"Tell you what, when we're out of this, let's come back to this tree and knock it down. It's obviously a hazard to flight. And no one messes with the guest of a knight of the Shadow." Okay, okay, here we go. Now.

Saltic leapt off the branch. There were no branches lower on the tree--they had died, rotted, and fallen off many years ago as they were outshaded by nearby trees and eaten by bugs. This current branch wasn't doing so well, either--it cracked under their strain. Definitely time to leave. And what a dramatic leaving it was! A lyra as blue as twilight, with a lovely arctara on his back, fiery wings spread out to catch the air...and promptly lose it. The stars plummeted to the ground, Saltics legs held out in a desperate attempt to break the fall. At the last moment, his legs realized what a poor idea this was and folded up. Most of them, anyway--one of them hadn't quite gotten the idea soon enough.

There was a crack, and it most certainly was not from a broken tree branch. As his ribs and belly met the ground, all of the air was forced out of Saltic's chest in a tremendous whoosh. For a moment, Saltic was numb, but that blessed moment didn't last for very long. With his front left leg crumpled underneath him, and his belly and ribs aching from the hard contact with the ground, he wanted to scream in pain. Fire was shooting up his leg and into his throat, but with no air in his lungs, he could do nothing more than gasp. Thankfully, that gave him time to grit his teeth. "You...alright?" he gasped.

That sounded like a marvelous idea! Damiana didn't want that tree standing any longer than it had to. Shi was ready to knock it down now! But with the crash landing on the ground. Shi heard the cracking and cringed. Shi could have tried to hold onto Saltic as much as shi could and open hir wings. No, shi just hung on and let them drop. Scrambling off Saltic, wings shuffling at hir sides as shi looked down at hir wounded knight.

"Yes, yes I am alright. What about you?" worry filled hir voice as shi looked around hoping that there would be someone else around to help Saltic. But it looked like they were on their own. "You think you can stand? That was a nasty cracking sound."

Prancing a little bit in place, shi forgot abou the horn that extended from hir forehead. Not that it would do much good, Damiana wasn't a healer, shi was a hunter. Naturally. Red eyes glanced around nervously, what to do. What to do!

Saltic had noticed the slender horn that rose from the stallion's forehead, but if she'd actually known how to use it as a tool for healing, she would have offered by now. Saltic had a pretty good idea that he was well on his way to wrapping her around his le--okay, bad analogy, very bad analogy. The lyra stared at his twisted leg and shook his head numbly. "Nope. Abso, absollllutely, n. Not. Can't stand, definitely can't stand. I gotta...I need a healer. Listen. My aunt, she can heal me. Us. She hasn't had a lot of practice, but she can definitely heal us. Just gotta...gotta go find her, okay?"

He gulped. Finding Tonestue and getting her help had been the plan since he saw those ripped wings, but back then, in the long-distant past of five minutes ago, the plan had been Saltic confidently leading Damiana into the Shadow camp, right into the courtier's area, and finding that place draped with vines where his aunt could be found. But now it was a complete stranger, with fangs, giant bat wings, and a razor-sharp horn designed for stabbing, waltzing into the middle of the camp, and demanding to take away a pregnant mare to where a knight lay injured and helpless. Well, that was going to be a total non-starter. But, as a twinge that sent nausea spiraling through his head, throat, and belly reminded him, he really, really, really needed the healer.

"L-listen, Damiana. Take the necklace I'm wearing. Take it west of here. Follow the scent of other stars. Eventually you'll find a camp in the thickest part of the forest around a clearing. Tell them...tell them that Saltic did a very stupid thing, and he needs Tonestue's help." Please let them believe her! He stuck out his neck towards her to allow her to remove the gold chain.

Shi paced even more! Shi was an intruder in this land, hir Knight was injured, shi was unable to fly. This wasn't the start of a wonderful thing, this was a DISASTER! Turning hir head towards Saltic as he mentioned where to go and to take his necklace with hir. Not good, not good! Perhaps he could lean on hir? No, he couldn't even get up onto his own hooves to begin with. Shaking hir head, Damiana reached over and took Saltic's necklace.

