X

Ruelash left the Den, carrying the wiggling package, the Radaku's face poking out of the wrappings like a swaddled baby. It cried and barked, still struggling, though it was futile: it was well bound. He walked over to the Tree that Ikkio still perched in, and handed the Radaku up.

"Here she is." he said, feeling oddly... good... despite being covered in scratches and bites. He honestly liked making little girls happy. It felt like the right thing to do. Besides they were.. cute? He supposed?

"So. Lasarra." still, he wanted his part of their deal. Since they had made a deal and all. Good feelings would only get him so far. "Where kin I find her?"

Ikkio had watched the encounter from her perch with an eagerly curious intensity. She'd never seen a fight before. She wasn't so happy that he had gone along and killed some of the pups, but in the end...

She took the bundle from his hands, balancing on her feet as she hugged its wriggling form to her. She had a Radaku. She had a Radaku. Her Radaku. She gave it a scritch on the head, laughing as it flung its head back and forth trying to get at her. It would calm down, she knew, when she fed it.

Oh right. Lasarra. She still didn't want to tell him anything though. because then he'd go away. She wanted to play with him a bit more first!

"Hmm?" asked the child innocently, giving him a distracted smile as she cuddled her new Radaku.

Ruelash crossed his arms, glaring up at the girl. "Lasarra. Where can I find her." he asked, trying not to growl too much. Direk moved to his side to glare at the youngling in the tree.
"That were the deal, girl. I need t' find Lasarra, and ye were gonna tell me how to get to her if I got you yer Radaku." he rubbed at an already healing scratch, "You got yer damn Radaku. So wheres Lasarra?"
Had she forgotten or something? He knew that kids could be damn forgetful.

Small twolegs were not supposed to be in trees. Direk wanted her to come down now and be on the ground like a reasonable creature. If she didn't come down, she would headbutt her down, yes yes.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 03, 2014 3:36 pm

"Ohhh yeah..." she said, as if she had forgotten. She, of course hadn't. "I know where Lasarra is." she half-lied, "And you got me my Radaku" and he had gotten her the one she had wanted, too. "But I'm not gonna tell you." she said in a singsong voice, giggling, "Not gonna!" She bundled the Radaku under her arm - it had stopped wriggling by now, tired, probably- and was shifting her weight so she could leap away. She bet the ice man wouldn't catch her! She was pretty fast in the trees.

”Why you little...” Ruelash snarled, stomping at the ground angrily, ”We had a deal, ya little snot! Tell me where she is!” he said, punching the tree to little avail, ”C'mon! Else I'll come up there an' make you!”

Direk was surprised that, for once, her oaf and her were on the same page. Clearly he was offended that the twoleg was in the tree too – why else did he hit it? But she, direk, was not only more elegant, but stronger too. She took a few steps back, then charged forward, ramming the tree at the right angle to not hurt herself – she'd gotten a lot of practice hitting things with her head during their training...

Ruelash smirked. ”Or we'll knock you outta th' tree an' deal with you on the ground. Got it, snotty?” she shouted, punching the tree again as Direk rammed it. The tree shook with their efforts, just enough, perhaps, to rattle the girl...

Ikkio laughed at the Ice man. "Nope!" she giggled, searching for a tree limb to jump to. She'd have to aim for one that was close, 'cause she was only using one hand and her Radaku was wriggly.

She wouldn't get in trouble for telling him where Lasarra was. North of Ast, was all. It was simple, and easy to explain. Ikkio had no reason not to tell him. She got no benefit out of not telling him.

She just didn't want to. If she didn't tell him, he stomped and swore and sweated and threw a tantrum like a bad boy. That was amusing. She had the power to make a grown up upset, and there was nothing he could do. He couldn't climb up, she bet. He was too big and slow and stupid. She wasn't done with him yet, but a chase would be just as funny as watching him try. Plus, she did need to get home. She stuck her tongue out at him and, laughing, leapt.

Unfortuantely, timing and the fates conspired against her. The moment her feet left the branch was the moment that the tree shook and her careful jump to the next branch was thrown off. She missed and fell to the ground, her Radaku wriggling anew as she winced and lifted herself up, her side dirty and achy.

"Owwwwww." she whined, glaring at Ruelash. "That hurt."

Ruelash laughed as the little girl fell to the ground. "Hahaha! Thats what you get, you little sh*t." he stomped over to her and knelt, grabbing her arm, "Fallin from a tree hurt, huh?" he looked her over. She didn't seem TOO injured. "Why don't ya tell me where Lasarra is..." he squeezed her arm, staring at her with wild and threatening eyes, "Else I'll show you what else hurts."

Somewhere, inside, that primal part of him pushed back. He couldn't hurt her. She was just a little girl. He didn't want to hurt her.

But she was being a little brat. Surely that warrented a little shoving around, right?

No. he thought, Doesn't matter. I can't hurt her. She 'ent hurt me. he sighed mentally, his features softening into a resignedly grumpy expression.

"Look. Kid." he loosened his grip, "Just tell me where t' find her, okay?" he grumbled, relenting, "An' we'll go our separate ways."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 03, 2014 3:59 pm

"Geddoffame!" she yelled, trying to pull out of his grip, her brilliant yellow eyes intense and angry. "Get off get off! I won't tell you! Won't!" she still had no reason not to tell him, other than that now she didn't want to. She just didn't. "Won't tell you." she said, struggling, "Won't won't won't won't wo..." her tantrum cut short as she caught sight of a stalking shape just behind Ruelash.

