"Makes sense? I think I may have said a bit much for that to automatically click in my head what you were speaking of, but no worries, none at all. If it makes sense to you, then that's what matters." How entertaining this was, having a fresh start, and allowing himself to act naturally for what seemed like the first time in forever! And with such a kind man as his once-teacher.. If there was anything Nischal could say, he was in bliss, even if the cold air nipped uncomfortably at his cheeks.
For the rest of their walk, he remained silent, and slightly behind Arian, his eyes on his back for the most part, yet darting away every now and then to take in this new part of town he was in. He would have to remember how to get back to the ice rink from here.. And then back to the bus stop from there.. But he couldn't just pull out his phone and call his driver out like he had once done before. This was his life now.. Busses and cabs until he was productive enough to actually get a license or a car.
The shop smelled delicious, even before then entered inside of it, and the scents and warmth within reminded him immediately of their first meeting with one another, and he could not help but smile a wee bit sadly at the woman behind the counter. As brilliant and wonderful as his life seemed to be right now, there was the twinge of regret he found himself feeling for all the opportunities he had left behind. It lasted but a moment before he turned to Arian, pointing at the menu near the counter. The entire place seemed to be decked out for the holidays, and Nischal could not say he was disappointed in it at all! It was just like a little home in the small shop!
"What would you recommend? Would you care to sit down and chat as we enjoy our little snacks? I mean, it would be a bit of a shame to just grab and go, not when it's so cozy and Christmas-y here."
litian It's fine fine fine fine~ When you get back online and I'm online, remind me that I had an idea!

The slight smile was still on Arian's face as he turned to look at Nischal at the other's question, although he didn't bother to look at the menu, pretty much knowing it off by heart. It wasn't difficult - The Dough Knot's menu wasn't a particularly long menu, but what things the bakery offered they did well, with the baked goods baked fresh throughout the day by Mrs Brodbeck, the owner and it tended to be pretty popular as the prices were good too - especially for college students on a budget. "Well for sweets there's a choice of either pretzels, cinnamon buns or mini iced doughnuts and they're all really good" he indicated said doughnuts in the little paper cups that they came in. "But I'm going to go for a cinnamon pretzel myself and a caramel latte." He nodded at Nischal's suggestion that they sit and have their snacks in, "I was just about to suggest that actually" he admitted as he looked towards where the four little tables and the mixture of benches and stools that made up the seating was. "Since it's actually free for once," turning back to look at Nischal again as he asked "What would you like to go for?"

"It smells amazing in here, that's probably why it's so busy most of the time, huh? But I bet with the holiday's coming up soon, everyone's kinda making their way back home, huh?" His eyes scoured the menu a bit longer, before settling on something that seemed to fit his tastes.
"I think I'll have a.. White Chocolate Peppermint cappuccino, with a.. Uh.. two of the mini french crullers with peppermint frosting.. Yeah, that sounds good." After paying for his half, of the snack, he took the two coffees over to one of the tables, settling down cozily in his coat next to the window. It seemed like it had begun to snow again; fluffy little snowflake bundles causally began to float down from the sky. The boy didn't realize just how cold he had been before, and he pulled his coat closer around him, giving Arian another bit of a smile.
"So.. We have introduced ourselves, yes? So now here's the big question.. What were we thinking when we thought it was a brilliant idea to go ice skating?"

Nischal had already taken the drinks over, so after paying his half Arian had picked up the his pretzel and Nischal's doughnuts and walked over to the table that the other had picked. "The doughnuts actually come in a cup of five" he said as he set a small plate with the cup of cheerfully iced doughnuts in front of Nischal and then set his own plate down before slipping onto the bench on the other side, cheeks reddening slightly as he ended up accidentally tapping Nischal's legs having remembered, a little too late how cosy the seating was here. With a quiet sorry to the other, he reached for his coffee, hoping that the other hadn't minded as he absently used the long teaspoon that came with the tall mug to scoop out and then eat some of the caramel drizzled cream before smiling slightly at Nischal's question "Well at least you can skate" he pointed out quietly, his quiet voice slightly rueful as he admitted. "I'm not sure that I really have an excuse." After all his 'efforts' on the ice hadn't particularly resembled skating - well okay - they hadn't even been remotely like skating.

