"I think a few hours as well," Eron checked his pocket watch.
He used a wind up on instead of batteries because he never seemed to remember to replace the batteries in his. As long as it was of high quality, he would never had to replace it.
"I'm originally from Barton City, as for how... I have guesses but unfortunately magic and physics are not my strong points."
He never bothered to learn further, though he supposed even if he had he still would have no clue in what was going on. Eron was, after all gifted in earth magic and would have probably been a hedge wizard or something if he hadn't been a chemistry teacher.

"Barton City," Shoneah repeated with a frown. "Where is this place, this Barton City? It is a place I have never heard of before."
She was well aware of the size of her world and that there were many more places in it than she could ever hope to visit, but that didn't mean that she knew the names of many of the places outside of her own mountains. She had never intended to travel beyond her mountain home, why would she bother worrying about the other places out there? They had nothing to do with her.

Eron gave her the continent he lived on and the country in which the city existed. Since he wasn't sure where Shoneah was from, but he was sure somewhere quite far, and probably warm this time of year judging by her clothing.
Or maybe it was always warm, who knew?
"And you?" he asked after telling her.

Shoneah recognized the names of his country and continent, and she had a rough idea of where they were located.
"I am of the Aquinnashua people," she told him. "We are a wandering people, and we live in the mountains." In return, she told him the countries her people migrated through, and the continent on which they were located - a quarter way around the world from where he was from.
Then she looked around. "But where are we now?" she questioned aloud. "Why are we here? And where do we go from here?"
To her, there was no question but that they had to stick together. He had already almost been attacked by a dragon, and she simply refused to even consider leaving him on his own. It would be tantamount to murder in her opinion.

Eron sighed as he looked around, "I have no clue... and knowing how sometimes things can get magically unstable this could have just been an accident. Actually I'm hoping for an accident because if it was on purpose that might be a problem for the both of us."
Mages who grabbed people from other places were generally not friendly. It was rare, but he had heard enough stories growing up.
"As for where, somewhere with people, but the earth here is very active so I don't know if there is anyone living on this land. I don't have enough experience to sense out living settlements, I would probably just end up knocking myself out."
Though he did know what to look for, but the idea of being knocked out wasn't pleasant to him.

Shoneah nodded slowly, her pale eyes thoughtful. "Though when we find people," she murmured, "I suggest that we scout them out before alerting them of our presence. Not everyone is friendly, and we are in their territory, wherever we are."
She stepped towards the man and held out one hand to him. "I am Shoneah Adoeete Silverbirch," she introduced herself, her name rolling off her tongue smoothly despite the odd sound it would have to those who did not speak her language. "Aquinnashua tracker and warrior."

Eron, took her hand and shook it, "Eron M, chemistry teacher at Barton High."
It didn't sound anywhere near as impressive to him as her being a tracker and warrior. She was probably better equipped for this than he was. Once the introductions were out of the way he looked thoughtfully.
He knew the earth was active, there were probably volcanoes, but beyond that he wasn't quite sure about the land.
"If I lived on a land prone to shaking, where would be the best place to live?" he asked aloud.

Shoneah put one hand to her brow and looked around. "I came from that direction," she said, pointing back the way she'd come, "and there was nothing there. Perhaps deeper into the trees?"
She gestured towards the opposite direction and looked to Eron for approval.

"Right," Eron replied as he grabbed his case.
The suitcase stumbled over the rocky ground and he glared at it.
"I just might use their papers for tinder if night falls before we find anyone friendly," he muttered to himself.
If it did come down to that, he would just give them all a passing grade for competing it. Granted it would be worth less than he intended but that was fine.

Shoneah pulled one pistol from its holster and opened its bullet chamber.
"What do you have in there?" she asked curiously, pulling a cartridge from her belt and inserting it into the chamber. "It's best we know all our resources."
She flipped the chamber shut again and returned the pistol to its holster, then repeated the action with her other one.

"Mainly paper," Eron admitted with a shrug, "Specifically, student tests that still need to be marked, a stack of worksheets that I need to hand out, a grade book, two textbooks, my own personal notebook, three blue pens, two black pens and three purple pens, a laptop, a powercord, a small music player, a calculator and a hoodie."
None of which were useful except the parts that could be burned.
"And yourself?"

Shoneah didn't like the sounds of what the man was carrying. Most of it would be useless if they had to fight for their survival.
At his question, she raised her hands in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get sort of motion. "Two pistols, one sword, and a hunting knife," she said simply.
Which reminded her.
"We should eat before we go anywhere," she said, nodding at the dragon she'd slain. "It's been hours since I've had anything and I'm famished, and we're going to need our strength. Think you could find some wood for a fire?"
She knelt next to the dragon and pulled her thick hunting blade from its hidden sheath in the back of her waistband.

The thought of eating dragon sort of made Eron uneasy but compared to other foods he ate he really shouldn't complain.
"Yes, that shouldn't be a problem."
They were still near some trees though it was sparse, but he wouldn't have any trouble finding branches and the like for a good fire. It helped that this place was hot and kind of dry so he found several good branches that were just laying about.

By the time Eron had gathered enough wood for a fire, Shoneah had pried enough scales off the dragon to get at the meat beneath.
"Well, wherever we are, this dragon is like the ones back home," she commented, more for the sake of conversation than anything else. "We should get what we can from it that would be useful before we go anywhere, too."
In her head, she began to make a list of the parts they would need to take with them.

Eron thought about what he knew about dragon parts. While he was a chemistry teacher he did know a bit about potion making, it was hard not to.
"Scales and claws might be useful to someone if we need to trade," he paused and then added, "Provided whoever lives on these lands don't mind their dragons being hunted."
He knew in some places dragons were special and the locals might not appreciate them killing their dragons.
