Lenore placed the book aside as she watched the man fall asleep. She stared at the orb held out to her for a moment before poking it and promptly falling asleep.
Sheoldred watched the girl fall asleep and sighed. "I thought she was done with the whole falling asleep thing." Urabrask shrugged.

Melpomene caught Lenore and gently put her down. She then turned to the pokemon and quickly Dark Voided them too. Might as well have everyone present join in. She disappeared back into Corbin's shadow and entered the dream.
Corbin opened his eyes, saw he was standing up, and looked around. This time they were on an island that had a small town, a large forest, and mansion in the distance. The last time he had been in one of these dreams he had been at port in the Unova region. "Huh change of scenery." He muttered to himself. He turned around and noticed Lenore appear. "Welcome to the dream world. Ah.. Melpomene there you are."
Melpomene drifted down from the sky and stopped before Corbin and Lenore. "H-hello... I do not know if other Darkrai can hide in shadows like I can. I was only around Euterpe and she is not a Darkrai." She said. She looked around and a feeling of sadness could be felt as she looked at the town.

Lenore looked around at the new surroundings. It was kind of similar to all the times she'd visited 'Orre', so she wasn't too surprised at the change of scenery.
Lenore looked at Melpomene as she answered her earlier question, then shrugged. "I can just ask Ellie about it later. Oh, Ellie is my friend. She's also a darkrai."
Urabrask and Sheoldred materialized next to the girl, looking around curiously and suspiciously, respectively. Unlike Lenore, they weren't used to dream worlds.

Melpomene tilted her head at Lenore. "Ellie? Another Darkrai? Do you travel with a Cresselia too?" She asked, "Euterpe is a Cresselia but... she disappeared. The town suffered when both of it's guardians disappeared." She looked back at the town which seemed to be glowing now.
She floated over to Urabrask and Sheoldred and looked at their markings. "So similar yet so different. How did you get the stains?" She asked curious.
Corbin was slightly interested in how Lenore so quickly accepted the dream world. Had she experienced something similar to this before? He didn't get a chance to ask as he noticed the town was glowing. "Um... that's not a normal city lights glow." He said. No it was more of the fire burning the town type of glow. "Melpomene, is there any chance you can stop that or change the scenery?" He received a head shake in return. "Thought so."

Lenore shook her head. "I don't know what a Cresselia is, so no." She looked around at the town as it began to glow. "So this was a real place, too? Why's it glowing?" It reminded her of her last day in Orre, but she shoved the thought from her mind. She really preferred not to think about that.
Urabrask shrugged. "Always there." He said, simply.
Sheoldred looked at Urabrask before responding. "I was tortured for them."

Melpomene shook her head hearing the replies of the pokemon. "So sad so sad. I shouldn't have the stains. But blood taints and stains." She lamented before turning to Lenore, "Is that so? Cresselia is my other half. She keeps the dreams sweet."
She nodded at the question about the land. "Yes this used to be my home. I helped guard the founding family while Euterpe guarded the town itself." She replied, "It's glowing because the blood taints.""
Corbin shook his head hearing the pokemon talk. A pokemon shouldn't be tortured to make it how a person wants it. "Melpomene that isn't an answer." He said in reply to why the town is glowing.
Melpomene turned to look at Corbin and nodded. "It is how I remember it before I fled. Perhaps if I hadn't abandoned my duty the town would have never glowed from the fires. Perhaps she would have lived....."

Sheoldred stared at the darkrai as the blood pooled on her skin before lurching up and rapidly retreating back into the metapod. Urabrask said nothing as he watched the two pokemon.
Lenore tilted her head. "What do you mean, 'keeps the dreams sweet'?" She didn't understand what the darkrai meant by 'the blood taints and stains', either, but she figured she probably wouldn't get a straight answer. It was all riddles.
Lenore fidgeted at the mention of fire, and she pushed the memory from her mind again. No. It's over now. I never have to go back there.

Melpomene turned back to the pokemon in time to see the blood move on Sheoldred. She flinched back remembering how the blood from the one she was to protect soaked into her, marking her as a failure.
"Cresselia brings good dreams. Darkrai brings nightmares. Already the dream begins to taint and turn." She said. Screams could be heard now from the town and then gunshots. "So much sadness..... the great tragedy of this town." She commented offhandedly, "Perhaps this wasn't the only town." Suddenly the town warped as did the land around them. It was quickly covered in a mist with an eerie glow.
Corbin swallowed nervously as the land warped around them. It was enough to make a person dizzy. "Um... Melpomene.... you sure you can't control this? Or wake us up?" He asked looking around, "And where are we now?"

