Good lord, its somewhat surprising to see this many posts about a mere misunderstanding.

Of course the original use for the word is in reference to an illegal sport involving two dogs beating the crap out of each other, but that's not what I meant in the slightest.

The dogfighting I mean is a term used amongst fighter pilots. It was coined during World War I, when aircraft were first being employed as a weapon. A dogfight is where one pilot is chasing the other pilot around, trying to shoot him down. Basically, a fancy term for aerial combat.

Furthermore, racers also use the term dogfight when there are two racers vying for a position, like in Initial D, which explains why the song is named Dogfight and used as the opening theme for Initial D 4th Stage.

I like dogs. Please don't misunderstand.

...On a side note, If I ever get a dog, I want one of those little German wienerdogs. I forget their actual name.
