He accidentally found them and instead of fleeing he went on to spy on them? A part of him wanted to yell at him for such a stupid thing... but at the same time he supposed it was helpful, it let them know what those circles were for as well as letting them know what these creatures were capable of. The fact that one of them could suddenly multiply into as many as were currently trying to char them was quite a lot to try to wrap his mind around. They were able to get around so fast with those circles, did that mean that they used that magic of theirs to get him here from Zena? If that was how it worked then the question became 'why' would they do that? Maybe they just didn't like him? It wouldn't be the first time that he'd run across someone that didn't like him though he supposed.
Their flight was interrupted as the boy suddenly tripped falling down to the ground, and Oulixes himself came to a stumbling halt. Turning to face him he went wide eyed then hurried over to him, "Come on, you have to get up!" He said, trying to drag the boy to his feet, not wanting him to get singed while he was down.
As the boy suddenly called out to him, warning him about something 'behind him' he found himself turning to look... only to get slammed in the back with one of the fireballs. It threw him onto the ground next to Ikamos and instantly he was rolling around, putting the fire out that had burned through the shirt he'd been wearing, "Ow... damn it..." He muttered to himself, teeth gritted slightly as he tried to drag himself back to his feet, "Come on... we need to keep going." His back was hurting but that was something he could tend to later, once he and Ikamos were free of this place.

The young boy couldn't help but gasp as Oulixes was hit by the fire, he scrambled to the other's side only to have him standing up, the fire put out, and him telling them they needed to get out of here. Ikamos agreed that this was a nightmare and he felt himself having a hard time trying to swallow, though as he went to nod his head his hand coming out to lightly touch Oulixes's arm.
The clicking sound was suddenly loud and almost like a shriek, another blast of fire came at the pair and Ikamos pushed Oulixes out of its path while he launched himself backwards to avoid the flames. One of the bug mages lept out of the shadows of the forest giving a shriek of frustration as its fire seemed to miss its target. As it went to ready another one two more emerged to help out their comrade.
Things don't look good as it looked as if the bugmen were intent on taking Oulixes and Ikamos hostage.
[Write out Oulixes battle with the bug mages. You may control Ikamos for this but he cannot be killed. Only one of the bugmen can summon fireballs, the beast from earlier is no where to be seen, though the other two bug men have swords. You may write out this battle as long as you feel is needed but the resulting battle must end with a large fiery explosion. Stop once you have accomplished this.]

Oulixes bit his lip as he looked over at Ikamos, giving him the best smile he could muster, "It's... alright." He reassured him though he found himself wondering if he should be lying to the kid in such a manner. It wasn't alright, these bugs were trying to cook them alive. What should he be doing? How could be beat them when he had no weapons? He was out numbered, had this kid to look after, and various other things that just weren't going his way. Such was life, at least his life, but Ikamos... the kid really was just as unlucky as he was, wasn't he? This was the second time he needed saving by someone like Oulixes meaning that he surely had to have pretty awful luck. There were better heroes out there after all. Still, the fact that they both kept meeting like this meant that he could do some good, he could protect the brat, keep him going even if it cost him. What were a few more scars after all when one was covered in them?
This thought was interrupted when he was suddenly shoved in one direction by Ikamos, with the boy lunging in the other one, and there was suddenly a wall of fire between them. Just when he was thinking heroic thoughts he was cut off from the one one he was supposed to be protecting... of course. No matter, he'd just have to try to fight through this, through the bugs, and back to the kid's side was all. Let's see... three of them that he could see, the beast seemingly having bolted, and two of them... they had swords. Well, his plan was set then, wasn't it? He had to get to one of them first, take the sword, and use against the others. A bold and violent sort of plan but it seemed that there was no longer a choice in the matter. Once upon a time ago he'd let one of these bug men go, they had no plans to show him the same mercy, so he would have to fight this time, fight and kill. He really was dirtying himself that much more but surely saving the kid would help balance it all out? At least he hoped so, how else would he be able to face those he actually did care for again otherwise?
