Shukura watched the presentation with bright eyes, and when something small rested in her paws, she peered down at it. Her eyes widened in surprise at what rested there and her ears stood straight up, her tail falling still. There was a stone, about the size of her blue bead, but colorful and pale all at the same time, much like Mlinzi himself, and two of her children. She turned it over to find it the same on the other side, and when she tilted it colors would vanish and new ones appear. "This...this is beautiful," she said very quietly, extending one careful claw to push it around her paw pad. "I..." She had to swallow to collect herself. She'd never been given a gift like this before, and certainly none so rare. She'd never seen a stone like this. Looking back up, she nodded firmly. "I certainly shall wear this," she said quietly. "And...and when the time allows, I will return to visit him. I do miss him," she added as she lowered herself to rest one paw on the ground, the other still holding the opal. "Can you tell him that I'm much...much more confident in myself now?" she asked with a tiny smile. "And that I thank him profusely for that, every day."

Mezlijin watched with pride as she flipped the gem back and forth between her paw. He knew how much had gone into them, he'd done some of the work himself! Going out and actually finding a procurer, and a crafter? HIS JOBS! Escorting them around the pride to find the gems? HIS JOB! Oh yeah, those lions had been a handful, but it was all worth it to see the look on her face right now, he was absolutely elated right. "He will be overjoyed to hear how much you love it, and even more so to know you will wear it. He knows your pride's traditions means a lot to you, and so he planned his gift around that."He paused to listen to her requests and offered a soft smile, as he watched her try to collect herself. The gift had obviously struck a chord with her. "I will tell him that for you Shukura, and he will thank you for telling him that. So please allow me to thank him for you." He reached over slowly and took her paw in his hand, gently laying a small kiss upon it. It meant nothing for him to do it, but he knew the sentiment would mean a lot for the two of them. "Is there anything else you would like me to relay to him? My ears are open to all you have to offer them!"

"Thank you," she said with a tiny smile as Mezlijin promised to relay her message for him. She only wished there was something she could give Mlinzi in return...perhaps one day she'd go back with their children to introduce them but...not now. They were still learning the ways of their pride, after all, and that was more important for the time being. The kiss to her paw made her blush, and she glanced away in embarrassment even though she was smiling. "And thank you again. I'd ask you to return the favor but...I wouldn't want to make things awkward," she said with a light laugh, envisioning the leopon kissing Mlinzi's paw. Shaking her head, she held the little opal in her paw as she thought. She couldn't tell him about the cubs. She felt that that would be too cruel, to know he had children he might not ever meet. "Just that I think of him every day and he is a dear, dear friend, even though our time together was so short, and that I wish him all the best."

"You are most welcome, my new friend! This is the type of stuff I live for, fret not your messages will arrive at their destination safely!" He winked at her happily, and stood on his feet once more, casually dusting off the sand from his fur. "In that case, I will happily relay that message. It was a pleasure meeting you Shukura, I hate to leave you so suddenly, but it seems i'm farther from home that I first expected. I should head back before it gets much later. Thank you for being such a kind friend to my mentor, and to myself. I hope we have the chance to meet again someday." Once more he dipped his head to her, before slowly turning his back to her and heading back the way he'd came. Hoping the sand hadn't fully covered his tracks, so he'd have any easier time heading back.

Shukura bobbed her head in farewell, smiling slightly as she watched him go. She glanced back down at the little opal in her paw and, with the smile still on her face, stood to walk back to her pride. When she got there she'd have to figure out a way to get the opal to hang from the necklace already. Perhaps she could get some assistance from a few lions that were more crafty than she.
