Jennie grinned, thoroughly pleased with her auction win. It seemed odd that it had gone totally uncontested, since wow, Arilee was even prettier up close. It wasn't often she actually thought of someone in those terms, but it would be nice to take a break from being an angry person and have a nice time for an evening, especially with a really, really gorgeous woman who would never have to know about what her alternate plans for the evening would have been.
She paid her bid, feeling her mother's eyes on her back the entire time. This was going to result in a good, long talk, she supposed, with her devoutly Catholic mother, asking why she'd chosen a date with another girl over all the handsome specimens of masculinity on offer. (Ugh.) Oh well, she doubted her mother would prevent her from taking an evening out, one she had actively encouraged, especially since she already had the opportunity to make plans with her date.
She gave Arilee a smile, tucking a strand of hair that had come loose from her bun behind her ear. "So, what's a good time for you?" She asked, her New Orleans drawl thick in her voice. "I can talk to my mom and figure out when I'm free from work - she, uh, owns the restaurant I work at, y'see."Avacyn sighed. Some of the other auctions were already over, and here she was, still lonely and without a bidder. It was actually a little depressing, to think that nobody yet wanted to bid on her. Oh well, maybe she'd just have to wait it out? She was cute, right? Somebody would totally want to throw down a little money to get a free date with her!
Yeah, that would be what she had to keep telling herself. The longer she repeated that, the better she would feel. Somebody was going to bid on her, it was just a matter of time.
Totally just a matter of time.Destiny City I'd like to leave Ava's auction open! <3

So far, no bids were placed on her. While Jade was perfectly content of spending the night alone on Valentine's Day, right now she actually wanted someone to bid on her, preferably high if all possible. Leaving here with no bid at all would mean she had failed to give out a good impression and that was not Jade wanted to happen.
She did a quick check out and made sure her make-up and a navy lace dress she was wearing was perfect and waited. She looked calm but there was a hint of a nervousness in her eyes if anyone looked closely.Destiny City I would like to leave Jade's auction open. <3

The possibility of no one bidding had never once crossed Arilee’s mind as she’d first taken her place on the stage amongst all the other pieces of civic-minded meat. If she got bid on, she did and if not, well, that was cool too. Either way, she’d been planning on making an anonymous donation to the city commission. Still, her heart had done an odd little flip when she’d seen Avacyn step up onto the stage. Only then did she wish that she’d had the foresight to strongarm one of their mutual friends into bidding just so Ari could be sure some creep didn’t end up winning her precious Ava. Ugh, hindsight.
Still, she couldn’t help but find the bidding kind of interesting. Especially as there didn’t seem to be any bidding wars going on. On the one hand, Ari was pretty sure that made for a nice, polite auction. On the other hand, clearly Groundhog Day had lied to her as far as charity people auctions went. She’d kind of wanted to see people go crazy a little bit. Seriously disappointing.
For a moment, she debated actively flirting while she was on stage, just to see if that would provide the desired bidding war, but decided against it. She really didn’t feel like being publicly branded as a trouble maker. Instead, she contented herself with simply watching as her stage-mates recieved bids. Humming softly to herself, she leaned back a little in her chair and smoothed out the sleeve of her sweater. She wondered if she looked strange to the people in the audience with her mohawk and facial piercings combined with a demure, cream colored sweater, dark brown suede skirt and matching knee high boots.
And then, just as she was getting bored and rethinking her stance on causing trouble, someone bid on her. Shooting Avacyn an apologetic look as she was led off to meet her date, Arilee wished again that she'd known before hand that Ava had been planning on putting herself up for auction. Well, she'd make it up to her somehow. In the meantime, she had to admit that the winning bidder was pretty damned hot. Okay, not as hot as Ava is her clearly biased mind, but still. And that accent. Unf.
Grinning cheerfully, she shrugged a little.
“Truth? Just about anytime works for me. I don’t really have a job or school to worry about, so my schedule’s pretty open.”
Okay, so that was a little lie, but really, the Dark Mirror Court could do without her services for one night.
“That’s pretty cool though. Your family owning a restaurant, I mean. Which one?” she asked, curiosity shining brightly in her sunset eyes. Well, so far her date seemed all right. As long as she didn’t end up being a creeper, Arilee supposed there were worse way to spend time.Meanwhile, out in the audience, Alodie Sambrook had been debating the last few hours as to whom she wanted to bid on. So many cute people! And while she didn’t expect to find her ONE TWOO WUV in the mix of people on stage, she was hopeful that she could at least manage a new friend. To that end, she’d been reading through the offered dates very carefully to find one that had as few romantic tendencies as possible. And she’d pretty much settled on the one she wanted to try bidding for.
Smiling happily, she raised her hand and called out, “Avacyn Zak, please!”
Okay, so maybe she wasn’t as savvy at auctions as some, but really. saying please had never hurt. And if Avacyn Zak heard her, maybe the please would reassure the other girl that she wasn’t some weird ***** or something. And really, a cute, nerd date did sound like so much fun! Maybe Avacyn wouldn’t mind including alien stuff in the nerdy category. Bouncing a tiny bit in anticipation, Alodie twirled a strand of shockingly bright lime green hair around her forefinger.
Hey. Whoa. Slow down there, girly, she scolded herself silently. You could still be outbid. Just relax and see what happens before y’start to plan on anything. Oh, but it was hard to be still and wait. Alodie just wanted to hug everyone for being so damned cute.
Really. It was kind of unfair to have so many cute people in the room and not be allowed to run around hugging them all.