Pushing off the ground Oulixes flicked his eyes from side to side, looking for something, anything that would aid him as a good weapon... and spotted the best thing he could come up with on short notice, a shard of rock, some sort of crystal from the looks of it, that was laying not too far away. After dragging in a breath he went for it. The moment he moved the bug men were on him, probably deciding that he was more of a threat then the kid was. They could take care of him easily enough after they diced up and cooked Oulixes he thought to himself in a morbid manner. At this point he wouldn't put it passed them to want to cook him. Just as his hand wrapped around the makeshift weapon more fire rained down around him, a few bits of it hitting him here and there, making him wonder if they were so pissed now that they were willing to burn down all of Jauhar just to put him down. He wouldn't put it passed them, his father had made quite a mess in the past when it came to knocking him around. Why would these creatures be any different? When violent creatures got angry they also got stupid. At least he hoped it would be the same for these things as it was with his father, at least he would have a chance then.
Lunging to the side he did his best to avoid the next onslaught of fire that was followed quickly by one of the swordsman coming at him, sword coming down in at him. He dodged, to a degree, though he felt the tip of the sword slice into his flesh. There was a splash of blood against the ground as he rolled away from the swordsman. He was just getting back to his feet when the second one was on him, thrusting its sword forward at him. Another almost dodge but at least this time the blood came with reward, that being the strength behind the blow caused the sword to stick into the ground, temporarily slowing the bug down. He moved instantly, knowing he couldn't hesitate for even a moment if he was going to get himself and Ikamos through this.
Both Oulixes and the bug swordsman were probably equally as shocked when the sharp shard of crystal sank into the bug's throat. There was a rush of blood, a gurgling sound from the creature, and it gave up its attempts to take back its sword so that it could instead take a swing at Oulixes. The punch was a solid on that sent him flying. The landing knocked the wind out of him and caused him to lose his hold on the crystal shard, the last he saw of it being when it bounced off into the underbrush and out of sight. Damn... that had been a rather useful weapon he thought to himself, dragging himself over onto his hands and knees, using the nearest tree to drag himself back up to his feet. He rested against it a moment, turning to watch the wounded bug man as he staggered toward him only to collapse, blood pooling under the swordsman from its wounded jugular. Not something the creature would be recovering from unless they had regeneration he wasn't aware of. Possible, he supposed, but he didn't have the time to worry about that.
No, the other two were shrieking up a storm and he was more then certain that more fire was on his way. Meaning that he really needed to keep ahead of them. Rushing forward he grabbed up the sword that the first swordsman left behind, dragging it out of the ground, and lifted it up to point it at the second swordsman... then thought better of it. As much as he wanted to just attack he knew he had to try to play it safer. There was Ikamos to think about after all, not to mention the mage that was backing this sword wielder up. He had to stay ahead of both of the bugs, protect the kid, all while not taking on so many wounds that he couldn't move. He was no use to Ikamos as a pin cushion. He had to think ahead... as well as take into consideration that he was already wounded several times over. Damn bugs...
Oulixes's eyes flickered around from side to side, searching out Ikamos as he back up slowly, trying to lure the second sword wielder along with him. He couldn't see him... but then again what he could see was both of the remaining bugs. That meant that neither of them had grabbed the kid as of yet. He still had a chance to keep their grimy mitts off of him.
What to do next he thought to himself, looking from side to side, then up. Seemed like as good an idea as any, it had worked against their beast after all. After a moment of thought he moved, heading for the tree, and behind him the sword carrying bug shrieked before giving chase. It was working, better then he could have hoped, maybe too much so given that the mage was following too. Around the magic user were several fireballs, whirling around him, gaining speed and power... the guy was going to send them Oulixes's way at any moment he realized. Swallowing hard he hurried up the tree as quickly as he could, stumbling a few times, but did his best to put space between himself and the bugs and at the same time space between the bugs and the boy.
"Just... run away..." He gasped to himself, hoping against hope that the kid wasn't going to stick around again. Surely he'd take this opportunity to run? To escape? To get back to his mother? If he didn't, if he stuck around, well... Oulixes would just give him a swift kick in the backside when this was all done. He normally wasn't one for kicking kids but if Ikamos stayed after all of this then he would very well deserve it.