"Oh, sweet then! I might have a few left over then for my way home." As much as Nischal loved sweets, he couldn't really justify eating them all in one sitting, especially as susceptible he was at crashing. Then again, there was nothing wrong with sharing too!
"I'll trade you a piece of your pretzel for one of my doughnuts then. " The little tapping against his knees didn't really bother Nischal too much, though his eyes cast down shyly, as if trying to see their legs brushing against one another. His mind flashed back to some of the awkward fanfiction he had once read, of how two strangers meet up in an odd situation, and his cheeks flared up for the first time during their meeting, laughing nervously and pushing his glasses up the edge of his nose.
"It's fine, it's a little cramped in here, but it's just fine! More warmth, right? Luckily we're both kinda short, so it's probably more roomy than if we were to be like, say.. Six feet tall." And now everything the boy did, every movement was being studied, trying to find out what he could recognize as familiar. But for now, everything seemed new, more casual, more friendly. It wasn't teacher and student this time, but merely friends.
"I took a class a while back, just because I thought it was a good idea. And the thoughts of dancing on ice, figureskating, it's so fascinating to me. I love to dance, not entirely formally, but just dancing in general, and ice-waltzing.. Or something just as graceful seems absolutely stunning to me." The wider-than-tall mug of his own was brought up to his lips, sipping it with a grin and being set down, licking the foam off of his upper lip.
"For the sake of a deal, maybe? Besides being terrible at ice skating, what else do you like to do? Ooh, and what do you do as your.. Hrm.. Main time activity? Like School or Work?"

"Sure" Arian agreed at Nischal's offer, tearing off a bit of pretzel for himself before turning the plate so that the untouched end face Nischal and pushing the plate closer to the other boy. Cinnamon and sugar from the pretzel coated his fingers, the pretzel still slightly warm as he picked it up and took a bite out of it, enjoying the taste of the cinnamon and sugar coated sweet bread. Although he had tried all the sweet treats that Mrs Brodbeck had on her menu and they were, as he'd told Nischal all very good, more often than not when Arian came here he tended to go for the cinnamon pretzel - the pretzels here - for all that they weren't cupcakes were definitely one of his faves. He'd started slowly stirring the rest of the whipped cream and caramel into the coffee, slowly so as to prevent the cream from slopping over the sides of the cup when Nischal asked him about main time activities. "Well I used to go to Meadowview" he said, slowly relaxing as it looked like Nischal wasn't going to be upset over the fact that he hadn't really thought over the fact that the seating arrangements, when available at all, were pretty cramped. "But I'm in my first year at DCU now and I like to craft jewellery" there was a trace of rueful amusement in his voice as he added "Which is probably just as well since it links into what I study." Well there was the fact that he also crafted for the Etsy shop that he technically shared with his cousin, although his cousin was the one who handled all the financial stuff. "I run sometimes too" not as much as he used to, no longer having the time that he used to. He took a couple of sips of his coffee and ate some of his pretzel before adding "How about you?"