Oh, God, what had she been thinking?
Harmony watched as some of the other auctions ended rather quickly, some with competitive bidding, and felt the tendrils of humiliation start creeping into her belly as she sat waiting without a bidder. It turned her stomach to ice as she panicked that she was not as cute or popular as some of the others, her date not fancy enough. Maybe she was pretty much the only person in the world that thought photography was a fun date.
Beautiful. So completely brilliant. She took a night off from her school and job lives to try and have some fun only to be shot down. Her step brother would give her no end of grief if he ever found out about this and she hoped beyond hope that Nathan was too cool to ever drop in on something like this.
With concerted effort the mint haired girl closed her eyes, drew in and let out a deep breath and tried to force the nerves from her mind. Worrying about it wasn't going to attract anyone or change the night's outcome. It was with that in mind that she put a smile on her lips once more and simply waited for the prospective someone she knew was out there somewhere.Destiny City I'd like to keep Harm's auction open

Cherry had stood there watching and observing. She had never participated in something like this before. Normally, actual dates weren't something she did much of either. When she had heard about this, she immediately jumped at the chance to try and see what would come of it. If noone bid on her, that'd be ok. A lot of people involved tonight were considerably younger than herself. She hoped that didn't make her seem old. Some people get early midlife crises when they turn 27 or 28 thinking they suddenly feel so old. For her to actually consider herself old though, nope. That wouldn't happen. Well, she was already here and in it. Even if it was too quiet and not desirable results; she'd stay. She'd see this through till it was over. Then, she would go find a bar or something. Destiny City You can leave her auction open.

Lily sat at her table excited, for a few reasons. One she had never been to something like this, second he brother was one of the bachelor's so she was excited for him and three the whole atmosphere was exciting which lended to her excitement. Watching everyone come out she listened thoughtfully to the date more so than looking at who which date went to. Some were rather extravagant, but she had to say she prefered the idea of simpler dates, ones less romantic especially when one was going out with a stranger.
She intended to bid herself though she was still unsure. She hadnt been on many dates to begin with so she wasn't exactly well versed in them and two she wasn't sure she was quite ready for a new romance. The bidding started and she hesitated wanting to bid, but also wanting more of a friendly encounter than anything.
It was crazy how fast some of the other's were scooped up, but the girl with the home cooked meal sat without a bid and Lily thought her idea of a date sounded really fun and she enjoyed the less romantic aspect of it. She didn't know how good idea it was to have dinner at someone you we're only just meeting's house, but the girl seemed nice enough. She raised her hand, calling out to bid for Harmony Rosen, with a smile happy to be putting her money to good use. She was sure her boss would appreciate her helping the business owners and Lily might just make a new friend!

