[] ❧ Audrianna Hara Black ❧ []

"I am more than just a means to an end."

Audrianna shrugged when Ignazio gave her the instructions to gather information about the plant life that grew around them. She walked over to Nymeria and bent down to place the flashlight in her left hand into the huge jaws of her companion. Carrying that flashlight all night while trying to collect samples would be a rough one. Nymeria didn't care to hold it in her mouth, either, as it was her job as a familiar to tend to Audri's needs. Audrianna moved to another side of the forest while Alex moved to the other. It seemed as though Alex had taken to studying the healthy plants, while Audri was fascinated by the ones causing the miasma. The miasma was of demonic origin, which meant Audrianna would not be killed by it so easily like the others. It would severely weaken an damage her due to her human side, but it wouldn't kill her. That was still not a path she wanted to travel down.

Audrianna bent down to look at one of the plants letting off the poisonous substance. She was outside the barrier of course and couldn't touch the plant, but she could observe it. She knew exactly what type of demonic plant it was. The plant let off a smog that resembled Zyklon B in the human world. It was nasty, nasty stuff. The first inhailent of the miasma would cause lightheadedness, confusion, and vomitting. It would then progress to cause bleeding from the ears, foaming at the mouth, and death. The miasma will literally burn up the lungs. The eys will burn, the chest will burn, the heart will beat so fast that it stops. The lungs will burst at the very end and the exposed person will die. If the group was exposed for even a little bit, it would be one of the most painful experiences of their life. If it was inhaled, the person breathing the miasma would have problems breathing for the rest of their life. It was nasty stuff, what this plant was producing. Audrianna might know a way to stop it.

"Nymeria, this plant is giving off a chemical similar to Zyklon B. Remember when we encountered it, back when we ran from that Demon that was Kin to the King of Rot?" Nymeria was laying on the ground with the flashlight in her jaw as she listened to Audrianna's thoughts. "Yes I remember. Luckily I recognized it before you got too close. The King was very clever with that plant. Do you know a cure?" Nymeria liked to play these games with Audrianna. She liked to hide the answer from Audri, to see if she knew it. Of course, sometimes Audrianna thought Nymeria truly didn't know the answer. Audrianna was bent down on one knee, nose almost touching the barrier. She watched the poison seep from the plant, ever so slowly. "We need a plant that acts like amyl nitrate, sodium nitrate, sodium triosulfate, or hydroxocobalamin. Luckily for us, most plants have a good source of nitrate. Also, their flowers and fruits are a good source of Vitamin B12a." Audrianna wished her father could see her now. Studying his creations, finding the cures and antidotes he made to counter his most evil of thoughts. Would he be proud of her knowledge on his creations, or would he be ashamed that she was working with exorcists and destroying what he made to stop them? Audrianna could only wonder.

She then stood up straight, her knees cracking a bit. She starred beyond the barrier for a little bit, before she made her way over to Alex to see which healthy plant she had been studying. It was the perfect plant they needed for an antidote. Audrianna bent down and picked a specimen of the plant herself, and help it up in the moonlight. "Perfect. This is Sium Sisarum, which is very resistant to pests and diseases. It's also full of the nitrates we need to counter the effects of that miasma." The good thing about plants is that most of them were full of nitrates, but not all of them were as tough as Sium Sisarum. It seemed as though this plant wasn't here by mistake. Perhaps it was strategically placed near the toxic plant that waited beyond the barrier. Victor was talking to Ignazio, and Audri faintly heard her and Nymeria's name, but she was too busy with the antidote to respond. Ignazio could handle what ever was needed from her.

Ignazio crossed his arms over his chest as he heard the criticisms of his strategy by someone who mainly relied on their reflex to fight. But Victor brought up a few good points until he started talking about using Qi unnecessarily. Ignazio looked at the barrier and then back at Victor and sighed. ”I thought of that too, but you’re willing to risk the life a companion for scouting purposes in a forest we really don’t have a full map of and trust that her telepathy can range a far distance. Even for me using my familiars there is a range they can be from me for telepathy to work. That’s your first problem, as for being attacked by demons within such as the Chuchi, the point of the Qi lighting the way is to be used as a bug zapper. Besides with it being winter most of the demons in the forest are in hibernation although if you noticed the trees inside aren’t covered with snow due to the barrier, more than likely it’ll feel like spring or summer in there. So due to body mechanics most of the wild wolf like demons should avoid us. We should focus on the quicksand and other traps that may be left over from other exams.” he argued before looking away and looking at Audrianna then turned his away from her and looked at the forest before looking back to Victor. ”Flashlights would work better than wasting Qi that you might need later. I’d rather use something that could run out of batteries than to lose one weapon that can be used as my shield or sword.”

