Wasa nodded as Zeke went over the documents in his hands, taking the offered sheet and watching the others fall on the now empty box. She always had a terrible habit of checking out when it came to paperwork and this was no different. It always showed up after you wanted a thing, after the money was spent or the time invested. How many people walked away when the time came to sign the line or click accept? She never had and couldn't imagine she would now. She'd read the forms, more to avoid being caught unawares later, but likely her name would be etched out on the bottom before Zeke and his charge hit the end of the drive way.
"I really do appreciate you coming. Both of you." She turned her head to offer a smile at Anya, not expecting to see her turn around but not wanting to exclude her from the sentiment either. "You are welcome anytime. In spring maybe, or even summer. The gardens run a little wild but they are quite beautiful."
She looked down at the soul-glass one last time. The light shone through the soul, casting a long shape of swirling glow and shadow across the patterned carpet. She'd never see anything like it again. "May I?" She asked, holding her hands in a cradle as she folded her knees beneath her. Perhaps it wasn't protocol, but it seemed... right, somehow, after carrying the bottle for so long, to be the one to set it in a box one last time.

"We're both happy to have been invited! It's nice to get away from the Lab to do these sorts of things every now and again." He loved the Lab and all but after awhile handling new Guardians and doing his job from that desk in the lobby got a little stale. Zeke enjoyed going out to meet the new faces wherever they chose and for him it was akin to a little adventure each time. It kept things fresh and it allowed him the excuse to wander, explore, and stretch his legs. He was going to do this more. "We'd be happy to see your garden when it's in full bloom too!"
When Wasa smiled at the errant queen, Anastacia did not return the expression. As always her face was a blank slate, with her lips pursed into a red line that hid her white teeth. Unlike the jovial Zeke, Anastacia was certainly not in agreement about the latter sentiment the man made. Her eyes flicked from the two humans to the door she had so unceremoniously come in through. Although she enjoyed gardens for what they were worth, the voice had not been forgotten and would not be any time soon. Raising a hand to her head the Widow grazed her fingertips against her temple and felt a tight, cold ball sink in her chest. No...She wasn't going mad. She was not crazy.
Zeke lofted a brow as Anastacia suddenly touched her head and frowned, the other one joining the first when the spider queen swiveled in the air to turn back to looking out over the snowy landscape, but did not question her actions here. Instead he tucked that away for later as well and focused on Wasa as the woman questioned him. The query left him puzzled for a moment, but when the raver caught on he was quick to pass over the bottle.
"Oh sure! Here!" It would be the last time the woman would see the soul in this form. The next time they were sure to meet, a Raevan would be returned in its stead. As Wasa let the Soul Glass go for the final time, Zeke reached over to take up the Essence and pass it to its owner for the final goodbye. "Don't wanna forget this."

Wasa tucked the the two treasures in their foam alcoves, one after the other, and saw to it they were well settled. The swirling colors of the soul seemed so faint against the black forms. Such a tiny amount of a thing, but it was going to change so much. In the shadows of the closing case, the chambers of the shell grew dark and indistinct, throwing off glimmers of iridescence. She wondered if, in all the hours spent studying and staring at the essence, she really took a moment to see it for what it was despite its unique properties. A shell, nature's design executed flawlessly to provide protection, to provide a home...
The artist rose to her feet and nodded as an unbidden confirmation. She wasn't ignorant of the increasing unease of the Raevan in the room, but she bore it with the grace of a shopkeeper turning a blind eye to the tantrum of a patron's child. It would take more than the seasonal splendor of the garden to tempt her back. Such a shame too. The spider-bodied sprites that took refuge in her rafters would no doubt be fascinated by her.
"So. I have my papers here." She straightened the pile with a series of taps with the back of her fingernail, making each leaf line up perfectly. "I think it's done." Her words couldn't stamp out the nervousness still roiling inside, but a confirming nod from the pierced man could.

