Otto gave her a flat stare. He was pretty sure she was just covering her a** with excuses. In what way did his fainting over a bug sighting make him a brave Pirate King? He gave up with a sigh and turned to continue his work. No use arguing with her. She was his helper today. If only he had a helper every day. "Fine, you win. I'm almost done with the windows here. What's next on the list?" Maybe after this he could nap. Or read.. or drum a bit. Though lately he'd been much too lethargic for any entertaining hobbies. He could at least stare at them and pretend he wanted to.

Flat stares didn't affect her anymore, not with a boyfriend like Gale. And if winning meant accepting the compliments, then yes! Winning all the things~! o7o/
"Mopping," she stated as a matter of factly, already on the move to get them both supplies. "Also, I've got a question for you, if you don't mind. Well, um, multiple actually depending on your answer, but let's start with the one! Have you been to Halloween much?"

Blech. Questions. Otto would oblige, since she was helping. Give and take, and all that. Otto got down from the chair he'd been using to reach high places, following after Stormy. "A lot. Why?" He'd had a long term mission there, one he did not miss. He preferred talking to Halloween as himself, not some gross zombie girl. Actually, he didn't like talking to them at all.

"Great! See, I have this idea." Stormy handed him a mop and began to sift through things for a bucket. "The horsemen have been quiet, right? Quiet being bad because they're probably up to something. And there's not a whole lot of info on them that we know of."
She knew because she had tried to access what files she could at her rank, and that had been frustrating.
"I was thinking, maybe we should infiltrate the school and ask around a bit. Find a way into one of their meetings or something. Problem is, I don't really have a lot of field experience in this sort of thing . . ."

She had a good idea. He'd thought of it too, to be honest. However, he lacked charisma. But Stormy? She had it. She might pull it off. "It's not too hard blendin' in. The trick is being likeable. Yer pretty likeable, so you could probably make it work. Just rely on your weapon for anythin' specific you need to know, like lingo or whatever."He took the mop from her, readying it and helping get the bucket filled with hot and soapy water.

She might have sparkled just a tiny bit at the compliment.
(Or maybe that was just the glints in the water.)
"Right, yeah, weapon. Thane's been pretty helpful for lingo, though he's . . . kinda formal."
< < 'Regal'. The term is 'regal' in comparison to the mudlickers. > >
Stormy smiled to herself as she dunked the mop in and hustled to a corner to start. "I know experience in the field's the best teacher, but I was wondering if you had any pointers? What sort of stuff were you doing in the school?"

"Don't matter none. As long as you don't use human world stuff, you'll fit in fine. They're just as diverse in Halloween as anywhere else." He felt a small tinge of pride suddenly. He knew small nuances about Halloween thanks to his experience. Otto took the other side of the hall, so they could mop side by side up the hall while conversing. "I was looking at what sort of means of communication they used. Stuff like cell phones, gossip rings and all that. They even have Twitter, but they call it Critter. Oh, and internet is interwebs."

"Right, right . . ." It sounded easy in theory, but Stormy had been on enough missions to know how quickly it could go sour with one wrong decision. She perked as Otto went further in depth and kept tossing him glances as she worked.
(Although it looked more like she was swaying with the mop to an inaudible beat than properly using it.)
"So no human world terms, just . . . Halloween spins of them?" she asked with a hint of excitement, because while Halloween itself scared her, things like Critter and interwebs individually made her giggle. "It's kinda cute in a weird way . . . Were you going to tap their communication somehow? Like, um, hack their stuff to spy?"

"That was the idea." Otto nodded, "That way I wouldn't have to go there myself so much." The less social interaction, the better. He hated trying to trick people, or pretending to be someone else. It all rubbed him the wrong way. Spying? Nah, that didn't bother him in the least. "Halloween is more a resource than a threat. It's the Horsemen I'm scared of."

She brightened considerably, and her mop started to blur. "My thoughts exactly! Some of them are really nice, too," Stormy went on to say. "On my first mission one of them actually stopped to heal me up! You don't know Mei, do you? She's one of Gale's contacts."
The mention of the horsemen dimmed her expression, but it didn't make her less hopeful about her idea. Halloween didn't necessarily support them, right? Maybe it was like political party stuff, with supporters and opposition and a bunch of people who didn't care either way. "Yeah . . . They're called extremists too, aren't they? Maybe we can find people who aren't fans and who'll help us learn more about them. D'you think anyone on your roster could assist?" Then there was a brief pause before Stormy quickly added, "If you don't, I could go over and put feelers out! I'm planning to anyway. We could all, like, pool our resources together and make it a project?"
She was getting way too excited about something this dangerous.