Ignazio turned his back to Victor and then looked at the Academy in the distance and looked at the clock tower. Time was ticking and they were losing a lot of it with this pointless argument. ”I’m not forcing you to be here. But if you want to go on your own accord, be my guest and whoever agrees with you can as well. I’m not going to come save you if you get in a bind. We’re better in numbers and the fact that the forest is one large death trap a wolf’s sense of smell won’t do any good in there with all the miasma, which by the way could be flammable at this point seeing how this barrier is keeping it contained in a specific climate.” He said as he moved his hands to his pockets and then started to walk past Victor and head closer to the forest and stopped a little ways from the barrier. ”Besides, I don’t believe in keeping useless pieces on my side, so if you’re useless and won’t follow a set strategy with less casualties and annoying side comments later, I don’t want to work with you; and that’s me talking as a friend and not as an Exorcist or a Barthomeloi. As a Barthomeloi all I have to say is get over it and follow orders the way I gave them unless you can do better and prove it. As an Exorcist all I want to say is numbers beat solo missions and our duty isn’t for glory or for being safe, because nothing is ever safe in this line of work. So either do what needs to be done or get the hell out of the way.”

With that said Ignazio raised both of his hands to the field and then two golden circles appeared around his palms before two large silver and blue glyphs appeared on barrier, Ignazio looked at the markings around the glyphs and began to perform a diagnosis mentally on the barrier for the type and style as well as any traps that may happen if it was opened wrong. ”It looks simple enough, second layer of defense, an automatic lock once passage is allowed and the energy signature changes every two hours. This will be fun. That must mean the original glyph is barrier under all the now, so that won’t help us break it without risking it killing anyone.” Ignazio thought to himself as he began to turned his left hand counter clockwise which forced the silver glyph to rotate clockwise, once he started to move his right hand the glyph expanded to cover the front surface of the barrier. ”You got to be kidding me, it’s a triple layer barrier, with two spares and an automatic kill switch. I could rewrite the spell but that take time for me to do alone, so I could engrave it in to the barrier itself or cut a small section out to create a doorway by adding access based off of Qi rather than name.” he thought to himself as he moved his hands closer together causing the golden Qi to rotate around his wrist and palms before creating a large golden glyph around the outer layer of the barrier that slowly turned as he focused as if it was a combination lock.

Victor Rodrigo de Asturias
Fighter || Aria || Exwire || 1st Year

Ignazio didn't take Victor's suggestion very well, hinting at a superiority complex. It wasn't very fun to hear him challenge Victor and label him as a useless piece as if he was a chess piece on his board. I don't think anyone here is here to be graced by your company, highness. Victor thought, referring to the fact that only he was the one who had translated and then chosen to destroy the exam papers as if to make himself indispensable. It was a rather dirty move, to withhold information and hold a leg up on everyone else and throwing in the' my way or the highway' bit made him less of a team player. "Seeing as no one but you has the details of this assignment, I don't think anyone has a choice but to follow your lead, as fun as it's been so far." Victor said as he walked up beside Ignazio to see what he was digging up on the barrier around the forest. "Plus, you'd be wrong to think I'd leave Alexandria to trek this forest with you." Victor said, fearing that Ignazio would sacrifice her before anyone else if the conditions were met.

Looking over the glyphs on the barrier wall, he could spot the mapping of a triple, self locking pattern in which was shifted every two hours or so. It was a tricky design but with two Aria's or more, it would be possible to rewrite or bypass the barrier with a design of their own. Victor thought of writing a glyph that would mirror that of the barrier's but written to reroute the Qi touching it to go around the glyph, allowing passage through. Seeing how the energy signature didn't change for a good amount of time, it would give them more than enough time to pass through. In order to get out, it would be ideal to reach the source glyph and alter it to allow their names through. Victor continued to watch the barrier as he spoke. "What are you thinking?" He said to Ignazio.

