Hara made a sort of amusing squeak noise as her feet left the ground in the sweep, demonstrating in the process the same wild flailing that made her a difficult throwing partner in class as she grabbed for... well... pretty much anything that might keep her from falling on her butt rather than trying to work with the fall. She'd be humiliated by her continued failure with taking a fall correctly late, but right now she was mostly an embarrassment of long fingered grabby hands and wide, dark, surprised eyes. Athene wasn't the only one with some definite points that needed work.

Athene tried his best to dodge out of the way of Hara's flailing hands as the blue-haired page went tumbling - not wanting to take a tumble himself. He had had to get close to in order to trip her which meant that if she was able to latch onto him, him taking a tumble himself was certainly a possibility and worse there was also the very real possibility that if he went tumbling in such close quarters that he could end up being sent tumbling onto Hara - which could be potentially painful and certainly embarrassing. Athene thought that he had made it free and clear, but had forgotten momentarily about the long trailing end of his sash, said long trailing end of his sash wisping past dangerously close to Hara's hand as she tumbled.

Blame the universe's sense of humor, blame the design of uniforms... blame just about anything or all of it because the sash is exactly where one of her grabbing hands went. Perhaps for a moment it was even enough to keep her off the ground, at least before, say, gravity, and counterbalancing and such things took effect to, likely, drag them both down, or at least Holi, who wasn't able to maintain the grip and angle for long before she landed on her rear on the ground.

Mayhaps if he’d been a little faster then he’d have managed to make it and mayhaps if he’d thought to wind the sash around his waist before the spar started then the opening would never have arisen. Either way however was the domain of hindsight as Hara’s hand snagged and then latched onto the long end of his sash, his speed at trying to get out of range the finishing touch to help yank Athene off his feet. Worse the sash kind of acted like a tether, which meant that he wasn’t able to break his fall the way that he normally would and Athene found himself yelping as his bum was introduced to the ground, hard.

"I'm sorry!!" Hara blurted, apologetically as they both hit the ground. "I'm so sorry!" Well, the sparring was definitely highlighting her weak points, even the embarrassing ones. "I haven't gotten the hang of that still! I'm so so so sorry!! Do you want to stop? We can stop!" litian Stupidly short tag....sorry

"It's okay" Athene said, after a few moments. "And it was a pretty good move on your part" whether it had been intentional or not. His voice turned rueful "And I'm not normally that bad with falls" even though fighting wasn't something he was great at, being able to fall properly generally tended to be one of his strengths. He pulled himself up, not particularly liking to be off his feet for too long, before offering Hara a hand as he continued "I'm okay to carry on if you want to, but I'm also equally fine to stop and tell you about what my senshi magic does." He left it up to Hara to pick which she'd prefer.

"I'm not sure "wild uncontrolled octopus grabbing" is a legitimate Akido move." Hara joked, red with embarrassment as she dusted off. "Please, I'd love to hear how your magic works though." Octopus style... the inferior cousin to styles like Mantis and Crane.... which.... weren't even related to Akido. BRILLIANT. Good god, could she sound any more ridiculous? She wasn't really sure she could.

"It probably isn't" Athene agreed. "But if a fight breaks out and if it works for you and can help you out then I'd still say go for it." Despite the slight amusement in his voice, he was serious knowing that being a senshi or a knight meant that at some point it was likely that you'd find yourself in some sort of fight - even if fighting wasn't something you were personally inclined towards and sometimes especially if you weren't inclined towards fighting. Athene had learnt that the hard way and it wasn't a lesson that he'd wish on anyone else. He nodded at Hara's request to hear about how his senshi magic worked, but waited for her to make herself comfortable before continuing "My magic's the supportive type, although at a pinch I guess I can also use my basic level and super level magic defensively too. My basic level and super level magic can trap things in a barrier of beads - at least when it works it can. Back when we helped Princess Iris with her shade that was the magic that I used on that thing. It just traps things in the beads though, it doesn't stop them from moving around in the beads or using magic." He sighed slightly before admitting "And my magic sometimes seems to have a mind of its own and can be kind of unpredictable." his quiet voice turned rueful as he continued "I've only used my eternal magic once but it forms a shield of beads around people that seems to protect against magic - when I used it, it looked like it protected two mayhaps three people from a nega-eternal senshi's magic but it was much more tiring to use than my basic or super level magic."

"I'm not sure I can call it 'working for me' unless I'm doing it on purpose, but I guess we can pretend that it's the fight equivalent of button smashing at the arcade." She sighed with embarrassment. "At least I'm not the only unpredictable one I guess? We can be button mashers together, huh?"

"I hadn't really thought about it that way" Athene admitted, the rueful note still present in his quiet voice as he spoke. "But that's a pretty good way of putting it." He smiled slightly "It's been kind of fun though" even despite the embarrassing factor of being yanked of his own feet by his own sash. "I wouldn't mind doing something like this again some time" and by again he meant practice sparring when powered. "That is if you want to." He thought it over before adding "Although mayhaps without the downfall by sash part." Ryuthulhu want to wrap this in our next posts?

"I had fun too, even if I'm still kind of... um... embarrassed. It's nice to train with you, I really do appreciate it. Mayyybe next time we can try it in civ mode? I bet we can get some time after hours in the dojo. Might not be a bad way to do a little training. In the mean time maybe I can offer you a slice of pie at this diner near my place? They make pretty good fries too."

Athene nodded "civ mode works for me" he agreed knowing that there was unlikely to be any issues with them taking some time out to do some extra sparring practice as long as they tidied up behind themselves. "It also comes with the benefit of practice mats." That and it would have the benefit of negating any more sash-related downfalls - although he guessed that next time he sparred powered that it would teach him to remember to wind the long end of the sash, that whatever had seen fit to come up with his outfit had deemed necessary, around his waist a few more turns. At Hara's offer of some pie and fries, Athene thought it over for a moment before deciding that although it was late, it wasn't so late that he had to hurry straight home and suddenly realising with a bit of start that actually yes he was hungry. "I'd like that" he agreed quietly with a slight smile and wondered if the place Hara had in mind would do dessert pie as well as savoury pie.
