If that test could have gone any longer, Aureole may have banged her head against the desk in a fit of wanting something to distract her from the questions.

But thank goodness it was done!

She stretched her hands out in front of her while flexing her wings a smidge. Finally! Now she could get on out of here and enjoy the outside!

Now where are they? DEDfeesh pouted, turning their head left and right to check out the scenery.This was a totally different place in comparison to where they had been before...and the Lake stood out the most. Voice drifted from its general direction, and it perked their interest.

Arriving at the lake, they took a peek at the lake, only to be greeted with disembodied voices. Those voices were familiar...they tried to pay more attention to the waters, and...

“Are we getting to the ending of the book?” They asked silently, tucked ever so carefully to bed by their parents. Today, only papa was there but it was fine! He was the best out of everyone else at storytelling! Though…obvious they couldn’t say this out loud or everyone else will start trying to one up him. Their family is so competitive at times…

A soft chuckle drew them out of their thought as their father replied with a soft, “Sadly.” However, the smile on the elder’s face was soft and kind. He pulled out a second book with is free hand to show off the sequel, and the child let out a small squee of delight. The ending of this book might be now, but the story has yet to end.

Their wings quivered slightly as they sat on their bed. It was the day before they left for the purpose of education, they were heading off to Amityville tomorrow and…

Keel could feel their stomach drop as the realization hit them: they were heading off to a new place with no one to rely on. Would they be alright? This is the first time they’ll be living without any of their siblings or parents around. Will people like them? They’ve become good at greeting their parents’ friends and their children, but will school be similar to that?

The door opened.

Surprised, Keel nearly jumped out of their skin before turning to see who has entered only to be greeted by their dad, a little confused by the poor thing’s over reaction. His expression goes from confused to worried, and he lets out a sigh. Both of them can only thing of one thing: Oh boil…

[17. Empty]

This feeling was devastation. It was the gut sinking feeling when something just went wrong.

"CHEL!" He screeched at the top of his tiny toddler lungs.

The girl peeked around the corner with wide eyes, clearly knowing exactly why he sounded distraught. "What's wrong?"

"You ate all the cookies!" He pulled his tiny chubby hand out of the jar and spun it around so she could see that it was very much empty, save for a few crumbs unfit for a mouse.

"Man, I bet someone ate them all. That sucks."

"Chel!"

[16. Nostalgic]

Doot doot do doot do do do.

The feel of flimsy, clacking plastic in his hands and cheery chiptunes filling his ears was the ultimate feeling of childhood. Every vibrant pixel of the classic game was a direct connection to all the good memories he had. There was nothing like the mindlessness of a console, a TV, and a warm, sunny summer afternoon.

Even as the death music played a dozen times and the sun dipped below the horizon, there was nothing beyond the bliss of playing a favorite game.

Theme: Hatred

Soren didn't need a specific memory to feel hatred. The mere flashes of memories across the lake from him, the voices calling to him...that caused hatred enough. Hatred toward the hunters that destroyed so much, hatred at humans overall, refusing to give in, to accept Death as their fate.

Hatred at himself for not being strong enough to protect what he loved. For being so weak willed that he couldn't even give someone he cared about a straight answer.

Angrily he shoved his hand in the water. He could deal with whatever came his way.

Theme: Hatred

The voices calling to her were mesmerizing, and at this part of her dream Taani could not resist. She moved toward the voices, touched the water, and suddenly she was drifting.

"Mr. Prakash, I am afraid we have bad news. Nothing is physically wrong with your son other than exhaustion. I fear that is lowering his immune system. But he has been saying some strange things. Does he play many video games? Watch horror cinema?"

The voices droned on and on, something she had not bothered to remember, but then, at long last, the diagnosis. She could feel her hands clenching into fists, knowing after the questioning what they would say about him. What they would recommend. That he be medicated. Placed in a home. They had been leading up to her brother being crazy for ages now.

But it wasn't true. None of it was. He wasn't the crazy one, they were. How could they not see what was happening to him?

Rage filled her, and she hated them. Hated them for their ignorance.

Hated the shadows that plagued her brother.

Hated that she was the only one who seemed to actually know what was happening, and she could do nothing to stop it.

She could never hide her emotions. It was something that her mother, a very mystical and serene and above it all reaper struggled with. Her offspring were supposed to carry on the family code of quiet wisdom, not scream around the house dramatically every time something went the smallest bit wrong. It was always a point of contention between the two, one crying their eyes out and rolling on the floor, the other sitting quietly in a chair, both bristling with outrage at the other's audacity. She could still remember her father joking about it, how she had turned out 'just like her mother' in some ways. Not knowing when to back down being one of them, was the implied message. But she continued to butt heads over what she felt was the only way possible for her to live. Emotions were important, you couldn't just hide them away and hope people could read your mind. You needed to be out there, expressing yourself.
