The way she swayed her hips could not go unnoticed, considering how those hips were teasingly close to his own, not to mention the way others looked on. Not that he blamed them- Lianna was a rather attractive young lady and it was one of the many reasons why he extended the offer to spend the rest of the evening with her. He also rather liked the envious expression in their eyes, though to him it didn't matter if the envy was directed towards him or his impromptu date. It was all good as far as Richard was concerned.
He suspected that she wasn't quite as excited to be here as he was, but he wasn't going to be rude and call her out on it. Maybe his idea of a good time was different from hers, or... maybe not, and he was simply stalling them both. If they survived a round of poker, maybe he could find some way of leaving a more favorable impression of this place... and maybe himself as well?
"Poker it is. Now, let's see... there are two seats open on that table," Richard pointed towards the one near the back, recognizing the dealer even from this distance. She ranked a 9 on his scale and the wink she flashed him was the green light to start approaching that table. "I'll go procure some chips, if you wish to make yourself comfortable. Don't worry, I'll cover yours as well. Be right back, dear."

The look Richard shared with the dealer did not go unnoticed, and while she was the one with Richard that night, she wasn't a girlfriend or even all that attached to him for anything other than the chance of having a good time. So she ignored the look. But he definitely went down in her estimation. If you're with someone, even if only for the night, you shouldn't flirt with or pay attention to others unless there is an agreement between the parties or if you changed your mind.
It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if Richard decided to call it quits for the evening. Though they would probably both be haunted by the possibilities of what might have been. And while she would have wasted a good portion of time on him, she could always find another. And to that end, just in case things started to go south, she glanced around the table to look for a likely fall-back. No, no, female so no way in hell, rather die first, too old, eh maybe, possible, maybe. If she got really, really drunk first.
She took one of the two vacant seats, trying to stay as far away from the person next to her as was humanly possible, and prayed that Richard returned soon. If nothing else, he was a good shield against unwanted contact. Blue-grey eyes scanned the crowd. He was coming back wasn't he? God, what was taking him so long. It was only getting some chips. It shouldn't take so much time.
She was starting to feel skittish, completely out of her element. Disconcerted. If he didn't return soon, she would leave this place and test her luck elsewhere...

Unaware of his guests's scrutinizing and disapproving gaze for his flirty wink to the dealer, Richard was as happy as he could be. He's always felt more at home in a casino than he did a club or bar, even if he was dealt with a rotten hand. Dancing and drinking was fun, but he never fancied himself the dancer, but more of the watcher, and occasionally, the gambler. He liked to observe other people's game, and periodically jump in on it, and the look he received from the dealer told him that the table in particular was going to be a hot one. That was exactly the way he liked it!
In his natural environment, it was almost easy to forget that he had come with company, but not once did Richard eve forget about her. He simply got distracted while on his way to pick up the chips, and given the chiming of the crystal in his pocket, it was very, very easy to be distracted. That meant only one thing... someone, somewhere, was requesting his presence. That wasn't entirely true. They were requesting Buddingtonite's presence, and that posed a small problem for Richard, and his guest.
'Do I answer the call of duty and abandon my date, or should I ignore it and risk raising hell with the superiors?' It was a question that haunted him, as he fiddled with the chips that were handed to him. Thankfully there was no one else in line, so there was no one to hassle him for making them wait, but it certainly earned him a baffled expression from the employee. Lianna was a very pretty girl, but last he checked, she didn't have the ability to reach into his chest and pluck out his very essense... "Damn."
He couldn't shirk his duty. That would have just been unheard of for a general, especially one of his stature! He'd never hear the end of it.
Finally, he took his chips and made his way to his date, knowing full well that the news he'd have to tell her would either break her poor, beautiful heart, or free her from the shackles that he may have managed to slip on her. Either way, he could at least provide her with a gift for her time, he figured, and he flashed her a kind, but apologetic smile. "So, you know how doctors have little pagers that go off when they're desperately needed elsewhere? I have a similar situation, so I'm going to need to get going. I'm terribly sorry to be cutting this date short so prematurely, but if you'd like, you can have my chips. Keep the winnings as a reward for putting up with me."
He handed them to her, hoping she'd take them so that he could be on his way before whoever it was that was trying to contact him decided to take the matter into his or her hand and suddenly appeared out of thin air. He rather liked this casino and he didn't want to have to destroy the place if his identity was revealed.
