As he watched her cough and wheeze James couldn't help but feel concern for the woman. Was she dying? Watching as she got up to tend to the winter garden, James decided to cook her a meal. No doubt she would be hungry after work right? Quietly leaving the room he headed for the kitchen and began to gather what he needed. Magically she had enough, heck, MAGIC, was probably in everything she owned and did! Deciding to make something hearty, he began to prepare a roast, along with mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and other assortments of food. One thing he was good at was cooking, and his delicious dishes showed. No doubt she was going to need something warm and filling after working in the snow like that. Pretty soon the house was filled with a variety of smells and James laughed as he watched the table basically set itself. Carrying the dishes out one by one, he smiled at the small spread he had made. Why he had done this? Maybe she just needed someone to be there for her? Would she be happy? Heck would she be hungry? He hoped so.

I stepped over to the Winter rosebush and I started pruning it too. Thankfully for my form it wasn't spreading near as quick, though I still felt my muscles shudder and my legs start to shift painfully as I pruned away the leaves.
I couldn't help but lament over how simple it had been to suddenly make the rosebushes sick. Why hadn't she just asked? Or chosen other flowers? I paused in my pruning and yelped when I felt my legs suddenly start the shift from normal to dual jointed... If she had asked I was perfectly human the moment before she picked the flowers. Then she plucked the rose from the white bush and all of a sudden I had fangs. And slitted eyes. Ow!
I kept pruning until all the sick leaves were trimmed away. I then collapsed into the snow and grit my sharp teeth as my legs continued their painful transformation. I panted as I pulled off my boots, and winced at the restriction of my pants... they were not designed for this! My feet had gone long and padded, while my toes had long sharp claws sticking out of them. The toes shifted, getting longer, until I had a full set of talons. My arms had gotten more muscular, and I had to pull off the other glove before I destroyed it. My skin was pale as paper and my nails had turned into inch long claws. And I also grew a long whip-like tail covered in thin red fur. Thankfully the cold snow numbed the sensation some...
And that's not to mention what was happening to my head and face...
I sighed in relief once the transformation was over. Carefully getting up I limped back inside.
I paused when I smelled the scent of cooking food. It smelled really good, more so when the house did it itself. Was it James who had cooked?
I limped over to the dining room and peered inside... I still hadn't lowered my hood...

James had noticed she looked different, like she had changed some of course he spotted her carrying in a large dish of mashed potatoes. "Darling!" he shyly stated running over to her, after setting the tray down. Her clothing was ripped and she looked pained. James softly reached up and touched her face, from underneath her hood and stared into her eyes. "I...thought you might want something to eat, from working so hard." he said with a kind smile. "I-I don't know if you like roast or not, but I figured something warm would help fill you up." He said his other hand softly touching the edge of her hood. She still had somewhat of a womanly figure, but she looked more beastly now. Her face felt a bit furry too as he left his hand on her cheek. Though despite this he still smiled at her kindly and warmly. "I forgot to introduce myself before. I'm James." he softly said. "What about you?" Removing his hands, James carefully took one of her clawed hands and gently led her to the large seat. "Oh look at me, you must be tired from working so hard. Here let me help you." he smiled and began to fill a plate for her.

Blinking in surprise from his... unexpected behavior, I let him lead me over to the table. I finally reached up and flicked the hood back, letting it fall.
I looked down as it was revealed that I had a snout, kind of like a dogs but shorter. Sharp teeth were just sticking out from under my upper lip. My ears were very large and were oriented up towards the top of my head... kind of like a bats. My hair was long and crimson, tied into a ponytail and it spilled down my back from where it had been cooped up in the hood. Fine fur had crept down towards my cheeks.
I watched as he put the plate on the table in-front of me.
Thank you... I said, and my voice sounded even raspier now. It kinda hurt to talk. I looked up at him gratefully as I awkwardly picked up a fork and knife to start eating.

Jason stared at her face for a moment. She looked worn and hurt? Watching her eat he gently reached up and touched her face, exploring it's features. It was very pretty for a beast's face. Noticing her eyes were on him Jason slowly moved his hand back and blushed shyly. "Oh wait! I forgot the drink!" he blushed running off and fetching a pitcher of water. Pouring her some in a large wooden stein mug he smiled. "H-Here, maybe this will help with your throat." He oddly wasn't afraid by her apparance. Though her face looked mean and vicious, her eyes were soft and gentle. This woman couldn't be all bad right?

I had been halfway done cutting off a large hunk of meat from the roast on my plate when he jumped up and fetched some water. I carefully lifted the fork with the meat to my mouth when it slid off the fork due to the angle I was holding it at.
These claws were not meant for holding things I thought, before trying again ana managing to lift the piece of meat to my mouth. I chewed it thoroughly-- it was very tender, and I hadn't tasted anything this juicy in years! Well... anything cooked.
I put down the fork and took the stein with both hands, starting to gulp down the water eagerly. By the time I was finished downing it all my head was all the way back and the stein nearly upside down.
I emptied the large mug and carefully put it back down. I looked to James again and pondered him for a moment. Most people panicked the moment I grew fangs... No one had ever seen me this far transformed and was so calm and seemed to caring. I wiped my mouth on my non bloodstained sleeve before leaning over and nuzzling his shoulder gratefully. I made a playful growling sound as I did so, before picking up the fork and knife again and starting to carefully get another hunk of meat off my plate...

