I wish people didn't see me as a Monster...

Gale took a drink of his ale and looked over at Xayden, "Well, congratulations, sir." He shook the man's hand. He listened to the hidden path that could get anyone anywhere in the city. Even in the forbidden area. He was shocked by the news. He could either let his family know and make sure that there were guards there, or he could keep his mouth shut and help them. He didn't want to blow his cover or lose his new potential friends. Besides, he wouldn't want the champion dead or Meg to get hurt... wait... did the tiny one say she has killed other Darklings? That was close to impossible to do. It was even difficult for Gale to do! He gave her a shock expression. Note to self, don't ******** around with this one... He heard Xayden ask him and nodded, "Not a problem. Nothing like a little bonus too, right? I'm between the slums and near the Leviaths. There are some abandoned hotels near by, so I take refuge there. It keeps me close to my job. Mobs are always asking for a job to be done. Mainly to strike fear to those who is holding out on money. I've been here a few times before. Not too often though. I'm either out on the job, home from the job, if I'm not here. I've seen some of your fights. You're a great fighter. I'd hate to be one of your opponents." He chuckled a bit taking another drink of his ale. When he heard Kato he looked at her and raised his eyebrow, "I'm not asking you to trust me and I'm sorry for hitting on a pretty face. It's hard to come by a pretty girl with a stunning personality." He took another drink before setting it down, looking at Meg, "Are you okay? You look a little out of it. Long night?" He asked sounding a bit concerned.

Meg listened as the man spoke. A mob assassin? How awesome must that job title be to walk around with!? Intrigued, she paid attention bidding farewell to Kato and agreeing that yes, she wanted the same design. She cleaned up the glasses, and took care of the money, watching Xayden interact with the stranger. She was a bit more focused on waiting to jump in and stop Xay from saying something rude, until her attention was drawn back to Gale. "Huh? Me? Oh...no, work is fine, it's just, I had this good friend, and he was killed by those damn Leviaths almost a year ago. The anniversary date is coming up and it's kinda hard on me. I'll be okay though, I've made it this long, right? Oh, and thanks for the compliments. They are driving Xay here crazy!" She giggled as she nudged the fighters arm and giggled harder at his 'don't encourage the guy' face.

The club was beginning to slowly empty, and since Meg was all caught up, she finished her drink and poured the three of them another round. The cook whined at her and she allowed him to go home early, telling him she was okay with locking up. As they all chatted, she counted the register and got their earnings put in the safe, then counted out her tips and traded the couple hundred smaller bills into two one hundred dollar bills. Folding it away in her wallet, she had covered and factored their drinks in, an shut down the neon lights locking the front door closed.
"Well gentlemen, I have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow so I am going to head home and up to bed. You did very well tonight Xayden, good job. I'll see you tomorrow morning? Goodnight Gale, it was a pleasure meeting you. Maybe you'll have to swing by more often." She smiled at him, and gave a hug to Xayden before escorting them out the back door, then going back into the bar, and headed up the concealed stairway to her little apartment. Little did she know, Xayden bid goodnight to the stranger and made it appear as though he went home in the opposite direction, but really, he decided to track and follow Gale from a distance. Meg slipped into an oversize tee shirt, she crawled into her warm bed, and drifted easily to sleep.

~~~
The following morning, she woke up bright and early, took shower, applied her make up and slipped into her best black denim skinny jeans. She wore her favorite, almost knee high, boots, her purple tank top, trademark belt and leather jacket, and finished off with her several rings she wore on her fingers. She took the time to curl her hair, and she felt like she actually looked good, for the first time in awhile. While she slipped two slices of bread into the toaster, a knock came to her door, and she answered it to find Xayden. Bidding him good morning, she let him in and offered him some toast before they headed out for their morning.
Xayden wasn't sure he liked the man before him. A mob assassin? How lame is that? A murderous b***h boy for the mafia. Xayden played it off politely, and carried on conversation until Meg thanked the guy for his sweet words. He gave Meg his famous "Shut up! I can't even believe you right now!" look, discreetly. There was something weird about this guy, and Xay intended on finding out what it was. When they were led out, he hugged meg and told her to sleep well, and he would be there to get her in the morning. He waved goodnight and shook Gale's hand before departing the opposite direction Gale was going. Tracking, being one of his better jobs, helped with his stealth, and allowed him to follow Gale undetected. He couldn't believe it. The guy lived so close to the Leviaths! Xayden's jaw nearly dropped to the ground when Gale walked passed a horde of Darklings, and they parted for him like the red sea. Unsure what was going on, Xayden wasn't about to find out, not tonight.
Was this guy in some upstanding with Leviaths? Was he their b***h boy? Xayden didn't know but he wasn't going to stick around to find out. He went home and jumped in bed, falling asleep just as quickly as Meg had.
