Nope, it's meant to be literally tea this time. Nic has no problems retrieving the cups and tea leaves again, humming to himself as he gets to work. It...was nice to know he'd been missed. That they were at least still friends after this. Nic could live with being alone again, yes, but having someone to talk to about these things was...nice.
He exhaled in relief at the touch of Roger's hands, muscles already sore from the day's work, and leaned back the slightest, closing his eyes as he listened to him. Ahh, was that what had happened?
"It's fine, don't worry. Everyone gets busy every once and a while, so please don't worry about it. I...Might have to take you up on breakfast sometime. Or lunch of dinner besides." He laughs, glancing back at him. "And while we're at it, I'm sorry if I said a few things that didn't help the situation. Y'know....afterwards."
Well, all of Nicholas' family has moved to Palisade, and his....close friends moved away years and years ago, and it seems like it just keeps happening. It was a little sad, but at least he seems happy enough? Plus now there's Roger, and Roger won't be moving away anytime soon, right?
Riven perks her ears at watching the woman. What in the world...? She feels the slightest bit shy again, and chooses to keep a few paces behind her friend, watching curiously. Duty...?

"Hm? What do you mean? I don't remember you saying anything inappropriate afterward..." After that amazing, wonderful evening that he wouldn't trade for the world. His hands are still working, thumbs trying to rub out the knots in Nic's shoulders. He couldn't help but feel somewhat responsible for them. He really had no idea what the carpenter was on about, either.
Why, yes! A duty! Farthir was slightly disappointed by his companion's unwillingness. He'd just have to do it himself, then! He trotted across the street to this stranger, and she was predictably frightened at first. Her hands flew up and she nearly fell. The deer's big furry body caughter her in mid-air, though, and she couldn't help but wrap an arm around him. Something was wrong with her. He could feel it.
To the doctor, or to home? He didn't know where home was. He wasn't sure a doctor was necessary either. He did know that this woman had to be brought somewhere, though. He turned to Riven. Would she help?

"Ah....I'm the one who said I wouldn't mind trying a relationship, though....I might have spoken too soon, and I'm sorry for that." His cheeks flush, but little by little the knots are starting to go away, and a happy sigh is draw out of his lips. "I wouldn't mind talking about what we're going to be from now on though. Friends, lovers, something else..."
Riven almost panics when the lady almost falls. Why that's not good at all! She's quick to approach, worriedly looking her over. That's not good!
She looks the lady over seeing if she can figure out what's wrong, worried. Hmm, Farthir has a point! But what in the world could be bothering her?

Roger almost froze. Was he not interested in a relationship any more? He wanted to talk about it, that was good, but had that desire been dropped? Honestly, he'd like to hear about it again now that they weren't basking in afterglow. He wouldn't mind a date or two... then again, wasn't that breakfast, dinner...? Nic had offered that.
He stepped back only to remove his overclothes.
"It was a little scary at the time, but it's alright. I'd... I'd like to talk about it too. Or we could just skip it, and you could agree to come with me to dinner tomorrow night." No expectations, right? A part of him really did hope that they would still discuss the matter.
Farthir turned to nudge the woman with his snout. She was confused at first.
"What are you trying to say?" Her voice was somewhat distressed. Her hand still lingered on Farthir's back, though. Perhaps he wasn't going to lose her trust. The gentle pressing was all in vain for a time, until the woman seemed to get an idea. She wouldn't get on his back, it seemed, but she did wrap her arms around his neck. He couldn't ask her where home was though. That was the frustrating part of being a Guardian. Instead, he took a few steps forward. The woman followed, but stopped as he did. She was not going to lead him anywhere on her own, so he turned around fully and began toward the nearest doctor's office. If she wasn't going to tell him where home was, he certainly couldn't bring her there. Perhaps medical attention was what she needed, anyway.

Nic fussed a little, worried that maybe it hadn't been taken the right way. Had he said something stupid again? Probably. What would it take to fix it this time? But he took the moment to breathe, going to go sit down at the table, hoping Roger would join him.
"Yeah, I....I think it's best to talk, don't you? But I'd still really...love to go to dinner with you, if that's okay?" He offers a shy smile, looking up at him. "I'm still interested, in case I made it sound differently. I'm very, very interested....I don't think I've ever worried so much about a person before." He admits, tilting his head the slightest, and gives Roger time to reply.
Riven, on the other hand, follows at the woman's other side, letting Farthir lead. She was concerned, but certainly a doctor could help, right?

