If she was going to use his own language against him, she had another thing coming to her. "Sie sind besonder... nur wie jecter sonst" He hissed, lips curling up into a much more cruel smile once more. "Sie dumm fuhrt. Verpiss dich!"Moon language. Pah! Well, if he couldn't be nice, at least he could be mean in a language she wouldn't understand, right? "But vhile am not trying to be grumpy all of time, it is just who I am." He shrugged his shoulders, the snowball that was clutched in his hands numbing his fingers. Her next words surprised him, however. "Like me? Vhy?" He couldn't quite process it. He had been nothing but mean to her from the moment they met, yet she wanted to be his friend? It was....well, it was exactly what she had called him. Weird. "You are still pest, but maybe am villing to be friends too." He said, momentarily distracted by his own thoughts. And then the snowball happened. With a startled sound, he jumped to the side, attempting to dodge what she threw while simultaneously lobbing a snowball back at her. "Or maybe am not so villing." He growled, though there was a smile on his face when he pushed himself back up from the snow and began brushing himself off.

"DON'T BE RUDE!" Helmut shrieked accusingly, pointing at him as if going to tattle on him any second now. She had no clue what he had said, but she knew by his tone of voice and his smile that it probably wasn't nice. He tried to tell her that he was naturally that way, but she simply couldn't believe him. She had never met anyone with his level of grump where said grump wasn't for any particular reason, so she simply couldn't accept that.
"I don't know, I just do." She explained unhelpfully, though as if she were stating a fact. She had no idea why she liked him, but she did. Maybe because he reacted so dramatically to most of what she said or did, unlike Hel who just asserted her dominance.
"Y-YOU WILL?! YAY! Does that mean you'll be nicer to me? Maybe a little? Please?!" It seemed she overlooked the fact that she had sneak attacked him, or that his snowball had hit her helmet and was currently sliding down it's muzzle, or even that he was taking the notion back. He'd already said it. It was real. He was going to try to be her friend.
BEST. DAY. EVER.

Ugh. Ghouls voices were so shrill and obnoxious at times! His ears shifted downwards even as he cringed, his eyes squinting. "Is rude to screech." He pointed out. "And to point." See, she was being way more rude then he was! He totally felt validated in the insults he had just spoken in a language she couldn't even understand. "Don't vorry. Only called you special." Among other things. Other, very much not nice at all things. Even the "special" wasn't meant as a compliment. He cringed again when she began to shout for what felt like the millionth time since he met her. After all, the first words she had ever spoken to him had been in an ear shattering yell! Still, despite himself, he found that he had stopped to think her words over. Would he be nicer to her? It was hard to say. His gruff attitude wasn't exactly held in reserve for only a select few. Even his friends had to put up with his attitude. "Vill try." He finally said. "But vill not alvays be." Of course, best to let her know that right off the bat. And now that, for the moment, it seemed like they were finished pummeling each other with snow, he shifted on his feet. He had wished to santa that he would be able to look at a ghoul and treat her normally, and here he was, doing just that! Of course, the shape of her body was hidden beneath layers of clothes, and her face was often obscured by a helmet that slid around her head constantly. On top of all of that, she liked him. Maybe just as a friend, but it was still a different feeling all together to be told that by anyone, especially a ghoul. He had a problem, and he knew that, but how could he hope to make it better if he never did anything about it? He considered that, then considered her for a moment while tilting his head to the side, tapping on his chin with a black claw, as if in deep thought. "Vould maybe help to know you better, nah? How about, next time Student Council holds event, I vill be taking you. Like a...hm...vord is date, I think." There, he did it. He asked a ghoul out. Surely that was a step in the right direction!

"Yeah, well..." For a moment Helmut was at a loss for words, but she at least retracted her hand quickly, as though shocked. "...It's rude to say secret things in your moon language!" Even if he did call her special, which she was clearly choosing to take as a good thing since she didn't press the issue and was actually smiling.
"I'll take it! I'll be here to tell you when you're being a grumpy butt." She nodded solemnly, deciding that this was a deal and a mutual agreement and couldn't possibly go wrong at all. The ghoul shifted from foot to foot excitedly, very happy to have Matty on the same page as her when it came to their friendship, which she had decided was an actual thing a long time ago. The movement stopped though, as he suggested they go on a date.
Date.
Matty wanted to go on a date with her? Matty?
There was a long and rather uncharacteristic silence that followed as Helmut just stared at him, wide-eyed and surprised. Maybe he used the word wrong. He did speak moon, after all. Maybe on the moon, date meant pillows, which didn't make sense but. Date. She'd never been on a date before, but would be lying if she said she didn't want to try it at least once. It was the thing to do, right? That's what people her age were supposed to do...right?
"U-um, Yes, okay! A date, THAT'S, um, cool. Okay." Her gaze had dropped to her feet, one of which toed at the ground sheepishly. "I'veneverbeenonadatebefore."

"Is rude to call vords of my people 'moon language'." He muttered, eyes narrowing at her, though he felt a small sense of elation to see her put her hand down. Score one for him! Though her smile was slightly disconcerting... Oh ya, the "special" thing. Haha. Apparently they had both agreed upon something, however, and that was that they were going to be friends. He wasn't sure how it had all come to this, and more, he had very little idea at all what had made him ask her out on a date, except that he was hoping that it might help him, in a way, to get passed his little problem, which was altogether the wrong reason to ask a ghoul out, but he didn't know this. "And I vill continue to call you pest, because that is vut are." He gave a sharp nod in return, though it was combined with an amused looking smile. And then she was stumbling all over her words, and he wondered if he had made a huge mistake. Was dating some kind of big deal? Was it something he shouldn't have asked? She seemed to be awfully flustered, all of a sudden, and was even dropping her gaze, as though she had actually become shy. Mut. Shy. Did those two words even belong together? All he ever remembered of her was loud and obnoxious. But she was agreeing, however oddly, and her last sentence was said in such a rush he had trouble catching all of it, save for a couple of words that helped him to understand. "Oh." His eyes widened slightly. "Vell, I have never been on date before, either. You vill be first. Is that making it not so bad?" His brow was furrowing up in concern, but more for himself then for the ghoul.

"It's rude to be a jerk about it!" She announced right back, not willing to admit defeat to Matty. If this had been Hel, she would have already run away with her metaphorical tail between her legs. "It's a deal, Grumpy-fangs." If he could continue to call her pest, she could call him grumpy-fangs. Maybe Grump for short.
Helmut tilted her head as she digested this new information; he hadn't been on a date either? She'd be his first, just like he was hers? Hm. "Yeah! That's good, I think?" She didn't have to feel so awkward about it any more, because he probably knew as much about it as she did. Besides, it wasn't like they were going out, right? As far as she understood there was an important distinction between one date and consistent dates.
"So...next student council thing, then? But wouldn't the next thing be---Scarentines?" She whispered out in hushed tones, as if it were a trigger word. Hel had been pretty clear on what the standard Student Council Parties were, and from where they were now to the next constant one was...well, nothing. According to Hel. The more she thought about it, the more she started to whine. "What if it is Scarenti---" She paused then to stare down at her mittens, realizing something important. Her fingers were numb, and the sensation was spreading fast the quicker she realized what was going on.
"--I'm cold." Helmut informed him as if he knew what to do about it, but her instincts were already kicking in and she was moving towards the nearest source of heat to cling to: Matty.
