Isi took a seat on the couch and patted the side of his leg. Scim got up, followed him and flopped down at his feet. They waited, the pair of them for Naomi to reappear. Isidore watched the precise way that she set things down and moved around. She was very calm and neat, it reminded him of his mother a little.
"No thank you. I came out because I like the market place. I like being around people and learning things about them."

"I enjoy the marketplace as well," Nao nodded as she took a seat across from him. "It is easy to get lost there." Lifting her tea, she took a small sip. "Are you wandering the marketplace by yourself today? Or is your father or uncle with you?" she asked. She had to wonder what that might be like, to face death in such a casual, ordinary place as the marketplace.

"Yeah, on my own. I snuck out." He grinned. "My father is away at the moment and I don't know where my Uncle is, I've never met him. My mum was busy today so I didn't want to bother her. Scim looks after me so I'm safe." That was his logic anyway. "I'll be grown up soon." He really hoped this much was true. Kyrie was so lucky.

Nao gave a little laugh as she listened to him and glanced down to the pup at his feet. Despite his appearances, she was certain that Scim would not be one to mess with.

"I wouldn't be in such a hurry to grow up," she smiled and shook her head. "The world is so full of wonder when you are young," she smirked lightly and reached for the plate of cookies to hold out to him. "What sort of things do you do as a god of funerals? I will be honest and admit I have never heard of such a being."

"I can help more people when I am big." He declared as he reached for the tea. Like his mum and his dad, they got to help lots and lots of people. "I don't know what I really do. I know I can make people feel better, not so sad. I hope I can make a place for people to have funerals, somewhere they can celebrate life and death."

"That would be a nice thing. A place in the open to show people that it is okay to be sad and to celebrate the life that was lived," Nao smiled and nodded in understanding. "It would be much better than being tucked away and hiding the fact of life. I never have understood why people find it such a shameful thing," she shook her head. "What kind of things do you like to do Isidore?"

"I like to go on adventures." He said, that was his favourite thing. "With my dad mostly because he goes on exciting adventures all the time. He's really tall and he can walk faster than anyone. I like playing with my sisters too. They're lots of fun. We like playing hide and seek."

Nao smiled warmly at his youthful enthusiasm. She had always enjoyed children, though she had never had the chance to interact with them very much. At least not the ones that were still alive.
"You have sisters? Are they gods like you?" she asked with interest. "How many do you have?"

Isidore nodded eagerly.
"Of course." He replied, how could they not be gods. "My mother is a goddess, she's Number. I have two sisters, Kyrie is the eldest and she's the goddess of Crows and Caelia is little like me and she's the goddess of ... Augury. That's something to do with predicting the future, like mum." He shrugged and sipped his tea. "Do you have any children?" He asked, maybe he could play with them if she did.

Well, that was certainly something, she thought. A goddess of numbers and two young goddesses of such differing domains. She was rather enjoying this conversation with the young god. She was learning so much about the strange world she had come to live in. His next question drew a smile to her lips and she shook her head.

"Sadly, no. Where I came from people like me were viewed as unclean so I was never able to have a husband or children. I enjoy children though. They are so wonderful to be around."

"Oh." He said with a bit of a frown, he really didn't like that idea, that people didn't like her just because she dealt with death and dead people. It really didn't feel fair at all. Especially as she seemed like such a nice lady. "They sound like silly people."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 07, 2014 11:44 am

Nao laughed a little and nodded in agreement.
"Perhaps," she shrugged her shoulder. "But it was our way. It was how we viewed death and all things that were so close to it. Regardless, I enjoy my position. I enjoy what I do. I never feel lonely," she smiled. "Would you like to see where we hold the ceremonies?"

"Oh." he replied, so they were scared people then. He would really have to try hard to make sure that people stopped being scared of death, there was nothing to fear, not really. His Aunt and his dad took good care of the spirits.
"Yes please. I'd like to see. Maybe I can get some ideas."

Nao smiled and reached out to set her tea down on the desk. Rising to her feet, she held her hand out to him. The thought that maybe she should not treat him quite so much like a child crossed her mind, but it was easily ignored. If he did not like it, surely he would say something to her.

Stepping through the door, they entered a small hallway with three doors. One led to the kitchenette, one led to the stairs to her apartment above, and the other, straight ahead, led to her work room. Leading him towards that one, she pushed it open.

"This is where I work to prepare the bodies," she said, her eyes resting briefly on the young man on her table. "Through here is where the families are able to view the body and perform their rituals," she continued, opening yet another door to a comfortably sized room. It was tastefully decorated with moveable pieces to accommodate whomever would be mourned. Low lights sparkled quietly in small crystal light fixtures and the chairs were, again, plush and comfortable.

Isidore followed her through to the back of the shop, he looked to the body of the young man and looked around to see if the spirit still lurked. He didn't see or sense anything so decided that maybe the man's spirit had been taken away for rebirth. The room beyond that one was a nice one. It felt comfortable, caring and that's what people needed.
"It's nice." he said with approval. "A nice place for people."