Alexandria watched the dark haired girl pluck a leaf from the plant before holding it up to the moonlight. Audrianna confirmed Alexandria’s thoughts about the plant- it was their route to nullify the effects of the poisonous miasma they would encounter within the barrier. Audri had put a name to the plant and Alexandria merely nodded, she wasn't wrong there.

Alexandria reached towards her left side; slipping a hand under her white skirt for a moment as her fingers wrapped around the hilt of her knife. Carefully removing it from the holster without cutting herself or her clothes she stuck it into the ground; moving it in a large circle around the Skirret to help loosen the soil around it. The soil was quite hard, but the blade allowed for the plant to be easily removed from the ground. Alexandria shook out the dirt from the thick roots- they were long and white in color although appeared quite fibrous.
“The roots are likely to have the most nitrates so we should make the compound from them.” Alexandria said as she pulled her knife from the ground, wiping the dirt from the blade. She began to peel the tough fibrous skin away from the thicker roots. Without the fibrous shell the Skirret roots would not only be easier to work with but would be their only real method of cleaning it. As it was unlikely anyone had a water bottle around that could be used to wash away the dirt.

Alexandria was careful to try and only remove the fibrous skin as she worked. She could hear the two Aria argue amongst each other about how perhaps they should go about their excursion through the woods and briefly someone mentioning her name. They each had valid points but it was clear Ignazio didn't enjoy being challenged on his plan. Perhaps, a bit of pride and something to prove? Alexandria hadn't forgotten the injuries Ignazio received from his father, perhaps he wasn't unlike her in that regard. Perhaps they both had something their family looked down upon.. Alas it wasn't something to dwell on as she finished skinning the last of the roots. Cutting away the stalk of the plant Alexandria handed the pale white Skirret roots to Audrianna,
“I don’t know what you did earlier- but it is the most efficient way to make the compound. After, we can divide it into samples enough for each person.” She said quietly so only Audri could hear, having not forgotten how the girl seemed to magically crush the mullein before for Ignazio’s sake.

Homura gazed lazily from left to right, this motion almost made it seem as if he were shaking his head at someone for making a foolish decision, but instead he was merely scanning the area. Homura too notice to everyone acting accordingly, he felt that it was within his best interest to live them all, to there own devices. Homura took four steps froward, stopping on his left foot which took the lead, his right foot supported him from behind. It would seem as if that he were about to attempt to do something stupid, how ever this was one of those few moments where Homura felt like being quiet. As his amber hues looked outward towards the darkness, he let out a nostalgic sigh, as he closed his eyes thinking about his past, he would find himself remembering the sight of a small child with light crimson hair, banging on a steel door, calling for help, asking to be released, wanting to know why he was there. The memories of his childhood burned in the back of his head, every time the thought about what he went through, coursed through his mind, he would tend to become more quiet, and display a more serious personality.

Homura raised his head upward pulling out a d-cig, which was quickly lit by the lighter that had already be in the palm of his left hand, Homura took a small drag from the cig, as a slight grin slowly consumed the left side of his face. "Don't know if your up there or not mom, but if I ever meet this so called *father* of mine, I promise to give him a strong right hook just for you." He thought to himself before taking another drag from the cig. Homura arched an eyebrow, as he looked towards the area where the barrier ended. Homura let out a sigh, as if someone were attempting to ruin his vibe, but instead he turned his attention towards the depths of the shadow and wondered what would shows its face next.

Ignazio chuckled lightly as he heard Victor’s crack about leaving Alexandria and then began to work on the second layer after he finished the outer layer. ”I’m rewriting the passage, that way we can pass through. Last year there was a an Aria instructor that my sister had that had the ability to phase through barriers by matching the Qi signature with the barrier, so basically I’m doing the same thing but instead of phasing through we will open a doorway. It would be nice to have a little help now, I mean, I’m good but not that good. But, what do you think. You might have a better view on this than me.” the young tamer stated before turning his head to look at Victor and gave a light smile before looking back at the barrier. As Ignazio continued to weave through the magic circle he came across something written in the script with the words ‘demons shall not pass’ he then added more Qi from his right hand to spin the glyph and quickly removed it from the code with the Qi in his left hand. He turned his eyes over to Victor to make sure he didn’t see what he did, but then again he could just say it was because of Homura. Turning his focus back to the glyph he continued working.