~~~

Xayden woke, showered, shaved, and dressed in a matter of a few minutes. He dressed nicely in a striped button up, and pulled his jacket on over it, popping the collar up to keep him from the wind. He picked up Meg on his motorcycle and headed to the cemetery after getting a bouquet of flowers. They found Cas' headstone fairly quickly and decided, since the wind wasn't too bad now, to have their breakfast here with Cas. They both talked happily to the rock, as if it was Cas sitting right there. It wasn't until they had to leave, Megs tears came to her eyes. She bid him a very sweet farewell, promising to return in a month or so and clean off the stone again as she always did. Xay gave Meg a hug, and they departed shortly after. Xayden had been friends with Cas long before Meg had, and even he himself thought they hit it off well. Xay was a mess when he was killed, and felt that perhaps it had only made his protectiveness to Meg that much stronger.

Having another bouquet ready, he stopped by his little brother's grave site and spoke to his stone for a few moments before placing them there.

Kato retreated back to her small sanctuary. She walked up to the fourth level and had to jump and pull herself up on the fifth level. She walked into the room down the hall to the right and closed the door behind her. Home sweet home... Winter is coming soon... The Russian girl rubbed her face, leaning against the door. She sighed before stripping down to put on a night gown and falling into bed. "Oof... What to scavenge tomorrow..." She rolled on her back, thinking that she needed to go find materials for a belt for Meg... Xayden's tunnel is going to have to wait. She had to finish a dress for someone and start and finish Meg's belt. It was so silent in the apartment. Dead. So much death has been in this room alone. She couldn't imagine the whole city... only because she didn't want to. There wasn't a day that went by that she missed Neil. Kato turned to her side and thought herself to sleep.

~~~~~~~~~~~~☣~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, Kato got up right before dawn. She instantly got dressed in a clinch, gray top, stripped gray short, braided her hair and pulled up her leggins and boots. She grabbed a black bulky belt that had her gadgets and weapons. She pulled on a hat with goggles. Before she left, she grabbed her bag that she emptied of goods and locked the door behind her. She climbed out of the window and onto the roof. The scavenger walked to the edge and stretched her back, arms and legs. Must be limber. The early morning chill filled the air. She was going to have to find something a little warmer, but after running, climbing, flinging yourself from building to building is a good work out. Kato just casually took a step of the roof, falling down two stories before grabbing a pole, flinging herself into an open window to next door. she ran across the room to the other open window and jumped out, grabbing the edge of the other building. Pulling herself up, she saw a little girl, just on the roof, waiting for someone. She looked about tweleve, but Kato knew who she was. She walked across the roof and raised an eyebrow.
"Zofie, what are you doing up here? You know if the Darklings saw you, you're going to be in serious s**t or killed." "I know, I just wanted to see you out. You're coming back right? Can I come with you," She asked curiously. Smiling, Kato rolled her eyes and rubbed the girls head, messing up her short blonde hair. "Not today, Zofie. I have to find things for a belt and finish your mothers dress. I see you're wearing the dress I made you. Fit for a tomboy like you," She walked to the edge with Sofie and knelt down as the sun rose. "Another belt? Don't you have enough? I love the clothes you make! Why can't I come, Kato? I'm twelve now and I need to start helping my mom," She groaned. Granted, Kato has taken the girl on outings but she was going to be going further that Sofie could handle. "I know, but I'm going further than you can handle. It's just a quick trip. I take you next time, promise," Smiling at the twelve year old, she held out her pinky to the girl and she wrapped her pinky around Katos. "Now, be good and wait for me with your mother. No tricks to any of the neighborhood boys." "No promises, Kato!" She ran to the other side of the roof and slid down to the ground, going back home. After Neil died, Kato found someone close to a friend. When Neil died and spring came, Sofie found Kato in the streets, passed out drunk, doing the scorpion. The girl took in Kato and her mom helped her back to her feet. After the highs and lows, Kato came attached to Sofie.
Kato never mentioned her since she didn't want Sofie to become a target, but people knew that she payed attention to the little girl. The white haired girl sighed and sprinted to the next building, hiding from Darklings, being quiet and moving close to the buildings near the zoo. She looked in peoples dressers and closets for a study belt, or at least some leather... Finding some leather and belts, She raided some jewelry boxes, and a seamstress store for cloth and accessories she could use. The sun was up and she looked at the time, ten am. Time to head back. She took a step on a wood floor plank and fell through without a warning. She fell onto a mutants carcass, bones cut up her arms and sides.
"What the hell!?" She jumped up and rubbed her arms, rubbing the small cuts on her body. Just small bits of blood, nothing gushing out. She looked at the skeleton remains, noticing it was humanoid but had deer antlers coming out of the skull. Great, she was in mutant territory... Hopefully that carcass didn't have any weird DNA or radiation... Kato jumped up and pulled herself up from where she fell from. She lightly walked out the window she came from and climbed out.
