Huong glanced at Dongo, then gave him a nudge with her paw. "Come on, now, surely YOU have something to reflect on about the past!" Just how many brothers and sisters did he have that he may have missed? Finding one brother in the pride, and two sisters in the now-neighboring pride, had certainly been a pleasant thing. That left some questions, though. How were his other brothers and sister? She rumbled at Kalanu, nuzzling her. "Anyway... Yes, it IS about reflecting on what we've lost... But we can also use it as a chance to, as your father put it, look at what we've also gained."

He stuck his tongue out playfully at his mate, then moved and settled on her other side. "Well, admittedly... I do wonder how my father's doing." He made a face between a grin and a grimace - Almost like a pained and embarrassed smile - at the thought. "Has he gotten any MORE lionesses pregnant...?" He glanced at Kalanu, smiling rather sheepishly. "He's sired a LOT of progeny... With more than one lioness..." He noticed the look Huong was giving him. "I'm not like that. I'll sire a lot of progeny with only ONE lioness." Which now made him wonder... How many more cubs were in their future? Probably a lot.

Yinehi sighed and rolled her eyes at Tsi-Tsi for blaming her, but she never stopped smiling. She was perfectly content with her decision to encourage her brothers to participate, even though they had not advanced very far in the competition. It wasn't just about winning.

"Oh, Tsi-Tsi, you're being too hard on yourself," she said, resisting the urge to give her aching brother a shove, "Haven't you had fun?"

Kalanu smiled at her mother but she couldn't hide a cringe when Dongo described the exploits of her father. It didn't seem like anything to talk about so casually, having so many living mates.. but not talking about it didn't mean it didn't happen outside the pride, and outside the pride was where much of their extended family lived. She didn't have anything to say on that topic, and she didn't really want to, so she gladly focused on the last thing he said. He even used the future tense!

"So, you going to have more?" she asked with a grin, "What's the hold up?"

Urzlan made sure to be quiet and respectful of those around him as he joined in the moon ceremony. having joined the pride during the last festival, he knew this particular ceremony was one to take time to reflect on things from the past year. he couldn't believe it had been a year already that he and his mate Aara had decided to join and make their home here. he was more than happy they had decided to and would do it all over again as they were happy together. though he would always miss his brothers and sisters and once in a while he wondered where they were or if they were still alive. there was no regret that he had left his family to go on his own after they had lost their homes twice as he never would of found Ara. even though he missed his family deeply, he could only hope that they were all ok and had found happiness like he had.

Makal shrugged his shoulders. "I suppose. I still lost pretty early on, though it was nice to be able to watch some of the other battles going on. Hopefully we'll do better next year, right?" Makal said with a wink to Tsi-Tsi. "Maybe Yinehi will have a mate she can wrangle into it next year too."

It'd be interesting to see the changes next year's Festival would bring them...and part of him thought that the Moon Ceremony was good to reflect on all changes in the past year, good or bad.

She gave Dongo a slightly alarmed look. "Dongo, why would you mention your father's doings?!" She could hardly conceive of a male sleeping with multiple females. A part of her worried if those had been WILLING, and for a moment she remembered her previous pride and the males who had attacked it. She got up, pushing the male's head down. "Promise not to talk about that so casually again, dear, or you sleep OUTSIDE the den!"

As she sat on his back, her attention turned to their daughter. "We're hoping to!" She gave Kalanu a sobering look. "We already had the discussion with Awen about her moving out of the den, so to speak, because it won't have room for your still-home siblings AND a litter of cubs."

Humoring his mate, Dongo lay on the ground under her. He peeked out of under his mane, noting her displeasure at him. "Just think of it as he had too much love for just one lioness. So he shared it. That's why your kids need to be careful who they're looking at for a mate..." He gave a sheepish grin. "I think I have two half-sisters in the pride, and there's one full brother..." He pushed himself up, making Huong tumble off. "Come on, get off of me..." He stretched out, then flopped back down, letting out a yawn. "The hold-up... Is that we can only... Um..." His cheeks turned orange. "You know, this is getting a bit awkward..." He put his head down and pretended to start sleeping.

Huong, laying on her back now, covered her face with her paws. "Oh Goddess, Dongo..."

Tsi-Tsi snorted in response to his sister. Even if there had been the tiniest bit of fun - not that there had been! - he wouldn't admit it to her. Because that was the brotherly way to do it.

Makal on the other hand...

"That sounds more interesting, to be honest. Maybe if I watched next year, I could - maybe - do better the year after," Tsi-Tsi was just thinking out loud, but it was an interesting idea, and one that wouldn't have occurred to him without his brother's help.

When the older lion mentioned Yinehi in the tournament though, the yellow lion's face lit up in a grin.

"Great idea Makal!" he chimed in. "That way, Yinehi can show us how it's done." He smirked at the lioness.

Yinehi made a point of beaming at Makal and scowling at Tsi-Tsi, sticking out her tongue when the conversation was turned on her- despite the fact that she thought the potential for yearly improvement would be very interesting to watch.

"Maybe next year you guys will have mates to impress, and you'll have to do better!" she said brightly.

Kalanu was startled by her mother's sudden severity in reminding Dongo about what wasn't appropriate to mention in casual conversation, but she was privately pleased- and rather amused at the position they ended up in.

And she wasn't at all put off by the mention of her siblings or how awkward the conversation was getting, she was immediately back to grinning about it.

"So it's just time to kick everybody else out of the den, is it?"

She laughed, perhaps a little too loudly.

"Psh, like that'll ever happen," the yellow lion scoffed. Him? Mated? Not that quickly! It wasn't that he didn't ever want a mate, Tsi-Tsi simply didn't see himself settling down in the next couple years. Maybe when he was older, like their parents' age. That would be a good time.

"I think Yinehi wants to be a matchmaker," he teased, nudging Makal.

Really, why did Yinehi like to pick on her brothers so much? It was silly.

Huong gave Dongo another nudge, then sighed as he let out a slight snore. Maybe he WAS asleep... She looked at Kalanu, grinning. "Yup, time to kick them out." She sat down, then stretched her back. "Only time will tell now if there WILL be cubs or not... And if so, how many." The dark lioness settled down by her mate, then smiled at their daughter. "Now, for old time's sake... Come sleep by us. It's getting rather late..."

Yinehi looked genuinely surprised at Tsi-Tsi's scoffing at the idea of ever being mated. She understood it wasn't something to actually treat like a joke but this was different, and saying it like that was disappointing. Very disappointing indeed!

"You're such a downer, Tsi-Tsi," she said with an exaggerated sigh, "I'm going to go see if I can find Dohi. Have a good night, boys."

She pushed herself up and away, turning back to stick her tongue out at her brothers one last time before getting lost in the crowd in search of their sister.

Kalanu snickered quietly at her father's snore and smiled at her mother. She wasn't entirely sure she was ready to sleep but she was happy to settle in for the night beside her parents, so she nodded and made herself comfortable.

"Good night."

Tsi-tsi waited until his sister had stalked out of easy hearing distance before letting out his breath in a long rush and collapsing onto the soft grass. Dealing with Yinehi was...well, it wasn't as bad as if she was their parents, but still!

He was sure she'd make a great mother. He just didn't need his sister to be his mother.

But boy, now that she wasn't nearby to see, he was going to just...lie here for a bit. Let his poor bruises and strained muscles relax. That sounded good.