"West, got it, I think." Shi wasn't sure, west smelt like a lot of stars and a lot of stars meant trouble. "I'll be back as soon as I can."

With the necklace dangling from hir mouth, Damiana headed off towards where the scent of stars was strongest. Eyes kinda wild, shi just ran as fast as hir hooves could take hir. Ears flicking, shi wouldn't have noticed if anyone came up around hir. Shi had one thing on hir mind, getting the healer that Saltic had spoken of and getting them to help him.

User ImageDamn that boy. Where was he? Retinadeath's grandson (the only one around, she reminded herself) had been doing well lately. He'd even managed to correct his aunt's mistake in training without being too much of an a**. So he'd deserved a break. But easy patrols were a privilege, not a right. Or, to put it more accurately, they were an easy job, not an excuse to break protocol. He still needed to actually report back at the end of his patrol, and his patrol had ended five minutes ago. Normally, a gap of five minutes was nothing, and was even to be applauded (especially on their western border with the Sunflare). But he was patrolling the main compound. Even if he hadn't been late, she should have seen his blasted orange feathers in the distance. What was taking him so long?!

With a disgruntled sigh, Retinadeath got to her feet and stormed off towards the east to find her wayward grandchild. All along, she muttered and cursed to herself. Give the boy one chance to prove himself, and did he? Noooooo, he skived off! The general's wings were held close to her body to avoid the branches on either side of the narrow path, and her hair, tangled from years of carelessness, flopped over her neck as she hissed and spat under her breath.

It didn't take long, however, before her hissing and snarling stopped. That was because her nose had been met with an unwelcome stench. Leathery skin. Blood. And a stallion that did not smell like any she knew. Retinadeath fell silent and retreated a few steps back into the undergrowth. It would do nothing to hide her appearance for long--not with her coloration--but it would last just long enough. Long enough for a part-solara, part-arcturus stallion to come through the undergrowth, eyes flicking from side to side without seeing. Clenched in his mouth was the golden chain of Retinadeath's grandson's necklace.

The Death General's blood went cold. She arose from the undergrowth, her wings fanning out wide to give her a larger, and more threatening appearance. "Explain yourself," she said flatly. "Quickly."

Hir movements had been fast and when something brightly colored, blue and orange and read for that matter, leaped into sight. Damiana had little choice but to skid to a halt to avoid colliding with this more imposing star. Shi on the other hoof didn't make the stop really all that smoothly as shi still almost collided with the star. Looking at at the mare with those frightened, wild red eyes, Damiana just crouched there. Saltic's necklace still dangling between clenched jaws. Was this one of the stars that Saltic had wanted hir to find? Certainly didn't look like a healer to hir, but then again shi never seen one before to begin with.

'Explain yourself!' had come from the mare before hir, this made Damiana squirm backwards into an awkward position. 'Quickly!' This didn't sound good. Shi was already in trouble.

"Saltic. Tree. Long fall. Broke his leg." Damiana spouted off after releasing the necklace from hir mouth. "Sent to find Aunt. Said to be a healer." Shi wasn't making too much sense, but it was hard to think with so much flying around in hir head.

If all this ended well, shi would need to lay down. Then again... Shi might just do that here and now. And Damiana did. Eyes rolling back in their sockets, shi flopped over onto hir side and just laid there. Torn leather wings covering hir side in the process.

