He knew telling her something like that would worry her, but, well, that was one thing she couldn't really do. Even in his current predicament, he couldn't ignore his duties as a hunter, no matter how perilous, but in his current state, visits to the HH would only be a hindrance on him and to others, considering he couldn't even hold his own against a measly horseman. Or perhaps it would be better if he was disposed of. All he was doing was wasting resources at this point...
There was nothing saying that compliments and gratitude couldn't work both ways. He supposed all these patrols and spars were helping her too, and for that he was glad, but to constantly put her in harm's way was something he didn't really like.
He supposed a hug would probably hurt, but he wouldn't turn one down. The kiss, however, was still pretty welcomed.
"Like crap, but a bit better than before, I supposed." Maybe the spars and patrols did help... somewhat. "Though in this state, I don't think I can do another titan patrol. At least not for a bit."

It was a good thing Jake wasn’t voicing all of his thoughts, Sherry might have decided to smack him, however lightly, for thinking silly things like it would be better to be disposed of. Silly boy.
To be honest, Sherry was earning something from all this training, too, though she was happier about the time spent with Jake than about the actual training part. (Armagnac thought this was silly.) Training for herself was a plus, though, not the reason she’d agreed to help.
“Silly Jake,” she chuckled. At least he said he was feeling better, and he seemed know realize that he shouldn’t push himself too far. “You just try going after another titan anytime soon and see what happens. I will be putting a stop to silliness like that, you can be sure.” Another kiss was placed on his cheek. They would just have to find something else he could do, something that didn’t involve giant insanity beasts.

Sadly, it was another habit he hadn't learned to get rid of, or, perhaps, it was because of his past blunders that he thought this way. And while he had to admit he did like the extra time spent with her, his main objective really was just to train himself (sorry Sherry).
Even though he knew he was younger, it was still a little strange having her call him that, and he made a face. "Is that a threat?" He was kidding of course, but had no doubts that she probably would stop him by force if necessary, and for all he knew, her weapon had a thing for him, or something. He didn't feel like honoring its cry for blood by provoking Sherry.
Jokes and imaginary threats aside, he really was in a pinch. Any sort of training was definitely out of the question, but he couldn't just SIT here and wait to get better. He barely noticed the peck on his cheek, or any hidden agendas Sherry was planning (after all, he sucked at reading between the lines) and mused silently.
"Maybe there's some sort of island tasks we can do... I'm sure I can manage pod duty or... minipets..." The last word was said with a shudder.

Sherry only grinned. “Yes.” It was indeed a threat, though she was still not certain how she would go about stopping him. Despite what Armagnac said, and what her job was, violence was rarely the answer. All in all, though, perhaps it was best Jake was horrible at reading between the lines. Armagnac was certainly grateful. (Not that Sherry had hidden agendas…Of course she didn’t.)
“Haha!” She had to laugh at his out loud musings. “You don’t want minipet duty? They are such cute things, though.” Still holding his hand, she sat down on the stool again. “You know, I heard about a few other assignments we could see about picking up. Supply runs, or something. They shouldn’t be too much trouble, but it’s something to do.”
She shrugged. “We could check them out as soon as you’re feeling better.”

Poor Sherry, your boyfriend is dense as bricks.
"I hate them." he hissed, not able to hide his contempt for them. If it weren't for "research" purposes, he'd question why they even kept such nusances on the island. He'd much rather fight 100 horsemen than spending an afternoon watching those things.
His sullen attitude suddenly perked up when Sherry mentioned some sort of supply mission. Picking up stuff? That didn't sound TOO bad. ... wait. What stuff? And where?
"... what kind of supply run?"

Sherry really should know that Jake doesn't pick up on hints well...not that she was sending any. Besides, he was injured and depressed, so now was not the time-
"They are not all terrible. Lt. Fuzzyduke is a ball of delight...." She should make sure he was still down in the lab sometime. She had kind of donated him to science, but still, she'd named the little thing.
"Um," Jake's question brought her attention back to him. "I'm not quite sure. It looked pretty standard. One of them did. The other had certain lists..." Sherry looked thoughtful while she tried to remember. She'd been in a hurry when she'd learned about them. "Both had to be pretty standard. Involved shopping. I think a couple of the leads had specific lists, too." She shrugged again. "Look liked they involved actual stores, though. Not stealing or anything, since they came with a budget."

Indeed. Jake only stared at Sherry when she mentioned some sort of ridiculous name that only a child would come up with. He almost felt bad for the thing. "..." ... Best not to ask.
Luckily, she changed the topic, and as she went into more detail, Jake's eyes widened. That sounded... PERFECT. No insanity beasts, no fighting... Heck, he'd have to be completely incompetent to screw something like that up. "Can anyone run it? Are there specific requirements?"

Sherry didn't catch that stare, but she still thought Lt. Fuzzyduke had a fine name. It wasn't like she was naming a child or anything. Just a ball of fluff made from fear.
"I think so," she replied to his first question. "I didn't see any restrictions. I think someone mentioned everyone being monitored..." she paused for a moment in thought, "and any personal spending is out of pocket. Fairly certain I heard that much."
She looked at Jake again. "Do you want to see if that's something that's still open? You know, when you're feeling better?" As in not right at this moment, considering everything.

Jake would pity the child even more if she named one such a name.
"Monitored?" He wasn't quite sure how to take that, but, well, he had a feeling they were being watched on the island as is already. But as Sherry described it, it was an off-island trip, to perhaps some sort of mall. While he didn't need a lot of stuff himself, it was a nice way to get off the island, considering portals were still down.
"Yah, I'd like that." His head was hurting a bit less now and he was starting to get a bit drowsy. Sedatives, he supposed, as his body was starting to go numb now. At least that explained the IV drip. "Maybe... after a nap..."

Sherry wasn't cruel, she'd never dream of giving a child a silly name like that. Probably.
"I think so. I'm not sure what they meant, but I suppose they want to keep an eye on the money." She figured that was what they meant by monitored. It made sense, at least.
"Okay. We'll do it." She smiled again and stood. "I'll come and check on you again later." Sleep would be good for him. Squeezing his hand again (she liked his hands ok) she leaned over for one quick good-bye kiss. "Rest well."