When Terry was lead from the stage he felt nervous. He had only been in the auction thanks to his older brother signing him up for it but so far it hadn't been bad and he, not his brother, had chosen what date he would take the person on. He was dressed in a nice pair of slacks and a slightly dressier sweater then normal, having planned to keep casual just in case the date would happen the same day. The nervousness died down slightly when he saw Ulane and he gave a smile. "Hello, I'm Terry." He said with a nod.

Sadly, most of the lovely ladies up for auction were gone by the time Elijah got to the charity auction. Dang Chester and his little 'odd jobs'. His employer seemed to delight in sticking him with the stupid, menial stuff whenever he felt like he wanted a chuckle... though the young man conveniently ignored the fact that he had probably been goofing off or something to earn those menial tasks.
So, when he finally got there, his choices were limited and he hurried to throw up a bid on a girl he chose more or less at random, because she looked pretty and maybe the kind to want to have some fun. Lifting his hand, Elijah bid on Cherise Clayborne and crossed his fingers that she liked tall, British men who perform acrobatics for a living.

It could have ended up much worse.
She could have not gotten a bid, which would have been embarrassing and a blow to her ego, or worse... she could have been 'purchased' by someone old or fat or ugly or just...not up to her standards. So she wasn't the first to be chosen, nor even the highest bid. So she didn't inspire a bidding war - her secret hope- but all in all, it wasn't a total waste.
A quick toss of her head, and running her hands through her hair to make sure she was presentable enough, she followed one of the people roped into assisting with the auction out of the lounge to the side of the room where her 'date' was waiting.
She gave him a quick once over before even reaching him, seeing hair color and skin tone, considering and discarding the outfit ideas she had planned out after signing up for this event. With his coloration earth tones were probably the way to go... more green and cream than brown so they wouldn't look ridiculous together. Maybe with hints of silver...
'Hi, I'm Lianna.' Friendly and direct seemed to be the best choice. He was a stranger, and after the whole auction thing, flirting wasn't on her mind. That could wait until the date. If they could agree on a time. She really should have thought this through a little better. Her schedule was kind of restrictive...
'So I do have a pretty busy schedule, Wednesdays and Sundays are my only days off, until the end of the semester, so if either day is unacceptable, you can wait a few weeks until the semester is over or cancel this completely. It's up to you.'

Arias flashed a hasty, only slightly awkward smile when Lianna approached. He extended a hand, trying to ensure this was as absolutely normal an abnormality as possible. "Arias," he introduced.
When it came to actually making plans, he wasn't entirely sure if it wasn't a discrete way of her telling him she wasn't interested, but he stayed optimistic. "I can do Wednesdays or Sundays. I've got a malleable schedule, so I can work with anything. My number is, ah—well, I can give that to you, if it helps."
Which, of course it would, because if something happened he would want to make sure they could get in contact with each other, so it was a stupid sentence and he felt his cheeks heating up in slight embarrassment. He sighed at himself, but the smile returned to his face shortly after. "Anyway, it's nice to meet you. I hope this whole thing isn't as awkward for you as it is for me. I don't really make a habit of coming to things like this—or bidding on dates—but you know how it is. What's life without trying a few new experiences?"
…Or was he just sounding creepy now?
Only briefly did Arias worry that this whole thing had been a mistake, but he reminded himself that it was probably best that he stick to his own words; what was life without trying a few new experiences? And could he really afford to worry about something like this? At least he was getting out, trying new things. Trying to be normal. Even if he wound up embarrassing himself, it was worth it to get out of the house, right?
"So, if you're up to it, I'd enjoy a night out."

"It's called Jennie's Place; creole and cajun food," Jeanne beamed with pride talking about her mother's restaurant. "My mama's probably the best cajun chef in Destiny City." Alright, so maybe there was a little bit of ego there, but she had a lot to be proud of with her family's place.
"We can go out whenever you feel like it - tonight, even, I'd say." She cast a glance over at her mother, who made a very exasperated face and waved a hand in a 'please, go' sort of gesture.Ava's head jerked up when she heard someone call out a bid for her, and she scanned the crowd before her eyes fell on the one who had done so. Alright, so she wasn't Arilee, but she was still kinda cute, and she looked really enthusiastic. There could certainly be worse people to be stuck with!
So she was actually pretty excited to go meet her date, because it was a low-key sort of evening anyway and if this was the type of person who felt that was a really excellent date worth paying money just to go on, then it was probably her type of person anyway. And hey, nothing said it had to be romantic - it could just be a friendly date-chat!
So she was smiling when she met the girl who had bid on her, brushing her hands over her cute jeans and ruffly top.
"So, uhm, hey, it's really nice to meet you!"

