He gave her a suspicious glance as though he didn't quite believe her; but the sentiments were appreciated all the same, even if they were empty words. Zia was an enigma in and of herself, and he couldn't help but be curious about her, in spite of everything.
"Well," Aurostibite muttered, tugging on a lock of his hair. "I suppose that's worth something, then."
Her hand was given a wary look, but after a long moment of contemplative silence, Aurostibite reached out and accepted it, wrapping his fingers around hers and giving it a small but firm shake.
"I don't mind," he said. "You can interview me, if you'd like. I can't promise all of the answers will be...acceptable, but there you have it."

"Well you don't want to tell me what your weapon is," Zia noted, trying to sand all of the edges of accusation out of the comment. But she maintained a familiar closeness into his space, obviously and without subtlety trying to create a rapport with him.
"What do you know about knights? I've heard some Negaverse officers can... uh... convert."
What she really wanted was to continue her prodding about latent memories and knowledge of past lives and homeworlds, but she found herself limited by her civilian form.
That would have to wait, assuming she ever saw him again and the circumstances match appropriately. She shifted uncomfortably at having to put aside curiosities that needled and bored at the back of her head, but she'd have to tolerate it.
"What's your name?"

"No," he answered, a little stiffly, but it was much less the vehement refusal he had given earlier and more subdued. He hadn't made an effort to move away just yet, but in fact stood there and watched Zia warily, half expecting her to somehow realize who he was.
A frown tugged at his lips. "Knights?" Aurostibite repeated. "Not...much, I suppose. I haven't had the misfortune of running into one as of yet, but as I've heard their goals are less in line with that of the Negaverse and rely more on the Senshi, I suppose I don't particularly care for them."
He rolled his shoulders in a little shrug. "I can't say I know much about them overall, though."
An oversight; he needed to rectify his lack of information, and he needed to do it soon; otherwise, should the situation be different, he could look foolish without much knowledge on a faction that spent its time pretending to be chivalrous.
The question of his name gave him pause, and for a long moment he didn't answer her, merely regarded Zia with an inscrutable expression. But then he said, in a much quieter tone of voice,
"Aurostibite. Lieutenant Aurostibite."

"I hear they're more like the Negaverse's wayward brothers," Zia said with a casual roll of her shoulder. "It's hard, keeping all of the organizations straight."
She had intentionally implanted the troublesome information into the conversation, but she couldn't say more. She couldn't let on about space and magic and she couldn't ramble on about cauldrons and purification. That knights were soldiers of earth just like the Negaverse and reincarnation was an important thing.
The more she thought about what she couldn't say to him, the less she could think to to actually say.
For months now she had insisted she wasn't a cat; She was Zia, the exceptionally well informed civilian.
And here and now she was faced with the frustration she couldn't be that anymore, and if she wanted to say all she wanted to say, not just to Aurostibite, but to anyone, she needed to learn how to pony up to Zirconia's identity.
She sighed in frustration that she couldn't bend the reality of the universe to her will, but offered him a weak smile instead. "Well, thank you, Aurostibite. It's been a pleasure."
She gave him a slight nod of acknowledgment before she started to walk past him, "I'll let you continue your patrol."

He scowled slightly. Wayward brothers implied a deeper connection than he cared to admit to at the present moment, but regardless, Zia's information, as well as her questioning, was an intriguing thing. He watched her curiously, brows drawn together, his head tilted slightly to scrutinize her a little more carefully.
But she had stopped pestering him for questions, and had started to walk away, and before he could stop himself he'd grabbed her arm in a grip that wasn't tight, but still enough to hopefully stop her.
"Be careful," he said flatly, and it wasn't a warning so much as it was a suggestion, his expression softening a little, his lips pressed together. "There are people out there less willing than I am to talk to civilians, and even less willing to help out someone digging for information."
Aurostibite let go, his hand falling at his side. "But I, ah...it was nice meeting you all the same," he added, a little rushed.