Seeing a grown wild Radaku so close and on the ground, her body froze with fear. Her mouth worked and finally issued a whimper of awe and fear. It was so big, and it had such big, sharp teeth and claws...

The wrapped Radaku pup wriggled and called out to the stalking shape, crying piteously. It wanted its Denmother! Its denmother was here! Its denmother would save it from these scary things! Help it! It struggled uselessly against the bindings. Help it!

X

Ruelash took a moment to really savor the thrill of battle and the kill. This was what he lived for - this fighting and winning and the strength that came with it. This was life. It was surviving - Kill or be killed, do or die, eat or be eaten. He had survived. He had prevailed over a great and powerful predator and come out the victor. He felt better than he had felt since coming to these blastedly warm lands.

After a few minutes of bleeding and basking in his victory, he remembered Ikkio. He turned, leering, to the girl, a visage of death and violence, covered in blood.

"Arright, brat." he said, sheathing his blades and walking over, his voice still wobbly, breathy, and tainted by adrenaline, "Tell me where I can find Lasarra." he moved until he stood next to her, looking down with his wild eyes and unkempt hair. He crossed his arms and smiled, a wholly unpleasant smile, "I ain't playing no more, brat. tell me. Now."

Ikkio watched the whole thing. She wasn't quite sure what she was seeing, only that it made her heart pump and her body shake like that man that uncle Reshel had treated for a fever.

The fight was fast and violent and Ikkio couldn't take her widening eyes away as the Radaku was killed before them.

When it was over, she felt like she was in another place, like it wasn't even her watching.

She jumped as the man spoke, looking up at his face. Her breath caught in her throat and, for the first time in her life, as she looked at his bloody, angry face, she was scared. She cuddled her Radaku to her as it whimpered and whined. She was scared.

She believed him. Okay. No more games. She didn't want to get hurt.

"... I don't know exactly where, but..." she shrunk back, trying to be cute. Adults liked cute. If she acted cute, maybe he'd stop being scary. Maybe he'd go away... because that was what she wanted him to do. He had served his purpose and it was time for him to go away.
"She's north of Ast... Thats what Daddy said. Lasarra is north of Ast. Mama and Daddy got Loxy from her and thats where she is..." she started to back away, pushing herself across the ground with her legs, "I promise, mister." which wasn't saying much because Ikkio didnt care about promises, but it was true. "Don't hurt me..." she said, putting on her cutest face. Go away... Just go away... We're done...

"Ohya?" Ruelash approached, blood dripping from his face and hair, and covering the guards at his hands, "That the truth, brat? She's North of Ast?" He took another step closer.

He was not unmoved by her cute faces - annoyed, but not unmoved.

He wasn't actually going to hurt her. She was annoying, but she still hadn't hurt him, and he wasn't gonna really hurt an unarmed little girl anyway.

Not too much. Maybe beat her around a little, rattle her a bit, and send her home crying. But that was all.

He was enjoying making her scared, though. That was funny.

"So. Where's Ast?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 09, 2014 8:09 pm

He didn't know where Ast was.
How could he not know where Ast was? Everybody knew where Ast was. She hugged her Radaku closer, shrinking away a bit.

"That way." she said, pointing, "It's that way."

She wasn't pointing towards Ast. She had no idea where she was pointing. It would serve him right if he got lost! He'd made her scared, and that wasn't very nice. Not nice things should be punished. Plus he was a dummy. A scary dummy.

He stood there for a moment, just being scary. "Allrigh'." he said, smirking, "Thanks fer yer help. I'll just be goin' then." he said, starting off in the indicated direction.

He had no idea that her pointing hand was a lie. He could not comprehend why anybody would lie about something so stupid or trivial as where something was.

He was, however, ready to move on. On from this meadow, on from this little girl, and on from these Radaku...

Ikkio glared at him as he walked away. Go get lost, bad man she thought to herself. She didn't care what happened to him. She cuddled her new Radaku to her: She had gotten what she wanted. She turned to leave for home, Radaku held awkwardly in her arms.

The cub was about half as big as she was, so it was difficult, but she knew she could get it home, though maybe not from the trees so much. It would be worth it to get it home, though!

She imagined how proud everybody would be of her for catching the Radaku, and how jealous Ikuri would be because she only had a miniature Mammu. Ikkio would not have to be jealous of Loxy anymore. She had a radaku. Radaku were better!

The radaku cub had stopped struggling in both exhaustion and despair. Suddenly, its ears perked up, and it waved its tail, brushing Ikkio's knees.
It heard something. It heard pack. There was hope yet for it!

Ruelash took a deep breath and struggled to his feet, feeling pale and wan. It was anger that kept him standing now, not blood or anything remotely biological: just vinegar, sheer pissyness, and idiocy. He drew his other blade, trying not to shake too much - not in fear, but in overexertion.

"Hey kid." he said, not looking at Ikkio. His voice felt thick, his tongue heavy, which only made him angrier. "Ya'd better run the f*** away." he said. Through the growing dull buzzing in his ears he could hear them - pursuit. "Get yer brat a** out of here!" he snarled, the effort causing him to sway somewhat in temporary dizziness, "'fore I throw it! Git!" If the kid was safe...

What?

he didn't know. He couldn't think. He didn't get it. He just wanted to fight, and he wanted the kid to get out of this dangerous place. He just didn't get it at all.