Kato managed to get herself home safely... well, without any more accidents... She plopped the bag down on her bed as she grabbed her sowing materials. She made up Meg's belt; not only was it nice and sturdy, but it had holsters for weapons, pouches and a good size bottle of beer. She finished Sofie's mothers dress. She folded it up neatly and put it in her bag with Meg's belts. She sighed and got up, grabbing the bag, putting it on her back. She walked out and headed to Sofie's house. She was greeted by the little girls mother and she gave the woman her dress. She sat at the kitchen table, waiting for Lidia to come back with her dress on. "Well, how does it look," She asked. Kato smiled and raised her cup of water,
"Beautiful, Lidia! Hey, where's pip squeak? I thought I'd spend the day with her so she can stay out of trouble." Lidia sat down and crossed her legs. "She wasn't with you? She must be out with the other kids then. She should be home soon. That girl hasn't eaten breakfast yet," She shrugged. "What happened to you? You're all cut up..." Kato looked at the scratched on her arm and shrugged, "Noting. Just had a small accident in the zoo district. Mutants now live there though." "Oh, be careful, okay? You don't want to end up like them. Mad, look disgusting and killing everyone," She frowned. Kato smiled and pointed at her, "I'd still be better looking and nicer than the Leviaths, though." They laughed a bit before someone busted in yelling, "Lidia! The Darklings have Sofie!" "What!?" She rose about to go outside. Kato stopped her and told her to wait. She walked outside quickly, her heart racing... Not another one... She walked in the middle of the cracked street and pulled out her gun, "Let her go, you piece of s**t! She has done nothing wrong." "Oh look, Queen of the Slums. You have no business here, Kato. And for your information, she was out scavenging. You know the rules about scavenging," He chuckled, holding onto the girls hair. "Please let me go. Kato, please don't let them hurt me. I was only trying to find food. To help mom," She pleaded. "Hush, Zofie... You'll be okay. Darkling, you let her go, now. Whatever charges you put on this girl, you put on me. I offer myself," She held out her arms. The man lets the girl go. As Sofie ran to Kato, right before she reached Kato, she was shot right on the back. Kato's heart stopped as the little girl fell down, dead. "No, Zofie... No..." "I changed my mind... You would be too boring," He chuckled. Kato raised her gun and walked towards him, "You're Vucked!!" She screamed and started shooting at the Darkling. She threw a small smoke ball at him and started running. She ran around him and jumped on his back, holding a piano string. She wrapped her legs around him as she had the string wrapped around her hands. She pulled the string against his neck as he stumbled around. He slammed his back against the concrete wall, trying to smash her off. He choked as his neck was getting cut and he finally slammed her off. The girl fell off and hit the ground. She legged swept the man to the ground and she jumped back on him. Kato screamed and cried as she punched the Darklings face in under his mask. She had beaten his mask in against his face to where the metal had pierced into his bone, killing him. But when that she kept beating until someone pulled her off. She thrashed about in his arms, swinging her fists around. "Get the vuck off of me! I'm not done with him yet! I'll kill him dead! Dead, dead! He killed innocent girl! He killed Zofie!!!" She screamed. Two more people restrained the little tough Russian till she wore herself out. She walked over to Sofie's dead body and fell to her knee's before the little girl. The queen of the slums wailed and pulled the little girl up into a tight hug. If only she had taken her on the trip... If only she said yes... Kato hadn't cried so hard in so long. When Lidia came out, she screamed, being held back by the man that informed her. She picked up the little girl, sniffling. Her black make up ran down her cheeks as she stood up, with her legs wobbling. She took a few steps towards the wailing mother, before dropping on her knees again, crying. Kato clung to the little girl, getting up again, walking to Lidia. She looked at Lidia with tears running down her cheeks. "L...Li....Lidia.... I'm... so...so....sorry...." Kato managed to get out with her emotions choking her. Her throat swelled up and she handed the girl to the weeping mother. She shook her head at her daughter and looked at Kato while crying, "It's not your fault..." She took the girl in and Kato fallowed. They got the little girl into her bed and covered her up. Lidia grabbed Kato and started wailing again over her daughter. Kato screamed, in anger and sorrow... She took Lidia downstairs. She made sure that Lidia didn't need anything. Stood outside of the house before going to the bar. She knew it was still way too early before doors open, but she leaned against the bricks and slid down to the ground, weeping. She tried to calm herself down before closing her eyes, wishing it was all a dream.
I wish people didn't see me as a Monster...
