Though it faded slowly, the rumbles remaining lightly apparent even as the major quaking subsided, Aprife found it so strange to think that this, like the hail, had come and gone in mere minutes. That device was something else, and it struck him as just as unusual when Zeffer pointed out that an earthquake was hardly a type of weather. It was the first time he really stopped to ponder what this thing actually was. Alternia never seemed short on things that probably shouldn't have been created and this was one of them. Though, he certainly didn't care enough to think of anything else but assisting his friend in the lofty goal of retrieving the damaged machine for his own amusement.
"Yeah, that's messed up..." He was nodding in agreement as he stood, dusting off his pants with a vague, automatic gesture. "Wonder what else that thing can do." As he was thinking, Bumbs came buzzing right on up, inspecting his hair, unsurprisingly full of sand, as if it would tell whether he was injured or not. It took little effort to see he was fine before Bumbs swirled once or twice and returned to flutter around his fellow guardian's head. He, like Arcus, had remained completely unscathed by the tremors.
"Let's keep going. That earthquake made us lose the lusus..." The yellowblood was in the middle of moving forward when, without warning, something white and fluffy skirted between his legs. Reacting on instinct, he dove for it without even meaning to, catching the kicking and squirming creature by one leg, but the remaining free one was quite powerful and threatening to lop Aprife right in the face. "Hey, help!" he shouted at Zeffer, still unsure why he'd gone after the creature, now obviously a bouncebeast that had been startled from its burrow by the quakes, but he was too caught up in the moment to care.

Zeffer was about to agree with the yellowblood's suggestion when the other troll suddenly dove for something he nearly missed himself. He tore his goggles down and couldn't stop himself from laughing at the sight of his friend trying to hold onto a frantic hopbeast.
"Oh ********! You got it! Hold on!!" He hurried to help, reaching to grab the creature by the scruff. Without warning, Arcus had slithered on over, attracted by the smell and the movement. Zeffer was always bringing him little morsels like that for him to eat, and the blueblood seemed to realize this as the snake slithered his way over. "Hey, this isn't for you...but that gives me an idea. Let's see if we can lure the other one back, yeah?" He smirked at Aprife, seeking his consent. It had been his catch, afterall!

It was an unusual idea, but they had the wriggling creature now, why not use it? Whether or not it would actually work was debatable, but they trailed the direction the large and unruly lusus had gone for a while, captured creature in hand, and somehow, someway, they found it barreling back towards them after a short time.
Had it actually been the smell of dinner that summoned the beast, who really knew. All the yellowblood knew is that they were in the path of the rampage and it was time to get the hell out of the way or end up trampled to paste.
Driving to the side, and letting go of the bouncebeast in the process, Aprife smacked at the passing lusus with his whip. The hit wasn't much, about as effective as his previous, and that thought made his expression sour. Hopefully Zeffer would have a better time of it.
He couldn't believe it had worked. It probably helped that they'd tracked it down some, but Zeffer still looked startled and delighted when the familiar rumble returned beneath their feet, and the beast charged back into sight, and right past them too! He gave a howling war cry as he attacked once again, right after Aprife had his shot, wailing his batons against the creature's legs as it scrumbled past.
"Alright, good work!" He said, panting, grinning over at Aprife. He couldn't help but marvel at what a good, clever team they made. As he paused for a breath, he tried to think of a better plan that simply following after the rampaging creature.
"Maybe we could try heading another direction. It's probably risky, but instead of following behind it maybe we could try to head it off or somethin'." He suggested, reaching up to brush a hand through his 'hawk.

REFRESHING REST POST
Everyone in your group is well rested. Your group recovers three stamina, to a maximum of five! Your group recovers 13 hp, if you were previously at zero!
Little pebbles of ice fall in sheets from the sky, and soon the little pebbles feel like veritable chunks of gravel, knives, and a bad case of hypothermia. The ice storm doesn’t seem like it’s going to let up—at least, it looks that way through the blinding shards of frozen awfulness that completely obscure your vision. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1 or a 6 are rolled on a D6.

Something glinting over a bluff catches your eye. A burrow in the side of the dune yields a bounty of shining golden beetles! And as they say, lucky beetles mean good fortune (and megabux$$$). Each member of the group has acquired 1 lucky beetle that can be redeemed at the end of the meta for a variety of rewards. You cannot carry any more than 5 lucky beetles total; if you run into this encounter more than 5 times, you cannot collect any more.
Not weeks after Bloodfest, a familiar snowfall begins to accumulate on the ground, and then rapidly accelerates into a snowstorm. Between the snow, sand and a rapidly changing WACKY sky, it’s nearly impossible to keep track of up and down, let alone a white lusus in a snowstorm. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.

