So he didn't know what Tsui had told her. In a way, she wondered if that would really make a difference in his view on it. But still, the teen knew when she was caught. Maybe her interest were high but she had always been like that since becoming a senshi. So now, what was she could to do caught between a rock and a hard place.

Leaning back on the planter, putting her hands beside her and gazing up towards the sky, Delilah threw her cards to the wind. "You tell me what you think and I'll tell you what I think." She offered in exchange. There was no way she was coming out and flat out saying who she was without something in return. "Because while you say I have a high interest, I have never heard of a human in the news being reported with a mark like the one you bare. My look of fear caused you to jump to the idea that I am involved? Did you skip over the part where I could honestly just be scared out of my mind that something like this is going on in the city I call home? The fact that you jump to such a concussion leads me to believe quite a bit of what you are telling me is diluted and that you are more involved than just by being a support." She responded finally gazing back at him.

The look on her face though was of pure emotion but not happiness, anger or even of high energy. In her red eyes, fear and even small pools of tears. "I am scared Quenton. But at the rate the city is going, there is no stopping it is there?"

No. Not skipped. Reading people is a game of probabilities, and one played by all the plays filled with the only friends I've really known. You backpedal and wave the question away too hard, overreach. Clumsy. Deflecting directly back onto me is too elementary. Too predictable.

You bore me.

Inwardly he frowned. He did not let it get to his eyes or face. He left his expression searching. He did watch her throat. Her hands. Her pupils. "Diluted, yes. There are many potentials around you, Delilah, good or bad. I hope it turns out good."

Which was direct enough for saying this had become, in some part, a test.
"It's reasonable to be scared."

"It's natural. Instinctual. The want of 'a normal life', happiness, simplicity, love, children, a future and success. That is what is threatened, and that is all and more the things that people first jealously cling to to protect for themselves. The things that grief counselors assure children are still possible, " Quenton carefully shifted, getting up with the help of study planter. "Maybe they are. If you keep your head down, keep to your studies, keep mace in your pocket...maybe you'll come out without ever an incident other than that convention. If it is fear that moves you...reconsider going abroad for school. Staying in this city is a statistical Russian Roulette."

"What was it that you were adventuring for? Apologies, but even with this blanket, I still get cold fast right now. I've lost what little spare weight I had to keep me warm."

" The least I can do is get your feet pointed to the right direction. But I have to be getting indoors, and home is still some blocks away, or I'd gladly stay and debate all the problems of the world with you. You're welcome if you want, but I understand if you rather not."

She was being dismissed.

Delilah knew that flat out in his voice and in his choice of words but also tested. Quenton at that moment did not trust her and she believed that if she took the dismissal and walked away, the man she was coming to admire as a teacher and friend would see her as something in his way. Add in a small dose of her pride and walking away was not even a choice.

No, she had to walk a fine line now.

As he moved to stand, Delilah took that moment to reach for and grab onto the bag of supplies he had been carrying. Her face was still soft but only one tear escaped down her right cheek before she was able to plaster a smile on it. Still glancing towards the ground she whispered."This stupid war..."

When she finally looked up, her express was mute. "To address something and get it out of the way, leaving is not an option when one is already part of it." She added blankly. "You have grown bored and dismissed me but I cannot let you walk home alone in this cold. Hannah would never forgive me." This last part was added with a smile.

Inhaling slowly Delilah watched him, waiting for him to lead but her eyes falling to his chest once more before shooting back to those firey orange eyes. "Quenton, all the world has problems. We are just stuck in a city that appears to be fighting one as old as time. By the end of it, if not sooner, everyone here will be involved one way or another I am sure. Something caused it to come to Destiny City out of the entire world as well as caused every senshi and agent to gather here to fight a war started because two people feel in love." She knew she was admitting more than she had hoped to ever say but she would not dare say her other name. At least she could protect him that much.

"I was once told the moon might have answers." She sighed looking up towards the sky as if this was just a passing comment. Though it was daylight, she could still picture space beyond. When her gazed turned back towards him, she only sighed and shook her head with a smile.. "You are an difficult man."

The smiling while crying thing was a flag of unsettling possibilities, but if she lacked the coping mechanisms to actually deal with the situations that were going to come of involvement it would be, per force, cut short. Her addition of 'agent' to their shared wordlist was both an affirmation of his suspicions and he thought an offer of truce.

'Difficult' was a benign, polite way of putting him all things considered. Quenton looked at her hand holding the bag, deciding that arguing her taking it belittled the gesture. "Thank you for grabbing that. I've heard that evaluation before, though usually less politic phrasing."

The name Hannah was of interest, drawing his attention as they started to walk, or at least she walked and he hobbled along. His thoughts associations with the name were an amused, positive reflection- Hannah. Acrucis? She is pushy when she things someone needs to be taken care of.

"Is Hannah roughly your age, pale periwinkle hair to her hips and large blue eyes?"

Surprisingly, she wasn't really shocked that he had heard that description before after all that had just passed. Still, she would not have called him worse.

