, but there was no way to escape the game unless he played along. The AI had clearly refused to let them exit prematurely, so the only way was to beat one of the queen, and at the moment there was only one queen in front of him. There was only one option for the rabbit at the moment, and as much as he would rather not—he was more suited to investigating, asking questions, trying to figure out what exactly the whole puzzle was—it was the only thing he could logically do at the moment if he wanted to make any progress to completely the game.
He sighed loudly, a hand reaching up to his neck as he heard a few bones cracked. Wow, what a realistic game.

cumulative: 485R0GU3 continued to stretch out his limbs as he continued to fight the red queen. There were a number of other white faction players around him, swarming to attack the queen decked in ornate red. He hummed thoughtfully as he searched through his pocket card. It took him a moment, and then another moment, to decide what kind of deck to use. It was funny how he had managed to devise a number of decks throughout his duration in the game. He was almost impressed that his inventory could house such capabilities, but for now his favorite would always be his healing deck. It was hardly versatile and incredibly troublesome when he fought on his own, but in a group it was incredibly useful. The number of heals he had managed to garner with the deck was truly fearsome—at least he thought so. If only he had predicted what kind of cards he would have gathered in the game, perhaps then he would have had the sense to become a dorm mouse instead of a white rabbit, but he liked this class. He had picked this class for a reason, and he was happy with the class bonuses and abilities being a rabbit bestowed upon him.
Luck was something he liked, though it was definitely not something he liked to rely on as often as possible. If he could, he would rather depend on his own skills and intelligence. Luck was not something that was particularly useful in investigation and information gathering, after all. But sometimes when things really came down to the wire he liked having to rely on a little luck. It was that extra push that could tip a person over into success from failure.
At the mention of luck, his eyes glazed over as he recalled a particular quest from the Tulgey Woods. He almost shuddered as he remembered his mirror self. His mirror self had appeared exactly the same. It was difficult to say who was “real” and who was not. Did it even matter? He himself had been so close to disappearing altogether, and the thought terrified him. But he could not help pitying that version of himself. They were similar in many ways, he could feel it. It almost felt like a shame to have left their fates to a coin. R0GU3 could still see the glint of the gold coin as it flipped through the air. It almost seemed as if time had stopped until finally the coin clattered to the floor. And as it slowed to a halt, he could see that he had correctly guessed. He had been the one to live. In his mind he could still see that version of himself fade into oblivion, leaving behind only a cake that was clearly meant for him.
Luck had been what gave him the right to live, and he had no right to give up now. He had to keep on living for the sake of the R0GU3 that had disappeared that time.

590 astra here Sweetm00n paused in the middle of healing, glancing down at her pocket card and receiving the message. It was hard to fight and talk at the same time but she'd give it a try. Taking a hesitant step back from the line of healers, she bit her lip as she replied. < TO BoiisonFIYAH: What's the alternative? Go sit in a corner until it's over? >The message was a little snappier than she would have preferred, but she really didn't know what else to say. She was, and she knew it, completely out of her depth here. But what could she do? If she gave any advice that turned out to be wrong, she would be open to be marked as a false prophet, as someone who spouted off things they didn't know. She wasn't even sure why her guildmate had turned to her for reassurance like that, and it was making her nervous. It wasn't even as though she was the leader. Shouldn't it be Teddy he asked? She wasn't even one of the founding members, she didn't have seniority, she didn't even know how games worked, really. Or dreams. Again she began to fret over what people had said about artifacts. She didn't dare ask anyone though, to reveal that she was missing this crucial block of information that was supposedly the norm. < TO BoiisonFIYAH: Um, sorry, what I mean is - I don't think we could beat ALICE even if we were at level 300. She built the game, so she would never make it so we would be able to actually harm her. That would be really, really dumb. Wasn't that bad thing?
n0ms body shook and she shook her head. "Wait, I don't think we should-!" She called out, but it seemed that no one nearby could hear her and she shook her head violently. It screamed inside of her. This is wrong. This is wrong. THIS IS WRONG!
But then, wasn't it how to get home?
Confusion ran rampant in her body and she continued to shake her head while also pulling at her hair, twisting it in a finger and yanking it. Home. That was a good word and one she clung onto when she heard it, but things were so very strange now. Destroying one meant that the words of Alice would come to fruition, didn't it? But then escape from the world was impossible then. n0ms didn't like that idea at all. If the red queen was defeated...
Her thoughts were brought back out of her little world as she noticed it again. She had said herself that she was Destruction. That couldn't be a good thing, could it? If Destruction was able to act wildly... if the white queen couldn't contain her... A flash of Wonderland on fire ran through her mind and she tried to shake it off with a bounce or two towards the queen. That couldn't happen. Alice's words haunted her but this was something that was here now, that had to be dealt with.
Against her better judgement she moved back and launched an attack towards her with her claws drawn out. She moved between the other bodies and quickly moved into a flurry of attacks at the queen. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I just don't want it to end in Destruction if it has to. Tears filled the corners of her eyes and she was knocked back, twisting and rolling on the ground, sitting up on the dusty ground and blinking, slowly standing again.
Though she wasn't sure how much damage she had actually done she could see more coming to fight the cause. They were becoming united. n0ms was happy for that fact but unsure of what it would mean. Could they kill her? What would happen when they did? She shook her head and moved back again to let others get in if they wanted. It was distracting her and that wasn't what was needed at the moment.
Not even she knew what was needed.