The trek is long and tiresome, but little gems like this are worth it. After looking through an animal den for the umpteenth time this expedition, it dawns on the group that you’ve finally found the lusus’s den! Happy day! If the next 2d4 roll’s result is not to fight the lusus, the group can change the result to a lusus encounter, as the lusus is “coming home”! In addition, teens gain 1 extra hit each. As the lusus is considered to have run back out of the den after the encounter, this effect can only be used once per finding he lusus’s den.
In the distance… Is that a mirage? It certainly looks too good to be true, but as you get closer you break into a sprint when you realize that the oasis is exactly what it appears to be! Your group fully recovers HP!
3,1
There’s little time to get to higher ground as a surging wave of water sweeps through the plains. Aided by a localized storm system, the flash flood rolls through quickly and viciously. This weather effect will remain in play until a 2, 3, 4, or 5 are rolled on a D6.
Upon encountering a heap of weather-ravaged rubble, you spot a familiar hoppity stump laying on the ground. Whether it’s a sign of the dangerous WACKY weather is irrelevant – any troll knows that bouncebeast hooves bring good luck! Your group has acquired a lucky bouncebeast hoof! The hoof can be used to reroll one dice roll during the meta. When the use of the hoof has been announced, the most recent roll is thrown out and can be re-rolled. The lucky bouncebeast hoof is then discarded from the inventory.

A swarm of crawling biteystingerpinchybeasts sets upon the group – looks like the weather and your stepping all over them has made them pretty mad. Better, uh… Keep stomping! The swarm has 6 HP. The group takes 2 damage for each post that the swarm hasn't been wiped out yet.

A sudden cold snap whisks through the desert. There’s a n** in our nose, a chill in your bones and your cheeks are just a little more vibrant in hue. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to be much more than a quick blast of frigid air. This weather effect will remain in play until the next dice are rolled.
Who woulda thought. "Sure, that could work. Let's give it a try, better than chasing that thing around, it's too fast," he'd agreed. It felt like only a blink, maybe two, and the ground was trembling ever so slightly. Another earthquake? It felt like it could be the start of one and he wondered if that meant they were close to the creature and the WACKY. The first step to that theory went out the window completely, though, when a tall and spreading cloud of dust became visible in the near distance.
It was the lusus, heading their way again, though not straight on. Aprife wasn't sure if they had indeed been able to head it off on its path or if it had made another unpredictable turn. Either way, it didn't much matter. It was getting close enough to hit and the yellowblood was already raising his weapon to signal the time for assault. "C'mon, man!"
"Hahaha, hey, it worked!!" Zeffer smirked as the plan seemed to pay off, even though they hadn't been going for very long in their new course. He really wanted to be the first to wallop the creature into submission, but it seemed as if it wasn't even close to losing any steam. Well, he'd get it good and hard this time around...
"I got it! I g---AHHH!!" The blueblood yowled as the lusus came a bit too close for comfort, and managed to trip himself up as he tried to dodge. It threw his whole attack off kilter, and when he regained his balance he only managed to tap its tail as it rushed past.
"Get it, hurry!!"

"Somehow!" Aprife called back, laughing between breaths as they charged to make another mark on the creature. There was no way to tell how many other groups, from their faction or otherwise, had made contact. It barely seemed any worse for wear each time they saw it. That was especially surprising, since they hadn't crossed paths with any other trolls yet (aside from the dead kind, of course). Somehow the lusus could travel the vast desert and back without leading any groups right into each other. Just what kind of stamina was it running on?
When they got close enough, he gave it as much oomph as he could muster while trying to keep up. It still wasn't much, only catching a little more of the beast than he had the first couple times, and Zeffer's shout startled him enough that he was nearly tripping, too. Though, it could have just been his unruly shoelaces. Details.
He was getting irritated, to say the least, at the way the lusus continued to wiggle just out of his grasp every single time. What he should have been was grateful they hadn't wound up crushed under its feet yet.

A thick translucent blanket of dust appears ominously on the horizon. It looms closer and closer until finally a distinctive wind whips around its waves of sand and dust, creating a suffocating climate for everyone inside of the storm. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.
Plop. Plop. Something drops from the sky, landing over the hill. Another flops into the sand nearby, making an unpleasant squelching noise. Plop—splat. At your feet, the grey, gooey eye of a fish stares back up at you. Plop. A mackerel. Plop-plop. A few sardines. Plop plop plop plopplopploploplopopop—FISH RAIN! This weather effect will remain in play until another weather effect is rolled. Players may roll 2d4 for their regular item, location and lusus encounters, but will be plagued with a constant fishy invasion until then.