When the two items were placed in their respective slots the vet took a second to press them both down to make sure they were secure. Then the case was closed and locked, sealing the bottle and it's counterpart off to the world at large. Zeke rose to his feet and took the case with him, his grip on the handle loose but steadfast. Beaming at Wasa, he had to chuckle a little when the woman tapped the papers and lined them up so neatly.
"Actually I need you to sign the papers in the folder first. Those go back with me." He gestured to the manilla folder and the pen that had been set down nearby. The case was closed but the folder would be taken out later anyway. Zeke was a big boy and could carry the thin file out no sweat. "There's about...three lines for your signature. Everything should be dated already."
He beamed as cheerily as ever and let Wasa go about that. Zeke once more turned to his wayward Raevan, who seemed to have heard the finality in both humans tones just now. The spider queen was floating closer to the two now, though her gaze was still elsewhere. "Hey Anya?"
Her head turned toward him and she gave her wings a flutter as though he had disturbed her.
"S'almost time to go."
She nodded her head in acknowledgement, closing her wings and pressing them to her back. This was good. Despite there being no other upheavals during her time in the home, the one bump in the road had left her with a soured opinion of the otherwise pretty place. Not only that, but this day had been long enough as it was and she was quite ready to simply go home and curl up with her needlework. She could delay packing for another day, Zeke be damned.

"Oh! Right!" She flexed her fingers thoroughly against the sudden cold. "Right, right, right. I guess I thought. Well, I don't know what I was thinking. Well... I know what I am thinking I just... Right. Signing." The artist spread the forms out with her fingers, seeking out the lines with the tip of her finger and then pulling out a pencil from her vest pocket. "I... oh." She found the pen clipped to the inside of the folder and turned it once in her fingers to examine the logo. "Lab 305. Nice" Very classy.
Ink flowed easily across the page. Even with her flourishes, 'Wasa' made for a quick signature. "Now..." She smiled as she tucked the forms in their sleeve and passed the packet off to Zeke, suddenly breathless. It was time to wait now, and the waiting would start as soon as the door closed behind Zeke and the case. "Done." She inhaled and exhaled smoothly. It was a shame that the raevan didn't know how much they had in common at that moment, they might have shared a smile.
"Thank you, again. For making the drive and taking the time. I look forward to seeing you again." She held out her empty hands "For any reason." She made one last attempt at a friendly look towards the Frei. "I know you'll keep them safe. And warm!"

The veterinarian chuckled at the flustered artist's stammered words and waved his hand to blow away any worry. He watched Wasa sign - in case the woman missed anything on the small printed form - and when she was done and had passed the folder back to him, Zeke added his own scrawl to a final line at the very bottom of the page. He clicked the pen as soon as the point left the page on the final flourish. It was done.
"And they're officially back with the Lab." Beaming as bright as ever, Zeke tucked the file under his arm and slipped the pen into the pocket of his jeans. He pulled out his car keys in order to make room, and took a moment to angle a black fob on the ring toward the nearest window and press the button. It wasn't just Anya who would appreciate an already warm car when they trekked back outside. "Now it's a waiting game." He winked at her. "When your Raevan is born, you'll get a phonecall for the happy news. Once they're here you can come right down to the Lab and we'll get you and them introduced and on your way home!"
He bounced on his heels with that happy energy of his, excited for the future and what that would hold for now-three people waiting for this last step before their lives changed a little more. When Wasa thanked him, Zeke held out his hand for a final shake.
"You're more than welcome to call me or the Lab at any time. If you have any questions or want an update on your Raevan's development, we'll be happy oblige you." He was going to be sure to call Wasa when the identity of the soul was revealed. Even if Dr. Kyou was still unconscious, Laz - and surely Jeremy - had the know how to do so. When the handshake ended, Zeke looked over to Anya one last time for this leg of their journey. "You ready to go, beautiful?"
A nod was all he got for an answer, but it was all he needed. Anya had slipped her layers on while the last few motions were being done and looked both snug and all to ready to go home again.
"Have a good day," was her valediction to Wasa when the pair finally left, the words muffled heavily by the scarf wrapped around the spider queen's face. As they exited she only briefly cast a glance to the artist's face and in that moment she had to wonder - and almost hope - that Wasa heard the voices too.
