But the Bridge is coming up..."The Moonlight Bridge was one long road, straight and beautiful under the night lights, and a perfect place for he and his bike to make up for anything they'd lost at the starting line. Nanjou had kept him from beating the pompous kid last time, but Gin had no intention of letting a 1r; act like his bike was better now; Gin took amazing care of his ride, and he was going to show that she had it in her to be the best around, just like he did!

"Hmph, a perfect start...just what I needed to get ahead of the game," the young Nanjou thought to himself as he flew through the streets, heading up to the long Moonlight Bridge in first place in the fast-paced race. A few more smooth turns and segments like the last one and he could put some distance between he and the field. But he needed to be careful...last thing he needed was to lose because he got overconfident.

Tezuka followed the rest of the pack, his hands carefully positioned on the bars.
"O...okay....It looks like I'm.....still standing up.." he spoke to himself, softly. "That's good...that's good.....That's...Gah!"
He let a hand up off of his handlebars at this, his special hat trying to fly off from the speeds at which he was traveling. He managed to catch it in the nick of time, quickly stuffing it into his uniform as he resumed driving racing, a nervous look on his face.
"Ahahah...this was....not what I had in mind when my parents told me to 'Take my new bike for a spin' Ahaha...Ha...."

It was a quick takeoff, but he could certainly do better if he really put his heart into it. Still, he was focused as much on his competition as he was the race; he only recognized the blue-haired young man from his dossier. Gin and Nix were more familiar to him than Leon for certain; the girl intrigued him, and Gin was someone he had been forced to tolerate at first in the dorms, though he was growing used to his presence. It was an easy sort of camaraderie between them...though he still wasn't at all interested in men. Put any hopes of that ship out of your mind, people.

"Let's put on a good show for the rest of them, Nix," he called from the bike deeply, easily, winking beneath his visor in her direction as he moved across the Moonlight Bridge...just as quickly as his bike would allow him.

"Tch, even though there's not suppose to be traffic, the road seems so cluttered. Maybe this is Minato's doing, trying to beef up the races..." Gin didn't normally make excuses, but he'd ended up failing to take the lead again and after four or five of these same affairs it wouldn't have been a big shocker to most that he was mumbling to himself. Still, after a few seconds he chided himself and tried not to focus on making up excuses, but on keeping his eyes on the road and getting back into this race, that way he could take the lead again and show everyone just how far he'd come since he took up biking. Compared to some people he might still be an amateur...but compared to the other steam bike contestants, he had a lifetime's more experience that he needed to put on display, here!

Saiga took off, moving at a steady, slow pace. She didn't want to pull too far ahead of the two behind her.
"Come on! You'll have to do better than that." she called back, as she moved in between the cars, driving along the bridge. She wasn't going to just hand the race to her, after all..
Kanade took off slowly, enough to Jerk Shu from his lax stance.
"You should...hold on tight." she called, hearing Saiga's taunts. "We might be picking up speed."
Jo(shu) leaned forward as she started up, thankful she didn't rocket out of the starting gate. His hands moved around her waist at this, holding onto her lightly as he felt the wind against them.
"Oh....Not too fast now." he spoke quietly, as they moved in and out of the path of the cars. Kanade's moves seemed rather slow and steady. She was...rather practiced at this. It was reassuring....

It wasn't easy to get off to a good start in a race sometimes; speeding through the streets of Port Island and coming into view of the Moonlight Bridge in short order, Tatsuya could feel the speed of his opponents and knew at once that the race wasn't going to be any kind of a blowout. There was the Speed Queen Nix riding alongside them, and another of the Expert Leaderboard regulars in Kiki-Jiki who had accepted his challenge. For his first challenge, he was certainly getting all that he could have wanted in this race; he wouldn't have wanted it any other way. The greater the challenge, the greater the thrill. Biking wasn't any fun if you didn't really get into it.

"You better watch your back," his deep, serious voice warned his opponents as his lips curled beneath the helmet...it wasn't a threat of violence or anything just yet, more a competitive blip escaping him. He was racing for fun, to let his mind go white, but also to win. You always raced to win...

Saiga grumbled as her bike didn't take off rather quick at all, instead merely driving out at a leisurely pace.
"Dammit...Too used to trying to teach Shu.." she muttered, as they came up on the bridge. Nix had rocketed ahead, and the mystery rider was right on her trail...She was stuck in the back with..
"Oh joy, I get to deal with you." she groaned, at the masked guy. She revved her engine as they started along the bridge, hoping to make up for some lost ground. However, as she did, another figure moved up beside her.
"You too?" Saiga called to Nia, driving along. "Be careful. Traffic can be a b***h this time of night."
