For once, James was surprised that Silvia didn't reply to him with a witted remark. Maybe she just decided to ignore me? he thought. He placed the thought to the side as he decided to keep thinking about the case, however Silvia's quietness still lagged in his mind. Sometimes James wondered if it was because of this thickhead that he and Silvia broke up. Honestly he couldn't remember why they broke up in the first place. The man was oblivious to the fact that it also had to do with his stubbornness. He was too stubborn for his own good. For now, the man decided to head home and drink some tea as he figured out what his next step should be. Silvia had some pretty good hints that he didn't so she might quickly catch up to him and go ahead of him if he didn't hurry.

Silvia couldn't exactly think of anything just yet since her mind wasn't completely clear yet. She got up, leaving her fan at her seat, and walked up to a small hidden cabinet. She opened it up to show that it had a few things that James had given to her long ago. She had thrown most of the things away, but very few things she couldn't bring herself to destroy. She didn't understand why, but she just stashed them away and hidden them away from anyone's view. She sighed and closed it again and went back for her fan.

In the quietness and calmness of his house, there was a sudden knock on the door. James was not expecting anyone so it was a complete surprise. "Wonder who it could be?" he said to himself. He placed his cup of tea down and walked to the door. When he opened it he saw no one around. In fact, the entire street was empty. Then who....? he was left wondering before he noticed a small yellow enveloped down by his feet. "What's this...?" The man picked it up, closed the door, and opened the envelope to quickly reveal the content of the letter. ... So is this what you want? A game...? James thought. He wondered if Silvia got one too...

Silvia was deep in thought until she heard a knock on her door, making her jump in her spot. She went to the door and opened it just to find no one was there. She raised an eyebrow until she saw a yellow envelope at her feet. She picked it up and closed the door once she was back inside. She opened it and read the contents of the letter. She raised an eyebrow when she sat down and finished reading it. 'A game, eh? This killer must want to make this whole case a game,' she thought. She looked toward her hidden cabinet then back at the letter. 'Wonder if James got a similar letter.'

The letter said to get ready for the jungle of people and a party... What could that mean? In times like this it was when James remembered Silvia's quick mind to understand puzzles, but this time he couldn't go to her. He hasn't done so in the past 5 years! "A jungle... there isn't a jungle in London or in England... unless he means... the main street!" James quickly grabbed his coat and left his apartment room to head to London's most crowded street. The letter said to be there half an hour after receiving the letter so James had to hurry up. If Silvia had gotten the letter too then James was sure he would see her there as well. Even though he loved teasing her and telling her that she wasn't' good enough, James was very aware of Silvia's incredible abilities as a detective and sometimes he considered her better than him at it.

Silvia looked at her clock and then closed her eyes to put the clues together. 'Hmm...if he says to be ready for the jungle of people and also a party...this is either an invitation or they are talking about a busy place here in London,' she thought, tapping the tip of her fan on her lip. She opened her eyes as fast as she stood up. "That's it! The main street!" she said to herself and grabbed a warm cloak as well a bonnet for the sun. She kept her fan with her and ran out of the house, knowing she only had less than half an hour left to get there. She started to think that if James had the same letter, then he might have figured out where to go and figured she might find him there. On her way there, she realized that the crowd of people also meant that there were going to be lots of mysterious people at a special place.

"You got to be quick on your feet Detective Nicholson. Tick-tock!" There was someone close to James, he knew it because otherwise how was he being able to hear the voice say that?! What the bloody hell does he intend? he wondered. He hoped it wasn't going to be another murder. At the end the voice ended up leading him to a dark alley. I better be quick on my feet. he thought. He could never be too careful, especially since he was dealing with a criminal that had now led him to a dark small place that was separated from the rest of the people. "What is that...?" James said to himself as he noticed a paper at the end of the alley. It was an invitation and it had his name on it. "See you there." said the voice before vanishing completely. James headed back home then.

Silvia was looking around the main street with so many people around. She was panting a bit from running since she was never good at sports unlike James. "You'll have to think faster and figure out what happens next, Detective Lonergon." she looked around to figure out who said that to her. She didn't see anyone who looked like they were trying to grab her attention or call hear the voice once again, but she kept going. 'The hell are they thinking trying to make me confused,' she thought as she followed the voice. 'I have to figure out they're next move before it's too late.' She kept walking until her heels were hurting because of her shoes. She walked to an empty alley that no one seemed to care about. She saw a piece of paper that was on the ground and really clean. She picked it up to find that her name was on it. She turned it over to see that it really was an invitation to a party. "Ha! I knew that it was an invitation for a party," she said to herself in self satisfaction. She walked out of the alley and walked back home, trying to figure out why she was anonymously invited to this masquerade party. ♣♠♣♠♣♦♣♠♣♠♣♦ Silvia had gotten ready for the masquerade ball she was invited to, hoping that there were more clues there and if it really was related to the case she was given. She had dressed into a nice light blue gown that made her look like and angel, including some white wings. She let her hair down in curls that were somewhat straight and a white mask with a hint of light blue decorations on it that covered her eyes. She got into a carriage that drove her over to the location of the party, not forgetting her invitation.

