The mare shook her head. "No, that's not very nice at all. Even if you had done something to it." A weak smile crossed her face when her acquaintance spoke of her ability to pacify the ghoul. Although it was sad, it made the mare feel a little bit useful. Chista didn't understand the allusion to growing teeth as a child, but nodded her head anyway, assuming it was something she probably should know. "Well that doesn't really sound very comfortable." Speaking of comfort, she bent her legs. The mud that was once there had dried and it cracked and flaked off with her movements. It caused her skin to itch but she didn't wish to interrupt the other mare in order to get a bath. No sooner than she could realize her discomfort, Cenotaph was speaking again, this time about her eyes. She raised a brow at the mares description. "Are they really? I'm not entirely sure I can imagine that... They don't hurt, and I can't feel it..." She crossed her pupil-less eyes in an attempt to see across her broad muzzle, but failed terribly.

She frowned as she remembered her childhood trauma and nodded at the black mare. "No, it wasn't very comfortable. Some nights I couldn't sleep because of it. But it doesn't really hurt anymore?" She tried her best to muster up a smile. "You know, unless it gets hit or something." Cen didn't notice the other mare's flaking dirt coating, and had seemingly forgotten about where she was headed. When she looked around, she was drawing a blank. "Yup, they're doing it. It's good that they don't hurt though." She knitted her brows together, still trying to remember her quest. "Where was I taking you, Chista? I guess I just got so excited that I forgot..."

Chista Wakan Catori smiled a little bit at the other mare's sudden realization of their journey. Although the water would doubtlessly be startlingly cold, the mare was quite curious as to exactly what her pelt looked like beneath the soil which hid it. Not wishing to sound too demanding, she pretended to think for a moment about the mare's question. After a couple of seconds, she answered in a hushed tone. "Oh, I do believe you were about to take me to a place where I could rid myself of this mud. Though really, it's drying now so it isn't so dreadful." She gave the mare a little white lie in hopes of sparing her feelings. Chista was unsure of how she may act if she realized just how uncomfortable the mud was truly making her. She bent her legs one at a time, causing more of the caked on dirt to flake off.

Cenotaph's eyes lit up and she squeaked a little bit at the mare's answer. "Yes! Oh yes! Oh dear, I'm so sorry. We just were talking so much and I must have just forgotten and oh goodness." She bucked a little bit and looked around before frowning. "Oh dear..." Her frown became greater and she sighed a little bit. "Oh, Chista. I'm so sorry. I sort of just lost track of where we were going and where we are..." She squinted in the darkness and took a few minutes to think. When she finally gathered her thoughts, she smiled broadly. "Oh! I know! Come on, it's this way!" She took off as quickly as she spoke, hurriedly making her way down a winding path.

The hippo-suti couldn't quite grasp the concept of this other mare, her new companion. When she'd first seen her, she was screaming and running and terrified, and now she seemed to be a bubbly, if not scatter brained, foal-like creature. The sudden change in personality confused Chista, and she was certain that it had to confuse Cenotaph, too. Surely one with such a complex mind had to be disturbed, and she had made it quite obvious that she was. "No, no. No worries. You needn't worry so much." Her eyes widened as the mare took off, and she hurriedly tried to follow her, the quick movements feeling awkward on her clawed feet. She was falling behind rather quickly, and she let out a bit of a huff. "Uh... Cenotaph? Could we please slow down just a little bit? I just can't go quite as fast as you, is all." She disliked asking such a thing, especially since the mare seemed so enthused.

Caught up in her own excitement, Cen had forgotten to look back to make sure her new friend was keeping up all right. When she called out, it was quite surprising for the mare. For some reason, Cenotaph took this mare to appear agile and nimble, but much to her surprise, when she looked back, all she could see was a stumbling shadow. The distance between her and Chista made her quite uneasy, and she shifted her weight from side to side as she waited impatiently. "Sorry! I guess I got a little bit carried away..." She looked around in the darkness, certain she could see others watching her. "Uh... Chista, do you hear anything?" Her eyes widened and her breathing became heavier. Unable to wait any longer, she made her way back toward the other mare. "Maybe we should just... Uh... Stick together, yeah?" She smiled sheepishly and nodded. "I think that would be a good idea."

Chista furrowed her brows at the other mare's suddenly timid disposition. She spoke loudly as to frighten anything Cen may or may not have heard away. "Oh, that's okay! It just feels so awkward to go so quickly, you know? When I walk too fast, the claws dig into the soil, and I feel as though I may trip. And goodness knows we wouldn't need that right now." She smiled awkwardly as Cenotaph came back to her, obviously paranoid and frightened. "We can absolutely stick together, if that's what you want. That way I don't lose you. I haven't a clue as to where we're headed, or where we've been. Nothing around here looks familiar, I'm afraid." She sighed at the realization. This entire time she had been hoping that she would recognize something which would spark her memory, but she hadn't had any luck thus far. Every time she had such a realization, Chista felt more and more that this strange mare may be right about her sudden appearance. But how could that be? Surely there had to be something more logical to explain her existence.

The mare nodded at her new companion's explanation, trying to imagine it for herself. She dug a hoof into the ground, pushing in an attempt to move the soil. Her hoof didn't do much damage, and she squinted in the moonlight to see her friend's claw marks in the earth. "Yes, I believe I can understand what you're saying... I mean, hooves are pretty wide and solid, I guess. I've just never seen anyone with feet like yours before... Do they have bones in 'em? Can they bend? I wonder why they don't have those back toes like birds have." She was bemused, and genuinely interested in the strange anatomy which was so unfamiliar to her. After a few moments, Cen chuffed. "Well why would anything look familiar, silly?! You were sent here by the star! I can't imagine it'd give you all the knowledge of the lands, I don't think that's quite how it works." Cenotaph was quite pleased with her explanation, and she grinned proudly at it. "We're getting closer, it should be just over this hill, then another hill, and then around a corner to a little path that meets up to the river."

Her smoking eyes widened a little bit at the bombardment of questions. She looked down at her feet and extended one to better examine it. Since she had awoken in the mud, she didn't really think much about her feet. They were just kind of there. The movement, although awkward, felt as natural to her as she could imagine. "Well, I think they must have bones in them. For them to be the way they are, anyway. And they can bend." She demonstrated. "I'm really not sure why they don't have a toe like a bird... Probably because I'm not a bird, I guess." She smiled a little bit as she continued to move and bend her foot for the mare. Chista seemed to ignore the part about her coming from the star again, feeling a little bit awkward about the situation. "Oh, that doesn't sound too far at all."

Cenotaph watched in a state of awe when the mutant showed how agile the non-hooves were, and she was quite curious as to how she would fair with them. "Yeah, I know you're not a bird. But do you think you could climb trees with 'em? I mean, they look kind of like they'd be good for climbing trees." She nodded. The only time Cen had seen a Soquili in a tree was when she spotted a flutter shrunken down and hiding, but that was an awfully long time ago, and they had surely flown up there. She snapped back to their conversation for a second and suddenly remembered what they were doing again. "Oh! Right! We'd best be headed, then!" With this she took off with a more even pace than before, making sure her companion could keep up this time.