[] ❧ Audrianna Hara Black ❧ []

"I am more than just a means to an end."

Audrianna grabbed the roots from Alexandria. It seemed as though she was confused at how Audri crushed the plant so fast. Surely the girl had seen Fighter classes fight in action, if she was an Exwire. Plus, apparently Victor and her had fought along side each other against Ignazio. She should have seen his inhuman strength there. Audrianna couldn't take the risk of her figuring out what she really was though. They weren't treating Homura great, but that might have been because he had a bad attitude. Of course, Audri's wasn't the best either.

Audrianna looked over at Nymeria, and nodded her head to the side, signaling her to come over. Nymeria dropped the flashlight out of her mouth and came trotting over. "I'm a fighter class. I only rely on my strength in battle, not weapons or verses. If I can't crush a weak plant like mullein with my hands, I'll never be able to hold my own against something like Hydra or Behemoth." Victor probably could have crushed the plant like Audri did as well. The plant wasn't a tough one. It was weak, like a weed. If exorcists in the fighter class wouldn't crush weeds, they'd never be able to crush demons. As Nymeria came over, Audrianna reached down and scratched her head lightly. She couldn't risk people asking more questions about her strength, so she had to utilize Nymeria for crushing the roots. "Nymeria, will you turn to stone and crush these roots for me?" Audrianna bent down and placed the roots on a nearby rock. Nymeria nodded as she began to transform into her rock form. Once she was there, she walked over to the rock and stomped the roots a few times with her huge paws, until they were dust. Audrianna looked over at Alex, with an indifferent expression. "I guess we could have used two rocks to crush them ourselves, but Nymeria can do it much faster than I could." Audrianna turned from Alex as she bent down and picked up the rock that was covered in the root dust. She moved slowly, making sure none of dust spilled onto the ground. She held the rock above Nymeria. "Can you do me another favor? Will you turn to wood and grow a cactus on your back?" Nymeria nodded once more, and she did as she was asked. Once in her wooden form, Nymeria concentrated her energy and grew a small, round cactus on her back. Audrianna looked on the ground and found a rather sharp rock, and bent down and grabbed it. She used its edges to slice away the needles from the cactus. She then dropped the rock, and twisted the top off the cactus. It wasn't a hard task to do. It was like someone breaking fruit in half, and Audrianna had seen a normal human do that. Inside the cactus there was water, and Audri dumped the root dust into the water inside the cactus. She then placed the top of the cactus back on the plant and tore the cactus from Nymeria's back. It didn't hurt Nymeria, as the cactus was not part of her being.

Audrianna shook the cactus back and forth, almost like a bartender would a mixed drink. She was mixing the dust with the water so it would be more pleasant to drink. She then took the top of the cactus and dropped it on the ground, not needing the lid anymore. Nymeria transformed back into her wolf form and moved back to the spot where she was laying down. She picked the flashlight back up into her mouth, preparing for Audri and her to place them where Ignazio wanted them. Audrianna looked at the concentration inside the cactus, and there would be plenty for everyone to drink. Little did the group know, they were about to be very grateful that two half-demons were in their presence, or this antidote would never have been able to be made.

Audrianna walked with the cactus in both hands over to Homura. She was starring at the cactus the whole time as she walked, not wanting to make eye contact with the boy who had a crush on her. Audrianna still found that very strange. She was pierced, tattooed, and rude. She wasn't supposed to be appealing to men. It wasn't that she was trying to be unappealing to men, she liked what she liked and men didn't like her because of it. Not that she cared. She probably would never date or marry in her lifetime. Once she was a few steps from Homura, she looked up at him and reached the cactus out to him. Her face was also one of disinterest. "I need you to use a small flame to slightly heat this concoction. Hot enough to warm it into a tea like substance, but not too hot to burn the cactus." Audrianna was starring at him straight into his amber eyes. It showed she wasn't afraid of him, or worried about him. It also showed that she was strong and serious. Audrianna never wavered for anyone, and she wouldn't waver because this half-demon had a crush on her. There was a task to get done, and she planned on getting it done.

