"Not much in term of tangible preparations." There was no need for food and water for either of them, thankfully. Obviously consuming anything they might find down there - if there even was anything of the sort - would be a bad idea at least for her. Much like Persephone and the pomegranate, there was no telling what might happen. "There are simply things you need to be aware of."
How was he supposed to explain this ? This was not something he liked to think about, for the most part. "I have... not told you the whole truth. Neither of us, actually. Though on my part, I did not know any better for a long time." No place to go but forward, honestly. "As you know, my wings do not work down in there. They will look broken, but I will be fine. It is not painful. Only an annoyance. But the reason for that is that... Nergal used his own wings to... Create me. They are linked. I fly the skies aboves. He flies his own realm." He exhaled. There. He had said it.
"I did not remember until that night where Gungnir was linked back to me... It was one of the memories that were linked to it. His first words to me were 'You are my brother.' Whatever the reason why, Nergal wanted it that way. Now... I think I understand why a little better."
If the two Underworlds were always at odds, then perhaps he had been created as... a replacement. It explained how he might have little memories of Valyrmora then. If she had withdrawn to her own realm before he came to be...
"I have no idea if he ever remembered any of it." Nergal had been gone by the time he had known, and Underworld had never spoken any of it to him. "...And with him gone, it seemed useless to dwell on this. But then came Valyrmora... Who only had one brother. She remembered. She seems to remember more of me than I of her."

Cosine listened to him carefully, she knew there had been something strange there, something that did not quite fit. Whether it had been hints from Ankou himself as he came to realise his past or from Valyrmora. It made sense perhaps. "So ... Nergal is your father?" That was interesting. "I once looked upon him as a father of sorts, though I think perhaps that was more something from my host. Do you think that he made you unable to fly to control you?" If he had lost one sibling to anger he would not want to lose the son he created surely.

"That would... be the closest way to put it, I figure." Deep down he certainly did not feel that way, but the facts were there.
Her next question gave him pause. This was not something he had honestly thought about, to be honest. "I do not think so." He said after a moment. What uses would there be when he could walk worlds and leave as he wished anyway ? He knew that there were areas in the old Underworld from which he had no access, like his and Kore's private chambers, but these could simply be warded.
"It was not like it kept me from leaving." If that was the point, then it had backfired horribly. "But we might never know for sure."

Cosine gave a nod of understanding. "Then we will be as we were." She replied with a smile. "We will walk, and perhaps discover some more things about yourself and the realm. More secrets?" Nergal kept his cards close to his chest. "We will gather some new stories for the children. The Underworld is their legacy too. Kyrie and Isidore in particular."

His lips quirked. "Perhaps." Like the proverbial heroes who stormed the Underworld in search from their passed beloved, or artifacts of yore. It was a very strange way to look at it, at least for him.
"I will take them down to see it themselves... once they are older, and once Valyrmora had time to make some headway with it." Things as they were now were... Well... probably disappointing.

Cosine smirked at that. "Yes, I think they would be expecting something rather ... awe inspiring knowing our children." Though she was happy with that, they would always have some sense of wonder she hoped. "When should we leave do you think?"

"Better to see if Valyrmora can remember anything. That will tell us if we will need to try and figure out how to get in or not."
That would, indeed, be good to know. "Beyond that... Whenever you are ready." He certainly was not picky about those things, after all.

"Well, I will make sure there are enough people to wrangle the children, though of course Kyrie can take care of herself now, I still don't entirely trust her brother and sister not to convince her to allow them to do something wild." Yes she knew her children well. "Val will be here I suppose."
