Ears perking with interest, Truffles looked up with wide eyes at the umbreon. Unique. Handsome. Skilled. Carrying her bag. ..wait. Snorting, Truffles blushed and faced forward again. Stupid umbreon... "Tryce. Fine." It was an interesting name... Cool, like he was.
She did not just think that!
Looking at the shop, she wrinkled her nose. She hated coming here. And Tryce's enticement only made it that much worse. "I need this job," she muttered to herself, reminded herself of why she was there. Huffing, she turned and held the small bag out to the teen. "I'll convince you after work." Looking at the shop as a bit of yelling came from inside, Truffles groaned. Another business partner meeting, most likely. Skeleton man would really be cranky today... "Gotta go." She hefted the laundry bag back up and pushed the door open, ears pinning as the yelling got louder. What the heck was going on this time?

“Alright then. Til we meet again.” Tryce nodded to her and started disappearing around the corner. The yelling, however, made him wary. Something felt off about this place. More so than usual. Slipping around the corner Tryce braced himself against the wall and listened closely. What was going on inside? Peering back towards the entrance the umbreon cursed as Truffles entered the building. Didn’t she know that was dangerous?
Biting his lip the teen looked around before planting himself right next to the door. He was not about to just leave her in there, not when something was definitely wrong. But barging in was not a good plan either…Cursing Tryce just decided to wait then. Stealing a masterpiece from a museum was less stressful than this. At the thought Tryce closed his eyes in frustration and just shook his head.

Inside, Truffles glared at the office behind the counter. This stunk. Passing in front of the counter, he peeked over the top into the office, and froze. What..? In the office, her boss, the skeleton man, stood facing down two bug thugs and a slightly smaller male with long gold hair. A pokemon adult!
Skeleton man and the pokemon adult, a raichu, were facing off. Her manager was yelling furiously at the stoic-faced offender. Suddenly, the raichu waved a hand, and Truffles' boss went quiet. "I don't have time for this," said the raichu. "We made a deal, and you're trying to weasel your way out of it. You know what that means. I don't tolerate such childish behavior.." He raised his hand again, and without a bat of an eye, a bolt of lightning shot from his palm and into the skeleton man's head. The manager went limp, and dropped straight to the ground in a heap of long, skinny limbs.
Truffles dropped the bag and stumbled back from the counter. He... He..!
Turning to leave, the raichu locked eyes with the eevee, orange gaze narrowing with satisfaction. "Ah. Perfect timing, miss. You're boss was waiting for you. ..Would someone fetch her, please?" He asked calmly, brushing his hands together as the thugs ran forward.
Crap!! Truffles darted for the door, but a set of rocks thrown by one of the thugs, a graveler adult, knocked her legs out from under her, not even having time to consider using her ability to get away, and another glanced along her head. The breath was knocked from her lungs as she hit the floor, hearing the steps thundering toward her as her head and vision spun.

That feeling. Tryce’s eyes snapped open as he recognized the faint pulse of a pokémon attack. “Dammit, kid.” Slamming open the door the umbreon quickly dived towards Truffles and scooped her up in his arms. Seeing the other poke-humans approaching her Tryce’s gaze narrowed and a growl escaped his throat. “Don’t even think about touching this kid.” And his expression wasn’t that of playful Tryce or even the snarky teen instead they were staring back at a well-trained killer, someone who had spent his life in the darkness and who had a dangerous aura . This truly was Ace then instead of Tryce.
A dark pulse radiated out from him bringing out all the shadows in the room. Scooping up Truffles in his arm the umbreon watched as the two thugs stumbled backwards away from the attack that was pushing against them. Flinching they found themselves stunned as any nightmare which haunted them flashed before their faces. The raichu still stood boldly and even when Ace moved to feint attack he just took a step back. There was silent understanding between the two of them. To fight here would be risky and fighting Ace like this was not a good idea for anyone who wanted to keep their skin. Especially not with his two companions blacked out like they were. He wasn’t stupid, the raichu recognized the dark figure before him. The underworld know of the thief who could steal anything and defy death. Only idiots would challenge him like this.
“Take her then.”
“I will.” The shiny umbreon breathed on the back of the raichu’s neck, “She won’t be back here so don’t even remember her face. She’s mine to take care of.”
The raichu laughed quietly though he was trying to handle his shock. What the hell was Ace doing here and carrying a eevee like that? She was just some kid nothing special, right? Shaking his head at the ridiculousness he watched as the umbreon carefully carried the girl out of the store.
Setting Truffles down on a bed in an apartment flat Tryce stared down at her for a bit and finally poked her forehead repeatedly with a lazy smirk on his face, “You alright there kid? Took quit a spill there.”