"I know of her. Met her with Gale, once." Otto murmured. It wasn't a very pleasant mission, but no mission ever was, really. "Um.. I don't have an impressive roster goin.. M'not exactly Mr. Friendly, even when I'm in a golem." Amrita he'd met as a golem, and he still felt she was not going to be very helpful on the Horsemen front. She was very Anti-Hunter. Very. Her thoughts on Horsemen were unknown, but over all he wanted to keep his contact with her minimal. Alex seemed somewhat helpful, although he made him feel uncomfortable. After all, he'd bit him once when he was out of a golem. Hm... "Actually.. there's a zombie named Alex. He's really helpful to new faces, last I checked." Stormy seemed to want to go all out in this endeavour, and Otto was more than happy to let her. He hated golems. He preferred others go in his stead. Actually, this worked out great! Stormy could go on these endeavours for him. She was much friendlier, after all. "I think it's a good idea. Anything you find out, keep note of it."

Stormy tilted her head with a little smile. "I think you're pretty friendly. It doesn't have to be like you're happy and smiling all the time, you know." This was a distinction she felt was important to make because friendship really was magic.
Bobbing her head as Otto spoke, she dunked her mop into the bucket and sloshed around the floor with even more vigor. Having a purpose again was nice: less floundering, more time spent feeling useful, less time to feel sorry for herself. And it helped others! "Alex, gotcha." Stormy felt a brief shiver go up her spine at the idea of meeting a zombie, but she would do what she must.
With a determined face she planted the mop on the floor and saluted Otto with two fingers to her temple. "Will do! Should I do anything to help you out on the communication stuff in the meantime?" Because helping him with his list of chores and offering to do personal surveillance wasn't enough, no sir--there was always more she could do to help, more work to prove she was capable.

She had a point. He didn't seem to have trouble making friends despite his sour disposition. Still, he really loathed the process of cozying up to Halloween. Stormy's eager attitude toward the work was astounding. Baffled, he tried to mop and think at the same time. Sharing the workload between another person was just what the doctor ordered. If Gale knew he had his girlfriend doing chores for him? Heh.. "Uh.. let's stick to what we got so far. I don't have a whole lot going on aside from that and... this." He gestured with the mop. His menial chores kept him fairly busy. He'd been avoiding Halloween missions, on account of his distaste for it. "I'll let you know if I get anything."He paused a moment, twisting his mouth as he searched for words, "Um.. thanks."

"Yes, yes, please do!" she chirped, practically bouncing in place with a big smile. This had gone way better than anticipated, and after weeks of low moods and sadness, Stormy was almost taking a small high from this personal success. "You're very, very welcome! And really, thank you for listening. I know I can kinda get ranty if someone doesn't stop me, like Gale can vouch for it 'cause I went like fifteen minutes once non-stop, but I have all these ideas and I like helping people 'cause I know there's a lot of work going on, 'specially with all the stuff happening lately--"
. . . Right, cut back on the gratitude a bit, whoops. Stormy stopped herself with a sheepish look.
"How does this sound: I'll help you with your chores on Mondays and Wednesdays, and I'll help with Gale's Tuesdays and Thursdays; Caelius has you both on the same chore list, right? Fridays are for the library since Miss Ami wants me translating books for her specialty . . . Oh, if they saddle you with someone to train like that guy you mentioned, I can help if you want!" she offered happily as she scrubbed at a particularly nasty bit on the floor. "I might not be fully Death, but I'm really good at sneaking! And eavesdropping! And finding information!" She really could go on and on . . .

Holy Crap. While Stormy was a bit of a chatter, she was also Godsent. No wonder Gale liked her. She was pleasant enough, not overly annoying. Best yet, she was willingly accepting a good chunk of his work. Otto's eyes rounded into blue orbs, staring at her as if she might disappear if he blinked. "That's... perfect." If he got bothered by Lawr or Chantelle, he'd just call Stormy in to help ease the stress of it. Crap... a thank you wouldn't be enough. She was really saving his skin and sanity here. "All of it. Perfect... If uh, you need anything that requires a Full Hunter's status, and Gale isn't around, call me. To pay you back for all this."
