A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

PostPosted: Sun Jan 12, 2014 10:59 am

"I did." As he should have done, or so he had thought back then. What aoidei would not defend his master ?

"He feels like he was abandoned. And then what happened to his mother did not help, either... I tried to convince him otherwise. The pain was raw back then. It probably still is, in some way. Your presence probably reminded him of things he would rather not think about. I honestly doubt he meant any true offence, my lady." It took a lot for Akakios to truly lash out on somebody in anger. But eventually the dam pushed too hard and it broke.

"Though I will admit I had hoped my lord would prove me right eventually." Prove him right and return, try to mend things... But now it seemed too late. It was obvious Nergal still existed in some way, or the realm would be gone again. So it was starting to look more and more like blatant discard for the world above, much like it had been before. He was not sure what to think about that. Him being pushed aside was one thing - who needed a broken servant - but his family ?

"Yes, it is a sad state of affairs, though I understand he has found his place in this world. He is fairly close with the other members of his family. Ankou's family. He has loved ones and I believe is rebuilding his relationship with his mother." Still there had been so much grief to get to that point.
"You see the best in people I feel. It's a good quality. Though, I feel misplaced where Nergal is concerned. He was always selfish. I don't believe he will return soon, if ever. The realm is overflowing and Ankou is struggling to keep up with his task yet Nergal doesn't stir. What Underworld god can ignore the pleas and cries of the dead?"

There was a chuckle thick with self-loathing that followed Underworld's comment. "Or half-blind, perhaps." Both literally and figuratively. "I certainly did not use to be that way."

He would not have lasted long in his position, otherwise.

"I wish I could answer you." Ianthe admitted. But he had no answer as to what happened. No one did.

"That was a rhetorical question. Nergal's fate is beginning to concern me less and less." She sipped her tea and gave him a small smirk. "Rebuilding, or continuing what he started is not going to be easy and it is certainly not going to be a quick process. I would very much like for you to help me in any way you can. I will strive to find a way to heal you, perhaps rebuilding the realm will help, perhaps not but we won't know until we try. Unless you are truely content pottering around here?"

Was he ? He certainly felt like it was his due, though was he truly content with this ? It was lonely, and while lonely work he could certainly handle, lonely with nothing to do at all was quite the burden.

He knew that there was a line that, once he crossed it, he could not backtrack it again. But was it not better to serve someone who wanted him - even if simply because of a lack of options - or wait forever for someone who might never return ?

"I will... do my best. my lady." That was the only thing he could truly promise.

Valyrmora had not expected him to jump for joy, it was clear that he was lost and needed to rebuild his worth and confidence. It would take time but she truly hoped that he would regain something of his old self.
"Thank you, I promise you will not regret this decision. Should Nergal return then I am sure he will be pleased with what we manage to rebuild."

That or he would be pissed off that another had meddled in his affairs, but Ianthe saw no need to mention that. It was obvious enough.

"Should I stay here until you have a need of me, my lady ?"

If Val could have read his thoughts she would have laughed. Really, she couldn't care less what Nergal thought of her plans, he was gone and had to suffer the consequences of that. She had a job to do.

"If it is where you feel comfortable?" She replied. "Thank you for listening to me Ianthe."

That was certainly another double-edged question, as far as he was concerned. Was he ? "I felt like I had nowhere else to go where I would not be in someone's way." He had not lacked of places to go, or people who have taken him, he knew this, so to say he had nowhere to go was inaccurate. He simply felt like he would have held everyone back rather than helped.

"You are welcome to join me in the Spirit Guide's rooms, though they are noisy with the children running around. If you like your peace this may be the best place."

"I do not mind." Not anymore, at least. There had once been children running down these very halls, after all. It had been difficult at the start, and he likely would need to get used to it again now, but it seemed better than to stay here.

"I will come, my lady."

Val smiled at his choice.
"Excellent, I will help you myself when you are ready." Of course she had not discussed it with Ankou but she was sure it wouldn't be a problem. "Would you like to come with me right now? Do you have many things to move?"

"Only some clothing." Ianthe did not truly own that many objects at all. And hopefully he would be able to carry what he had himself. It would be quite embarrassing - not to mention quite wrong - if the lady needed to do so for him.

Val gave a nod.
"Let's go then shall we?"