What happened...? Someone had grabbed her... There'd been angry voices... It'd been so dark... The sharp pain...
Groaning, Truffles smacked at whatever was poking at her. "go'way," she grumped, turning away from- ....Her eyes popped open, and she sat up quickly, wincing as a sharp pain shot through her head from moving so suddenly. She squinted through the ache at the strange place she was in. Where was she? Oh!
Her gaze shifted over to the shiny teen, eyes squinting slightly. "I didn't spill!" she suddenly howled, head aching even more as most of her memories returned. "Skeleton man! Skeleton man! He's-!" Her hands gripped the bed, her lip trembling slightly. Her boss had been a jerk, but to murder him...? And that guy with the electric power... He'd looked right at her... He'd sent those big guys to grab her... How was she here with Tryce, and not in their hands? What had he said? Her boss had been waiting?
"Tryce..." Her eyes began to water, but she quickly blinked the emotion away. She couldn't cry in front of Mr. Shinyhead! "How did I get here?" she asked instead, slowly releasing the sheet from one hand in order to reach toward her leg. The pants were torn, and she could see a dark bruise forming.

Even though his smile was mischievous the relief in his gaze was obvious. She was alright then. Tryce was still ruffled from what had happened earlier at the shop. If he hadn’t been there with her…would she still be…no. The umbreon shoved the thought quickly aside. She was a tough kid and he had been there. So it was alright. She was here and obviously alive. Sitting on the edge of the bed Tryce watched as she began to really come around again, “Okay fine. You tumbled…better?”
His smart assed replies ended there as he watched the emotions spilling over her face, “Truffles…” The teen’s gaze was intense before he did something unlike him. The umbreon reached out and hugging her held her in his arms tightly, “Hey, you don’t have to hide it.” He grinned at her though his gaze was sincere, “I won’t tell anyone, kay?” Playfully though he rubbed her head, “Give me a moment to get over my shock as well ya know. I need some physical comfort here.” Resting his chin on top of her head Tryce’s gaze was somber despite his light voice, “But really I told you that place was bad.”
Pulling back before she mauled him the umbreon paused for a moment and finally he sighed, “Don’t ever go back to that place Truffles. Just forget it even existed alright? I don’t want you near that part of town ever again either…don’t make me carry you out of someplace like that again.” His ears tilted backwards. The last thing he wanted to do was to have to dive in and save her…it was much better if he could just see her safe. This kid…was just a kid. Why was this happening around her? Such a cruel world it was. That’s why he lived to defeat the system, anything that the light tried to hide he would uncover in the darkness and that was his way of life. He was a part of the shadows that everyone tried to ignore.
Leaning back he looked around at the room, “As it is you really ruffled my bed. Be proud you’re the first girl to see the inside of my place.” He teased quietly glancing about the penthouse. Truffles was lying on the large black circular bed with silken sheets while behind the chair he had placed next to the bed the electric fireplace crackled in the wall. Dark purple and black curtains were pulled aside so that the city lights could shine in from the high up room in the multiple story building. Hanging on the walls were several paintings (some oddly reminiscent of rather expensive works) while others seemed more unique in the fact that they had been painted by an unknown artist. It was a very stylish room, yet it felt rarely used as if the umbreon rarely stayed there long. Like him it was simple yet complex and very elegant. Around the corner was a kitchen and living area while the restroom was on the other side of the bedroom.
Still he wondered how long he would even be living here, but this time he had made certain that the room was far from being connected to his name. Glancing back at the fireplace he made it his excuse to get up and stretch his legs, “Might be chilly in here with the cold outside.” Tapping a button he watched as the flames roared back to life and heat started to radiate again from the wall, “Better?” He glanced over his shoulder towards Truffles curiously. Honestly taking her back here was the last thing he ever wanted to do, but the kid needed a safe place and he was not about to let her wander back to the forest with those thugs wandering about out there.

