He nodded, "Oh that's for sure. She's going to be ecstatic and spoil the foals as much as possible." Austin smiled at her and chuckled. "So we better get all the time we can in now before she arrives." His gaze went to the baskets. "I cannot wait til they emerge. I just know they'll be stunning, just like their mama. Or handsome, like their papa," he smirked, showing off his classic charming wit. He stepped over to the baskets and leaned his head down. Inside he could hear soft baby coos, and the sounds of them breathing as if they were asleep. He softly kissed the lids of both baskets and whispered, "We love you little foals, even though we haven't even met you yet." He then returned to Alura's side. "They must be sleeping now," he said in a hushed voice.
He realized what time of day it was and noticed that he was getting pretty hungry. "Would you like me to gather some things for you to eat while you watch over the baskets? I know I'm quite famished myself, I'm sure you must be as well." Almost on cue, his stomach growled. Austin laughed heartily at the amusing timing. "Well, see, there we go. I think my stomach has spoken."

She laughed at the perfect timing of her mate's stomach. "If it isn't too much trouble, Love, I would appreciate it. I don't dare wander too far away from our little ones, not even for a second."

He kissed her forehead gently and then he left to find some food. He didn't go far as he didn't want to stray too far from his family. As he picked some berries and found some leafy branches to take back to her, his mind wandered. He thought about how blessed he had been. His childhood was a wonderful time, having been part of a loving family. Growing up, he made many foalhood friends, and found a life partner in Alura. He remembered the many times they had played together, finding mischief and fun in almost everything. The place where they had made their special place, the great willow tree, was still their special place. Austin had settled rather close to his childhood home and so he could go visit the old tree whenever he wanted. He planned to take his foals there one day as well. The old willow still bore the marks that Austin and Alura had made. One set from their foalhood, and then again when they reunited years later. A smile spread over his face as he thought about taking his children there to make their own mark. It could become a tradition. He finished gathering food and placed all he had found inside a large leaf and bundled it up to carry back to Alura. He made his way back as the sun was setting. Once his mate came into view, a warm feeling of love washed over him and he knew he was home.
Nemesis Valkyrie I think we should fast forward this to when the foals emerge. biggrin I'd forgotten this one was going to have them coming out of the baskets.
