Luxor looked at her and frowned thoughtfully, then looked at Realgar and frowned critically. He sighed, still frowning, but relented and relaxed a bit. His hands unclenched from their white knuckled fists, at least, and his shoulders drooped a bit. He was not immediately ready to throw a punch, which was an improvement, at least.
He supposed Zia knew what she was doing, even if he did not agree with this idea of a 'point of contact'. That made it seem like this Nega was acting good, but in his mind he did not think Chaos agents were capable of such things.
Chaos made them evil, and that made them deserve to be wiped out.
"Double agent? I don't like the sound of that. I don't like any of this. You shouldn't be here, lest you bring other Negaverse soldiers back here." He was still tense, but he would believe Zia when she said this one was... tolerable. For now. But once she left, all bets would be off. "What does that mean, double agent? I thought Chaos made you evil."

Chaos made you evil? That was an almost hilariously simplistic view, and Realgar snorted a little more loudly than he intended to, unable to contain his opinion of things. "...Wouldn't it be nice if we could say that what side we're on made people do what they do? No, you're dealing with people who think they're doing the right thing, cause that's the line they got pitched. Invading aliens, greater good, blah blah. Chaos doesn't make you into a damn Disney villain, it's not that simple. It's one part war propaganda, and the rest is..." He struggled to find a way to phrase it. That it wasn't like someone just flipped a switch in your head and turned you into a tropey villain... the agents who were like that had already been damaged in the head before they were recruited. "It's subtle. They tell you you're doing the right thing, saving the world, serving justice, having power whatever it takes to get you on board. After that it's more... subtle. Either you wake up enough to realize that you're numb to the things that used to horrify you, or... you don't. And if you do wake up, you decide if you care or not, and if you do, then IF you're lucky enough to find out that those people you've been fighting can also purify corruption, you get to decide if it's worth it to put the lives of your family and friends in danger to ditch, because you know damn well there's at least one other agent who knows who you are and who they are, and they're probably more powerful than you. "So yeah Hollywood. I'm just evil. I tie damsels to Railroad tracks on the weekend. It's a hoot. You should come." Zia was clearly attached to the guy, but he just wasn't quite as sold so far. He could kind of see where that cut and dried world view came from, it wasn't too far off from where he'd been, but they were at a similar power level. Maybe it was his own Chaos taint talking but it was a little harder to forgive it.

Zia's expression darkened a bit as the nature of chaos became discussed at length. This was the sort of thing where she picked and chose which 'truths' to share based on her audience. And Luxor and Realgar were two very different audiences.
"Chaos does make you evil," She stated after a long amount of silence on her end. "It's the price you pay when you level up. You buy your power using your clarity, sanity, and morality as currency."
She cleared her throat and let her head lull to the side as she avoided eye contact with either of them. But one hand slid under her shirt to trace the twisted spear scars on her side as she thought. "He's a second stage, his infection hasn't taken him yet. There's humanity in him that's very present and salvageable," She explained almost with guilt. Like she was afraid Luxor would think less of her for this encounter. But she glanced up at the squire and gave him a stubborn frown.
"He's going through a lot of s**t to get past it, though, and he's my friend. He's saved my a**, and I owe him one, so..." She expected Realgar would probably chalk it up to when he saved her from a bad date or making sure she had a safe place to crash when she drank herself into oblivion.
There was more to it then that. He had intervened when she was on the edge of giving up on life, and then later to save her a** in so many more ways. There was a lot of it he didn't and couldn't know about, but Zia was self aware enough that she was certain if some weird random chance of fate hadn't dropped Realgar next to her on that rooftop, she probably wouldn't be alive, or at the very least in worse shape than she currently was in.
Either way, when it came down to things, as much as she sympathized with Luxor's need for revenge, it would have to skip this one. It wasn't like the DMC. Realgar could he saved, and after the way he had dragged her kicking and screaming out of suicidal despair, she owed him that much.
"So you gotta leave this one alone. Sorry."

Luxor listened, but if anything was getting through or not was up for debate. He just stared blankly at them, listening to both of their descriptions and understanding that it meant he could not hurt this Nega, specifically, but he did not want to start thinking about things like that.
Doubt. Purification.
This changed the way he saw the negaverse: the absolute that he had told himself and carried around with him was not as true as he needed it to be to justify his unbridled rage and thirst for revenge. But even knowing all this, he thought about his carnival, all the people that died or were hurt, and he knew that a few good eggs could not out weigh the terrible force of the bad ones. Chaos made people evil, that was true, but it seemed that sometimes it was involuntary.
He was not sure how to deal with that just yet, so he tucked it away into the back of his mind for now, to reference again later, when he felt he had the ability to properly deal with it.
"I am sorry I attacked you," he said stiffly, in his bland, hard to believe way. He did not put any sort of emotion into his words, so it did not sound like he was being sarcastic, but it did not sound like he was being sincere, either. He nodded his head, though, and looked at Zia, hoping she believed him more than he did the Nega himself. Though he did look back to Realgar and, after a long moment of thought, added, "thank you for helping Zia."

"Bullshit you're sorry." Considering the expletive, the statement was surprisingly without accusation, as he stiffly extended a hand to Luxor. "You were doing your job. I can b***h about it but I can't really blame you for it. Besides, Zee likes you. You've got that going for you." He shrugged apologetic almost, toward Zia as he added. "I gave you a ride and dinner. No big."

Zia grinned when Luxor apologized, obviously believing it with all she had. Even if part of her felt a little bad that he even had to apologize in the first place. He was a good war machine, she liked that, and it was unfortunate he had to cross paths with a particular corrupted individual on her 'keep from expiring' list.
And then she looked at Realgar and her sudden, pressed frown nearly made her look like a frog.
You idiot..
There were lots of ways Realgar had saved her in the past they couldn't really talk about. Things that, even without the hurdle of double identities, were hard to verbalize. So there was something a little poetic about finally getting to acknowledge it in a way that mattered, even if it just saved him from getting his face pounded in a bit.
Until he ruined it by being all literal and s**t.
"Stop talking. Just. Stop..." She nearly snarled and held up a hand between them in a 'close it' gesture.
"Fine," She snapped and mimicked his shrug. "You owe me then. I'll collect later. Come on, Luxor, I wanted to take you dinner anyway," She announced, grabbing the squire by the arm and trying to tug him into leaving.

Luxor was not sure what he had stepped in the middle of, but now he supposed he had to make sure not to mistake Realgar for any of the other Negas he could run into: he did not want to go back in his promise to Zia. If she thought he was okay, then there was something here Luxor was missing. He just had to trust her.
And this guy, he supposed.
"You wanted to take me to dinner?" he asked, as she tugged him along. He was not sure that sounded right, as the last time she had promised to bring him dinner she had left it on the floor outside, mostly as splattered street art. He was not sure it sat with him anyway, he was supposed to be the one to take her to dinner. Old fashioned as he was.
He looked back at Realgar and nodded his head, at least polite enough to silently say goodbye, hoping she was right in letting him stay so near to the Carnival and hoping he didn't cause any more trouble. He had trust issues, that Luxor.
He returned his attention to Zia and let her drag him off where ever she wanted to, as per usual.
