She blinked twice in surprise and flushed. "O-oh, I wouldn't want to impose," she began, stammering a bit in her shock at his offer. Really, she shouldn't have been surprised- everything she'd seen of the dashing Captain so far told her he was an impeccable gentleman, but this was very generous indeed. "I- Well, if you're quite certain you wouldn't mind, sir, I would certainly feel safer with you or dear Aster along," she admitted, both out of honesty and a desire not to be rude by refusing his kindness. "Where might I find you, should I wish to call on you?"she asked politely, still rather pink about the cheekbones. "I'm not certain I'm the best judge of where is and is not dangerous to go," she pointed out with a wry smile. "I thought myself safe right here, after all. If it wouldn't be too much of a bother, it might be prudent for me to drop by and ask whether my intended destination is safe. Would that be alright?"

"It's no trouble at all," he assured her. The more difficult part would be for her to find him. Truth be told, there were any number of places he might be on any given day, and he was not always in Palisade. In fact, he very much suspected that duty would soon have him traveling hither and thither anywhere from Northport to Oldcastle. It did not make him the ideal companion. However, he was relatively stationary for the moment, and he could not allow her to go wandering around carelessly.
"You may call upon me at the cavalry complex," he said. "If I am not there, Lieutenant Gibbs will know where to find me."
If he thought her bold for asking for further assistance, he made no mention of it. Indeed, it pleased him that she would think of it. After all, there was no need for her to fear asking anything of him. Not when he had made his intention to help so clear.

Constance smiled warmly at his kindness. "The cavalry complex; I know it," she said with a nod. "Father does business there from time to time. Quills, I think? At any rate, I can find it easily." "Thank you so much for all your help, sir," she continued, her demeanor much brightened by the idea that she would soon have company in her search, at the very least. Indeed, it was difficult not to bounce on her toes: a habit she'd had since girlhood that her mother had found difficulty in breaking her of. "You really have been incredibly kind."

"Not at all, Miss Constance," he demurred, separating her hands and once more bringing her fingers to his lips. "It was my pleasure."
He straightened and released her, gracing her with a brilliant smile. There was no artifice in him, nor any hidden motivation. He was simply being the gentleman he was brought up to be. Though if Kit were there, he'd no doubt have a few words to say on the matter. Speaking of...
Jack gently smacked his buck on the shoulder, earning a snort, but also diverting the Guardian's attention from his focus on the rabbit. "Come along, Aster. Kit'll be expecting us."
With a final tip of his hat and a cheerful, "Miss," he was on his way.