What felt like an eternity of climbing was suddenly ended when the sword wielder appeared in front of him, cutting off the path he was taking. He lifted his weapon in time, though just barely, and the two of them crashed together. What ensued was a swift and bloody battle that had to two of them taking multiple swipes at each other, each leaving behind various sized cuts in the other. It was all too familiar pain though so he was able to push it to the back of his mind to a degree. What he couldn't push aside was the worry that, while he was going toe to toe with this one that there was still the mage to worry about. That one was probably only too eager to make him into a crispy husk of his former self. Even now, while he couldn't see him, he could smell the fire. He wasn't sure if it was what he carried or the fire from down below that had surely started a forest fore by now. All he knew for certain was that the red glow that was filling the area wasn't a good sign.
A few more exchanged blows and Oulixes saw his opening, one that came with risk... and it was a risk he was willing to take. Allowing the bug to make his attack, one that caused the sword to go through his shoulder, pinning him to the tree, he responded in turn by arching his weapon out in return, lopping off the creature's head. The head and body fell, bouncing their way down the tree, and Oulixes stood still for a moment, teeth gritting, head falling back against the tree. Cuts, bruises, and even singing was one thing but this... this was different, this was a whole new sort of pain that was enough to make even him unable to hold back some tears. There was a part of him deep down, a foolish and sentimental part that wanted to cry out, as though Yaholo would just magically appear with his hammer and end the battle for him. It wouldn't happen though. He'd rejected him, Yaholo had probably forgotten all about him, he'd moved on and found himself a stable lover, someone that didn't panic when touched. Still... it was a nice thought.
He was dragged out of the day dream when the pain in his shoulder intensified, forcing him to opening his eyes, starring at the bug mage that was standing there before him. It was close enough that he could feel the creature's breath on his skin... though that was something he barely registered as the creature put its hand on the hilt of the sword that had him pinned to the tree, pushing and twisting it. It was obvious the thing meant to make him suffer for killing two of its companions. Deserved pained, Oulixes knew that. He'd want to do the same if their positions were reversed. Gritting his teeth, tears falling down his cheeks, he hissed out, "This is... your fault... you brought me here. Dragging me from one hell to another... you... should have left me in Zena... left Ikamos alone... none of this would have happened." He'd of rather avoided murdering two creatures in such a manner but that hadn't been an option.
As though upset with his words the bug gave a shriek, pushing the sword in that much deeper, which drew an echoed sound from Oulixes though it was less rage and more pain. Damn it... this wasn't going well, was it? Where was Ikamos? Had he gotten away? Had he at least done some sort of good with his life? He looked down at the sword he was still holding, one that felt like it weighed a million pounds, before letting it drop. No use, he couldn't hold it up anymore. He turned to look at the other one, to the bug mage, then back again. That one. It was already up, he needed only to... pull. After a moment of thought, hating that it took so long for his hazy mind to concoct a plan, he lifted his foot, kicking it out at the mage. He was running on all adrenaline now, it was all he had left, and he would use it to the best of his ability.
The mage stumbled back a couple steps, hand coming free from the sword... and in turn Oulixes grabbed hold of it, pulling it free from the tree, from his flesh, and he did his best to ignore the gush of blood as he thrust forward, the already bloody blade going through the bug mage's chest and out the other side. It was a wonderful feeling, knowing that he'd likely killed the mage as well... but it was a short lived victory. The mage gave a long, loud shriek, holding its hands out to the side, gathering to it a mass of fire... and as Oulixes tried to escape the spell the world seemed to just explode into nothing but red around them.

An explosion of fire, Ikamos saw it, he felt the heat of the flames, the deafening roar. When Oulixes had told him to run he had hesitated, he had stumbled a few steps away, half turned and watched transfixed as Oulixes fought the bug men. Then there was the explosion. The force was strong enough to throw him to the ground and he covered his head with his arms as he felt the intense heat wash over him.
Then there was a moment of eerie silence, and then the sound of the fire. The crackle of leaves burning and the surrounding brush becoming bright balls of fire. Ikamos cautiously stood up, suffering nothing more than heat burns on his arms. His eyes wide as he looked over the scene, nothing was moving... a few bodies lay about but they were burned beyond recognition. At least from this distance. Lower lip trembling Ikamos fled the area, going to his village to find help.