Through the desert there aren’t many troll dwellings. You do, however, manage to find a long abandoned hive, and decide to continue the search while in a more protected position. Your group can do two 2D4 rolls while searching the hive. Weather encounters triggered during this time are dispelled immediately, as the group is considered to be sheltered from them at this time.
The peace in the desert seemed too good to be true. Turns out that nice quiet spell was just the calm before the storm – or maybe all of the other weather effects were just too busy getting sucked in to that giant TORNADO straight ahead to do you any harm. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1 or a 6 are rolled on a D6.

Passing through the desert, the only thing that is particularly interesting is the grim landmark of a set of lusus bones half-buried in the desert sand. This is not the lusus you’re looking for! Carry on. Look, there’s a little troll skeleton beside them... Aww!
The pitter-patter of drizzly rain dot the sand with dark freckles. It’s pleasant at first, but soon the rain picks up pace. A roar of rolling thunder heralds a torrential rainstorm! Soon thick, heavy raindrops coat every surface in sight. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.

Zeffer cursed as he watched it charge off as it had been doing, though he was only vaguely irritated. It felt almost as if they were getting into a sort of pattern now, and if they kept moving they would no doubt run into it again. "It'll be okay, we'll get it!" he reassured as he trodded back over to the yellowblood. He was about to make a tease about their rusty fighting skills when Arcus' rattle sounded out and he realized they had something more menacing to worry about.
A thick, eerie looking dust storm was billowing in. "s**t. More weird weather. I hope it blows by as fast as the other storms did..." He said, and quickly put his goggles on before pulling his shirt up over his nose and mouth. He could already taste the dust in the air.

When the reassurances came, he was sure sigh extra loudly and just as dramatically before cracking a wide grin. Zeffer was right, it was probably a good thing he was out here in the desert with his good friend and not some stranger. Then again, he probably wouldn't even be here if not for the blueblood. He had been near content this time to simply gather the large influx of information from the city streets.
"Well, back to the grind," he muttered, just as Arcus found fit to 'speak up,' as well. He glanced back, wondering just what it could mean. Good thing (or bad, maybe) he didn't have to wait long.
The wind kicked up and sand swirled around them in waves. Bumblesuckle took the opportunity to crawl quickly back under his scaly protector's large wing, trying to hide from the sudden uncomfortable grit and grime. Trying to do the same, at least for his eyes, he reached to pull down his goggles. Unfortunately, another strong gust whipped a handful of sand straight into his face. Sputtering, the yellowblood was suddenly blinded temporarily, throwing his arms over his eyes.
Even with his mouth covered, the storm was enough to send him into a short coughing fit. He quickly scrambled over to Aprife, definitely not wanting to get separated from him, and Arcus had the sense to do the same, arcing his body around the two trolls.
"s**t dude, you okay??" The wind was whipping around them so hard that he almost had to shout to be heard."We better just wait this out here! Wouldn't want to get run over by that lusus wandering through the storm..." He said, trying to make some sense. It felt like a real fear, anyway, and with visibility so low it seemed better to take fewer risks.
Yet, it seemed the moment the words left his mouth, the storm blew away almost immediately, leaving them coated in a fine layer of dust.

The sand never quite slowed enough right away for him to risk lowering his arm from his eyes, but he could hear Zeffer and nodded, too busy trying to blink the offending stuff from his eyes to try and find his voice in the storm. His friend's large lusus afforded them some shelter they otherwise didn't have, too, and that certainly helped until the windstorm snuffed out as quickly as it had come. The bouts of weather had seemed like they'd lessened some, but this only proved they weren't gone for good.
"I'm okay," he finally responded out loud, lifting his watery gaze to give the blueblood a thumbs up. It was a bit strange looking, actually, his eyes bloodshot, yellow veining through the already golden parts of his eyes. The two colors looked a bit odd together. "It get you at all?" He knew, at least, that Zeffer had been much better at getting his goggles on.
It still stung just a little to stop blinking for too long, so he did, eyes fluttering erratically as he took the opportunity to get a bleary look around. With the way the sand had been whorled here and there, it wasn't at all surprising when his gaze landed on something that had been unburied after who knew how long. Another set of bones. What was this, the third one? Aprife's lips pursed and rather than point it out he just stared. He was sure Zeffer probably saw it by now, as well. They sure were becoming the bones brigade.
