If he had been watching Delilah's face, Quenton would have noticed that she was thinking through what he said about different simple webpages. Some of them she knew would be a challenge to keep up, namely a blog. What with school and a full time night 'job', she would not be able to update it like some. But Wordpress suck out to her. "I have heard Wordpress is pretty easy to use. Maybe that would be the way. Simple and then I don't feel guilty if I cannot post a new entry every other day."

Slowly she moved closer to him inside of his coat. It was thin but warm. Though maybe it was the body heat he gave off that helped her core warm up.

Yet as he mentioned not trusting public events, Delilah's felt something inside of her sink. "That's too bad. I was going to ask if you might have been interested in letting me tag along at one of yours." She looked up at him and smiled with a playful grin. "Clothes and jewelry could have paired nicely."

"I will have to ask around. I know many classmates are looking for more things to put in their portfolio so it could be a good tip."

As they came to the corner, Delilah slowly pushed into his side to suggest a turn to the right. "What about price range?" She finally asked. Motioning down, she looked at the scarf around her neck. "What should I mark up something like this because I know you cannot just charge for material and expect to make any money."

"Clothes and jewelry do pair nicely. But my studio classes have prevented me from accomplishing much lately for jewelry. To be honest, I've been behind in music compositions- there just isn't enough music in my mind of late. "

"It is just as well it will be mostly performances from here on out, and I can talk to the professor about taking an Incomplete for a handful of extra weeks."

He looked down at her scarf as she mentioned it, and somehow managed to keep his feet all the while without missing a beat while he considered. "I remember it used to be that 10% was a standard profit margin for many businesses over head of stocking and manufacturing. So something that cost $1 to produce was sold for $1.10. That is a figure from the 1930s, though. Many big businesses charge a great deal more. Pizza for instance, if you figure out all the costs of materials, of staffing, of utilities ...cost around $1.50 to create for a large 8-slice. But the sale price offered to the public is $9.99. As you can see...that's a much larger than 100% profit margin. "

"I suggest doing some research of what similar hand-crafters are selling, and then seriously look at your production time and quality. Don't sell yourself short, but don't charge more than 20% of what other similar products from hand crafters are. Knitted scarves I've seen for $12 for something with just pretty yarn, $130 for fine alpaca well knit with no mistakes. Hand painted silk scarves often for $30 to $60, depending on the intricacy of the pattern. Some of that would also be where are you selling things? At a convention for anime, I wouldn't expect high price, premiere items to sell. Having one or two on hand for display of popular series will catch attention. Most teens don't spend much more than $20 on any single item. They tend not to have jobs, and want quantity of items to spread and share back at the hotel room."

"Makes sense? A lot of it, without crunching hard math, can be drawn from your own and the buying habits of friends. "

"Makes quite a bit of sense really." Delilah said, a little surprised at herself that she had caught all of that the first time around. "The bottom line is that if there isn't a market for something, it won't sell not matter if it market up only 1%. So in reality, Deciding on my market is first and foremost, the most important thing. After that, research." She looked toward Quenton for approval.

"But even with all that, I have to stop you for a moment." Delilah commented and physically stopped before turning to gaze at him. In the close space, she might have looked a bit scary. "You compose music? And perform? What sort of music?"

Outside of fashion, the piano was her passion. To hear a love of it, this made her interest about him grow even more.

Quenton gave a nod, making a single-phoneme noise of accent. She'd latched onto the most important part of business- no market, no sales. Everything after that was making sure that things balanced effort and cost of production against a purchaser's cost-to-coolness ratio.

When she stopped, he did out of pack instinct, looking to her before blinking and backing a moment at the intensity of her expression. His tone inclined, indicating his uncertainty implicitly as to why the fact of it was enough to elicit her change of demeanor, "I.....dooooooo?"

"Its...hard with this healing, " he motioned to his face, his fingertips pushing against the split from cheek, though lips to chin. "Woodwinds. The medieval recorder and the shawm. I like to compose pieces that play with alternation between polyphony and monophony. You have an interest in music? There's a degree program at DCU in performance music. I'm getting a minor through it. "

It was not until she heard his tone that Delilah realized she might have gotten overly excited. Pulling back her expression to a more milder one, she quickly looked away. "Sorry." She whispered not believing she let herself get that hyper about it. It was just, how many people did she meet that composed and played their own music? Well, how many of them did she not mind talking to might have been the better question.

Though at his mention of it, her eyes carried over to his face and followed the line down his cheek. Those thugs again, she thought. Delilah hoped it was healing quickly but she feared it would leave a scar. Still, she knew it was rude to ask about it so she shook it off with her own innocence. "I'll be honest, I am not completely sure I am familiar with those pieces. Like the clarinet? She asked thinking back to what she had seen play in concert. "Piano. I have been playing since I was five. Though no desire to go professional with it, it has become a passion. Something that I can escape with if I ever have a long day or things get too chaotic." She answered softly still feeling bad for how she had acted.

"So let me see if I got it all, you play music, design jewelry, understand business, and get lost looking at the crape myrtles in winter. Mr. Quenton, is there anything you cannot do?" She jokey asked with a warm smile.

" The Shawm is the ancestor to the Oboe. Recorders....well, you might have seen one or been required to play one in elementary music class. They used to be used for introductions to music that way. Keyboards with computer lessons and recorders are usually the ways I've seen music teachers showing students how to read treble clef maybe a year or two before they get split into Chorus and Band. Those ones are always that dark brown plastic, though. "

"I own a couple different sizes, different woods. One antique of actual ivory that was a gift from my cousin. "

"Piano is an excellent choice. It has more versatility musically- " He paused, hearing things he did listed. " I try to be a renaissance man. I'd never heard of looking at nature listed as an enviable discipline. But that was studying its texture and colour for mixed media sketches. I can't ride my bike without handlebars?"

"You aren't doing badly yourself. Music, schooling, all the disciplines of sewing and design. Just throw a language in, or two, and you're set. Though I've heard multidisciplinary learning is part of the norm at a school high powered as Crystal Academy."

Listening, Delilah shook her head when she realized that she did know know of them. "And here I just pegged the recorder as something music teachers made students suffer through. Though I should not be surprised. Everything has a history and a different use than what we use it for now."

"Add art to you list of talents." She shook her head. If he wanted to be a renaissance man, he seemed to be doing so. "I use them to inspire me as well. Though not the same way."

"As my father would to remind me, you get what you pay for. So yes, they do expect us to enter as girls and come out as well rounded young women. Crystal is like that though."

The cold wind reminded her of one reason she did not like Crystal. "Would you like something to drink? To say thanks for chatting with me. There is a small cafe I like to go too only another block from here. It would let us dive out of the cold for a bit. Unless you needed to get going. I have kept you awhile."

Were he more crass, he could have made use of double entendre in relation to young women and 'well roundedness'. He pushed the thought aside as pointless, youthful hormone-speak. The thought of hot drinks was a really welcome diversion, "If you lead the way, I could hardly object. "

"And don't worry about the 'keeping me'. It is pleasant and worthwhile company. I don't feel up to attacking that music work just yet."

This can probably act as a closer for Quenton if you wanted to throw one on for Delilah or not?

"Who ever feels up for attacking school work?" Delilah smiled as she turned back down the sidewalk and began walking again. "And thank you. They have a wonderful Chai tea if you are interested."

She called out softly making a note to look into returning the favor for the necklace one day.
