Jake safely back in her sight again, Sherry could breathe a sigh of relief. It helped that he had said he fine, and from her vantage he hardly looked any different. Not that she could tell, anyway. Of course, there were some days where ‘alive’ was good enough, so no outward signs of injury were always great.
“Okay!” She yelled before going through her mental checklist again. Jake, beast, anchor…all accounted for and well, more or less. Which meant it was time to check for spikes. Nothing of note, from her vantage. The titan itself was trying to lumber about, but in more of a slow rocking motion than a drastic run or anything. Looking good, looking good.

If the titan broke into a run, they were doomed. Though, now that he thought about it, he had never actually see one run. It was more like... lumbering or something. Why was that? It was either boredom and odd curiousity that he asked such stupid questions, as he realized that from their perspective, it'd probably look like lumbering regardless considering how big they were, and to them, it was like looking like humans move from an ant's perspective. It was a little depressing, comparing themselves to ants.
Shaking his head, he got rid of such thoughts. No, focus. Stop getting side-tracked. Ants had good traits too! Like they were hard-working, and could carry several times their weight...
... he had no idea what he was doing.

Sherry would have agreed with Jake on most counts. She was, however, busy with her own thoughts. She was thinking about safety and how hard it was to help Jake in this situation and how useless she almost felt, not being able to do more than just watch his back and carry bandages. She was also thinking about much easier this was than fulfilling that shopping list. Ugh.
“Nice!” she yelled, watching Jake attack. So much easier than shopping. All kinds of straightforward here. “Keep that up! And watch out! Too the right! Right!” She wasn’t completely useless, but really, this yelling and pointing felt a little less than helpful.
Headsets. She’d ask about headsets.

Jake would vehemently argue that Sherry was far from useless had he been able to hear her thoughts. Who was it that aided him in these titan patrols, making sure he didn't end up getting himself killed? Who was it that dragged his near lifeless body to the infirmary after he stupidly got too close to it? And who was it that stayed by his side no matter what, even when he threatened harm on her? Given all these circumstances, and that she was still here, continuously supporting him despite everything he had done, he could say that Sherry had done far more for him than any sane person would have, not that... he was calling her crazy.
The shopping trip may have been hellish, but it brought some sort of hope with it, that perhaps with time, the portals would be up for personal leave, considering it was fully functional for the resupply mission, which was... less resuppy and more shopping demands. Maybe soon, he'd be able to take Sherry out, not for errands, or missions, but just some quiet relaxing time. What he wouldn't do to have everything just a little less hectic.
Sherry's voice cut through his thoughts, and he turned, smiling. That HAD been a nice hit, hadn't- He totally didn't look to the right.

Regardless of all the things in the past, the fact was that watching Jake get hit with spikes and shocks while she could do little to assist other than scream and point like some little girl with a spider nearby made her a little sad. But there was something she could do about that. “You still okay up there?” She could yell queries about his health, too.
And then when this was over she could force Jake to take a break, at least for a few minutes, so they both could catch some rest. She had the feeling he’d try to run himself into the ground again, but she could try to delay that, if nothing else.
“Need a bandage?”

Screaming about spiders was nothing to be ashamed of, considering Deus Ex version spiders were probably 100 times the size of a regular spider and had 3 times the amount of limbs. At least, that's what he vaguely remembered from another mission, along with tons of tiny little spiders. Even as a guy, it was horrifying, even more so when they were attempting to climb up you. So terrifying. Why he was remembering such a thing now was beyond him. Perhaps considering the past things they fought, it was scary to say that the titans were probably the most pleasing to the eye.
... what has this world come to. "I'm good! Shield's still in tact." Poor Sherry would probably find herself fighting him tooth and nail over such matter, as he had no plan on stopping, even if disabled. He had wasted enough time as is.

It was a battle Sherry was willing to take on, and if she would find a way to force some bit of rest between attempts to take on giant monsters. Some way. She had a few ideas in mind, but she hoped she wouldn’t have to resort to all of them.
For now, though, there was the titan of the moment, and they were already out here dealing with it. Smoothly enough, so far, especially if Jake’s shield was still intact like he said. Sherry smiled, glad to hear that news. Bandages for another time, then.
“Left, Jake, left!” There always seemed to be something sparking somewhere. “Careful up there!” She knew she didn’t need to say it but she felt like saying anyway.