Gale looked at Meg and looked sorry for her. He frowned and said sadly, "I am so sorry, Miss Meg. I can only hope the best for you. You're stronger than anyone I know." When she made the comment about his words driving Xayden crazy, he looked at the fighter and raised his hands, "My apologies, sir. If I am offending you, I do apologize." He got up when Meg said she had to go. He nodded and bid the young lady a good evening. He started to walk home, not knowing that he was being fallowed. Gale saw the group of Darklings and they parted for him. He walked inside his apartment and went to his room. The man went to the bathroom, washing off the make up and putting in his silver piercing. He couldn't stop thinking about Meg. Why was she so different from everyone in this wretched city? So kind and beautiful. In this city, you're either beautiful but have a cut throat attitude, much like a b***h like Kato, or ugly as sin but very kind. He truly felt bad for her loss. He couldn't imagine since he hadn't lost anyone close to him. Would he feel anything if he was to lose his own family? Why was he protecting them? He shook his head from the thoughts and untied his hair, letting it hang. He walked to his bed and flopped on it, falling asleep.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gale woke up the next morning and stretched, turning to his side. He decided to sleep in a bit today. He sat up and rubbed his head. He waled into the bathroom, getting a shower. He got dressed soon after and ate an apple for breakfast before seeing his parents for any new mission. None, just be on patrol today. Gale went through different buildings, climbing out of windows and climbing through them. He heard a gun shot with a scream. Gale ran out on the roof, jumping roof to roof. He was in the slums, seeing a girl attack one of the Darklings... wait... that's not a girl! That's Kato! He moved inside, hiding out of the shadows, watching everything. He was a little horrified when she was bashing his mask in his face after cutting his throat with a piano string. What the ******** was this girl on!? Was she born this crazy? He saw it took three grown men to hold back the tiny Raging Russian to calm her down. He saw a little girl dead in the middle of the street, seeing the white haired girl cry over her. Sisters? Cousins? Friends? Kato didn't look like the type to have friends at all! Except Meg, but that was on a customer to bar tender relationship, right? Galeic watched her take the girl to her mother. Their wails and cries could be heard within the area. He frowned and lowered his head, looking down. This was a crime, not justice. What kind of city was his parents running that kills little girls trying to find food? He knew that Kato was going to be in a lot of trouble for killing a Darkling out in public. Apparently she had done it before, which would explain all the missing ones...
Xayden had a rough time with his morning, as had Meg. He looked at her sadly and asked, "Drink?""Drink." She agreed. They both mounted his bike and took off for the bar. It was typical for them to come in the bar when they weren't open. Meg was Syn's favorite employee and Xayden brought him so much business he couldn't refuse him. When they parked out front of Sinister's Bar, Meg went in through the back so she could unlock the front door. When Xayden rounded the corner, he noticed Kato on the ground, absolutely broken. He quickened his speed and knelt in front of her. "Kato? Kato, what happened? You are bleeding and in tears...talk to me, I want to help." he stated as he placed one hand on her chin and lifted her face to look at him. He wiped away her tears, and looked into her eyes with confusion and determination.
"Kato, please tell me what happened." He knew not to ask if she was alright because quite obviously, she wasn't, and he hated it when people asked stupid questions like that. He listened to her story, and understood enough to get the jist of it, as she was so upset it was harder for him to understand her shaky accent. He pulled her up to her feet and gave her a hug, wiping away more tears. He used to do the same thing for his little brother when he got upset, so he hoped she would accept his comfort instead of pushing him away. When Meg arrived, she looked to the two of them and immediately noticed Kato's tears, and blood. She ran over to the two of them looking back and fourth between them. "Kato!? What happened sweetheart!?" Meg rubbed Kato's arm comfortingly before leading them both in from the cold. Meg poured her one of her cotton candy vodka drinks and the usual for Xayden. He led Kato inside, taking off his jacket and putting it over her shoulders as she was shivering. It was a wonder it wasn't snowing, it had gotten so cold. He pulled out a bar stool for her and sat down in one himself, grabbing his drink and taking a shot.
Meg looked between the two of them for answers, so Xayden spoke up so Kato wouldn't have to repeat herself.
"What happened was the Leviaths are dead. All of them. I am going to rip them apart myself. Apparently they murdered a little girl this morning for scavenging. They are starving and the kid just wanted to bring food home to her mom. Some d**k bag Darkling got a hold of her and it was all over. Kato offered herself in place of the girl, Sofie, and they accepted so when the kid runs to Kato they nail her in the back! Those eartless bastards are going to pay. I am sick of them playing God, deciding who lives and who dies, killing at will, and killing for fun. First it was my brother, then Cas, and now this? I am sick of it. I am going after the Leviaths and I am slaughtering them all. Walking in guns blazing. I have had it. As if the people in this area haven't lost enough already. This needs to end, or we need to get the hell out."
Xayden was furious. How could they do that to a child? She was hungry, what did they expect? He knew the kind of pain Kato must be feeling as he had been there himself far too many times. He slammed his drink and Meg poured him another. He shook his head, doing his best not to jump up out of his seat and rock someone a new world.