Ignazio explained that he had seen someone phase through a barrier and wanted to do the same by writing a glyph that matched the one used for the barrier inside. He asked for his help now, showing a welcoming smile. Victor returned it, willing to be a team again. "I think that's a great idea." He said shaking his head slightly. Victor then looked up at the glyph that Ignazio was working on. "By writing a copy of the barrier glyph that would cover just enough of the barrier to let us through, a 'back-door' would be in place. I see that you're already writing out the layer structure and..." Victor said as he watched Ignazio making changes to the access criteria. "I guess I'll take care of the Qi and security lock preferences." Victor said as he brought up his right hand, palm facing up. An orange glyph then faded in, floating above his palm. It was a standard barrier glyph that Victor could form in a moment's notice but then looked up at the glyph of the barrier Ignazio had brought up on the barrier wall. He looked to be copying it's layout in order to finely mimic the original into his hand. Victor used his left hand to make the changes, putting his finger on the vertices of the intersecting geometrical lines which determined the concentration of Qi over the projected area, and dragged his finger to move them. He then pinched the layer of the glyph that made up most of the center which determined the criteria for those authorized to move through the barrier, and lifted it out of the glyph. As he did, the orange energy was absorbed into his left hand and disappeared. In a sense, he was stripping the glyph down to the layers that he was taking responsibility for. Ignazio was working on the other layers and when done, they would be able to put the glyph together in order for it to be a complete and functioning glyph, using the barrier's own Qi. To put plainly, the process would be akin to putting a door on a wall that was painted the same color. Victor continued, moving on to the outline of the entire glyph, which was commonly circular. What was hidden within that outline was the creator's Qi signature which held together the entire glyph and allowed it to flow together, very much like an electrical converter that kept the current of Qi flowing correctly throughout the parts of the glyph. He looked up to the glyph on the barrier and looked back down at the one in his hands. There were runes in another language that identified with everyone's specific Qi signature. It was very much like a blood type except with almost the diversity that came with finger prints. Victor first put his finger on the black outline and when he did, it lit up, illuminating the runes that spun around within the outline. Victor then began to whisper to the glyph as if praying but then ran his finger along the circular line, erasing the runes that were there. When he was finished, the glyph had changed color from an orange to a pure white-like projection. Victor then whispered once more, into the glyph in another language. As he did, the outline was filled once more with runes except they were different this time around and specific to the barrier creator's Qi signature. The color did not change since that Qi was not actually in the glyph at the moment, only a blue print of sorts.

Victor's expression was intense as he focused on the task before him. He didn't notice the others behind him working on the miasma counter actor. He looked up and down at the silver and blue barrier glyph before looking down at his glyph in progress. The auto-lock design was not something he was used to working with but it was a mechanism often used on demons and intruders to keep them locked away. It was an intricate design that ran from the outer circle all the way to the center where the glyph drew it's power. It resembled the veins of a leaf, intertwined with the circles that identified those moving through the barrier. Victor 'carved' the lines into the glyph, pulling and straightening them with his left index finger. It was painstaking but after it was all said and done, it was necessary if their copy of the glyph was to be recognized by the original as an authorized addition or expansion. Victor held the white glyph in his palm, nearly finished with it now. All that was left was Ignazio's half which not only included access criteria and layer structure but the size of the barrier and it's complicated time dependent signature hopper. Victor knew that it ran along the inside of the glyph just behind the outline that he had created but it required a different set of runes that told the set of runes inside the outline when to change and what to change to. Victor looked over to Ignazio and showed him the glyph as a second opinion and a way to check his work.

Hearing that there would be no trouble when it came to riding her familiar made Lloyd happy, The little details like her familiar changing its shape or texture did not mean much to him, but would be taken into account regardless. When the beasts they would probably run into were revealed, his face remained still. No emotion washed over him, but internally, his mind had begun to race. Hydra's and Behemoth's were written about within his family castle's library. Unfortunately, in those stories, only some managed to fight the beasts, and even fewer managed to return alive. The idea of fighting either one of those beasts seemed far fetched, but if that was what they were to fight, then they would undoubtedly be pushed to their limits in such a fight. "See. I told you this place was dangerous. Now, can we please leave and do something else?" True enough, Celebron had warned him of the Forest upon their first arrival at the school, but now more than ever was the Cat Sidhe correct in his judgement. But, Lloyd fully intended to see this through, and would not hold it against his familiar should it choose to disagree with his course of action. "Even so, we can not back out after coming this far. When the books are written, they will be of the two of us. Two partners who with a group of allies slayed a beast of legend."