Things rarely went perfectly, didn't they? Roger was not upset so much as curious, and he joined Nic at the table without a second thought. He hoped the dampness of his jacket, now hung over the back of the chair, wasn't about to destroy any careful woodwork. He laced his fingers together and offered Nic a smile. He was charmed again, and the poor carpenter looked like he was a little ruffled already.
"Of course! Of course to both, I mean. I was hoping you'd want to talk." How many relationships had any discussion before them, whatever they were? Friends, lovers, worst enemies. They were lucky on that front, he felt.
"So. Where should we begin?"
The trip to the office was going slower than usual for the pace the woman shambled along, and Farthir worried that they may have to figure out a way to lift her or else abandon her in the snow to find help. His worries dissolved as she suddenly broke away and began up the steps to a brick building. Was this home? Rather than fight it, Farthir followed up just behind her, prepared to catch her with his body if she needed. Instead, the door opened to a panicked young man who immediately pulled her into his arms.
"Oh, spirits. Where have you been?!" the young man yelped. The woman gave a sob.
"I went too far."
The man's eyes had turned to the Guardians on his porch. He seemed to consider them a moment before me moved to close the door.
There was a pause.
"Thank you."
and then they were both gone behind the heavy wood. Farthir turned to Riven. See? A duty. Sometimes things went right and he didn't get smacked or bitten or scolded.

Nic relaxed more as Roger sat down, resting his chin on his hands as he watched his face, smiling to himself. "I'm always open to talk." He hums, grinning a little bit. "Better to be honest and upfront, right?"
At the mention of where to begin, he furrowed his brow a little, thinking. "Well.....First off I would like to try being in a relationship? If you're willing, I'm willing to try it out I mean..." His cheeks flush pink, and he's not quite sure what to say other than that. Roger is attractive, at least to him, but they can't just base a relationship around that, can they?
Riven is relieved when the woman makes it safely home, and snorts a sigh of relief, looking at Farthir. Okay, he was right. But now can they go and cuddle down in his pen?

Farthir straightened out. Did she have no sense of dignity? To save a life and then go on as if nothing had ever happened! She certainly did not have the trappings of a lady.
... then again, he was pretty tired. The walls of his pen would block the wind. Alright, maybe she was right. He snorted and shook his head, turning once more to head back home. His pen was always warm, and sometimes even warmer when the forge was going. Sometimes they'd go outside and sit around the forge there, but not lately. It had been too cold lately.
Roger listened with respect and nodded, then resolved to give the best reply he could. This was not one of those times that you wanted to skew wording.
"I'm with you there," he says, "I haven't been able to stop thinking about you, and you make me... feel..." He motions to his chest with a cupped hand, and lifts it up as he tries to think of a good word.
"... I don't know." He relaxes and laughs slightly. "Good. You make me feel good. I'm afraid you've charmed me."

Yes, they were both tired and such virtuous work deserved a good rest, did it not? She followed a little closer, shivering the slightest in the cold wind. Had Farthir met any others? Any other deer? There was one she was fond of... Nic gave a surprised noise, cheeks flushing as a pleased smile found his face. Good? Well! That was certainly nice to know! "Terribly sorry for charming you then. Though I'm afraid you'll owe me an apology for that as well, sir blacksmith!" He scolds lightheartedly, eyes softening as he watched him. "We can take it as slow as you like. I'm in no hurry." "It'll turn out fine no matter what happens. At the least we'll be friends, right?"

Other deer? Why yes, he knew a few other Guardians. He wasn't particularly close to many of them, but he did know that they existed and where some of them lived. It was part of his job after all. Did she need him to spy on one in particular?
Roger smiled and turned his eyes down for just a moment. Was he charming? Well, that was a heavy compliment coming from someone like Nic. His attention returned to the carpenter quickly.
"I don't make a habit of pre-planning these kinds of things. We'll go as slow or as fast as we go. We're already kind of going at it from an... interesting direction." His hands, previously moving as he spoke, turned palm-up. A brow arched. He smiled. They had already crossed lines that one didn't generally consider, having barely known one another.
"--but yes." His hands went down to the table again. "I think I'd like to continue being friends, regardless of what we become. It's rare to find someone you can be so open with, you know? Besides, I think we get along just fine."