As soon as it was offered, Nischal ripped his own piece off, popping it into his mouth with a grin. Cinnamon always was one of his favorite seasonings. He'd have to add this place to his list of new favorite places; everything so far was absolutely divine!
"Oh, so you're a University student. Awesome! I'm a Junior in High School, supposedly, but I'll see where I'll need to catch up when I start school in the spring semester. I came here at a weird time, so.. I'm pretty much behind. But I'm not too worried, and I've been studying the entire time I've been out of school, so I won't be going in completely blind. Jewelry sounds really cool.. Something creative that can be given to others, It sounds pretty sweet if you ask me." He took another sip of his coffee, talking too much in such a small amount of time left him a bit parched.
"I think I mentioned dancing, but I also really enjoy terrible movies, you know, those B-rated ones? And I used to do some martial arts, but since I left home, I haven't had time to practice or find a new school. In fact, this outing is the first one I've had since I've arrived in the city. First casual one, atleast. I might need to find a tutor or something, just incase there's some thing I can't quite catch up on. Oh, but my favorite thing to do is listen to stories.. You know, those casual ones.. I am in utter bliss just going into a diner and listening, hearing the world around me, stories being made, stories being told. Not that I talk too much about it with other people. I do a bit of my own writing too. Nothing worth reading, though.."

"Having to play catch up for classes isn't a great deal of fun" Arian said, his voice sympathetic. It was something that he'd had to do himself when he'd first come here - in fact that was how he'd ended up spending most of his first summer in Destiny City. "But I know some people over at the university do tutoring if you're looking for a tutor." He'd never done any kind of tutoring himself, unless you counted the time that he'd shown a teen called Isha the rudiments of jewellery crafting but that had been a one time thing and he hadn't seen the younger teen again apart from a chance meeting at a Halloween Party thing that they had both ended up attending. He ate some more of his pretzel as Nischal had talked about his hobbies, "I've never thought about stories that way" he admitted. "My access to stories tends to come in the form of reading about them in books." Arian loved libraries and tended to hang around the main Destiny City one a lot. At the other boy's comment about his writing he added "You might be surprised if you let someone read your work - what you might think of as not worth reading is something they really like."

"I'm not too worried about it, after all, since I'm alone, I don't have many distractions." His voice almost sounded sad for that brief moment he mentioned being alone. True, he did not mind it, as he was trying to rebuild his life, and he KNEW he wasn't truly alone, but there were not friends to go and visit or distract him. Good for school, yes, but not so much for his mental state.
"There's just something soothing about hearing it come from another. So much more passion and eagerness to get a story out. Maybe one day we can get together again, and then exchange stories, then you can see what I mean." That's right, time to establish a potential get-together. Not that it was if he was plotting anything nefarious, no! Arian was just one of those guys.. One of those people he just wished to see again. There really wasn't any way he wanted to have this just a single meeting. It had to be more than just a chance, right?
His drink drained, and his doughnuts dwindling, he wondered just how long that Arian wished to stay with him. If he were the one to suggest things, he wouldn't want to see him leave at all, not as nice and pleasant this encounter had been thus far.

Arian nodded, "My Nain used to tell me stories" he said quietly. "She was really good at it." He'd loved listening to Nain telling him stories, had always been happy to sit curled up next to her on that saggy old sofa of hers as she told him about tales of old magic and stories about the beads that she used to string into necklaces. His voice turned rueful "I'm not sure that I have any stories of my own that would be considered interesting though" he admitted as he drank some more of his drink, it was only a third full, Arian having slowly drank it as they spoke, although the pretzel was pretty much all gone. "At least I don't really know any stories that's not out of a book." And he was kind of assuming from Nischal's words that the other was referring to the spoken sort of storytelling rather than simply reading aloud. Although Arian knew that he was going to make a move at some point, he wasn't in any real hurry to. It had been pretty cold out and he didn't have anywhere that he particularly had to hurry to, besides he was kind of enjoying chatting to Nischal - the other made for pretty pleasant company for all that this was probably just a one time thing and he was kind of sweet too - in a kind of enthusiastic way.