Their briefing on the area continued, and the barrier did seem like it would be quite the problem, but with Victor and Ignazio working together, he doubted it would be long before it was gone completely. The miasma would be a sigifigant problem if the girls could not find some type of counteraction for it. Then, the duty of practically babysitting a member of their team was given to him, and it just had to be with the only one among them who seemed to be more aggressive than Victor. "Alright." spoke Lloyd as he turned to face Homura. If they were to come out of this alive, they would need to trust one another, and entrust their backs to each other. As it stood, there were no reasons to distrust the aggressive red head, so for the time being, he would do all in his power to watch out for him. Following that came Victor's take on everything, and while there were great points brought up, he was not comfortable with putting Audrianna at the front simply because of her familiar's abilities. Even he did not know the distance his telepathy with Celebron could cover, but given how the forest seemed and with the barrier containing the miasma within, there was a high chance that it could effect the connection they had with their familiars.

From there, it was all on the two sub teams that had been given their jobs, while Lloyd and Homura merely waited for things to kick off. Until then, he was stuck, and to this, he put a hand onto Durandal's hilt. He could not wait to use his blade in battle once more, and with no telling just how many things would attack them he could not wait to use it. Talking in a calm breath, his eyes moved from Ignazio and Victor, to Audrianna and Alexandria. He was unsure of which group would finish first, but he honestly wished things would go faster. Standing around not doing anything wasn't something he wanted to make a habit out of.

Alexandria Elaine Ferdinand

Doctor || Knight || Exwire

Alexandria pushed herself from the ground and stretched her arms high above her head. She could feel the bones of her neck and back crack with the motion. Leaning down back towards the ground for a moment she picked up her knife and quickly put it back into its holster on her upper left thigh. Cocking her head to the side for a moment she watched as Audrianna had asked for the wolf’s help in crushing the white root. ‘A fighter you say? Curious then you are not on the front lines in any of Ignazio’s formations.’ She thought to herself as she watched the girl. It was a possible reality that she would serve as a “guard” of sorts for the tamer. Considering, including Homura there were three knights and another fighter to hold the front lines.

With a shrug Alexandria looked over towards Ignazio and Victor who seemed to still be working on cracking the code of the barrier. ‘I wonder how long they will take. The antidote is ready.. while heating it up will help with taste it shouldn’t be terribly bitter. Skirret is supposed to be a bit sweeter than most root vegetables. That’s what they say anyways..’ Alexandria thought as she looked towards Audrianna who was had been carrying a needless cactus over to Homura, asking for him to heat the substance. Alexandria rested her right hand on her waist for a moment as she glanced once more towards the two Aria as they seemed to be making some headway into the barrier’s mechanics. It also seemed they would be a while. Letting out a sigh the girl may have seemed to lazily fall backwards towards the ground, catching herself as her palms pressed into the dirt to twist herself back into a standing position. It wasn't to show off, rather something of a warm up. If they were about to stick their heads in the territory of a powerful demon she wanted to be prepared. Better to stretch than do nothing- there was no telling what they would find. Alexandria sat down once more and began to flatten herself over her right leg as her hands gripped the rubber bottom of her black boot.

Homura's left ear perked up slightly, as if pulled by an invisible string, the male would turn half of his form a quarter turn to the left, he took notice to footsteps that approached him from behind, as the male turned his figure towards the individual that came forth, he took notice to her features, like he usually did, as she spoke, he witnessed her eyes attempting to show an uninterested look towards his personality. The emerald maiden wished to request his assistance upon a concoction that she had made, he nodded slightly shifting his right hand towards hers, taking the potion gently from her hands, allowing for his hand to make contact with hers, just before he took her homemade potion his spoke in a more serious manner towards the woman. "Understood emerald maiden... " He broke off his usually flirty perverted side, and displayed an expression of true intentions as his amber hues reflected the resolve of his soul, he spoke in a low enough voice for only the two of them to hear. "....also after this mission is over I have a few questions I would like to ask you in private." As homura finished speaking, he would take in a deep breath, as the potion would begin to show slight signs of temperature increase, until a faint steam could be seen, he would then hand the held the remedy back towards Audrianna.