James had arrived at the masquerade ball as well, and honestly, he was going to be hard to recognize. He was wearing a black suit with a small golden handkerchief, and his mask was covering half of his face. His mask was black and golden as well with some other small decorations. James's hair was well combed to the back. He was quite the handsome mysterious man with his tall and poise posture along with his modest and gentle cologne. I better find some bloody clues here or else this was a waste of time and clothes. he thought. James was sort of anti-social. He didn't really enjoy this sort of social gatherings, which was also part of why he had broken up with Silvia. Sighing, he went inside. There was nothing suspicious yet. The letter that he had received inviting him did say that during the last part of the party he should be ready for the grand finale, but that he should integrate into the party for anything of his interest to happen first. James was ready for anything. All he hoped for was that it didn't involve another murder. I guess I better start socializing if I want to get any scoop on this... he thought. He went to the punch area to get some. He did notice a few beautiful woman and that didn't really bother him for he knew he was being checked out as well.

Silvia had arrived at the party and went inside to be part of the party. She looked around and hoped she didn't stick out as much as others did with her clothes. The letter had told her to first socialize as much as she could before the grand finale. She had no trouble with that since her job practically required her to do so. She looked around and knew that she was being checked out because of her costume, and felt embarrassed. She knew she shouldn't have used the wings. Costumes made her feel less confident about herself and made her close everything off. She felt much better when she didn't have to dress up so much. 'I hope this is all worth it and I get more clues here before I panic,' she thought, smiling to a few people to hide her nervousness.

As James walked around he couldn't help but notice a small delicate figure dressed in light colors. She was across the room and it surely made him curious as to whom it could be. If she was dressed with such colors, James was sure it had to be someone who was completely confident. James was confident when it came down to something related to his work, but when it came down to socializing, he was more of a shy butterfly, hence why he chose to come with dark colors today, although a couple of ladies at the party begged to differ. Sighing, James decided to approach the "angel" lady. If she stands out that much, then maybe she's the one I'm supposed to talk to... Interesting. As usual, James was over thinking things. He didn't know that that woman he was looking at was no other than Silvia! Slowly and calmly he began walking towards her.

Silvia felt strange int her outfit and blushed even more when others asked her to dance or complimented her dress. She thanked them and walked on to try to socialize with others. Out of the corner of her eye, she say a man who seemed to be well dressed in dark colors yet stuck out from how his clothes actually complimented his features. He seemed to be walking to her and she wondered if she should talk to him or not. 'But then again, I'll need to know as many people as possible to know if any of them have a clue that would help with the case.' She stayed in her place and fiddled with her hair, waiting for the man to get closer, not having any idea that the man was actually James!

James finally reached Silvia and so he gently smiled her way and bowed to her before speaking. "A beautiful lady and yet so lonely. Would you dance with me?" If this truly was his enemy, James had to be careful with how he treated her, that is why he was acting so gentleman like. This wasn't like him. Well, he was a gentleman when he wanted to, except with Silvia. Whenever he was with Silvia he did act like a jerk but that has already been explained before. James looked just so refined it would be hard for Silvia to recognize him. He never cleaned up so well even when he was dating her!

Silvia turned to the man and smiled to him, curtsying a bit to him in response. "I would love to," she said. She had already had some idea of who the people at the party were, but she only considered them as suspects. She saw him as a suspect too, but felt like something about him seemed different from everyone else. She had refused other requests for a dance, but saw that if she refused this one, she would lose a chance to get a missing clue to the whole puzzle. Also that he seemed a bit suspicious to her since he seemed a bit familiar as well even though she couldn't exactly point it out.

For some reason James was not able to recognize Silvia's voice, but perhaps that was due to all the noise being caused by the people at the party. With a smile, James took the "mysterious woman"'s hand and took her to the dance floor where they assimilated just as well as the others. This feels odd... I know I can't let my guard down at any moment, but this woman doesn't feel like a threat... Anyone here could be a suspect, but why does this woman seem so familiar? he wondered. So, as they danced they both remained silent, until James decided to break the ice again. "Say, have we met before? Because you seem oddly familiar." he stated bluntly. However, he also remembered that it was rude to ask for someone's name without introducing one self. "Oh, excuse my manners. I'm James. James Nicholson." He had no clue for what he was in for.