"She killed a Darkling over it. Kato is one tough cookie. She said piano string at first and then beat him to death with her bare hands. I applaude you Kato, I really do. Not a lot of people can do it without getting killed. The downside of it though is we have to worry about who saw you do it. If you get caught, they''l murder you. I think it might be best if you stay with someone at all times for now, weather it be me or Meg, I don't care, just don't get caught alone. The Darklings are sneaky bastards. They had no right to do that to Sofie or you, or the poor kid's mother. They'll pay for what they did. We can make sure of that." Xayden was getting rather defensive for the girl, feeling that they now shared some common ground.
He thought about how his brother was killed, then Cas, and a ton of others he had witnessed. Wanting to form some sort of plan, he fell silent, in thought, trying to figure a way out, or plan his death walk to get in.
Kato didn't fight Xayden off like she usually did when someone was helping her. She believed that she needed to be strong and have no ones help ever since Neil died. She let Neil hold her as she cried when he asked what happened. She started explaining what had happened to Sofie and what she had done while crying and speaking some in Russian and whatever was English, she stammered while crying, slurring her words. Kato saw Meg come up and asked what happened. She just dropped her head shaking it while crying, "I.......I.....couldn't.... zave...er......" When they took her inside her she sat down on the stool, trying to calm down. She laid her forehead on the bar, looking down as tears fell on the floor. She heard Meg set two glasses down, smelling Xayden's beverage and her vodka. She reached up and grabbed the glass she sat up. Kato looked down at the blue tented liquid and wiped her face from the tears, listening to Xay explain everything to Meg. She shook her head, sniffling, "I killed her. I killed Zofie. If I had taken her out with me this morning, she wouldn't have gotten in trouble... Her last words to me were, 'Kato, please don't let them hurt me'... She was like sister after Neil. Her and her mother helped me back on my feet after Neil died.... I couldn't even zafe her... Mother vuckers..." She calmed down from crying, trying to collect herself, she downed the glass of cotton candy vodka. She put the glass down and looked at Xay, "No, I want heads of Leviaths... Two winters ago, my big brother fell ill. He took care of me after parents died during madness... I go out to find medicines, beg people for help. I have done unspeakable and dirty things. Losing virginity and mind at once. I got medicines but I walked on a Darkling putting his sword through Neil's heart, killing him because he was ill, thus he's weak. He not weak, just ill. I killed Darkling..." Her voice got a little grim as she remembered that day. They killed too many innocent people. She was done with death. "I'm fine on my own. I appreciate your concerns, but too many have fallen around me. I've killed five... well now... six Darklings... They have taken two close to me. I don't need them to kill you two too... I'm sick of this city, I want to leave. God's Paradise seems to unreachable; a childs fantasy..." When Meg refilled her glass, she downed that one too. Despite the tiny Russian girl looking so cute and girly in some of her clothes, she can drink like a full grown Irish man. Kato looked at Meg and said, "Thanks for the drinks.... I just wished things could have gone differently. She had so much in her future in this hell hole. She just had a birthday last week... I can't be around you two, they will target you." She started to get up, but remembered the belt. She grabbed her bag and handed Meg her belt, "Oh, your belt... It's nice and sturdy, has holders for pouches, weapons and a normal sized beer bottle. You know, in case you need drink." She grinned wiping her wet face. Kato took off Xayden's jacket and handed it to him, "Thanks, Xayden."
Xayden listened to Kato's words, understanding fully how she would want revenge. They were both in the same boat having watched the Darklings kill their brothers due to an illness. He didn't believe she should blame herself for Sofie's death though. When she attempted to leave, he caught her hand and pulled her back toward he and Meg, nicely rather than forcefully. Meg had spoken of this place before and thinking on it, they would have a better chance of survival outside the city. Looking up at her from his bar stool, he exhaled. "Alright. You are right. I think all three of us want the Leviaths' heads on platters but I don't see us walking away from that alive. If you two want to go to God's Paradise, so be it. We will go. I know a guy that might be able to get me a map for a price. Keep in mind though, once we are out, there is no coming back. They will have wanted signs plastered everywhere. Are you both sure you want this?"
Looking between the two girls, he waited for their answers. He himself didn't really want to go now that he thought about it. His brother's body was buried in the cemetery here. Around his neck he had a vial of his brother's blood placed inside a crystal to be preserved forever. During that process, he had looked upon his little brother's lifeless face and couldn't just leave him there. So he took a vial of blood to a friend who encased it in a transparent stone he could wear. It was considered a bio hazardous blood stone. His was a Bio Blood Stone because the blood inside had been infected with illness. Very rare, very expensive, and nearly impossible to acquire without knowing the right people. His brother's name 'Noah' was engraved in thin gold calligraphy on the front of it. When he placed it around his neck, he looked to the sky and thought, 'There you go little brother, now you can join me on whatever adventures you want, and watch my back when I get into trouble...I wouldn't leave you behind." They had grown up here, he had a good paying (illegal) job here, and another job that had him quite popular. It wouldn't be easy for him to just walk away, but if it meant protecting Meg and Kato, and making sure they lived full and happy lives, then it had to be done, and he was okay with that.
