Elsa knew she should not force others into befriending her. She needed to be honest about who she was, so this sort of thing didn't happen. But it was so hard for her to start an encounter knowing they were likely going to shun her, or simply shut down and treat her with that distant, even fearful respect that royals can elicit in others. She was not sure which was worse, in a way, but she was gracefully getting used to both as best she could.
She was ready to leave when he spoke again, and she looked at him with a timid, worried expression about her usually passive and regal face, her hopeful eyes glistening. She couldn't help but smile when he said he wanted to keep building the snow lion, though she was worried he would treat her differently. The little snow ball rolled against her leg and she smiled at it, then at him, nodding.
"Well..." she said, blushing under her fur. It was hard to talk about this curse others assumed she had, and she believed, in many ways. She felt like she was an outcast, the only one of her kind, and she tried to deal with this fate she was given one day at a time. Meeting someone that was not scared of her, and did not in turn make her feel scared, was a real treat.
"Thank you, Tikahn. You're a very kind lion... it's nice to be able to relax and have a little fun. I feel... almost normal. You don't have to treat me like a Queen, just pretend you never heard that part if it makes you uncomfortable.

Tikahn was still a bit stiff as Elsa remained silent. He wasn't sure if rolling the snowball towards her had been the best course of action, but it was too late now. He waited with baited breath as she finally began to speak, and relief washed over him with her words. She wasn't mad! Not that she would be...she was very calm and nice and put-together. Tikahn wasn't sure she had a mean bone in her body. It was just that sort of feeling she gave off. Cold, yes, and distant, but not by choice. There was a loneliness to her that he couldn't help but want to chase away. He gave a crooked smile and flattened his ears against his head as she went on. "I don't...know if I can pretend I never heard that part but um...I'll...I'll try to not treat you like one. Even though I think you should be. You...well, ha, I've only known you for a little bit but...you're very nice. And since you came into the title I've enjoyed living here so...you're a good Queen. But. Normal. Right.' He let out a slow breath and shook his head, clearing his throat. It was like acting! He'd heard of the pass time from rouges he had met, and it seemed like a fun thing to do. This Tikahn had never heard of Queen Elsa before, just this nice, friendly Elsa that liked to play in the snow. He could do that! He hoped. "All right...so...we need a tail," he said as he surveyed their lion. "And a face. Which would you like to do?"

Elsa smiled at him shyly, feeling a little awkward, but glad that he did want to remain her friend, even if it was just for now. If they could finish the snow lion, that was all she was really asking from him and all she could hope to expect.
She was more than happy for it, too.
Focusing on this instead, the moment and how happy it had made her, she looked at the lion and bounced toward the snow again. She tilted her head, circling their creation so far. His words about how nice she was and that she was a good Queen were ringing in her head, but she was trying as best she could to not think about that and get flustered or embarrassed.
Her nose felt a little hot, from her blushing, but she ignored that, too.
"I think I could do the face, if you want to get the tail!" She smiled at him and then finished her circling to end up at the front of the snow lion. She sat down and raised up on her back paws a bit, using her forepaws to try and shape the fast, as best as her less than dextrous paws would allow. She spent a lot of time playing in the snow, making structures and designs, so this was not as hard for her as it might have been for others. It only took a little while for her to finish, and she stepped back to admire the finished product.
"It looks like you!" She laughed, looking at him teasingly.

As Elsa took the face, Tikahn turned to busy himself with the tail. Thankfully his less-than-artistic skills didn't show through, since the tail was fairly easy to do. A long lump of snow with a tuft at the end that he did his best to add a little flare to. Tilting his head this way and that and glanced at his own tail from time to time, be finally sat back with a pleased look on his face. Not bad! As Elsa spoke again, he picked himself up and moved to look at the face. He was surprised at how detailed she'd managed to get it. It was like she could manipulate the snow! "It's too perfect to look like me," he said with a laugh, sitting beside Elsa after a little mental coaching. She was the Queen, but he was pretended she wasn't right now. Maybe if he pretended enough the relaxed tone would become habit. "You're very talented," he added, his tail flicking back and forth across the snow in delight. "That looks so real! Even though it's made from snow."

Elsa looked at him and saw how nervous he seemed. She would have to put him out of his misery soon enough. It was selfish to force him to stay there just because she wanted to feel normal. She was very thankful for all his kindness and patience, though, and was feeling happy.
She chuckled and shook her head.
"I've been connected to snow since I was very little. I guess carving the snow to look like things is what I do to relax, or calm myself down. It makes me happy. And playing with you today has been very nice, too. Thank you for helping me build this! I look forward to seeing you in the pride more often now."
She smiled at him and stood, turning and then pausing for a moment to look back at him.
"Thank you," she said again, with a nod. She paused a moment, then scooted away, feeling the need to hurry.

Tikahn gave a soft 'ah' at the explanation, nodding just a bit. He was about to ask her how she even got the little irises in the eyes when the queen stood, and he turned to look at her. The smile was returned before she headed off, leaving him with their snowlion. He wasn't too sure what to do, so he remained in place for a few minutes, watching the Queen walk off. She was nice, he thought to himself as he finally relaxed. Maybe if he saw her again he wouldn't be so nervous. He had just been so caught off guard! Resolved to act better around her next time, Tikahn put a few finishing touches on the snowlion before heading off as well, in search of something else to do.