Tumbled... What a jerk. When the hug came, she was caught completely off guard. She stiffened up, and held the emotion even tighter to herself. Tryce... he'd risked himself to save her. She'd been so weak, and now he was telling her she could be weak again? No! Truly, Tryce did back away in time to keep her from smacking a palm at his nose. Who did he think he was, hugging her like that?!
As Tryce warned her away from where she'd worked, she felt her stomach tighten, her ears drooping down. Would... would those guys really be after her? She'd seen them kill a man... She could point them out. Why was Tryce so worried about her? She looked over at the shiny teen, lips pressing tightly. "As if I would go back there," she said with a snort, wincing as it sent a shock of pain through her head again. "Don't have a job anymore to go back to..." She took a deep breath and held it to keep the tears away again. How was she supposed to take care of Aatami now?
Of course, Tryce's snarky comments pulled her mind from the dark places. "I what?!" Cheeks flushing bright red, she turned to scoot right off the bed, nearly falling again as she put weight onto her injured leg, forced to remain sitting on the dreadful thing. It didn't feel broken, but it hurt like heck. She bit on her lip to keep from whining. Stupid leg. Stupid head. Stupid rock guy. Stupid Skeleton man.... A shiver went through her as she thought about the electrical man. Those orange eyes... "So, how long ya planning ta keep me here?" she asked shortly, trying hard to not be impressed with the penthouse. Her little shack could fit in here.

She was such a tough kid. Tryce was amused at the thought and even though worry gnawed at him the umbreon pushed it aside. He understood. Showing emotions was hard and it was better sometimes to just bottle them up. Leaning against the wall he watched her with a neutral expression. Of course the kid would be torn up about this…Tryce remembered the first time he watched someone die before him. Then the first time he had even…the teen sighed quietly, “Well the job part I wouldn’t worry about as much, kid. I think your life is a bit more important right now.”
Bingo. Getting her flustered always amused Tryce and he was glad he could distract her a bit, “Sure did. You tossed quite a bit for a couple of minutes there.” He teased the usual grin back in place. Immediately though it vanished as she stumbled and the umbreon returned to her side, “Are you alright?” He asked his gaze studying her quietly, “I didn’t realize your leg was hurt that badly.” He frowned. There was definitely no way he was letting her go back tonight then.
Almost as if she could read his mind Tryce blinked at the question, “Hmm…” Rubbing his chin with his fingers the umbreon studied her up and down, “If you had longer hair it would work as a Rapunzel situation, but since not…I suppose until you can actually walk well? Or at least until morning so that I can carry you back to the forest…but can I trust you to stay there until you recover?” He peered at her, his features light and teasing. “I know you enjoy being carried so much, but maybe it would be for the best if you rested here.” He looked around, “I have nothing planned anyways with my life. Do you want something in particular to eat and also…” He looked at her torn pants and shuffled around and threw a baggy shirt at her along with a pair of tie shorts, “You could wear that if you want bathroom is over to the left and there’s a shower if you want to use it. I’ll fix some food, hobbles.”

