There was a hint of something -- he couldn't quite tell if it was actual sarcasm, nervousness, or maybe something else entirely -- in her tone of voice, but Dominic went ahead and decided to ignore. If she wanted to share, she would share; who was he to poke and prod at her business? She knew he was there to help if she needed something, and hopefully that was enough. Her mimicry of the familiar meme did not, however, go unnoticed, and the teen laughed a bit alongside her before letting the subject drop.
And then they skated some, he trying to relay what little bit of the pointer's he'd been given to Hannah. It was probably amusing to watch, at least, which he found little comfort in realizing. Thankfully, talk of cubing was a great distraction. "Yeah, well," he started, his eyes flicking to the stands briefly in anticipation of the lesson to be had in the very near future. "I've been doing it since I was a kid, so. Bound to happen." Dom didn't say it in an overly smug or proud manner; in fact, while he was completely unabashed about his love for the Rubix and all other kinds of puzzles, somehow it felt weird when someone praised him for his speed and skill and talent or whatever else they liked to call it.
"I lived and breathed it for a while, basically still do. No big, though. You could probably get as fast if you practice as much as I did." A wide smile replaced the uncomfortable look that had crossed his face moments earlier.

Concentrating on skating and not running into or over any children as they made their way around the outer rim of the rink Hannah had unfortunately missed the expression on his face just moments ago. She knew it was something he was good enough at that he could probably do it with his eyes closed if it wasn't for the fact he'd need to see where the colors were at. "I don't know, maybe. I got pretty good at getting top row correct. Even the sides were the same color!" something she was quite proud about. "I just couldn't for the life of me remember the pattern to get row two down without messing up the top row" she admitted. Oh the number of times she tried and got frustrated. On more than one occasion she almost looked it up online but to be honest she secretly hoped that she'd be able to run into Dom again so he could finish teaching her instead. With the rink exit getting nearer she pointed towards the benches they had been sitting on a bit ago. "Would you rather take off now or do you want to skate around the rink a few times?" she suggested, leaving the option up to him. By now it felt like she was pressing her luck and that any moment her butt was going to become real friendly with the solid water beneath their skates.

"It's fun, right?" the teen added as she kind of seemed to gush about her accomplishment. It was always a start, getting the first face and the top row on all sides correct. Dom could still relate to that feeling all too well with each puzzle he started and solved for the very first time, and even as she shared her frustrations with getting stuck the teen nodded right along. That was a feeling he knew all too well, too. "There's that side of the coin, too, but I think it's worth it when you finally finish it for the first time."
The brightness in his smile when talk of puzzles and things was in the air was just...probably kind of annoying, but it was a passion of his that he was certain he'd take to his grave. Whoever didn't like that side of him could just politely tell him to shove off, otherwise he'd be happy to keep right on talking about it. The question about circling the rink soon came up as the rounded and started coming up to the part of the bleachers that they'd been sitting at, and one glance around the rink kind of made him cringe.
"Uhh...well. I'm here to teach you how to skate, so I'd rather you decide...but I'm itching to get to some warmth and that Rubix lesson, so how 'bout we call it?" With that he guided her carefully to the exit, staying just behind her and waiting as she left the ice first.

"I think we should go ahead and call it." she admitted with an apologetic look on her face. She knew as well as the next person that they were really pressing their luck continuing their attempt at skating. It was a fun idea, and thus far she had been enjoying herself, but she had to be honest with herself, sooner or later she's going to end up on her backside, a thought which made her cringe a bit. With Dominic's help the two of them made it to the exit without causing an incident, stepping off the ice onto the rubber flooring Hannah walked awkwardly over to the bench where they'd left their shoes and removed her skates. "Do you have any recommendations for nearby cafe's?" she inquired as she slipped her boots back on and gathered her things as well as her skates to return to the rental desk.

Dom's legs had actually started getting a little wobbly on the ice, and it was probably just luck that he hadn't slipped and taken Hannah right down with him, so he was glad to finally be off of it. He liked skating, mind, but he could do with just a few visits to the rink within a year. Smiling, he followed after his friend and plopped down right beside her, slipping off his own skates and pulling his shoes back on. At the question he had to shrug.
"Uh, nothing specific comes to mind but there's a lot around DCU. College and coffee seem to be a match made in heaven or something." The teen smirked at that and stood once his shoes were all tied up, bringing up his rentals in one hand and his bag in the other. Yep, he was ready to go! Though, he did wait a little for Hannah to finish up before starting to head back to the rental desk. In the meantime, he tried to think up names of random coffee shops that he happened to duck into at random points in time.
"Slave to the Grind is one," he murmured, half to himself and half to his companion. "Espresso Yourself, I think, is another. Uhh..."

Hannah fell in step beside Dominic as the two of them approached the rentals desk, “Lets go to Slave to the Grind. Plus, chances are they will have a spare Rubix cube so I can follow along with you.” Standing before the large counter, she smiled at the blue haired employee “Hi, we would like to return these please.” Looking up the girl then smiled “Ah! Thank you, feel free to leave them right there.” Fiona pointed to the other end of the counter where a line-up of rental returns looked to be forming. “I hope you two enjoyed your time skating! Have a good rest of the day and please visit us again soon.” With a smile on her face the blue haired girl waved good bye to the teens and proceeded to clean the skates and put them away. “Thank you, you too!” Hannah then waived her good byes and followed Dominic outside so they may take off to their next destination. _ p a o cx FIN - so sorry that took a while to get to crying