Well. This was certainly unexpected. Retinadeath listened to the stallion's hurried explanation, then watched as it keeled over. She stared at the other star for several moments, waiting for signs of movement. Its sides rose and fell. Good. It was alive. She reached down, keeping an eye on that sharp horn, and picked up the necklace. With that, she turned back towards camp and began to trot. As she did, tumbling thoughts were kicked aside in favor of planning. She would need one star to watch over the stallion to make sure he didn't move. And one or two knights as an escort for Tonestue. She reviewed who was active at the moment. Cranium--no, he was on his special mission. Osteocyte? Couldn't be trusted. Azura and Irishstorm were on patrol, Wolfbane and Cataracta still needed mentoring...which left just Ruadh and Anand available for help. Well, s**t. Ruadh...Ruadh was a bit unpredictable. He'd never disobeyed, directly or indirectly, any order she'd given him, but she still wasn't sure if she could trust him with a prisoner. He might slit the stallion's throat to drink its blood.

Anand, on the other hand? Anand could watch over the other star, albeit nervously, and spring into action should any indication of a threat be given. Retinadeath and Ruadh could serve as an escort for Tonestue. And, lucky for her, Ruadh was returning from patrol and Anand just rising for patrol now. "You. You. With me." She flicked her tail and turned towards Tonestue's den without waiting to see if the knights were following her. She didn't need to. They would be. She nuzzled her adopted daughter awake gently. "I need your help with your nephew. He asked for you specifically.

User ImageTonestue blinked her eyes sleepily. Her tail was curled over her swollen belly and she'd only just gotten to sleep a few hours ago. Her back hurt. Her legs hurt. Pretty much everything felt like it hurt. How had her mother done this three times? And with no less than three children each?! She wanted nothing more than to tell the rest of the world to go away until labor had passed, but it didn't look like that was going to be possible. She had a duty, to her herd, to her family, to her profession. "Alright, alright, I'm up," she said with uncharacteristic bad grace. She slowly lifted herself to her hooves, making no attempt to hide a groan of dissatisfaction. Just once, just once, she'd like to get a full night's sleep without being kicked in the stomach all the time. "Where is he?"

...Damnit. She hadn't thought to ask. Not that it mattered anyway, the intruder was unconscious. "East of here. Some intruder entered the territory and Saltic broke his leg."

Tonestue was fully awake and gruntled in an instant. "Where's the intruder?" she asked.

"Unconscious. Anand will be guarding him until he wakes up and we can question him.

Anand blinked but did not say a word. He was to guard a prisoner? All by himself? In the middle of the night? Okay. He could do that. But if that thing even twitched, he was going to be all over it like...well, like himself. Like a crazed hawk, more or less.

"And I?" Ruadh whispered. He had been looking forward to going to bed, but if there was action to be had, he was all for it. The crazed stallion lived for conflict. Pity he wouldn't get to guard the prisoner. Which was a puzzlement, really--after all, Anand was just a dark knight. He, Ruadh, a loyal follower of the Shadow since Moloch's time, was a death knight, and yet, he wasn't trusted with guarding a prisoner all by himself?

Retinadeath did not stand still to respond. She led the posse back to the main clearing. "You'll be with me to provide escort to Tonestue. Wolfbane!" she barked. "You're in charge of the camp until I get back! There might be intruders about. Get Azura and Irishstorm to help you when they get back from patrolling the eastern border. Watch it," she growled to Osteocyte as she passed.

Osteocyte snorted. Same old Death General. He turned towards Wolfbane. "Orders, wolf-pup?" he asked. He leaned against a tree. Thank Capricorn and Ophiuchus that the feather-brain was out of camp and out of control for once...

Kesmi
I'll leave Wolfbane and Damiana a chance to respond here.

User ImageWolfbane, being asleep with his siblings, if there was such a thing considered as sleep. His head popped up as his name was yelled, scrambling to his hooves he was over by his mother quickly. Ears turned forwards, he pulled himself up to seem higher then the yearling he was. He was in charge of the came? This was interesting, he could do this. Nodding to his mother's advice he watched the troup leave to where Saltic had to have been. His mind turning over ideas of who or what this intruder must have been.

"Of course mother." Wolfbane has said as his mother left, turning towards the one who made a comment unfitting to a Knight. "Why don't you just go lay down somewhere before you hurt yourself." A retort of course, but he wasn't in the mood to be called 'Wolf-pup'. He might have been young, but he wouldn't put up with it.

