The laughter this time was wry, even as she smiled and explained, "Well he certainly doesn't think so." America gave Stryker a spin, but the flail missed Maebe by a close margin.

"Well he-" Caution, little one. Maebe felt her throat close up when Thaw admonished her for the scathing words she was about to unleash. It was only because his reasons were the kind that appealed to her - he knew she didn't want America on her bad side. Thaw was starting to learn how to convince Maebe to do the right thing - even if it was for the wrong reasons. ".. Isn't as smart as I thought he was, if that's true." Or maybe he's just lying for his own selfish needs, She quietly gossiped to Thaw. She would believe that a lot faster then the idea that Taym wasn't smart. A sly little smile kissed her features, when America's miss left an opening too irresistable to ignore. The trident plunged in, taking her hard. HP: 18 Damage: 6

"I don't think smart has much to do with it, all said,"America answered honestly. "But I appreciate your good taste nonetheless," she continued with a cheeky grin. The strike had her stumbling back sharply, forcing her to shift her stance and balance.

Neither do I.Maebe's grin flashed, bright and playful, when she was complimented. "Thank you for giving me a taste, to judge. It was delicious." She didn't seem conflicted about making amorous innuendos while diving her trident right into America's middle, grunting as she put all of her force into the thrust. She walked forward, following the staff with her hands as she inched closer. "I really want to see you again." The whisper only came when she was close enough to breathe it against America's cheek. She had no trouble expressing just how badly she wanted it. "I hope you'd accept an encore." HP: 18 Damage: 7

America's breathe drew short from both the strike but more from the proximity and invitation. Eyes dark, she took in Maebe with a smile. The girl didn't dismiss her weapon, but neither could she bring herself strike, going so far as to hold the bladed ball away from the other girl's shield. When she spoke there was both a laugh and a challenge curling around the edges of her voice, "Are you intending to make me yield, Miss Maybe?" hp: 9 dmg: 0

Maebe pulled the trident loose, turned it, and slid the hilt against America's thigh. With a dark, subdued whisper, she promised; "Most definitely."And then the hilt disappeared, only to land on America's side. A love tap. HP: 18 Damage: 4

The blonde drew her in with that subtle slide and whisper, but the tap startled both the girl and the weapon in her hand. A thankfully small fireball shot out from Stryker and hit the ground behind Maebe. The resulting explosion only served to impressively backlight the blonde, her hair waving dramatically. It also may have broken a window. And singed the frame.
"s**t," America hissed, desummoning her weapon and grasping Maebe's arm. 'Let's go let's go let's go!"

Maebe did not flinch when the weapon fired, but she did turn once the explosion went off to look at it. She'd just barely seen the window go out before she was pulled forcefully back, stumbling towards America. She let out a sharp, free laugh, even as America dragged her away from the mayhem. It was beautiful. She wanted to stay and find out whose window they'd destroyed, but it felt so good to run away with her. Like.. almost like.. Like she was normal again. For the time being, until she felt herself again, she let herself be dragged anywhere America wanted to go.

They ran, looking like no more than two girls just barely edging into womanhood, leaving the impression of vibrant colour and soft, bright laughter in their wake. There was a lightness to it, nothing like the daily runs, nowhere near the storm. Maebe was fierce in her own way, but she wasn't a hurricane, an emotionless destructive force for America to pit her against. No, Maebe was the sort of spring shower you wanted to go out and dance in it, that made the world feel lush and ripe and yours for the taking.
Eventually they ran into a copse of tree, America suddenly stopping and spinning into the other girl, becoming a tangle of hair and limbs, and giddy, panting little giggles. "Oh my god," she gasped out, both pleased and aghast that Maebe had made her blow her charge like that.

Maebe's skin felt hypersensitive. It burned where America touched her, and she laughed when the adrenaline spiked within, leaving her giddy and flushed. She could hear America's laughter mingling with hers, and she was reminded of some distant, unrealistic scene in a movie. All they needed was some terribly overplayed music backing the moment, and the facade would be complete. I don't wanna wait. For our lives to be over. She'd turned her head away the moment America turned, so she never stopped. America's body was soft and yielding as she slammed into it. She let out a high pitched yelp, and grabbed a hold of her, toppling down together. The giggles escaping the redhead became infectious, but only after a minute. Maebe was silent first, registering the feel of life thrilling through the girl in her arms. And then the giggles came, as if that light had wormed its way into her. She laughed, unable to stop, and flopped helplessly on the ground in a fit of laughter. She didn't even know what she was laughing about. None of this was funny. None of it.

Every time she tried to explain, America found the words caught up in a fresh wave of laughter, until finally she gave it up. It was a silly joke, juvenile and what Taym'd probably call crass. But even if she held it to herself, it would still be something she enjoyed, that she could take out later and feel that thrill of private mirth.
Eventually the sound of America's laughter faded, though the joy of it was clear in her expression as she curled up next to Maebe on the grass. Looking at the other girls face she had a sly, pleased grin, "Hey."

Maebe's laughter was short lived, but her body still shook every so often, as a soft shudder of giggles took her. She could hear America settling down beside her, and her arms slid around the girl, possessively embracing that small, but luscious body. All she had to do was smile like that, and Maebe was ready. Her own small, knowing smile beamed down. America was bright colors on a green canvas. Maebe realized she was the kind of girl Maebe loved to look like. The kind of girl you wanted, because she free, completely free, and yet you still believed you could make her yours.(They never could.) She dipped her head down, pressing soft and wet lips against hers. She tasted something sweet in America's kiss, and made believe it was peaches, and not the taste of tender, willing flesh. When she pulled away, she licked her lips. "Hey, yourself."

America smiled into the kiss, lips parting to give way just as Maebe pulled back and putting truth to her next words, "I yield."