But the sudden questions about Hannah made Delilah edgy. She knew that Hannah did not know Quenton prior to her leaving town so how could they have? It was then she remembered the hospital band. It was a possibility but something still struck her as odd. Hannah hadn't been in for a bit.

"She is. Have you two had the pleasure?"

"I believe we have. I can't imagine there's a large population of Hannah's in the world by precisely that description. She'd probably call me the same thing."

Refusing to go to the hospital at the time and having her help put me back in one piece the first time. "Is she well? I haven't seen her in a while. Too long to be comforted that 'no news is good news'."

If this is the friend that had covered for Acrucis, she might put two and two together about who I am. Which tells me more. If she doesn't, or doesn't say anything to reveal the fact, then Hannah hasn't shared Acrucis with her. Maybe. There's no easy way to know how much that friend, Phact, or any others that are helping Acrucis, would have been told- any descriptions of Thraen, the name at all, and the magic would interrupt recognition probably. He paused momentarily to take a deep breath, knowing that the sharpness of his so-called wit was slipping. The very day of release from the hospital was no day for playing games so soon. He missed the endurance and energy of health badly, having all spent in the adrenaline moments of initially suspecting she might be an agent. Now, if she ended up being as much, it would be the easiest starseed harvest ever.

Troublesome.

Nodding slowly, Delilah only listened as she tried to piece things together. So not in the hospital then because if it had been recent, he would not have said it had been awhile. She already knew Quenton was a man to get to the point.

"If Hannah calls you difficult then that is saying something." She smiled at the thought of her friend getting frustrated with someone. Not something she had seen all that often. "But she is doing well. Trying to stay out of trouble as always." Delilah really did not know how much she could say. Was he one of the few to know she was sick? It was not her place to say though if he didn't so she would wait for him to ask otherwise. Hannah was living as normal a life as possible and Delilah would not ruin that for her.

"But if you don't mind me asking, how do you two know each other?" She causally dropped. As a life time friend, she earned that much right to be blunt.

"I refused hospitalization, she refused to leave my side. " A situation not too dissimilar. Crossing the road to the old apartments felt like being an old man with a kind girl scout.

"Do you have an ID on you? There's a security guard in the lobby that requires them. Under 18 visitors are required to leave by 8pm." Not that he expected she was going to be staying so long, if she chose to stay at all. "I make no promises for the state of the place- its been a month. My cousin stopped by once to get clothes for me, but I expect she left the rest as it was- which is to say my music sheets all over the table and my plants and the window likely dead."

What he said struck somewhere in Delilah's memory banks. Hannah had mentioned to her awhile ago about finding someone and staying with them over night. That mention had resulted in her crossing over roof tops and breaking into Hannah's home to cover for the girl. But that had been a...

There was no way.

"I do." Delilah felt herself answer as she put together what it would mean if Quenton and Thraen would one in the same. Then everything he said would have made complete sense and his finish. His wondering about her. With her mind going a thousand miles a minute, she almost missed the last part.

"I'm not a professional maid by any means but I can help straighten up some. Recovery always seems to happen better and faster when the place is clean." She walked up and opened the door for him. "After you...." her eyes locked onto him as she whispered when he moved past her "Thraen."

Acrucis mentioned speaking with the enemy, but it would have to be some sort of special foolishness for her to have said both a powered and a civilian name to one. Its so low a chance...Delilah couldn't have head it elsewhere. She must be safe.

Quenton didn't flinch to hear his name on whisper. He did nod succinctly, silently, and lifted his hand to the security guard. There were pleasantries and a sign in sheet offered for her with time of entry entered. Delilah was given an explanation of the under-18 hours.

The elevator wasn't far, and Quenton waited to say anything until they were safely alone in it. He leaned against the wall, supporting himself with the handrail that ringed the inside walls. "It is the same Hannah. Did she use the descriptor 'difficult' when she told you?"

Once inside, Delilah's smile could have had many means as she nodded politely at the guard, fished out her ID, signed in, and promised to be out by 8pm. Over night was not her plan anyway. No matter what came of this, Quenton still needed to rest and recover.

Leaning up against the back of the elevator, she listened to the floors tick by for a moment before giving a sigh. The girl that came back to her after taking care of this man was wore, tired, and scared. Delilah had not left her home until she was sure Hannah was asleep. Little good that did... "She didn't have to. I was waiting for her when she got back and outside of smelling like bleach and cleaning supplies, I haven't seen her that worn out..."

Delilah looked over at him softly. "You really scared her. She thought you died and that appears to be staying with her." Pointing at her own chest, she asked "Did this come at the same time as the back injury?"

"No, that happened months ago that we met. This was at the beginning of February. I've been laid up a month about, " The doors opened at the correct floor, and he hobbled out into the antique hall and down what felt like forever to his door. Thankfully, he'd prepared and had the keys already handy and in a pocket of the pj pants.

The door opened, he led in and left it open to invite her in, "Let me get the lights. "

It was as he expected- his composition work papers were all over the small table, the plants looked dead in the window. The rest was just stale, but clean. He didn't own much except art, art supplies and books, and those all had homes generally on the shelves or walls. Besides, it was an efficiency, so the place was small, all in one 'room'. At least Stroud hadn't left any of the clothes drawers that were nested in the bed frame open. "There's water or tea."