Meg walked around the bar and sat on a bar stool on the opposing side of Kato. Placing her hand on Kaot's shoulder she looked concerned, able to read Xayden very well, knowing he was thinking the same thing. "Kato...listen, I know you think this is your fault but it isn't. You can't blame yourself for that Darkling's actions, but you can praise yourself for avenging her death so quickly. You are a really good person, you are smart, fast, gorgeous as all hell, you have so much going for you! You can't let this get you down." Meg got to her feet when Kato stood, looking sad and worried. She made the same gesture, but Xayden caught Kato first. His words made her jaw drop. Leave the city? Find God's Paradise? Was Xayden really so bent on keeping the two of them safe that he would give up everything he has on a whim for them?
She knew what kind of person Kato was, but putting it aside, she wrapped her arms around her friend.
"Listen hun, maybe we should consider it. No one is ever safe in this place. It might be a fool's dream, but it has to be better than this place. If it turns out to be fake, I am sure we can find somewhere a lot nicer than this to settle in. I don't think any of us can take any more death in our lives. As much as I'd like to stay here in this bar, it's my home, I don't think I'll live too much longer here. I mean, who knows, any Darkling could just walk right in and blow my brains out at any time. I think Xayden is right. I think we should chance it. What do you say?" She accepted the belt from Kato and smiled, placing it around herself and removing the old one, sliding it into her bag and thanking her.
Kato was shocked when Xayden had grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. It wasn't threatening, but she knew that they weren't going to stand for her just walking out. When she was pulled back, she stood between the two, looking at Xayden as he spoke. What did he just say? No one has ever thrown her off before nor see the face she gave him. Her jaw completely dropped, head down slightly and she looked at him in complete disbelief. This was a suicide mission for a land they don't even know existed. She looked at Meg and pointed to him, "What the vuck did you slip in his drink?" She looked back at him and before she could answer him, she felt Meg wrapping her arms around the small Russian. She was even more dumbfounded. No one has ever attempted to grab her like Xay and hug her like Meg. But then again, no one has attempted to touch her, period. What's with everyone getting so ballsy all of the sudden? Kato looked at the two and sighed, "It's suicide mission, you both know that. And I'm already going to be wanted." She listened to Meg and sighed a bit, thinking. They were right. There was nothing left for them here other than to have the Leviath's family heads. She looked down for a moment and nodded in agreement, "You two are right... There is nothing left for us here. But before we go, I need lists from you both on what you two need so I can scavenge and see what I can't find. Plus, I need to do something personal. Don't worry, nothing bad." Kato surprisingly hugged Meg back and patted Xayden's head when she got her wrist back. She looked at the two and said, "So, I guess we are team, now?" She crossed her arms, looking at the two.
Meg smiled happily at Kato agreeing to go. Part of her knew she didn't want to leave, and the other part wanting out so badly she could scream, but her best friend was going, and a potential best chick friend too, and if they all looked after one another, nothing could stop them. Meg nodded. "Yep! Okay, so we are going to need clothing. The cold is setting in and if we are going to be roughing it in the outlands then we need to have some form of protection against the weather. I am going to need flasks. As many as we can find. Weapons for sure. What are we going to do about food?" She asked having never hunted or scavenged a day in her life. Syn had taken her in back when she was bloody on the streets after the explosion, and had taken care of her like his own ever since. He provided her food, her job, her apartment, everything. It wasn't going to be easy saying goodbye to him.
Xayden interjected then and Meg smiled.
"Alright, works for me. I am sure we will have plenty of time for you guys to teach me a thing or two. I will get the med kit together just in case. I was going to be a nurse when I graduated from college but after everything came crashing down, I decided crappy tavern wench was the next best thing!" She giggled. Thinking about other things they would need, she wrote a list for each person to acquire, and gave it to them. "Anything else you can think of feel free. When do we leave? As soon as possible or?" She asked looking between the two. She didn't know a thing about traveling and was hoping Xay would kind of take the reigns.
Xayden was also glad to see Kato comply, and took the list when given to him. When Meg asked about food, Xayden scoffed. "Don't worry, I have hunting covered. We will have to kill live game and cook it over fire so we best be damn sure we are out of sight before the smoke gives away our position. Once we get twenty or thirty miles out, it should be okay. We just have to check for copters and keep watch on things. I'll get weapons. I have an entire arsenal on my place. Different weapons for different kills. I'll show you both how to use them once we get out and you can have whatever you get comfortable with. Aside from clothes, I think blankets are a good idea. They may suck to haul around on a pack but trust me, they'll come in handy. Maybe a tent? I can probably swing one, but I have to go way underground to get to the guy that might have it.