Oh no, not spy! Perhaps he's met her best friend before? Her dearest friend? He's an interesting fellow, that's to be sure. He's taught her all sorts of interesting things. Perhaps he's seen him, bones and all? Nic for a moment considered taking those beautiful hands, to admire them again and feel over the smooth burns he's gained from his profession. But he remains seated, watching his friends face carefully. How indeed would this turn out? "A one night stand, yes." He adds shyly, cheeks flushing just the slightest. "I don't think I'd mind changing that though, to more of a...serious relationship." Or sleeping with him again even. It didn't even have to end in the same way their first night had, just having someone there to be with was nice in and of itself. Watching his hands flip, he realizes he's lost his chance with his hands and frowns, looking down almost shyly. "Yes, that's the exact reason I'd like to continue as well." He nods, giving another warm smile. "Someone even to talk with about...our preference in gender is hard to find, at least in Oldcastle." He'd heard rumors Palisade was slightly more easy, but who knew?

Uh... well. There were a lot of Guardians with bone patterns, weren't there? How would he know if it was her friend?
Roger laughed and flushed slightly at the mention of a "one night stand." That was basically what it had been, yes. He was more used to those types of things than actual relationships, unfortunately. He wouldn't mind if it became a two-night stand, though... or three? Four?
"You know, I don't think homosexuality is as rare as all that. Dangerous, sure, but I could name a few men in Palisade if I so chose. Palisade is... bigger. More people of course means more varied sexual preferences. I don't mind, though. Having just one person would be enough, especially one as kind and genial as you." Oh, there he went again, flirting. They had both expressed an interest in romance, though, so he figured that it was allowed to at least a point.
"My family doesn't even have any idea."

Well...He was rather...unique. In a good way! She rather thought him charming actually.... Nic nodded, listening to Roger's words quietly with a smile, getting up only to finally take the pot of boiling water and pour it to let the tea steep. Finally, it seemed, they were going to be able to have the tea he promised. Bringing the cups over, he set them down between them with a smile. "Ah, I know there's a lot of men in Palisade. My old boyfriend ran off there, years and years ago. Man, how long has it been.....5, 6 years?" It had been quite some time, and he hadn't had any fun on the side.... "I think I've found someone I can trust. That's all I need." He replied, cheeks flushing the slightest at his compliment. "Mine doesn't either. I think it's for the best."

Ah, well... what color was he? What was his name? What was his Chosen like? It would be hard to think of a particular "charming" bone buck.
Roger wrapped his hands around the steaming cup and smiled at the warmth. Finally they were going to have their tea.
"It's just as illegal in Palisade, I assure you," he nodded. He wondered idly if he knew Nic's old boyfriend. He had certainly lived in Palisade five years ago. "It's been just as long for me, but I can't honestly say I had a boyfriend... but, to be honest. I don't want to think about your old boyfriend." He offered a little look and a slowly growing smile. He offered a hand across the table, palm-up. Now came Nic's chance at those hands!
"Let's not dwell on the negatives, though. Certain issues stem from our nature, and frankly I'm willing to deal with them if it means I get to spend more time with you. You're a certain kind of person, Nic. A person I rather enjoy the company of."

His name is Morai, she assures him with the slightest hint of shyness, almost like one of the blushing young maidens. He's dark and terribly sweet, and his chosen is one of the noble types. Perhaps now that's a better description? "Oh I know. I was just thinking it might be a little easier to find people, since Palisade is bigger." Nicholas hummed, sipping at his own tea. He seemed more than happy to hear he'd be about the first to really have a chance at Roger, eyes brightening considerably, though at the same time it should be something that scared the s**t out of him. "But I don't think either of us have to worry about him anymore. I've found a far better friend." He offers, carefully taking the hand he's offered, rolling over the muscles and tendons with his thumb. "I can't possibly tell you how happy it makes me to hear that..." He whispers in reply, letting out a tiny sniff of laughter. "I enjoy your company too, just so we're on the same page."