He hobbled in the kitchen pulling out at two glasses, waiting for an answer. He was thirsty, if nothing else- hospitals were death of dryness and the walk didn't have any fountains. Not that they'd be running this time of year. "The bag can go next to the bed. I don't expect I'll leave it much."

Which, thinking about, he slowly rummaged the empty fridge for the brita pitcher and refilled it. He'd want that handy to the bed as well if he was planning on not having to get up. " I tried to reassure her at the time that I was alright. I'd hoped that keeping my own calm, and being able to get her through the steps would have been enough. I guess not, if its as you say."

"She may be too tender-hearted for war. It isn't a bad thing, but it is unfortunate. "

Waiting a few seconds, Delilah slipped in through the open door before turning around to shut it gently. Quenton had been correct that some things showed neglect but it she believed that the sparseness helped in keeping it appear both clean and cold.

After placing her own bag by the door frame, Delilah slipped passed the table and moved to place the bag next to the bed. When she stood up, her hands moved to fluff his pillows and turn down the bed. Just something simple. "Tea please." Her response finally came when she was satisfied the dust was off the covers and areas around the bed.

"Hannah has gone through quite a bit in her life." Her words were soft, full of carrying as she turned from the bed and moved towards the table gazing down at the papers. "Signs of reassurance are normally a good thing for her. I am sure she was impressed though that you could keep your calm with such injuries."

"But she is still going strong and always getting into trouble. I threatened her with a GPS before." Delilah smirked at the thought. "Though doubt fills her mind. Hannah does not believe she is strong enough to help anyone." She finally looked back at him. "She is her own worst enemy. But I still adore her." With a shrug, she moved to brush off a chair.

"But I don't think any of us expected to become part of a war. Especially one when the leaders are missing." She shrugged and gazed towards the fallen plants. With a small chuckle, Delilah slowly shook her head. "Guess this means causal conversations are over now? It gets harder and harder to separate the two worlds."

Getting the kettle filled and on was the work of a moment. He stayed facing the wall, hands straddling the sink to support tensed shoulders. She needn't see the wry smile. Am I the only one who realized that the 'casual' anything was over the moment it was war and not a game? 'reassurance'. 'expectation'. 'separate worlds'.

He wanted to slap ever single one of these simpering, entitled teenagers and scream at them that It. Wasn't. Separate. It wasn't exceptional either- it was first world post modernism that taught them they deserved prom dates and weekend sales at department stores, pizza outings and homework. This wasn't the only or first war going on in the world, it was just the one happening with magic and in their home city. His voice came quiet, looking over his shoulder through his bangs, "Does it occur to no one else that missing leaders just means raising up new ones? "

"When thirty to sixty percent of the population of Europe died in The Black Death, was it limited to the yeoman and serfs? New nobility came from the crusades, from the merchants, from all the people and classes that remained. "

There are three princesses out there, marked with power. There are dozens of us in general. It is easy enough to order ourselves and rally behind what we determine our best leaders not as 'teams' but as true courts. As squads, battalions, armies. You could be a leader if you had the charisma, the strategic knowledge, and the raw strength.

He lifted his hand and wiped it from brow down to chin. "You are welcome to casual life and conversation. Hannah is welcome to both. You have repeatedly and blatantly ignored my tries to redirect to exactly such. I still don't know where you were looking to go. I'd offer to take you around on a tour, even, but I can't walk so far. It's going to take me a bit to build up again. "

The water was boiling, so he retrieved it before the kettle binged- poured a small amount to prep the small teapot, poured that out, put in the tea and set it to steeping with water.

At first, Delilah was stunned by his words. The tone, the weight the carried, the meaning they had. She appeared shocked but slowly, her own smile began to form. Crossing from the chair towards the kitchen, she leaned against the counter and faced him. "I always admire how well you can show me that history is repeating itself." And it was true. What he said made her think. Delilah appreciated that.

"Though you are right and I will not deny it. It was I who kept pushing on this side of things. A nasty habit I have started to pick up. But I enjoy learning, as you said, why people are fighting and what they are fighting for. I have found the senshi are as you said before. They fight for family, loved ones and life. The agents appear to fight for power, glory, and personal safety. The question then comes down to who is not only willing to give more but to stay true to their cause."

"As towards the way of leaders, I do not think rank matters but just someone that people are willing to stand behind." Her thoughts went back to the convention. The reason she had talked...that she had fought for that door and to speak. The reason she did not attack the nega until they threatened others. Maybe some part of her did want to lead.

She pushed off the counter and motioned towards the chair. "Please sit. I worry you are pushing yourself too hard and I would hate to explain why I was bringing you back to the hospital so soon."

"And to answer your belated, I was going to the design studio. Best to make myself familiar with the campus before it is full of freshman. So I will take you up on a tour when I am sure you have recovered. But for now, I hope you have a selfish bone in your body to sit. Can I get you anything to eat?"