After he returned the potion to her, the crimson male would then begin the inspect the inner limits of the barrier once more, at that current moment he felt like being alone. Once he was sure he was a good safe distance away, he would take refuge atop a time worn boulder. The male looked back towards the group, each seeming to focus on an individual perspective to which they found necessary, in order to achieve their goal. Homura raised his right hand upward looking towards the rings on his fingers, he would then brush a few strand hairs back behind his ear, as he felt the tip of one of his piercings. A slight smile across his face as he thought back to his aunt Shiki Kagari, had it not been for her research on demon limiters, he would most likely still be chained to a wall back down in that s**t hole of a dungeon, which they considered to be his room. Homura let out a slight yawn, as rested his head upon his folded arms, which formed a x like shape atop his lap. It would only be a matter of seconds before he soon fell asleep. He knew if he was truly needed they (by which he refers to either Lloyd, or Ignazio) would wake up him, from his daily nap.

[] ❧ Audrianna Hara Black ❧ []

"I am more than just a means to an end."

Audrianna was not a huge fan of human contact, but how could she be? She was never hugged as a child, or given tender care. She was used and abused, the only touch she knew was a violent punch in the gut. When Homura's hands slipped onto her's, the feeling was odd. Her instincts told her that this would be the point in time where he would bring out his claws and stab through her hands, teaching her a tortuous lesson about trust. However, he merely just took the cactus from her. Audrianna watched as he heated the antidote slightly, never burning the cactus. This had to have taken a huge amount of Qi control, because creating even a small, well defined flame was hard for a half-demon. Let alone the power he was working with. It took Audrianna a long time just to control her emotions to keep a small flare of rage from causing a catastrophic earthquake. Embarrassingly, she still didn't have her full demon side under control. The Academy never gave her chances to tame it, in fear she would turn on them. And don't get Audri wrong, she had thought about destroying the Vatican once or twice.

When Homura mentioned speaking in private, Audri had a guess what it had been about. She made it clear very early that she knew who he was, but he had yet to give her a hint that he knew who she was. Surely he did, though, if a non-half demon like the teacher picked up on it so quickly. She was in fact a higher rank and has better access to records, but Audrianna saw through Homura's lie fast, so surely he saw through her's. Audri grabbed the warmed cactus back from Homura, holding it gently in her hands. She starred at Homura, rather seriously, as she simply stated "Sure." Ignazio would definitely disapprove of this, but Audrianna had questions of her own. He was the only one like her that she knew of, and it would be wrong to avoid her own kind. It's one thing to be human and have no friends, at least the world was filled with people like you. It was another to go about thinking you were the only species of your kind. That is a truly dark existence.

Steam was flowing for the cactus quickly, and Audrianna took a deep breath in of it. She held her breath for a few seconds, but then released her air in a sigh. She then turned towards the entire group, clutching the cactus tight at the height of her breasts. "Listen up everyone, I'm only gonna say this once. The antidote is complete. However, before you drink it you need to inhale the steam, hold your breath for 10 seconds, then release it. This makes sure the antidote will coat your lungs, which is one of the main organs the toxin attacks. After that you may drink. Two sips should do you." Audrianna then raised the antidote to her moth and took two sips, before bringing it down. She would let whoever wanted to go next come and grab it from her. "Very clever Princess. Not many people would have thought of using the steam to protect the lungs. Your father would be proud." Audrianna remained emotionless as Nymeria communicated with her. She tried to hide any suspicion that she was talking to her familiar at all, for fear that people would wonder why they had to talk in private all the time. "Thank you Nymeria. Though the antidote would eventually reach the lungs, it would not be as time efficient as we need it to be. The steam will get us moving faster, and protect the lungs better. You know, sometimes they don't realize how lucky they are to have me. They would have drank this cold, ran into the forest, and their lungs would have bursted." Audrianna was a big part of the team, whether they realized it or not. She knew everything her father created, she was taught at a very young age, and she knew exactly how to counter it. She sure did hope her father was proud.