I think we ought to leave as soon as possible. Fighting Darklings is one thing day or night, but if you get caught in hybrid territory at night, you are so ******** you won't even know what hit you. Even I won't get caught in some places at night. So I am going to get the map, the weapons, and possibly a tent. You girls get what you need and we can meet back here in two hours, at three o'clock. Sound alright? We can take the tunnels to the edge of the city but once we hit the gates we gotta run for it. Everyone good? Don't forget that med kit Meg."
Once everyone was in agreement, Xayden took off for his home and slipped into one of the tunnels. Knowing the way by memory, he came upon a crack head like man who wore a flying cap with large goggles on it. The man was sitting in an abandoned bomb shelter with all kinds of junk lining the walls. "Hey Bruce! Hey man I need your help. I am looking to get out of here and I need a map. I know you've got one. I need to get to God's Paradise." Bruce turned from his computer and looked at Xayden, happy as a clam to see him. He hugged him excitedly before getting up all shaky like and rummaging through a mountain of paperwork. He mumbled alond, nothing making sense until he looked and lifted a scroll. "Here! I've got it! But what is in it for me huh? What are you offering to barter?"
Bruce may be crazy, but he was smart. Xayden crossed his arms and thought a moment before pacing the floor a bit and smiling.
"Alright Brucie, tell ya what. How about The moment I leave, anything and everything I don't take with me in my house is yours. All of it. I am traveling by foot so I can't take it all with me. What do you say?" Bruce's eyes lit up as she shook himself up and down with glee. "Yes yes yes! More things! More things!" He handed him the scroll and opened it to explain the map. He highlighted the more dangerous areas and made it color coded with what beasts would be where. After that, he rolled it up and gave it to Xayden, before Xay asked if he had a tent somewhere. Bruce nodded and gave him the look and Xayden already had it covered. Handing him a fifty dollar bill Bruce shouted in happiness and dug around for the tent. It was a dark murky color of greens and browns and blacks to blend in with the carnage ridden cities they were to pass.
"It isn't the biggest but it's the only one with all it's pieces! I put it together myself! It's all there! I promise! I promise!" Xayden thanked him and bid his friend farwell, before returning to his home. Grabbing a large, army styled, backpack, he started with small personal items. He slipped a silver ring on his right ring finger, one that had belonged to his brother. He rolled extra jeans, tee shirts, long sleeves, socks, button up shirts, and boxers, before then rolling his blanket and setting it in there too. Finally he mashed his pillow on the top before zipping it closed without too much hassle. He grabbed a messenger bag and filled it with different smaller sized guns and ammunition. He slipped his favorite jacket on, then his favorite leather coat on over it. He grabbed a silver chain link bracelet and clasped it onto his wrist, thinking it could be a good bartering tool later on, considering it was pure silver, and that was hard to come by nowadays. Looking around his home and checking to be sure he hadn't missed anything important, he looked to his bedside table and saw a picture of his brother and himself together only a few days before he had died. That is what got him. He was almost better, and those dicks killed him anyway.
He slipped the picture into his wallet, and placed his wallet back into his pocket, chain jingling against his leg as it always did. He strapped on a weapons belt and filled it full, knives and guns galore. He checked in the mirror and liked that he seemingly had nothing on him but a backpack and a messenger bag. He looked over his home one last time before closing the door behind him as he went back into the tunnels. Ending up in the basement of the bar, he walked up to the main floor, tucked his bags behind the bar and waited for Meg and Kato to arrive. It was nearly three, and he was anxious. Leaning over and grabbing a bottle of whiskey, he took a shot and slipped the bottle into his bag, with the thought of 'Oh hell, we are definitely going to need this.'
Meg headed up the steps into her apartment to get things together. She too had a messenger bag and she headed straight for her bathroom to restock her med kit. Band aids, antibacterial ointment, pain relievers, fever reducers, cough syrup, you name it she had it. She packed it all neatly into a plastic lock box and slipped the box into her bag. She grabbed a backpack similar to Xayden's army one she had actually gotten from him awhile back. She packed what few clothes she had, then walked about her room, collecting her personal items. She started with her double sided, closing, silver picture frame. It was smaller, containing a picture of Cas and her last summer when they met. Someone snapped a shot of them swooning over each other at the bar, and it was literally a kodak moment. On the opposing side, she was facing the camera while he was planting a kiss on her cheek. Her expression was super shocked and happy, laughing like there was no tomorrow, and his was goofy yet meaningful. She closed and locked the frame shut, sliding it into ther bag. She grabbed a flask with Cas' initials on it, and slid it into one of her slots on her belt, making a mental note to fill it before they left.
