Rastian nodded, hastening his pace. He had to get back into his body again! There was no time to waste, he could be sucked back at any moment! The game of life is never a fair game, every Healer knows that, even the beginners like him. One false move could alter the fragile course laid out before you, and right now, he had absolutely no room for messing up.

"Come on, come on! How much farther do I have to run?!" He cried, taking a breather. He was starting to feel sick, something he hadn't felt back where the light was. Yes, then that was... That was the end. He didn't want the end, even if he felt like hell on the other side. He raced forward and started to cough. He... Had to... Keep... Going!

"Someone, grab my hand!" He called, thrusting his hand out again. This time, he felt his body move out from under the covers of a bed. He was almost there!

As soon as Yaholo saw Rastian's hand move towards him, his hand went straight for it. He held it firmly and tugged it gently, hoping that just a little jolt would help his friend along. Any movement in response made him feel like he had witnessed a miracle. His friend was coming back!

"Rastian! I've got you!" He replied. "You can do this! It's not your time!"

Rastian's eyes flew open as his hand was pulled and he began to cough. He could see again! No more bright light, no more darkness! He was back in the land of the living! He took a deep breath and let his body relax. Now he could try to process what was going on around him.

Well, Yaholo was giving his hand a death cling, a small shifter girl had his other hand, and an elderly Alkidike was fussing over his wounds. The glasses that had been clanging were vials of healing liquids, the pages being turned were from a Healer's reference book, and the pacing was being done by two men in the corner of the room. One was obviously Yaholo's father, his uncle Cusick, but the other wasn't familiar to him. After a thorough glancing, his eyes fell back upon Yaholo.

"You saved my life..." He said, smiling. "If you hadn't called for me all this time, I wouldn't have had the drive to come back." He paused, squeezing the other's hand. "Thank you, Yaholo. You're an incredible person..."

Yaholo knelt by his friend's side and squeezed his hand right back. Rastian was alright, by a communicating standard, that is. He raised his free hand to push some matted hair out of the Healer's eyes and chuckled at his words. Him? Incredible? No, he was just doing what he felt was right. A friend always helped a friend in need, especially in circumstances like this.

"I'm so glad you're alright, Rastian!" He exclaimed. "Now all we need to do is figure out how to fix whatever is making you sick!"

"I know what's ailing him already, Yaho." The elder Alkidike said, smiling towards them. "It's called Crystal Rot, and it's very deadly to those with open wounds. However, he's managed to keep it contained to his arm, which I have to applaud."

Rastian studied the elder Alkidike as she spoke and nodded to himself. Alright, now he knew what it was called and that it was deadly to a certain group of people. He sighed, gazed towards Yaholo again, and settled back into bed.

"Alright, I'd better rest, then." He said. "I'm obviously not out of the woods yet, am I?"

The elder Alkidike shook her head as she placed the last of her bandages on Rastian's arm.
"No, dear, not at all." She said, poking Yaholo's arm. "Go get me some more bandages from your mother, will you?"

"Yes, Susuya!" Yaholo replied, turning towards the exit of the hut. However, just before he ran off, he paused to smile at Rastian. "You stay put, I know how much you like to run around!"

PFFT! Stay put, yeah, what the hell could he do while he was this sick? He couldn't make it here without help in the first place, what made Yaholo think he would be in such a hurry to race off again? He rolled his eyes as Susuya began to place healing liquid on his skin.

Hm, this was kind of nice. Getting taken care of, instead of having to take care of everything. He'd have to refrain from letting this treatment go to his head, if he even survived, that is.
