Protecting the ones you love is the most important thing in life, that's what Blake's parents always taught him. His parents Melisa and Jonh Costerdane both were magical. They were paid by clients to protect sacred shrines, artifacts (while being transferred from place to place) and to do other stuff. They were paid well and made a very powerful team. Blake loved them a lot and wanted to be just like them when he was older. He was taught the theory basics by his dad and taught to read, write and other normal stuff by his mother. However the happiness did not last as they died when he was 13, taken from the boy by disease. Soon after Blake had to look after himself, trying to control his newly awakening powers with no support. It was getting out of hand until one day, he received a letter asking him to attend the Academy of Merlin. He gratefully accepted the offer and is now set to start as a first year.

Ella lived a normal life in a small town working alongside her mother in a flower shop. Her life was quiet and pleasant, though she never met her father and her mother refused to speak of him. Unbeknownst to Ella, she was a magick and when she came of age, she received the letter to the academy.
Confused, she brought it to the attention to her mother, and with a gasp, Ella's mother told her the truth of having been born a half elf, the elven gene from her father whom had left them before she was born. With her mother's blessing, Ella set out, albeit anxiously, to a new mystifying life.

Ari is around 4'6 or so, and she seems to have a bit of flab on her body. Her arms and thighs generally look soft, but Ari actually works out quite a bit and when she flexes has rather impressive biceps/ leg muscles. While she can pack a mean punch or kick hard, for the most part she looks like a soft and cute girl.

She's a rather eccentric characer over all, and while there are a lot of ridiculous rumors about her there doesn't actually seem to be any solid info on her background. Maybe that's for the better, though.

Charlotte grew up in the mundane world. As much as her parents would have loved to raise her in a community of magicks, such places were just so few and far between and none were close enough to their current location to justify moving all of their things. As such, Charlotte grew up wrapped in the mundane world. She had mundane friends, went to a mundane school when she was younger and just grew loving the mundane world. Magic was just a thing her parents did, and she believed that she didn't have to deal with it ever. Then the letter arrived when she was 15. Her parents forced her to go, in spite of her attachment to her mundane friends and mundane community.
It's Charlotte's fourth year now and her feelings on the subject of being magical haven't changed too much, but at least she's made some friends at the Academy which makes the whole situation a little more bearable.

With a Korean mother and a father from Taiwan, Ju Rin spent most of her childhood in her father's home town before they moved to Korea. They lived in a house near a more magik-inclined city, during her teenage years, Ju Rin's energetic and curious personality caused her to explore the city's nightlife, becoming enveloped in it's neon lights and loud style. (Much to the concern of her doting parents). Thankfully, she knew her limits and avoiding dabbling in the wrong sorts of activities, knowing how to throw a punch here or there in case things got a little too antsy. She attended a magik school there but transferred to Merlin on her parents' request to study in a more "calm and mild" environment in hope it would rub off on her.

Born to a dwarven woman prostitute. Of course, living under this style of business, she met many different kinds of suitors. Kili was second born; originally, she was to be a twin, but complications made to see this not occur.
Living day to day was rough, and people turned their heads away from Kili, her older sister Mornia, and their mother. Despite the hardship, their mother did everything she could to support her two daughters. Upon age, Kili quickly discovered that blacksmithing would never be her forte unlike her perfect sister. It wasn't until a year later when the fated later fell into her hands however. Highly curious(and extremely happy her sister never received one), she sought out their mother on instinct. But, she had little information. Knowing only that the academy was for the magik folk. Aware that she would be unable to stop her youngest's constant curiosity, her mother bestowed Kili her blessings. Within a week, Kili said her goodbyes to her family and left for Merilin Academy.

Pure elven parents led Aurinia to believe her blood was superior to humans' and half-blood's, although she quite likes and respects dwarves. Father disappeared when she was young, so she has little to no faith in men.
Aurinia is very interested and rather gifted in the area of herbal magic, having been taught a great deal about different plants and their properties. She began to learn the art of natural magic, and how to communicate with animals to the point of being able to tame them almost instantly at a very young age, and so she has become quite skilled at these.
The latter of these skills allowed Aurinia to form an incredibly strong connection with an eagle owl which, when they first met, was merely a fledgling. They have stayed together ever since, and are highly loyal to one another.
However, to her mother, learning Elven ways was not enough for her daughter, and so when Aurinia was accepted to the Academy of Merlin, her mother felt it would be in her daughter's best interest to attend. She is not pleased with this decision but chose to respect her mother and attend; however, she will do everything in her power to prove that she is a wild elf at heart.

Scarlett was born into a high-class family in Toronto. She attended expensive private schools, keeping to herself in the corners of the classroom simply because the rest of the class was too noisy. Scarlett drew the world around her frequently, and before long she had filled out several sketchbooks at home. Her parents, taking note of their daughter’s talent, bought Scarlett an easel, several canvases, and a bunch of art supplies.
After her dad died in a horrific car crash, Scarlett became more quiet and introverted than ever, locking herself in her room for hours at a time and painting out her stress and grief. One day, while she was drawing a mouse, the mouse peeled off the paper and scurried around. Hardly a week later, a letter from the local magic academy arrived. After a long discussion with her mother, Scarlett agreed to go. Due to her mother’s increasing unavailability at home as she worked two jobs to keep the apartment, however, Scarlett was eventually given no choice but to attend Merlin, and she did the paperwork to transfer in during the second semester herself.