Blush still hot on her cheeks, she kept her gaze down as Tyrce hurried over to check on her. "I'm.. fine," she murmured, gripping her knee in irritation. "Just a big bruise is all." She thought back on the fight she'd had to run from, when she'd learned her ability. Those stupid boys and their rigged wrestling match... This felt like she'd gotten another kick from that bull-headed teen.
Blinking, she looked over at Tryce with confusion. "Ruh.. pun.. zil?" It took her a moment to realize what Tryce was suggesting. Stay...? Looking at the clothes tossed into her lap, her eyes widened and she shook her head. "No! I have to go back home. My brother will wonder where I am!" She bared her teeth, more irritated at herself than Tryce. "And I can walk myself! Quite trying to feel me up, you perv."

“Big bruise, big sprain same thing right?” Retorted Tryce with a sigh. It did not surprise him in the slightest that Truffles would refuse to admit being injured. It was slightly hard for her to hide the evidence with that attempt at standing. His ears went back against his head in frustration. He really was going to have to fight with her on this. Though this time he was not about to budge and whether she liked it or not the girl was going to stay here for the night so that he could watch over her.
His gaze softened at her confusion of the tale. That was right…maybe she didn’t know about some fairytales then, “A princess with long hair who was locked up in a tower all of her life.” He quietly explained while moving about his room checking that everything was in place and that other things were still out of sight. He hadn’t left anything lying about had he? No, then that was a relief. While he moved her protests reached numbed ears.
“I think it would be easier to explain to your brother that you aren’t coming home for the night rather than the fact you can’t walk, no?” He replied looking over his shoulder at her, “Would your brother even be home tonight to realize you are gone?” Tryce frowned, “Just staying one night won’t kill you, actually going back now…” Well that actually could kill her possibly, “Anyways it’s easier for me to watch you here than to stay in a tree all night staring at your home. Plus do you want your brother to know about me?” He grinned ever so innocently, “We could explain to him about your work place and what happened today then how you stayed here for a bit with a guy like me…or you can just explain to him that you had to stay out for a night with a friend or for work.”
He raised an eyebrow at the last comment, “Well, okay then. Too bad there’s nothing to ‘feel up’ there kid.” Walking past her Tryce patted her head playfully again, “Anyways go clean up the bathtub isn’t hard to use. You can rest your leg in some warm water while I cook something up. Don’t make me have to help you into the bath either no matter how much you may want that.” He winked mischievously at her before walking from the room. Nothing easier than flustering that kid, he chuckled softly under his breath at the thought.

Truffles huffed and gripped her knee harder. Stupid leg! Why did she have to be so weak?! Even though, really, that rock would have outright broken the leg of any other girl her size...
Princess... No. She was no such thing. That was fine with her. "He should be home," she murmured softly, her gaze shifting to the window overlooking the bright city lights. She'd never seen the city like this before... Aatami would have hated how high they were. Well, he should be fine for one night, right? "Fine... He'll wonder 'bout the bruise anyway. I'll just tell 'im I went to that medical place for the night."
Nothing to feel...? Her face turned bright red now. She'd set that one up for him with a pretty bow... Stupid aching head. She couldn't even shoot a retort back yet. "I can walk myself," she grumbled weakly, carefully pushing herself to stand once Tryce had left her line of vision. It was slow going, limping over to where the umbreon had pointed. This place was huge! And fancy! It had its own bathroom! Pushing the door s**t, she needed a good minute to figure out how to set the bath properly. She had to find a towel, and.... and have the guts to change. Blushing hotly, she double checked that the door was shut before climbing into the tub. Oooooooh.... This was heaven..... She sighed contently, and sank into the hot water until it was just below her nose. She could sit there forever...