Turning away from Osteocyte, Wolfbane headed off in another direction to meet up with those coming off patrols. He needed people here just in case this intruder had friends and it was all a ploy to get into the herd ground.

Damina remained just about where shi had fallen. But shi had shifted a little to get hir injured wing out from beneath hir weight. The tears in the leather had stopped bleeding a while ago, but it was still a strong stench about hir. An eye flicked open for a moment to see who was around now. The scent was certainly different. This was another stallion, with a sense of priorities. Shi wasn't going to be getting out of this one, not in the slightest. Not that Damiana wanted to leave. Shi had found hir Knight and shi was sticking to it.

Loxosceles, awaken from her slumber by the commotion, bustled out of the hollow she shared with Anand and looked around. A large group of stars left with the pregnant healer. Looking for someone around, Lox spotted Osteocyte leaning agaist a tree. Her mane still a bit of a mess, Lox headed over.

"What happened? Where did they take Tonestue?" She asked simply, looking towards the trees.

User ImageSuch a ruckus! Cataracta heard her mother shouting from somewhere off in the clearing and felt her brother move from nearby. Cat groaned. She wanted nothing more than to get some more sleep, to lie down and rest. But if Wolfbane was getting up and everyone was shouting, chances were that they'd all been called to arms. Cat pushed herself to her hooves and cantered out behind her brother. Her sisters and other brothers could continue to sleep--courtiers, for the most part. She and Wolfbane were recruits, though. Recruits had to follow the army. And from the looks of it, the entire knighthood was on the move. Anand and Ruadh followed Mother out of the camp along with Tonestue; Osteocyte was getting scolded by her brother. Well. That settled the question of who was in charge--neither of the two Death Knights were in the camp. Naturally, Wolf was in charge. "Mon capitan, what would you have me do?" she asked. Her burning eyes bored into his. "I will not lie down." You cannot be rid of me that easily, brother.

Osteocyte raised an eyebrow at the orange upstart. Oh? Telling him to go to bed, hey? Well, fine then. Signs forbid he remind the deputy that when the army was on full-alert, one did not send one of your soldiers to time-out just because he reminded you that you were a tiny little thing. "As you command, sir," he said before turning and slinking away. His retreat was brought up short by Loxosceles. Cripes, was there anyone in this herd who wasn't related to Retinadeath?! "Apparently your little brother did something stupid, and Tonestue has to fix him up. The general thinks it might be a distraction from an invasion." Osteocyte considered the algiedi mare. She occupied a strange place on the hierarchy; she had not yet officially joined the army, and had in fact shown no interest in it than oggling her mate when he was all sweaty and tired. Osteo had mentally categorized her as an "irregular"--a fighter to be called on in an emergency. He got the impression that Retinadeath had classified her as such as well. "Your uncle's in charge. You can get your orders from him." With that, he returned to his own thorn-lined den.

Anand was dropped off at the side of the solara stallion to keep watch. Right. Watch. He could do this. Even if he would much rather be curled around Loxosceles right now. He lifted his head to scent at the air, but other than the other stallion, there was no other intruder that he could smell. He looked the captive over. He had ripped wing webs all over, but while some of them were superficial near the edge of the membrane, such as one might get over a lifetime of flying, others were fresh and covered in clotted blood. Some of the wounds were still healing. He didn't dare go forward and lick them. Instead, he circled the other star until it began to twitch. He leapt backwards, then took two steps back towards the captive. "You are a trespasser on Shadow Herd land. Stay still until the Death General can return."

Ruadh led the way back towards Saltic, tracking him by the scent of the stranger's blood. When they finally found the lyra, Retinadeath was torn between relief that he was still alive and anger at what he'd wrought. Tonestue inspected the damage as Saltic whimpered out the story of how he'd broken his leg. Tonestue and Retinadeath exchanged glances. Stallions. They were always the same (except Ruadh, obviously).