Ignazio watched as Victor caught up to him quickly in terms of design and structure. Ignazio had just finished his section a few moments after Victor finished his. Ignazio brought the Qi together by pulling his arms towards his center and then allowing his palms to connect. Once they connected the forest trees began to glow with a bright green light as the barrier had been established and the hard part was complete. Moving his hands apart Ignazio placed them to his sides and watched as an outline of a door had formed in front of himself and Victor. A smile came across his face as he pulled a strand of lightly moist hair behind his ear; he hadn’t noticed this but he had been focusing so hard that he began to sweat a little. Ignazio chuckled as he turned around and saw the girls had finished their part as well and Homura didn’t destroy anything meaning Lloyd kept up his part of the plan as well. ”Good work everyone. It actually didn’t take Victor and I as long as I thought it would, looks like there is a reason why we were all put on this team together.” Ignazio said as he walked over to Audrianna as she finished explaining the antidote. Ignazio looked at the liquid inside and leaned over the steam for a few seconds taking it in as he was told then took the crafted bowel from her and took a mouth full in and swallowed it. Ignazio took a step away and held the cactus over to Victor.

”Before we go inside, I do have to tell you the one thing I have been hiding from you all about this Exam.” he said as he looked at the barrier and then to Victor then back to the group. ”I have a map to the Lake, which is why I was cutting up the exam. The item we are looking for has a barrier placed over it. I’ll retrieve the item with Victor, seeing how we’re the only ones who can erect and dispel a barrier and travel that deep underwater without needing air due to our Qi control. Depending on the guardian chosen for us, I don’t want to leave you guys as bait while Victor and I retrieve this item from the depths of the Lake. This Lake isn’t normal either, its said that Unicorns drink from it and only a pure maiden should touch it. Because of this none of us guys should physically touch the water. If the water is touched, the legend of the school says that the water shall dry up and the forest will cry and the true guardian will appear and all shall be returned to the Lord of Nightmares.” Ignazio said as he looked serious and then turned his head and looked at Homura. ”That’s what I’ve been hiding. So, shall we get moving?” he added as he quickly tried to change the subject and move on.

Ignazio looked over Victor's half of the glyph and finished just a few moments afterwards. When he was finished, he put them together and their passage was outlined. Victor smiled and nodded at their success, sharing in the victory with Ignazio who chuckled as well. He even complimented Victor, a nice thing to hear from a capable Exorcist. Audrianna and Alexandria had apparently finished their concoction with the help of Homura. I guess he can hunker down and get things done too. Victor thought as he saw Ignazio take the exotic looking container made of cactus and examine it. He took a drink and didn't look to bother him as much as the powder from before. After, Ignazio stepped closer to Victor in order to hand him the cactus. He took it in his hand and wafted the steam a bit finding it to smell like green tea or something herbal of the sorts. He took a quick swig of the brew and made a face. "Tastes like stale beer" Victor said with a smile afterwards. If the miasma was to enter then lungs as the primary means of entrance, they probably could have gotten their hands on some protective gas masks to filter the air out. It was a great feat to have formulated an antidote out of some plant they found out by the forest, Alexandria was truly capable as a Doctor. Ignazio then began to confess that he was hiding something and explained that he had a map, which was good news but what followed wasn't so much. Apparently, the lake was warded and cursed. No man was to touch the water and only a pure maiden was allowed. With no offense, Victor didn't know if they had pure maiden's with them that day. Victor looked between the others as he listened to Ignazio's critical information. He handed the cup to Lloyd before rubbing his hands together to warm them. It was still cold and the temperature had been slowly getting to him from standing still for so long. Victor hoped that the air inside the barrier would prove to be ideal and it would appear so since the trees inside were still full covered in leaves. Ignazio was ready to go and Victor was eager. "Let's do this." He said with a clap before looking over from Ignazio to the rest. Homura was still out by his lonesome and hoped someone was going to get him. Already, Victor could feel his heart begin to pump with excitement. Adrenaline would soon be entering his blood stream, giving him the edge he loved so much.