She rolled up her heavier blanket and tucked it away, and like Xayden, had the pillow on top. Meg hopped in the shower and got dressed in an outfit dangerously similar to the one from the night before. The jeans were about the same, maybe a bit tighter. She slipped on her grey long sleeve, her jacket, and her leather coat before drying her hair enough for it to curl correctly. Xay had taught her how to panic pack, just in case of emergencies, hence why they were so similar. She heard Xay enter the bar, and knew she was running out of time. She grabbed her faithful purse that had a strap to place over her shoulder opposite the messenger bag. Slipping what little makeup she rarely used into it, she applied some liner, mascara, and power before zipping it all up. She made a quick call to Syn and told him what was going on. He supported her fully and promised to throw the Leviaths a lie or two to keep them off her trail.
She took her bags to the bar and greeted Xay as she tucked them away next to his. With a hard exhale, she grabbed a few full, unopened bottles of whiskey, vodka, and tequila having the same thought process as Xayden. He chuckled a bit as he drank from a different bottle, keeping the ones he had stolen a secret. Filling Cas' flask with tequila, she slipped it back into her belt, and looked up as Xayden strated filling her belt with weapons. The clock read three fifteen. What was keeping Kato? Beginning to worry, Meg paced, drinking tequila and biting her nails
I wish people didn't see me as a Monster...
Galeic walked among building to building listening to the three of them. He frowned and knelt down, listening. They were planning to leave? Maybe this is his ticket out. He didn't want to reign over this cirt, he had no desire to walk in his fathers foot steps. Nor his mothers. When they had splitten up, he walked back to the roof, finding a Darkling. "Sir, we have witnessed Kato Von Gear kill one of our own. Do you know where she went," He asked. Gale made himself look surprised and shake his head, "No, but keep looking. Don't kill her, I'm sure Mother and Father would want to meet the killer of Darklings." "Yes, sir." The Darkling walked away in search for the white haired girl. He went home and packed up important things such as clothes, weapons and some food in a back pack. He went to his medicine cabinet and grabbed as much pills and vaccines as he needed. He sneaks out of his house, using the back. He walked to a vacant house that was partially destroyed. He climbed up and slipping into the shadows, avoiding the Darklings and being seen from anyone. He made it to the bar, without make up or an disguises. He was either going to die or be accepted... He knocked on the door before entering. Gale held his breath and walked in, closing the door behind him. "May I speak with you two? I know your plans, but I intend not to stop you. No one else knows. I spoke to the three of you last night. I'm Galeic." He reached in his bag and dug out the medicines, tossing them to Xayden. Galeic put this things down, bag, weapons and took off his trench coat to show he dropped all his weapons. He put his hands up in surrender. "I'm not here to cause trouble. I saw what happened between Kato and my parents darkling... they were not my orders. I am here to ask if I may tag along with you three. To leave the city..." He kept his hands up and stood very still.
Xayden jumped a bit when a knock came upon the closed bar. He brandished his gun and stood in front of Meg defensively as he listened to the man speak. He kept his gun pointed and looked over the remedies given to him. "How do we know this isn't some idiot trick to lead your men right to Paradise and take it over? How are we supposed to trust you when you just stroll in here and tell us everything you let us think about you just last night was a lie?" Kepping his gun pointed, he didn't even flinch when Meg placed her hand on his shoulder. Stepping up beside Xayden, she looked at Gale and spoke. "Let's just listen and see what he has to say Xayden. Maybe things aren't what they seem. Gale, why would you want to accompany us anyway? You have an entire city before your own feet to rule. By rights, you should be sending a slew of Darklings our way to stop us for our treachery. You haven't told anyone. I know you haven't because no one is here to shoot us down. Please explain so I can understand."
Xayden grunted and glared Gale down.
"Unless he just wants us to think he hasn't told anyone. What if he has people on stand by until we make it to the gates, or even to God's Paradise? Then what? He betrays us and slaughters us, then his twisted a** family brings that down too? This whole thing is awful sketchy and I don't like it. I wonder what Kato will have to say about this. Who knows, she is nearly half an hour late, that isn't like her. What if those bastards already got her and we are sitting ducks? You can't seriously be considering this Meg, can you?" Xayden's way of thinking was nothing short of genius. Analyzing every outcome this could be before trusting anyone outside Meg and Kato. He was the protector and a damn good one at that. Keeping his gun raised with dead aim, he waited for Gale to respond. Meg's expression showed a bit of irritation, thinking Xayden to be jumping to conclusions irrationally. She turned to look at Gale, and her expression softened, wanting to understand the method behind his madness. Why would he betray his own family? There had to be a reason. Meg believed there was goodness in all people, and was willing to consider that that goodness was wishing to stand out in Gale against whatever grudge he must be holding against them.