It was sad to say that Sherry would probably win said struggle whether through force, or if she resorted to begging. But for now, it was not a concern, and he was determined to keep this up for as long as he could.
He heard Sherry shouting again, and nodded, turning his head in the direction she pointed. It kinda reminded him of Deathsweeper. Bittersweet memories. He winced slightly as a stray spark caught him, thankful that the shield protected him from getting electrocuted, and focused on dispatching the spine.
... or he would have if he didn't end up tripping.

Sherry would hope she could win. It would be terrible to lose her boyfriend to fatigue from titan hunting. Sherry sighed.
And watched. She cringed again when he fell, things not going quite to plan. “Oop.” It didn’t look too bad, but it was hard to tell. “Watch it!”
How much longer did they have to wait on this beast? Too long, for sure. “Hang in there, Jake!” Smiles and waves of encouragement were given. He was doing well, despite everything. Or at least Sherry thought so.

Jake definitely had a stubborn streak, which meant he wouldn't give up without putting some sort of a fight, or at least give Sherry a little bit of a hard time, but in the end, if she really felt they needed a break, there wasn't really anything he could do about it, considering he needed her help for these patrols, and he was at least somewhat considerate enough not to do it (or put off doing it for a bit) if it was going to cause strain to Sherry.
Hearing her call out in concern, he quickly pushed himself up. Well, that was embarrassing. Ok, time to get serious.

Of course she was going to say he needed a break, if not after this titan, then after the next. She would need one, too, but she was probably not going to bring that up. Her worries were for Jake, who had been knocked around pretty good by one of these things not too long ago. But, there was also the added worry of the runic weapons and time limits. (She didn’t want to think about deadlines.) So, letting Jake push himself was fine, he needed it, but she’d just make sure he didn’t push too far. “That’s it! Get back up and keep at it!” All the smiles. Defending Jake for: 7 HP: 50

Perhaps sooner than later, considering how he was tripping all over the place. Not that... he'd actually admit it (keeping balance was hard ok, especially when tired). But he needed to think about Sherry too, and knew that the shopping trip had been rather hard on her also. It was to be expected, he supposed, considering she WAS shopping for the death lead...
Unfortunately for Sherry, he never really knew when it was "too far", as he often pushed his body to the limit, ignoring the usual signals and cues that would tell any sane person to stop. If only he had more time... but he knew asking for an extension when he had been given a chance he didn't deserve was out of the question.

Thankfully, Sherry knew this about Jake, and she would do her best to make sure he didn’t go too far over that line of “past the point of exhaustion” or whatever. Her very best. And it all started by keeping an eye on him, which thankfully, she was doing anyway.
“Jake!” She called, pointing again, “Up there! Up! I think that one is about charged!” She couldn’t be sure, but it was sparkly. “Watch out for it!” Watching him nervously, Sherry decided after this she’d make sure to get an honest answer about how he was feeling out of him. With the way he kept tripping, he might need that rest after this. They could double up on patrols tomorrow or something. Sherry highly doubted Jake would like that idea, though.

It must have been tiring having to constantly watch over him like a little kid, but thankfully, she was probably able to overpower him should he try being reckless. Heck, anyone was probably able to overpower him at this point.
It wasn't that he was tripping due to fatigue (or perhaps that played some part), but it was hard keeping steady on a moving object, kinda like standing upright on a moving bus without holding on to anything.
"Up WHERE?" Perhaps she forgot he was already up on the titan, so "up" wasn't really a good direction to be telling him to watch out for, and ended up getting a shock from the spine to his left. "A... a little late for that." Ow that hurt.

Sherry cringed as it became clear that her warning didn’t help. She was doing a poor job of running support and keeping an eye on him. She wouldn’t have called babysitting or anything similar (he was not a princess golem), but this was her job, watching, defending and healing. To Sherry it was vastly different than watching a little kid. (Making sure he didn’t go and kill himself somehow could have been a different story, but Sherry would have argued that, too.)
“Sorry!” She really needed to pay better attention to what was going around them. At least she didn’t need to watch the anchor too closely. That would have been even worse and more distracting.
“I’ll try to keep a better eye on things!”