Lenore looked around at the mist. She couldn't tell why, but she felt distrustful of it. But as she looked around, she found that she was alone. "Sheoldred? Urabrask? Melpo... mere? Uhm..." She blinked a few times. "I don't think I ever got his name, come to think of it..."
"Lenore."
Lenore turned to see Mephistopheles, the dusknoir floating silently just behind her. "Mef? What are you doing here?"
The dusknoir said nothing, however. The glow from before returned. "Kill it! Kill it!" Voices sounded from far off, but quickly drew closer. "Kill the demon!" Lenore's eyes widened in horror as she saw Mephistopheles suddenly surrounding by adults holding torches. "No... Not again...." She moved to help but found herself frozen in place.
"Mef, run!" But the dusknoir didn't move, even as he was set on fire. "Mef!" Tears blurred her vision as the girl pleaded with the dusknoir to move, wishing she could move, stop it somehow.
"STOP IT!!" Lenore turned around to see herself rushing forward, shoving one of the men into the fire. All of the assembled adults screamed as the man ran about aflame. The younger Lenore grabbed Mephistopheles by the hand and lead him out of the fire. The man she had shoved fell to the ground, writhing in pain, in agony, and then nothing.

Melpomene looked to Corbin and shook her head. "I do not know where this is. But if you wish to wake up.... I am sure you can do it." She then faded into the mist and disappeared.
She ended up reappearing by Lenore. "So is this your tragedy?" She asked, "Or is this just the beginning? I cannot influence the dream. Only make it a nightmare. You are the one with the power to change it. Or you can leave it as it is and wake up. Can you wake up child? Or shall you remain locked in your nightmare?" She again faded into the mist and disappeared.
"Melpomene!" Corbin shouted. He sighed when she disappeared and scratched his head. He looked down at the kid's pokemon. "I hope she's okay. Your kid is tough, right? Better go find her. Can't leave her locked in a dream." He said while walking through the mist.
Hearing yelling he picked up the speed. He spotted two Lenores but one was clearly younger than the other. The older one was the kid he had met. "Hey kid! You okay!?" He yelled as he ran to her. He didn't spot Melpomene which wasn't a good sign. As he ran to Lenore he ran right through the younger one and the Dusknoir. The whole scene faded away leaving them in a white mist. "I think it's time to wake up. Can you wake up on your own kid?" He definitely didn't need one of his memories being dragged up in a nightmare.

Lenore breathed heavily as she watched the man burn, her eyes wide. Her hands balled into fists as she looked away. "It was him or Mef, I had no choice...!" She reassured herself, silently. "I had no choice...." She whispered.
After Melpomene appeared next to her, Lenore nodded to herself. "A dream. That's all this is." But the girl was clearly still distraught from the old memories being dragged up, and she wrapped her arms around herself.
The darkrai disappeared and Corbin ran up to her. "I... I don't know. I never had to wake up, before. It always just ended." She felt a sharp pain on her cheek, and the world vanished.
Lenore opened her eyes to the forest in time to see blood retreeating back into Urabrask. The nincada was staring at the girl, and she placed a hand to her cheek, pulling it away to reveal blood. "Thank you, Urabrask. " The bug pokemon nodded as Sheoldred stared distrustfully at Melpomene.

Melpomene floated nearby staring at the group. There was nothing she could do to wake them. She could only put them to sleep. She felt someone staring at her and turned to see Sheoldred staring.
A flash of red light appeared and a Mienfoo appeared next to Corbin. She shot a glare at Melpomene and then turned her attention to her trainer. She raised a fist and then punched Corbin in the stomach. "Ffffooooo." She then stepped back and watched him wake up.
Corbin was left alone in the mist as Lenore suddenly disappeared. Okay apparently she could wake up, or had someone to wake her up. "Okay time to wake up.... wake up Corbin...." He muttered to himself. Nothing happened and he sighed. The world suddenly jolted and his stomach flared in pain.
Opening his eyes Corbin groaned in pain. "Oh man... Valkyrie... did you have to hit me so hard?" He moaned grabbing his stomach. He sat up slowly and looked around. "Glad to see your pokemon made it back. Hope they woke you up more gently than Valkyrie did."

Lenore wiped blood from the cut on her cheek. The oils from her hand stung on the fresh wound, but she was okay. Better than before, at the least. She nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine."
Sheoldred turned her attention from Melpomene to the meinfoo and glared. "You."
Lenore looked from Sheoldred to Valkyrie to Corbin. "...Have we battled before....? I don't generally pay attention, but Sheoldred looks really mad."

Corbin nodded when she said she was fine. "That's good." He said looking at the Metapod and then Valkyrie, "Battle?" He then took a good look at Lenore and her pokemon. "Huh. You know I think we did. Although I never did get your name then. I'm Corbin and that's Valkyrie. Clearly the Darkrai is Melpomene..... Melpomene?" He looked around not seeing the legendary pokemon.
Valkyrie nodded at Corbin's question. She then turned to look at the Metapod and returned the glare. "Me? What about me?" She replied while standing tall and at attention. She remembered this weird pokemon. She beat her butt in a random battle.
Melpomene noticed the hostilities and sank into a nearby shadow. She then darted to another one until she was resting in Corbin's shadow again.

Lenore nodded. "I'm Lenore," She gestured to the two bug pokemon. "and they're Sheoldred and Urabrask." The girl paused. "Sheoldred's the angry one." She added helpfully.
Sheoldred continued to glare at the meinfoo. "You beat me, before. Don't pity me or I'll kill you." At her side, Urabrask sighed.