"What could I do? She was hurt!"

Tonestue gave her nephew a bemused look. "She? Saltic, you and me need to have a little chat at some point."

Saltic scowled. "She acts like a mare. Just because she's got stallion-parts doesn't mean she's a stallion."

"No, actually, Saltic, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what the word 'stallion' means."

They were interrupted by Retinadeath. "Can you fix his leg or not?" Saltic was one of her troops; she needed him back on his feet.

Tonestue sighed. "I've dealt with bumps and bruises before, Ma, but I've never had to deal with a broken leg. Most stars try to avoid breaking legs." She shot Saltic a glare. "He's got some abrasions on his legs, but I don't think I can fix that, not overnight. I can fix it a little each day, but I'm not up to legs yet."

Retinadeath growled in frustration. "We can't leave him in the forest," she muttered. She looked around. "We'll have to build a stretcher and drag him back to camp."

Wolfbane watched as the older Knight left, he didn't need him fawning, not that many did that. It just felt like it, but Wolf could see that he might have made a mistake in telling him to go lay down. He just wanted those around to be rested the best they could. No good having a worn out Knight when intruders come crawling out of the trees. Still, he looked back at the skeletal stallion as he walked towards his den. Terrific, he was already doing things wrong. As his head lowered, his sister came bounding up beside him, a thought struck him.

"Yes Cat, you can help me. Take a message to Osteocyte. Tell him I need him to tell her Majesty of the intruder. he didn't seem too pleased of my dismissing." And he had been wrong to do so. "If he says I should make up my mind, tell him that I have."

This was all he said to his sister, hoping that she would help him do at least that. If or when she returned to him, he could have her do something else that was useful. For now, he waited to see what happened. If the intruder was to be brought in, or what.

Lox on the other hand watched the Knight walk away. Frowning slightly as she was made known that her uncle, but a yearling, was n charge? This was strange. Her grandmother must have needed to leave the grounds to hunt for Saltic. What had that fickly brother, rather half brother, gotten himself into this time? And what was this about an intruder?

Shaking her head, fiery mane waving against her black neck. She would hunt to Anand and see this for herself. She was no knight, nor did she really want to be. Lox was a lover, not a fighter. Heck, she had a small vain streak going and she didn't want to blemish that, now didn't she? For now, Loxosceles headed back to the den she shared with Anand to await the return of her knight.

Hir twitch made this new stallion jump. Was he always this jumpy? Surely he had better nerves then this. Rolling slightly to get the pressure off hir side. Damiana opened hir eyes and stared at Anand. Shi didn't really more from this laying position. At least this way, it didn't feel like shi was crushing hir insides.

"Death General? Sounds horrid." was all Damiana said before looking back the way shi had come. "Though I do hope that Saltic is alright. That was a nasty fall. Don't know what he was thinking in the first place." Hir head tilted to one side looking back at the stallion guarding hir. "And who might you be?"

Ah, good, she had a job to do. Cataracta would rather not be sent back to the den. First of all, it made a very bad showing of her in a crisis situation, and second, it couldn't possibly make Wolf very happy with her if he had to send her back. The last thing she wanted to do was piss off Wolf--he was a star who was going somewhere. Cat preferred avoiding those people when at all possible; when it wasn't possible, she'd rather please them than anything else. Remain useful--that was the key. "Will do, sir!" she said with a manic grin. She saluted with her wingtip, then trotted back to the den Osteocyte inhabited. "Boss says go tell the queen what's the what," she said. She punctuated the statement with a kick to the lying stallion's ribs.

If that brat wasn't--! But of course, she was. Osteocyte got to his feet with a grumble and stumbled off to the queen. A thought struck him; "Cataracta, could you ask your brother if it might be a good idea, perhaps, to wake up Stormlight? I'd hate for him to have to miss out on a fight." With that, he turned back to the royal pavilion. He pawed at the ground in the reception area; he dared not go back into the Queen's boudoir. To do so would be treason. It was bad enough being in the reception hall without permission. "Your occlusive majesty!" he bellowed. "Intruders in the forest!"

elfstar89
It's Osteocyte, Blod. Feel free to kick him. Everyone else does.

