I can't believe July was my last post! Time flies...I do remember where we're going with this rp, so if you forgot, let me know!

Caroline’s gaze dipped, watching intently the path Thorne’s thumb paved across the back of her hand. Almost as quickly as she had, Thorne noticed the motion, and paused the action, both puzzling and disappointing the young noble. It was a habit of his, to act subconsciously in a manner that many would have frowned upon, but her heart skipped every time. She wondered...and not for the first time… Did these moments reveal he felt more than he was willing to say? Was he as hardpressed as she to hold her tongue. Were they both waiting for the moment their relationship to shift?

But Caroline immediately felt ashamed and quickly lifted her stare. It was wishful thinking. Thorne meant what he said; there was no mystery in his heart to uncover. If she continued these daydreams, then she condemned herself to a broken heart.

As if to punctuate this realization, Thorne mirrored her spoken feelings, confirming that, though she was special and one of few, she was a friend. A dearest friend, just as she had told him. And it could be enough for her. It had to be.

Though it was no declaration of love, it thrilled her nonetheless. Thorne was unlike any friend she had ever had. Easily, other than Elowen, and all other feelings aside, he was her truest friend. However their lives unfolded, that would never change.

But she couldn't hear anymore, or her heart would burst. “I am so glad.” She offered a smile and a nod, and put their conversation to rest. Releasing his hand, she suddenly realized the bite of the cold, and shivered. Had it dropped a few degrees just then? Wrapping her arms around herself, she ducked her face further into the confines of her scarf. “It is quite cold now! If you do not have to head back yet… perhaps some cider by the fire?”
