Alice didn't want to be honest with herself because in a way it made her sound conceded. She shook her head in disagreement and said, "Hannah was having an off day and besides I just got lucky that's all." She was obliged to dismantled her previous victory as a hoax in order to make her teammates feel more worthy in a way. Of course, they would argue with her but when Cole brought how she got along with the higher ranking officers she grimaced. "What do you mean? Hannah probably hates me and Zecane...he..." She began to blush so she turned to face the wall. "He likes my skills is all." The farmer swallowed hard before going along with Cole's visualization of Yumi. "I'm sure she was great. I know I missed it, but Sasha's praises mean a lot."The girl but her cracked lip in discomfort. However, Yumi wanted to go see how they can improve to obtain the positions they wanted. Alice was glad to be going back to headquarters to see Zecane once again on official business this time around. "I'll right, lets go." She stood up and followed the black haired girl to the door, she gestured to Cole to follow.

Alice entered the same cabin the group was in before they rushed over to headquarters to make an unanimous decision to join the Survey Corps. The farm girl was overjoyed to be accepted as a soldier, but the threat of the titans was even more terrifying. Friends and relationships that she made here could be lost in battle within seconds. All the power in the world couldn't bring those creatures to their knees so what makes humanity and their armies different. Hope. Humans are unique beings for a reason because they never surrender. If the earth was disconnecting at the seams and each district in the walls was consumed by fire, people would still rise and fight. Living one more day is everyone's goal, even the citizens from Wall Sina have dreams and desires for the unpredictable future. Whether those dreams become reality is based solemnly on luck most of the time.

Locking the door behind her, she took a seat on one of the thin lifeless mattresses, reached into her brown leather knee high boot, and pulled out the fragile hand-sized journal. Opening the flimsy book, she skimmed the faded cursive writing on the first page. The books pages were slightly yellows because of all the physical abuse it had been through in over a years time. Alice inhaled deeply before reading the first entry.

August 10, 869 A.D.

"I left my home along with my bed ridden mother and my little sister, Alice. She wasn't to pleased with me, but will have no chose to forgive me after I send delicacies. Maybe buy some ribbons from Sina to give to Alice as a birthday present. On the boat, men and woman eagerly crowded together. The ship set sail carrying us to out desired destination, Training Camp. I'm ready to be a Scouting Legion solider." Flipping the page she continued, wondering where those ribbons went.

August 12, 869 A.D

"Training is rigorous, but it will be worth it in the end. The instructors are tough, however, I have taken a liking to one, Mikano. I haven't learned his full name yet, oddly he wants all high ranking soldiers and trainees to address him by his first name. He teaches me about the world through eyes and what he's seen in his life so far. A place covered by sparkling sand that salty water laps repetitiously. He called this wonder, Beach." The next few entries were of the outside locations that Mikano had experienced and shared his discoveries with Mari.

December 27, 869 A.D.

"Today in training, I found an old black and white photograph that must have been dropped by one of the mentors. I was able to save it from the snow and persevere it in my cabin. I need to perform a Q and A session with the authority around camp and found out who this belongs to."

February 4, 870 A.D.

"I keep on forgetting to ask about the photo. Although, some of the instructors in the photo have gone missing as well as some unfortunate trainees. I assumed they were recruited for battle, but never returned. I mark each with an X that is either considered KIA or MIA. I'll know what happened to them. but I still take the risk in asking the remaining officers each day. Nothing. Like the say, I better learn my place before one of them teaches me it."

March 1, 870 A.D.

"I've graduated in half of the amount of time than the other trainees. They call me, Exceptional. I deploy with my unit to Wall Maria. Titan's had breached the wall some years ago and to prevent history from repeating itself extra security is set up there everyday."

May 18, 870 A.D.

"I've been sent out on a total of two missions. Each one a session and I finally remembered the picture. It belongs to my new love, Mikano. Tomorrow I shall give it to him as well as my hand, if he's willing to have me. I hope I'll be able to please him." With each page, Alice's heart raced, but the worst was yet to come.

July 9, 870 A.D.

"Mikano accepted me, but for the last month or to he's been acting strange. I want to trust him. I do trust him. Yet, I'm secretly following him because my instincts have my attention."

July 10, 870 A.D.

"It can't be possible! He lead me to a basement of an abandoned house. I was outside the door listening in, but I was invisible to him I think. From the door, there was screams. Someone repeated over and over, "Don't turn me into them! Don't turn me into a titan!" What could that possibly mean? Maybe I can reasonably discuss this matter with him. Or take this mystery to the authorities."

July 28, 870 A.D.

"My suspicious may have been confirmed. Mikano might be behind the missing soldiers and is performing some kind of sinister experiments on them. I can't trust him. He has become suspicious of my intentions as well. I can see that unforgiving look in his eyes. I have to tell some one about his unusual activities, but who would believe me?"

August 10, 870 A.D.

"It has been exactly a year since I joined the military. My efforts of success seem futile in this hour of crisis. My plans to reveal Mikano as a trader were never received because that night I was going to tell them, the titans invaded. A section of the wall was reduced to rubble. I sit here cowering behind some ruins of a building. There's people screaming, running, bodies everyone. I don't want to be apart of them. The last I saw Mikano was when he handed me my gear as well as other before leaving. Something was off, his eyes were hallow and he whispered something to me although I couldn't make it out. I have to move. If I stay I'll die. And Alice! What if the titan's get to her or have gotten to her!? I have to go! There is no one to protect her besides me. I am the only person she has left since our mother passed away. Alice..Alice...let me fly to you."

Tears dripped onto the inky making it run. Closing the journal and placing it back into her left boot, silently she stood up without a word and walked out of the cabin.