Huh. Stormlight. Cat couldn't contain a giggle. She hated the ambition that ran rampant through the herd, but she had to admit, the pettiness of the intra-herd squabbling was the greatest of all entertainments. She raced back to her brother and saluted again. "Captain Wolfbane! Osteocyte has been sent on his mission! Permission to wake Dark Knight Stormlight? He has not yet reported for emergency duty!" The herd must be under an emergency to wake the queen about an intruder. So, the question was, which idiot soldier had gotten jumped by a trespasser? Please, o Ophiuchus, let it be Saltic! That would make her night complete.

Anand watched the stallion warily. He knew why he had been assigned this job. He had a reputation for attacking at the slightest provocation. He had to--he was just a little bird, and little birds have to fight back if they have any chance of survival. It was why he was still around, surrounded as he was by knights and generals. He watched the stallion roll over. He looked uncomfortable. With his wings folded under him and obviously hurt, nothing was comfortable, probably. "I am dark knight Anand. And the general?" He shrugged. Death General was probably the scariest sounding title in the herd; well, besides the heads of the courtiers. "What about Chaos Duke of Fire? Or Chaos Duchess of Earthquakes?"

"Was that my name?" Tonestue said wearily. She sighed and stood next to the stallion--mare--whatever. "I can't fix Saltic's leg, not right now. So he asked me to fix your wings instead, 'Miss' Damiana." She lowered her horn to the first of the solara's wing cuts. "Saltic told me that he jumped out of a tree to help you."

Anand couldn't help it. He burst out laughing. Wow. Just wow. Mind you, if Lox told him to jump out of a tree... He stopped laughing. "Makes sense," he murmured.

Blue light radiated from Tonestue's horn, spiraling gently down and around the wound, pulling the sides of the skin together. "Oh no, not you, too," she groaned. "How does that make any sense at all?!"

He looked this "Damiana" over, up and down. The way he talked, the way he held himself. Sounding worried about him--her? The healer had referred to her as a miss, and though she sounded uncomfortable using it...Well, if she had been a mare--or even if she really was a stallion, it took all sorts--then it could make perfect sense. "Sometimes we do silly things for people we want to like us," he said softly.

Wolf hadn't really moved all that far from where he had sent Cat from. When she came back to him, she almost seemed too happy for her own good. Tilting his head to one side he watched his sister carefully. Something was on her mind and it was making her have a little bounce in her step. Shaking his head he snorted lightly.

"Smooth your feathers there Cat. Don't get too excited." Though Wolf couldn't help but laugh on the inside. "But yes, please wake the Knight, we need all able fighters ready. When you are done with that, can you tell any Knights you see coming off patrol and tell them what's happening?"

While he loved his sister dear, he couldn't put his hoof on whatever made her be who she was. He was a soul who wanted more from life and make something of it. Pulling himself from his own thoughts, Wolf headed in another direction to see if anyone was coming off Patrol from the other quadrants. Things were going to get exciting and everyone seemed to be buzzing like a bee hive.

Damiana, had shi been in any other state of mind, would have kicked Anand for what he was saying. In fact, shi still might if given the chance and she glared at him in warning. Head turning around as someone else came up on hir other side, shi looked at the unicorn beside hir. Standing quickly, almost stumbling over hir own hooves. Damiana bowed hir head to Tonestue.

"Yes, yes, that is my name." Shi glared at Anand once again. "Saltic said that? I'm more worried about him, wings heal, you shouldn't be wasting your energy on me."

But it was already too late, with the glow from Tonestue's horn aglow. Shi opened hir wings to show the damage and make it easier to heal. As Damiana stood there, she looked the mare over and noticed the bulge in
her belly. Nope! That settled it! Snapping her wings closed, Damiana stepped away from Tonestue and shook hir head.

