"Right now works, if you have time," Owen said, and offered a tentative smile. "As for, um - as for later in the week I'll have to ask my mom first, okay? But if she says it's alright maybe you could come over, or - or I could go to your house? I bet mom would feel better if I'm somewhere with grown-ups..."

He'd like that. The chance to make friends with someone at least close to his own age, who might like some of the same things? It sounded too good to be true!

"All kinds of books. Encyclopedias have lots of neat stuff in them if you get the right ones."

"Space atlas?" Owen echoed, and his eyes lit up at the thought. "Yeah! That sounds really, um.... really cool. I've never seen one of those before." He paused and looked around, head tilting to one side. "You came with your om, right? If we find our moms maybe they could meet and talk about mom things and - and let me come over sometimes?"

"Okay," Owen said, smiling more fully as his hand was caught. "Um - by the way, it's been really nice getting to know you, Miss Bailey!" This was the best day he had experienced in a long, long time. Maybe it meant more would be coming soon?
