As Ronen got hit again, Arissa decided that Ronen was taking damage a lot faster than he was dealing it, and she needed to change that. "Ronen, protect yourself again with Ancient Power!"
Ronen hunched in his shell a little and concentrated, allowing an aura of age to toughen his shell again.

Arissa couldn't help smiling at the Vulpix wagging her tails. It wasn't a bad idea, but a bit late; it could be easily countered now. "Once more, honey," she told Ronen.
Ronen briefly lost his focus when he saw the pretty tails swaying back and forth, but his trainer's voice brought him back to attention. He went back to concentrating on his attack and quickly rebuilt the protection he'd momentarily lost.

Ronen squeaked when he saw the big wave of dark energy flying toward him, and squinted his eyes shut. But the attack was largely deflected by his shell, leaving him blinking and looking unhurt.
"You're doing great, keep at it," Arissa cheered Ronen. He happily raised more rocks and sent them flying at Verya.

Arissa saw the flames floating toward Ronen and quickly called, "Another Safeguard!"
Ronen reformed the shimmering dome around himself just in time for the flamed to fizzle harmlessly against its surface.

Ther attack once again struck Ronen to little effect. Arissa thought the battle looked to be going well for them.
Ronen didn't even need instructions at this point, and sent more rocks flying towards Verya.