"My wings aren't so important. What is more important is here." Shi gestured to the mare's belly. "Healing must take more energy than wanted. The webs will heal, a few more holes will just give them more character."

If there was one thing Plamen loved, aside from his deranged mate Retinadeath, it was chaos. However, if there was one reason for him to get decidedly ragey and homicidal, it was someone else raining down chaos on him. Apparently, there was an intruder alert that sent everyone into a tizzy, and caused someone, in their infinite and short-lived wisdom, to wake him up. With absolutely no reason. The Chaos Duke of Fire growled in irritation. Whatever poor schlub had strayed into the territory, if they hadn't been mobbed to death by the army, was in for some long, slow torture at Plamen's hooves for waking him up in the middle of the night.

If Plamen had been feeling prepared for long, slow torture, Queen Blodeuwedd was prepared for mass slaughter. Starting with the idiot who'd bellowed her into wakefulness. And over an intruder they apparently couldn't handle themselves. Hauling herself from her nest with her vain mate, she stomped regally outside, and, with a strategic kick and a long horn pointed at a vital spot, she demanded of the hapless Osteocyte, "This had BETTER be good, or I will personally perform the evisceration ceremony in public."

Stormlight, as it so happened, had just gotten in from a long patrol and finally fallen asleep in the small hollow he shared with his royal-born daughter, when someone with a death wish came bouncing along, shouting at the top of her teenage lungs. Stormlight blinked one glowing violet eye open. Curses. Not allowed to kill. It was his boss' daughter Cataracta. "For what reason am I being awoken right after my patrol? Doesn't a faithful and worthy knight deserve a proper night's sleep?" he whined abrasively.

Unfortunately, Stormlight's daughter Irishstorm was already out on patrol, but could hear some sounds of alarm. Intruders. Probably best to keep an eye out for more, in case this was an invasion. And if nothing happened, report back, offer assistance. Especially if another alarm could be heard.

Haruto was, fortunately, one of the few getting some honest rest. Being of a more fragile constitution had its advantages, and he was taking that opportunity to sleep despite the chaos. Hopefully, he'd be allowed to continue getting that rest before he found out what chaos had occurred and whether he got to help Plamen deal some damage.

Hyperopia had been too jittery to sleep, despite the temptation of doing pretty grisly things to others. She couldn't WAIT to apply to be a Death Knight. It had to be more fun than being a recruit. She heard the occasional comment about an intruder, which got her even more excited. She chased after her sister, Cataracta. "Cat! Is there an intruder? Do we get to murderate them?" she asked gleefully, not caring that they were outside the den of Stormlight and Irishstorm, two Dark Knights not yet joining in the action.

Now, how could Cataracta most annoy one of the less ambitious (and therefore, less scary) members of the Shadow Army? Why, of course! Cataracta bounced into Stormlight's den with all the energy that the Signs had granted to teenage girls. "Wake up, sleepy-butt!" she chirped. "It's your lucky day! You get to do daring heroics to defend our herd and our way of life!" She added a girly giggle to the end, just for effect. Because if you were going to wake someone up in the middle of the night, you might as well be obnoxious as hell about it. If Irishstorm had been here, it would have been a completely different story, of course--she would have simply nudged them both awake and given them the news. Irishstorm was a mare determined to go somewhere. No way was Cataracta getting in her way. "Report to Wolfbane for further information!" With that, she bounced her way back out without answering his question.

She traipsed right out into her sister. Aah, Hyperopia. Another one to fear without hesitation. She kept the grin on her face. "I think we only get to murderate 'em when Wolf says we can. Until then, we just gotta harass and torment 'em. Wanna help?"