Tryce watched Truffles his smile slowly spreading as he realized she was actually listening to his logic. So he won this round then. That was good. The umbreon was definitely intent on protecting this kid, especially after what she had just witnessed earlier. His gaze softened just a bit before he turned away and headed out of the bedroom. Careful to close the door behind him he gave the eevee plenty of privacy before looking around his kitchen. Standing there Tryce tilted his head thoughtfully with his hands placed on each hip. Did he even have food in here?
“Well guess we’ll just have to make due with what I have here.” He commented with amusement before starting to shift through the mostly empty cabinets. It was a hard life when he mostly fed himself and went out to eat a lot or to bother with Shou. Especially since he had just recently gotten this place the umbreon preference for crashing at his friend’s apartment was an accepted thing. Tail swishing Tryce tossed a loaf of bread onto the counter and then opened the slim refrigerator to look inside. Several bottles of wine, some milk, a thing of eggs, and no meat...”Don’t think just having wine for dinner would be good for her.” He laughed quietly at the thought before pulling out the eggs and milk, ”Breakfast it is.”
Pulling down some vanilla and cinnamon along with powdered sugar Tryce got to work. Soon the apartment was sizzling with the sound of French toast being tossed onto plates and set on the counter table. Turning the stove off the umbreon stared at the plates and finally realized something. There was no syrup. But wait a second…returning back to the fridge he tossed aside a bottle of juice and pulled out strawberries. “Here we are." Slicing them the umbreon used sugar and some milk to make a weird glaze to cover the French toast with. “Done.” He smiled proud of his accomplishment before making a note to run to a grocery store the next morning.
Not like the kid was staying with him for long so this was alright.

Truffles might have actually laid in the hot water all night, but the smells of the kitchen faintly began to filter into the bathroom. Her ears perked, and she looked over at the door, and her stomach growled loudly. Dang... she hadn't eaten since... that morning?
The water was cooling though, she it wasn't too hard to leave the tub. Well, emotionally. Physically... she pretty much oozed over the side of the tub, her muscles limp and sore from the beating and then the hot soak. Leaning against the sink for support, she looked at the over-sized clothing she'd been tossed and frowned. Were these... his clothes? ...Weird. Still, it would be best to clean her clothes before putting them back on. Carefully tying the shorts and pulling on the shirt, she tossed her regular clothes right into the tub to let them soak as well.
It was another slow trip as she headed toward the kitchen, following the wall so that she could keep a hand on it as she walked. She sniffed the air lightly, feeling her stomach complain again. It smelled yummy... "I'm done," she called out, peeking into the kitchen.

Fixing the food wasn’t the hard part, waiting was. Tryce found himself pacing and wondering if the kid had drowned at this point. Tail swishing behind him the umbreon turned on his feet as she called out, “So you are alive.” Smirking he looked up at the clock and frowned. Had it really only been five minutes since he had finished cooking? That clock had to be messed up. Looking back at Truffle he had to grin. There was just something funny about seeing the kid in those clothes.
“Can you make it out here?” He walked towards her and gestured towards the counter where the stools were, “I should probably help you up there, gimpy.” Without even waiting for a response the teen just scooped her up and dropped her on a stool, “Dinner is this, you want something else then I hope you like air.” He smiled ever so pleasantly before opening the fridge thoughtfully, “Water, juice, or some milk?” He looked at the mostly empty jug before touching a bottle of wine, “Unless you drink…not that you should.” Tryce looked back at her with a frown before grabbing a glass and pouring himself water despite the sweet temptation of the red wine staring at him. Getting another glass he held it in front of her questioningly, “Pick your poison, kid.”

Truffles stuck her tongue out. She hadn't taken that long! ..right? Though, if she had a tub like that, she'd be in it a lot more often!
"I can make it fine. Got over here all by myse-!" Her voice caught as she was hefted up, and then dumped onto the stool. "...hmph," she huffed, crossing her arms indignantly. Of all the... the.... food!!! Her violet gaze locked onto the plate in front of her. Whatever this was, it looked delicious!
She was hardly paying any mind to what Tryce was trying to tell her, taking huge bites of the french toast to get in as much as she could to fill her belly. Nevermind stretching it out. This was going down now! When she finally noticed the glass being held in front of her face, she blinked at it curiously. "....Whatchya got?" she asked around a mouthful of bread.
