(Takes on his typical college professor tone)
My dear, Probing Day is the one day of the year in which the Invaders are assessed on their missions and either punished for failing inspection or rewarded for passing muster. Those who have disfavorable outcomes are physically pummelled to a bruised alien pulp by the Almighty Tallest. Depending on the Tallest and his or her whims at the time, the circumstances for failing inspection can range from lack of military progress to disliking puppet shows.
We fans have immortalized Probing Day as March 30, when in the year 2001 Invader Zim first aired on television with the episode The Nightmare Begins. Whether you actually pummel your friends and family is up to you, but it is also acceptable to hog the family DVD player and watch every single episode before you go to bed.
I hope this clears things up for you. And for the curious, I do intend to celebrate Probing Day 2007.