[713 Damage TOTAL][50 Damage] McCowboy gripped onto the hilt of his weapon tightly. He was ready for it. The climax was coming. He could feel it – the feeling was surging through his body. The moment that he had been waiting for was soon to be coming. He was already surprising himself with his stamina against the queen. He had been pounding the queen with his weapon for a while now – longer than he was normally able to keep up his endurance for – and had yet to break a sweat. His heart was pounding as the queen tossed him on his back and unleashed her mighty blows on him. He bit his lip in anticipation. “Oh god,” he moaned as he lay down and the queen had her way with him. His massive weapon was risen, but it did not intimidate the queen. The queen appeared to have some skills and technique of her own as it wasn’t long before McCowboy started to feel out of breath from their exchange. He was feeling heated and ready to unleash everything inside of him back onto her. He wasn’t used to being in such a compromised and submissive position. He needed to pick himself back up and reassert his dominance in this tumble with the queen. He pushed himself back up and began to thrust his weapon towards her. “That’s more like it,” he grinned, feeling more and more alive with every thrust of his powerful sword. “You’ve been a very naughty queen,” he teased. “Do you need to get punished again? You’re just begging to be tied back up and shown back to where you belong, ain’t ya?” As he continued to try and gain the upper hand, it was only becoming more evident who was really on top in the situation. The queen pressed him down and lowered him to his knees before her. As he was lowered down, he felt in her service – a service her would refuse to give, even just cordial lip service was too much to ask for. His hands trembled beneath her. His body started to feel limp, the momentum and adrenaline fading away. He let his mind wander to others – people other than the queen. He thought of his ex-boyfriends and others he loved. He was able to rise to the occasion if he could just keep them in mind. He rose back up, hardened and prepared for his next move. He changed the positions of the rustle and fought for control of the situation once again. He unleashed the most powerful and rapid thrusts of his weapon that he could deliver without even considering the risks that were involved when not using protection to defend himself. He was too caught up in the moment to be precautious. As McCowboy continued to repeat the motion, he felt the climax of it all coming nearer and nearer. A release from this place was on its way, coming shortly. He just had to keep it up and soon enough the queen will taste his retribution as he unloads it onto her. 50 damageIt was hard to say how he managed to stay concentrated on fighting the red queen. His mind kept wandering to other memories, but he supposed that was alright so long as he was still alive and dealing damage to her. But as he stared at the NPC (or at least he assumed the red queen was an NPC, or perhaps she was the Legacy herself reincarnated or contained within the Wonderland game) he had to wonder if it really was an NPC. The Alice AI itself was a rather convincing entity, save for the lack of face and blatant replies such as “You created me” and other such phrases that clearly gave away her existence as a programmed being.
But did he really want to go home? What was home, exactly? His instinct was to say that home was the island because he had lived on the island for a few years now. He had grown used to the public showers and to the long hallways of rooms that may or may not be occupied by fellow hunters. Sometimes they were, and sometimes the occupants changed suddenly for reasons he would rather not delve into. Other times the rooms suddenly grew quiet, and he could only assume what kind of fate the previous tenant’s had fallen into. It was not a fate he wanted to think about or wish upon anyone. He could only wish that his own concrete fate would not creep on him too soon. All hunters faced an early death, but he vainly hoped that his death would not be today or tomorrow or the day after that. He wanted to see one more year even when each day was so difficult for him to get through.
He could not understand why he wanted to put himself through the torture of dragging himself through life. When had dragging himself out of bed become so difficult to accomplish? When had he suddenly wanted to lay in bed all die with no will to do anything productive? When had his sincere happiness dissipated into wisps of smoke rolling between his fingers? It was a crushing revelation to realize, but he supposed that accepting the problem was the first step to fixing it.
But the big question was if he could fix it still.
It felt like he was in a well with no way to get out. If he called out to someone he would receive only silence as his answer, and he would be left to wallow on his lonesome with only his thoughts to keep him company. He would twiddle his thumbs, lie down on the ground as he stared up at the opening in the well. Sometimes he would try to call out again, but after a while he stopped altogether. There was no point if no help would ever come to help him.
Did he want to go home still? He did not know. Staying in Wonderland was comfortable. He had to wonder if that Cheshire girl was right after all.