Nain..? Maybe he meant nanny? Grandma? Though he supposed it didn't really matter too much, since he could tell that it was someone that the other had really loved, and it sounded like she was gone now.. Nischal was not deaf to the rueful sound that came from Arian, and he found himself frowning a little bit. It took but a moment for his expression to ease back into a little shy smile as a single finger came out to drag around the edges of the empty mug he had before him.
"The more I listen to you speak.. The more I wish to hear your voice in a more excited manner. Maybe we can exchange numbers or something, find something we can do together that will result in more laughter and memories, and maybe even make stories together that we can tell to others. Do you think we could do that? Could I.. Um.. May I see you again?" There was no way to say any of what was on his mind without coming off as awkward, but who cares! If it allowed him to see Arian again, then what did it matter? Hopefully he wasn't coming off as strong or anything! If he wanted to refuse, Nischal would take no offense to it whatsoever.

"You want to see me again?" For a moment there was an openly surprised expression on Arian's face as Nischal's words sunk in, for whatever the reason it not having occurred to him that the other might want to make it their chance meet up more than a one time thing. And then it sunk in that he had just pretty much blurted his words out and he felt his cheeks reddened slightly in embarrassment. "I'm sorry" he said quietly, for a moment busying himself with drinking a bit more of what was left of what had once been a hot drink, but by now was more of a lukewarm one. "I didn't mean it that way" he said, his quiet voice sounding slightly awkward at his admission. "It's just that we've just met and I don't think that anyone has ever wanted to strike up a random friendship with me based on one meeting." He drank a bit more of his drink and then as he considered things a bit more before finally nodding "But okay." A rummage of in his bag and managed to come up with a pen but no paper, but it was something rectified easily enough by reaching over to snag one of the unused paper napkin. Carefully jotting down his mobile number on the fragile paper Arian held out the napkin to Nischal "I guess what I'm trying to say badly is that I don't mind trying."

"Really? Then how do they expect to get to know you? Leave it to chance? Sure, chance is a good way for the first meeting, but the rest is up to us, I think. Imagine how many people could be missing a person who could be their bst friend, romantic interest, or even a soul mate just because of a lost opportunity? One meeting is not nearly enough, I'd say. Then again, I'm just a kid, what do I know of fate!" This time the laughter that came from him reached all the way up to his eyes, which shone with a happiness that was becoming a frequent friend of his. How wonderful!
The number was accepted with another warm smile and when he took it, he allowed thir fingers to brush, thinking nothing of it. Instead of simply letting the number sit unused in his pocket, he immediately pulled out his own little cellphone, quickly sending Arian a little text message. Hello, Arian! I'm excited about to meet with you again!
"There we go! now you have my number as well!"

"I guess you're right, although I'm not sure I believe that much in fate myself." Fate to him suggested some weird mysterious power somehow pulling the strings and Arian kind of preferred to think that he was in control of his own life. "Although I can accept chance." He'd been kind of expecting Nischal to jot down his number too, so the buzzing of his mobile had taken him a little by surprise, he'd smiled slightly however as he read the message before copying the number into his contacts and made sure to label the entry 'Nischal Dwivedi' before hitting save. "And I've saved it into my contacts" he said, before adding slightly reluctantly as he spotted the time on the clock by the main counter. "It's later than I thought though, so I guess I should be making a move soon." Although not before he ate the very last piece of his pretzel.

"Awesome! Now you will remember who I am when I call or text. Probably text, since calling on the phone is kinda awkward for me." Nischal turned to follow Arian's gaze at the clock, and quickly began to gather up his things.
"Oh geesh, I didn't realize the time either! The bus will be here any second, and I don't want to miss it! It's a long ride back to my neighborhood, and you know, with things being as dangerous as they are now in this city, I'd like to get home before dark. And with winter dark comes all sorts of early. Geesh, maybe I should invest in trying to get my license, but then how would I even afford a car? It's not like I have anyone to really turn to in this city for such things just yet! No worries, no worries, I'll figure something out eventually, for now, the bus! I must by it's time, not my own!" He was more muttering to himself the last few parts than actually directing them towards his companion. Having gathered all of his trash, tossing it, and placing the leftovers in his side satchel, he stood close to Arian, giving his shoulder a little bit of a pat.
"Do you take the bus? Or are you close by? Maybe we could walk together more, if we are heading in the same direction."