By the time he arrived back with help and the fire put out, the bodies were looked over but Oulixes was no where to be found. The young boy told the people of his village of Oulixes' bravery, how he fought against incredible odds to save him and had sacrificed himself to make sure everyone was safe. Though people were unsure about the description of 'bug men' they couldn't deny the fact a large and intense battle had occurred. Believing that the boy was just traumatized from the experience and over exaggerating the description of the culprits they righted a small monument in Oulixes' honor for giving his life to save Ikamos. Two blades were adorned on a tombstone to mark Oulixes' passing to the next world.
The tales of Oulixes' bravery spread quickly through the shifter communities and soon into Tale.
[Everyone believes that Oulixes is dead, however this isn't true. Oulixes is very much alive, if barely. You may wrap up your quest by having Oulixes leave the area, and his thoughts on the encounter. This can be as long and short as you wish.]

The explosion was a grand one, big enough to send Oulixes flying even as he tried to escape. He flew through the air, hit a tree across the way, and fell down managing to hit every branch on the way down or so it seemed. He landed hand on the ground and didn't move, starring up at the trees over head as a few leaves fell down upon him. That was painfully unfair he thought to himself, wanting to curse out loud about the terrible landing... but really couldn't find it in himself to do so. He wasn't feeling strong enough or well enough to complain at the moment, a first for him, and it took everything that he had to drag himself up to his feet once more.
Once there he almost wished he hadn't moved... he was hurting so much and he was so very dizzy. He was losing blood, likely had broken bones, bruises, scraps and scratches all from the explosion and fall from the tree... and that wasn't including the stab wounds and burns from the earlier battle. He was so tired and wanted nothing more then to just lay down and stay down... surely people couldn't fault him for that? What if the bug men were still alive though? What if their pet returned? He couldn't continue the battle so surely that meant that it was time to retreat? Lifting a hand to his face he started forward in what he thought was the right direction. He would go and get Ikamos, go with him back to... wherever he was from. After that he'd get patched up, adding new scars to those he already had, and he'd just be on his way as per usual.
There was a voice in the back of his head that said he should look for Yaholo. A strange thought, one that had him looking around bleary eyed for a time before he realized he had zero idea where he was... and it didn't help that the forest was spinning. Bah... as though that was aiding him at all when it came to finding his way, stupid trees! He took a few more steps forward, feeling as though things were sort of tunneling around him a bit. It was a sensation he knew well, one that meant he was going to pass out soon. As such he knew he had to breath deeply, had to concentrate, had to keep going forward and maybe he would find... something? Someone? Anything really that might help him to continue on. This was the first time he felt as though he were starring death in the eye, wounded to the point that there would be no next time. This wasn't like the beatings from his father, this was far worse, far more severe, and so very exhausting.
"Keep... go...ing..." He told himself, leaning into a tree, eyes sinking closed for a moment. He leaned there for an unknown amount of time before he was pushing forward once more, stumbling along. He wasn't sure how long he'd been traveling, how far he'd made it, or even what direction he was heading in. All he knew was that he was nearly spent... and just as he collapsed to one knee he heard a voice calling out to him. The voice echoed in his ears making him feel more then a little confused. None of the words made any sense but maybe... maybe they could help him? He looked up at the men with blurry eyes. Tell them who you are looking for. He blinked a couple time, "A... lo..." No, that wasn't right, try again, "Lo... ya... need... Ya... lo... a..." No, that didn't sound right at all. Damn it. He needed Yaholo!
The men starred down at him, one of them calling out after the others, telling them they needed to get him back to a healer. One of them turned back to him then, "We will find Loya and Yaloa, just try to rest, alright?"
Oulixes starred up at them for a moment, feeling as though he needed to correct them, tell them who he was seeking... but it was too late for that. He was so very tired. Later, after he rested for a bit, he'd tell them then who it was that he was looking for. Not Loya, not Yaloa, he wanted Yaholo... but for now these men would need to suffice and for once in his life he would need to put his trust into a stranger because he couldn't keep his eyes open any longer. With that the halfbreed slipped into an unconscious state, one that would end up lasting a lot longer then he'd anticipated. He'd miss the rumors, the fact that he was dubbed hero, news of the monument set up in his honor, and a whole lot more as his body slipped into a comatose state to deal with the trauma it had been put through. Time would tell if and when he woke again...