Pele's most noticable features are the scars that go across her nose and the one that goes across her eye. She's short and fairly stocky with wide shoulders and a small waist. (inverted triangle shape.) Facial wise she has a wide, flat nose and monolid eyes. Pele's lips are also a little big and a dark red-ish shade. Her skin is dark brown, but it has an odd red tint to it in places. Generally Pele is impressively muscular all around, and she has visible (and bushy) arm hair/leg hair. She also has the curly beginnings of a beard on her chin.

Pele was born into the dwarven community that lived in Kilauea, fairly accustomed to humans due to the small nature of the islands and the fact that the dwarves and humans shared similar deities/religious beliefs. As it is the dwarven community changed with the human and Pele was born into a fairly culturally diffused society.
She grew up in a warm community and was sent off to Merlin with full support from her parents, fully intending to become a scientist once it became an option for her. An intelligent girl in her own right, Pele decided to stay home for first semester due to personal reasons but has come back for second semester. While Pele is just as bright and curious as she was before, somehow she seems a little more careful to keep distance with others.

Yani was born and raised in a small human town with her elven father and human mother. Both of her parents had attended The Academy of Merlin when they were younger, but after graduating the academy they both settled down into a Mundane human's lifestyle to look after Yani's human grandparents. Because of this, Yani was raised as a Mundane in their town.
At a young age, Yani drew an assortment of animals as well as people in their town and with commitment to her art she was able to develop a small amount of talent over time. She also ventured often with her father to his hometown and sat in the grass drawing the creatures there when he was called upon to help with scientific breakthroughs and trials (the only reason that his hometown allows him and his daughter back there is because of the work he helps them achieve). It was on one of these trips that one of the elders noticed that she was able to have a deer stay still in a clearing while she drew it and recommended that Yani's father enroll her to the academy, the elder didn't however mention their hopes that Yani would find an elven male to thin out the human genes in her now-tainted line in hopes of someday bringing more elves back into their thinning village.

Icarus is just the slightest bit chubby, with a slightly toned body. His hair is a pastel pink and he has three piercings on either side of his ear -- two on the helix and one on the lobe. He would look like your average troublemaker if it wasn't for the ridiculous shade of pink that his hair is. Despite it's color his hair is soft and styled neatly without a part out of place. His arms are toned and Icarus is a little bit over average height. His face is surprisingly good looking and he has a healthy tan.

While Icarus lived primarily in the NYC with his (adoptive) literary obsessed mother, he often visited the farm his grandparents owned whenever he got the chance. He spent the time there working and found solace in the animals there.
At age 8, he displayed magical tendencies. His mother threw him into a boarding school not too far off from the main city without question. However, certain things made Icarus ask request to be transferred to Merlin. His mother agreed to send her kid away overseas on the terms that he earned all the money he needed himself. With all of his money earned, he's finally transferring in during second semester.

His most unusual feature, however, is his eyes, a dark red color that's atypical among both humans and elves.

Growing up in the poorer half of Boston was no easy task. Ian never knew his father, an elf that ran away as soon as he found his wife was pregnant, and his mother took him into the workshop so often he saw it as a second home. Ian learned how to use most of the tools of the trade before he was nine and was helping his mother fix old car engines by ten. During work hours, Ian's mother would idly teach him magic spells that were handy in the shop, such as Levitate, Shrink, Grow, etc. She refused to teach Ian elementalism, worried that he'd hurt himself, but he eventually taught himself the element of fire anyway.
Through sheer luck, Ian won a contest in a magazine when he was eleven and received a sleek laptop with programming software preinstalled. After hearing his mother complain how an extra hand or two would be nice around the shop, he began working on a side project in his spare time while joining his school's robotics team, putting his knowledge of mechanics to good use. His tools for the robot moved the team from regionals, to state, to the national championships. While the district celebrated, Ian returned to his mother's worksop and continued work on his side project.
Three years, twelve trophies and a lot of sweat later, Ian's side project was complete: a robot capable of channeling magic via radio waves that he named Socket. He presented Socket to his mother, who was sincerely shocked that Ian came up with such a sophisticated piece of technology. It was around this time that Ian's Merlin letter arrived, offering a full scholarship in return for the blueprints to Socket on behalf of the Council. Ian initially refused, but eventually agreed for personal reasons, provided he could have another year in his mother's shop to perfect the mechanical design. It took an entire semester to get his affairs in order afterwards, but Ian is finally arriving at Merlin in time for the second semester to begin.

Gilrin comes from a noble family. A once proud family of noble elves ect. ect. Long story short, her official title of 'Lady' has less weight than it would have before the magick council started co-ruling the kingdom alongside the royal family. Instead of her family owning and ruling land, they more or less protect the cultural history of the upper-class, a fact that Gilrin couldn't care less about.

Casimir hails from a half Lithuanian, half Chinese heritage, they spend their childhood growing up in China in a village near a lake with their parents and had an average childhood. When the first signs of Casimir's genderfluidity started to show, their parents were initially skeptical but slowly accepted, giving Casimir the clothes and things they desired. Casimir had also been born with a defect that caused them to slowly go blind in the left eye until by 10 they completely loss vision, Casimir's parents were devastated but they decided to get themself a fake eye instead as a sort of reassurement that they were still fine and happy. Casimir was inspired by a story they'd heard of a legendary pirate who sailed the ocean who also had a fake gemstone eye. four years later Casimir was sent off to the Academy.
