It smelled like food.
It looked like food.
She took a bite - it did not taste like food.
Alamea stood at the edge of the small building swallowing what felt like knives. It was one of the times she was glad to be what she was but the bite had left her completely dissatisfied. Sticking her tongue out and spitting sugar bits she entered the classroom. It smelled nice in here too and she took in a deep whiff. She heard the calls of the teacher and glanced back to the mixing, walking over and placing a finger into the batter, licking it. "Hmm." She said, blinking it back.
And here she thought she'd get free food. Peeking out from her over-sized scarf she took to the bowl and watched a few others. It was concerning as she could remember every meal she attempted ending in flaming disaster, but she shrugged it off. After such an awful bite of just whatever that was she'd try anything else.
Mixing to it she blinked as she went, pulling up her sleeves of her overcoat back several time as she did. It was a complete mess in her mind and she stopped, frowning at it as she licked at her cheek where some batter had ended up. "Not yet." She rolled up her sleeve and went on to continue.

Gabby totally, totally tried to bite the gingerbread house. He ended up with a mouth full of pain, and no lessons learned.
He stepped inside, rubbing his cheeks to get the sting out, and heaved at the interior. This whole JOY situation was a little gaudy for him.. but at least they loved snow. That he could get behind.
Their first task was mixing. So they were going to make food.. gingerbread food.. yes. Yes he was pleased with this outcome. He was ready to make - and then eat - gingerbread houses all day. He took his bowl, which filled with liquid, and he began to mix.

Well that was just pathetic. Even he could see, as he pulled the spoon out, that his mixture wasn't mixed well enough. He tried again. Practice made perfect, and he was all about perfection.

It started to look like real batter and she nodded, fighting against her coat again and moving back, clapping to herself with a hop. "Can we eat it yet?" She wondered aloud, tilting her head while he ears bounced up and down. Given her track record in the kitchen this was enough for her and she stood, sticking her finger in again for another taste. At least this tasted better than the house.

That tiny touch of sparkle.. it spurned Gabby to keep trying. He wanted more sparkle. MORE. And oh, he got it. The batter glittered like diamonds, and Gabby was transfixed. He sighed happily, and started to hope that Efflo would show up to this class.. just so he could show off his masterpiece. Mixing Done! Ruth's expression when she saw all that glitter was one of shock, followed by horror, with the intense desire to unsee everything hot on its heels. Unfortunately, she was not gifted the ability of selective amnesia and instead chose to squirrel away the terror the sight induced for some other time. Preferably to give her berserker-like strength in times of need, or in the exam, that worked too.
With a repressed shudder, the reaper paid close attention to their teacher, particularly her lips' movement. She could make out additional mutterings but Ruth was neither skilled nor quick enough to read what what said. Her opinion of their guest upped a slight notch because of this.

 Ruth wasn't big on these domestic duties. She was a ghoul but that meant Jack for a paranoia agent. At the same time, there was a level of expectation her parents had of her performance, not that she knew exactly what it was they were expecting of her. In which case, it's their jacking fault for not setting her straight. So while she still had the opportunity to mix more and do better, Ruth settled for such a batter.
She may also just... not want all that glitter. That possibility was just as likely, to be frank.Mixing Done!Student: B. Ruth Mixing Score: 7

The monster horse was apparently determined to attend all baking-related classes, it seemed. His efforts can't be faulted in that respect, skill on the other hand... well not everyone was cut out for this sort of activities, and Petro just wasn't willing to surrender in this matter. When he laid eyes on their professor and what she brought, the tikbalang was blinded.
No. Really. That gleam. That shine. That glitter. Flashy and showy and something the horse boil couldn't replicate even if he spent his entire lifetime trying to learn. Someone ought to tell him that was a good thing considering he was a denizen of Halloween rather than Joy.
But there were times one couldn't see that which was staring them right in the face. In Petro's case, it was that which wasn't glittering and sparkling.

The sudden appearance of batter in the bowls and the professor's enthusiasm was nothing short of overwhelming. Rather than calm himself down, Petro allowed himself to be swept up in the excitement, determined to prove himself adequate in baking! Unfortunately, he really should have reigned himself in some, because the strength with which he mixed was a tad on the over side.
With an audible CRASH!!!! coming all the way from the other side of the room after Petro whipped his batter, bowl and all right through the wall. He said nothing, just raised his hand to indicate he would need another batch.

At least Petro was the sort of boil who learned from his mistakes. The wait in retrieving a new bowl and for the fresh batch of batter to pour was enough to calm the rapid-beating of his heart and still the trembling eagerness of his bare arms. Victoria wasn't exactly attracted to the sparkly house because of how it looked, but because of how it smelled; as tempted as she was to take a bite, she knew that good ghouls wouldn't do that... And successfully curbed her urge.
When the mixing bowl just appeared, her eyes shone, and she started to mix the mixture with a lot of passion... And she might also be trying to get rid of the mild frustration at being around and smelling all these delicious things, but not getting to eat them.

The only thing Monty like more then making stuff was making stuff out of food that had the potential to be eaten.
so when he entered a room that smelled of sweets he was quick to stay. He stood behind a table and watched as the bowl filled with stuff and once it was done he quickly picked up a spoon and started to mix.
The first time he mixed it wasn't' to bad it was a little smooth and wasn't really sparkling.

Not happy with his first try Monty mixed a little more. But it only made things worse. He nice smooth mixture was now a mass of lumps.

Tossing his spoon down and staring at his mixture "there's no way to fix that" he groaned. He slowly poked at the mixture of lumps and watched as they slowly started to smooth out. A few minutes later to his surprise his batter was sparkling like crazy. He quickly took his spoon out and laid it on the table.