Osteocyte dodged the kick and the stab. "Wolfbane ordered me to wake you up, your majesty. As your death general placed him in charge while we are being invaded, I was bound to follow his orders." Look at the nice dark knight with his pretty halo over his head. Mind you, it was a halo made of swamp gas, but hey, he was telling the truth. He nodded his head towards that weirdo Plamen (seriously? He could stand Retinadeath for more than two seconds? Yeesh, some people had all the patience. He should have a statue erected of him in frigging bronze someday).

An invasion? Really? Tepey raised his dark head and looked worryingly after his mate. He jumped to his feet and followed his mate outside where she kicked that dreadful bully Osteocyte out of the way. He ran up behind her. "Be careful?" he asked her. What did the queen do during a fight? If she was going to stand beside her troops...Well, needless to say, Tepey wasn't getting any sleep tonight, either! Why hadn't Cometary warned them of this?! He was in Sunflare, he should have told them about it!

Tonestue was about to say something to Anand when the solara decided to stand up. She took several steps backward very quickly. That sharp horn and those fangs had not escaped her attention. Nor had her solicitous attitude towards Tonestue's wayward uncle. So, she seemed to care about him...and Saltic had cared about her. Well, this was interesting. She let the glow fade to its normal level. "I told you, I don't have the skill to fix bones yet. I've never needed to. I just don't have the practi--hey!" She reared, flailing her hooves to protect her laden belly. "Don't touch them! They'll be fine," she added. "In the meantime, I am a healer, and I will be damned if I let someone prevent me from doing my job! You are my patient, like it or not!" She turned to Anand. "Mother says you're to go help with Saltic."

Anand nodded and followed the scent back to where Saltic lie beneath a tree. His leg was bent at an awkward angle and he was covered in scratches from his precipitous descent. None of these seemed to bother him quite as much as his grandmother metaphorically pinning his ears back. There was a distinctly uncomfortable look on his face until he saw Anand.

"Damiana!" he said. "Is she okay? Has Tonestue--"

"YOU DON'T GET AWAY WITH IT THAT EASILY, LADDY BUCK."

Ruadh diligently wove the vines in between the two limbs. He glanced up at Anand to roll his eyes at the family drama. Ruadh didn't normally show that level of emotion, but after five minutes of loud screaming in his ears, he was beginning to not care. He just wanted Saltic to admit he was wrong and mollify the general already. Seriously, her yelling was more than vaguely annoying right now. He stood up from his work and surveyed it. "Done."

That seemed to do the trick. "Good," Retinadeath snapped. "Now we slide it under him and drag his sorry a** back to camp."

Damiana watched the mare, listened to what she had to say. But Damiana hirself kept hir head up and hir wings close to her body. While there were more tears in those wings then a spider's web. Shi refused to let them be touched, it wasn't so much that shi was scared of it. Shi just didn't want someone in this mare's condition to over do it. Flicking hir tail, Damiana backed away as the mare reared up.

"Oh keep your tail on, I wasn't even close to touching you." Not very lady like, but shi had to say it. "And Orpheus thought I was skittish. Look, Hunny, I don't care what practice you have had. You don't look in the condition to be doing anything. I'm surprised you are standing at all."

Turning hir head to one side, shi hadn't noticed that Anand had left, leaving the two alone. Or so it seemed anyways, shi had only known the uptight stallion to be around, besides the mare. Was that smart? Damiana could do most anything and no one would rightly know about it. Shi had run a distance away from where Saltic was/had been laying.

"Perhaps I should help you get back to.. Where ever it is that you had come from. There are more dangers out here, then me. I may be a vampire by heritage, I do have my dignity." Damiana raised her head up again as if it meant something. It did, at least to hir..

All seemed to be going well, if well was a word for... Nut house, then yeah. Well. He had sent a message off to the herd leader, the Knights not on patrol were called to alert. Those coming off patrol were filled in what was going on. Yes, this is how things should go in this situation. Wings pulled in close to his back, the bright colored yearling walked to edge of the trees where his mother and many had disappeared. His ears alert to hear the sounds of their return. Nothing yet, but he also kept in mind that he had other things to attend to. Dutiful things..