Blushing James was happy she was satisfied. Noticing her claws were giving her trouble he stopped her for a moment. "You can eat with your hands if you want. I-I don't want you to cut yourself or anything. H-honey." he said before getting a plate for himself and filling it. This felt so odd, but James knew he could trust her. The woman was a little gruff, but she was nice. Was she lonely? Slowly eating he began to focus on his plate, taking his time and gently cutting into the meat. He was a slow and careful eater. James also was pretty chatty at the dinner table, but he was just too shy right now. Part of him kind of still wanted to go back home to his mother. Mother...he hoped she was doing alright.

I nodded and started picking up the food with my hands, taking large bites and savoring each bite. My tail was wagging back and forth happily as I ate. I had found someone who didn't fear me! ... or at least the way I looked.
When I finished I picked up a napkin and wiped my hands and my mouth, and I curled my lips into a grateful smile. I bowed my head to him, and I growled playfully again.

He blushed a bit, was she attracted to him? James had to admit her growling was rather alluring. Finishing his food he looked at her and smiled. "Do you need anymore? What about water?" he asked standing up and walking over. His heart pounding a bit he shyly moved closer and gently kissed her furry cheek. "I-I was wondering, you wouldn't mind showing me around would you? A-After all..th-this is my home now right?" he smiled shyly gently taking one of her clawed hands.

I carefully picked up the mug in both hands and held it out to him, trying to give him a cute look with my eyes.
When he suggested that I show him around I nodded, before rising to my feet. I was a good head taller then I was before, and my tail was waving around for balance with the way the pants were constricting my legs. Methinks I need to change into a skirt...

Letting go of her hand, James grabs her mug and refills it. Handing it to her he blushes as their hands touch. Staring up into her eyes his heart begins to race. "C-Can I ask you something? W-Why were you looking for a husband?" he asked poking his fingers together. She looked sort of like a werewolf, but that didn't matter. Her eyes sparkled the beauty she held in her heart and soul. He couldn't help but stare into them as he waited for her answer.

I gulped it down gratefully. Once I finished drinking I lowered the stein.
He then asked why I had been looking for a husband. I sighed.
I coughed into my sleeve for a second, and some blood came up.
The rosebushes are... tied to me. I rasped. The white Rosebush keeps me human when it is healthy... The red is my health. I have been caring for them for years... I've lost count how long... I finally got them fully healthy... I stopped to cough up more blood. And then... she comes along... I gasp in pain but I screw up my eyes. Her touch made them sick... I don't know how long it's going to be until... they wither... away... completely... I wanted... someone... to... keep... me... company...

His mother had done that? Walking over to her James softly took her arm and smiled. "I'm sorry, she didn't mean it. You poor woman!" tears filled his eyes as he lightly touched her face. Softly kissing her arm he cuddled it lightly. "Don't worry I'll keep you company. Would my wife honor me with telling me her name?" he asked looking up and smiling at her warmly. He couldn't believe his mother had been so careless! Though, she had only done it for him. After father had passed life was rough for them both. Yet nothing probably compared to what this woman was feeling! Blushing shyly he looked down. "You know, you have really pretty eyes. Not to mention that your fur is a lovely color. You look adorable really, honest!" he stated happily.

I smiled when he hugged my arm and reached up to touch my snout. He looked like he was about to cry upon hearing the news... He then looked up at me, And I then realized that he was asking my name. I also blushed at his comment on my eyes. Out of everything of my features, my eyes changed the least. My form didn't frighten him one bit... I thought I'd never encounter someone so caring and understanding...
My... name... is.... Tarana.... Ameras...
Ameras... I thought as I pondered my last name. It had been so long since I heard it, from my voice or another's. It had been so long since I had heard my first name too. I was once the princess of a great magical kingdom... I thought. Now the only parts of my heritage I have left are my clothes and my home...
I looked down at him with a smile, and my tail wagged. At least I wasn't alone anymore. I suddenly picked him and hugged him gently.

She had a pretty name. "Tarana.." he muttered then blushed when she pulled him up into a hug. Wrapping his arms around her frame he rested his head upon her shoulder. "Don't worry, I won't leave you alone." he cooed softly rubbing her back. Looking up at her a deep blush was on James's face. His heart began to beat in his chest faster and faster, plus he felt like he had butterflies in his stomach. Laying his head on her shoulder again he snuggled into her warm furry body and let out a sigh. "You're so soft...let's stay like this for a bit." he said happily. "I feel safe in your arms Tarana Ameras." he purred her name softly.