Arilee had caught the sideways glance, though she hadn't been able to tell who exactly it was directed at. Still, the older lady waving was a fairly good guess. She wasn't quite sure what was going on there, but who cared.
"So, your mom's name is Jennie, then? she asked instead. "Don't think I've ever had cajun before. I'll have to give it a try."
And while she would have liked a chance to wait on going out, she had to admit that going out right now wasn't a bad idea. It just meant she could get back to Ava a little sooner.
"Tonight works peachy for me. But, I think I should probably know who it is I'm going out with," she added with a low chuckle. Good job, Ari. Good job not even asking for your date's name before making plans.
------------------
Still grinning, Alodie threw a friendly arm around Avacyn’s shoulder and gave her a half-hug in greeting.
“Oh my god, you are just precious. And your hair is amazing. I’m Alodie by the way and I promise that I’m not gonna ask anything romantic of you.”
Well, she’d try to keep that promise anyway. But since her money was going to a good cause and she was getting a New Friend out of this, she wasn’t going to risk screwing it up. Instead, she kept her arm where it was and thoughtfully kept Avacyn fro being jostled too much by the crowd.
“So my schedule is pretty wide open,” she said rapidly. “Really, whenever you want to do this, it’s fine with me.”
Okay, so she had a re-enactment coming up and band practice, but they could suck it. She had a date with a cute girl! And she was reasonably sure that her friends would understand. What else, oh yeah, she was babysitting, but she’d just blackmail Melian into doing it for her. It was useful to have a blackmail-able cousin. And really, she might not even have to resort to that depending on when Avacyn wanted to go out. Still smiling, she did a little shimmy of happiness. This was gonna be great!

Quinn silently watched the madness that was this auction. As far as he could tell everyone was getting bids and he watched as the MC kept calling out 'sold'. Since they were all called out at once it was hard to tell if he had been bid on or not but as each auctionee was pulled from the stage he found that it was just himself and another girl left.... Jade he believed.
There were still calls being thrown out there for them both but he was geting bored and at this point just wanted it to all end... since neither of the highest bids was what his mother said she was willing to bribe him with... technically it was for the date... he called out loudly "TWO Thousand for myself and Jade." He glanced at the MC and added quietly, "I just really want this sudo meat market to end man."
He turned to Jade and added, "I hope you don't mind. I really wouldn't mind just combining our dates or what ever you want. I just want this to be over you know? If you don't want to its ok." He glanced back at the MC, "Or you know if they don't let me."

The redhead shook her head, laughing a little. "No, not her," she said, "my name's Jennie. Jeanne Boucher, if you want the full thing." She offered Arilee a hand.
Maybe this whole thing wouldn't completely suck. She'd take that.Avacyn laughed. The promise to not ask anything romantic made her way more comfortable. It was just a nerdy friend-date, that was all, and it'd be fun! That was the best part.
"I'm open anytime, too," she said, "though weeknights are easiest." She could easily take an evening off from Court things, but she kind of wanted to reserve her weekends for things with Arilee. You know, just in case.

Jade had been watching quietly the auction running. One by one auctionees left the stage, leaving only her and Quinn behind. Now that the stage got emptier, it seemed they got more attention and interest by their potential dates who called couple rather low bids on them.
She had been bidded by an older man who had been giving her rather dirty looks when her fellow auctionee got enough of this madness and called out his own bid. It was unexpecting but rather pleasant turn of events. If that bid would count, she was sure her night would be saved.
"I don't mind at all," she responded politely when he addressed her. She understood very well his reasons for such action, after all she felt similar feelings more or less. For a moment, her eyes softened a little and there was little sympathetic smile on her lips before she added. "We can agree about details later if your bid is counted."
Please MC. Count that bid.((Yes, I'm seconding this. I'm aware and agree with this.))
